It was just added less than an hour ago, the beta was awesome and it's hands down the greatest IM app available. You can get it for $9.99.

No kidding, $10 for a messaging app?
10 crazy
Not many are going to spend $10 for any app, let alone an IM app.
usa is in a recession!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What are they thinking?????!!!!!!!!!
I dont care if this app granted three wishes and one of them was for another Evo, I still wouldnt spend $10 on it.
You can get into the Trillian beta for free. MUCH better than Beejive.
Yeah, I was using Beejive beta but it's somewhat laggy to me. Guess I'll test out Trillian beta.

I have both of the latest betas (Trillian/Beejive). I don't use Trillian enough to say with absolute certainty if it does or doesn't but I can say that Beejive has cloud based notifications and Trillian doesn't. So it probably does murder your battery. I personally like Trillian's simplified/native UI but Beejive is ahead there but $10 worth? Na.
Does anyone have the beta for trillian?
Beejive is overpriced. I orchard it on my iPhone and it sucks I'd have to but it again.

This is the second time that I've heard of this "cloud based" system and I know that it is Google's version of push and I know that Beejive uses it but, Beejive still causes a full wakelock and in my testing of the latest beta, it is not that good on battery either. It's not maybe eBuddy or Fring status but, it's not what I want it to be. Especially because it causes a wakelock. I could never spend $10 on something that causes a wakelock. I don't care how good it's supposed to be on battery.
I guess we won't see an IM app that can sleep in the background fully and wake only to receive/send date anytime soon?

Might just be some bugs they have to work out? Chrome to phone doesn't seem to kill the battery or leave it awake?
One of the big things that Android lacks that iOS currently does well is push notifications. Having a ton of apps polling every x minutes just KILLS the battery, not to mention that it does give you (near) real time updates. I'm really hoping that Facebook and Twitter (which ironically is only soon going to get push notifications on iOS) adopt this in future updates.

Its there in the permissions for the newest beta. Both are going to murk the piss out of your battery though either way. The cloud messaging lessens the effect on battery but from my tests, its not enough.

Does anybody else find that this app does not give you everything that should be available to you?
For example, when someone 'likes' a status it will not show up in your notificatiins and you therfore have to go to the mobile website which kind of defeats the objective of an app.
Has anybody got another app that will work better on the HD2?
Dare I say it .... like the dreaded sheep followed 'iPhone'?
Quite an infuriating aspect of the situation.
i agree with you. the iphone facebook app, it´s soooo much better than this one on the HD2.
I have both
Even the latest marketplace version isn't great, its better, but not great.
I tend to use the full site in Opera anyhow.

They do have the occasional update to Facebook in the Marketplace, so be sure to keep that in mind.
But, I am betting they are holding off any major updates until WP 7. Most of the development for a lot of the apps on WinMo 6 is stopping and shifting to WP 7. I guess we all shall see how WP 7 pans out by years end. Hopefully MS doesn't let us down!

While for many, this update won't mean much, for others is actually a very important update. Our current gmail app is seriously crippled for some email users, no android management tools, no push notifications plus a more restricted market. I briefly switched and was stunned at the improvements made to the gmail app...eventually had to switch back though because my Battery life took a *HUGE* hit. Samsung/Sprint is really starting to drop the ball IMO.
2.2.1 is still being worked on,,,but the talk around the water cooler is 5-6 months for gingerbread,,,but it will be ported long before then.

Who cares, use DK28. It works great and has the best battery life I have ever seen on a smart phone. Most recently, from a full charge with calls, texts, internet browsing, emailing, facebook, and over an hour of angry birds I got 31 hours of use before I put it on the charger at 6%. I used it the whole day, left it off the charger for the night and used it the next day just to see how long it would last. If they are making these kind of improvements I an very happy with the progress and they can have as much time as needed.

Are you trying to say that is the release date? If so, you just destroyed your own credibility because they would never release a huge update on a holiday. No one wants to be stuck with a broken phone on Christmas sitting on hold for tech support. They most likely have less staff working too, which would just compound the problems.
funy thing is I dont care if you think its credible,Im putting it out there,if Im flammed Im flammed...And to clarify what my info is,12/20 is when they want to have RC2 ready for .4 version test phones, the window is mostly 5 days for bugs to be reported, now we are looking at 12/25-26,then if it is given the ok,it will roll out before the end of the year as expected, not everyone will get the OTA the first day.So I cant say when you will get it,only when they expect it to be done....And if you follow my trail, posted exactly when DK28 would hit 3 weeks before,I said 26-29. And Ive said this before,DK28 was supposed to be final with an update 2 weeks after the roll out to fix any unseen bugs.I mentioned this here and on SDX,does that seem credible enough for you?

Yeah and it's HORRIBLE. I had a date with a really cute girl who just so happened to be the daughter of one of my colleagues, and I was texting my buddy about her, she got one of my texts to him and cancelled the date on me. To make matters worse, she told her dad and he made a comment to me about it. Now, I'm always nervous about sending private texts to people for fear that they are going to go to someone else. It is completely inexcusable and needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY.
Both issues are "inexcusable"
Although I will tell you that I've NEVER had the issue with ANY SMS program besides the stock one.

Has anybody even experienced the SMS bug? Only 1.5% of users are experiencing this which equates to approximately 4,500. This is stemming from the daily 250,000 android activations so the bug is not THAT big of a deal. I think the press is the only reason Google hyped up it's urgency level. I don't even think it's a bug. I've noticed with a lot of android phones if you switch persons too quick in your messaging apps it picks the wrong person, which you wont notice and is where the whole sending to the wrong person goes.

Wouldn't discount its a "bug" but I also think its starting to get blown out of proportion. All of a sudden everyone has had an experience with a random girl and their boss / work colleague something dirty. Hah I don't doubt that its real, but the length at which this was "around" and now all if a sudden **** is raining hell fire. Don't discount its validity but maybe its severity. Without a doubt the Epic 4g is definitely the most impressive piece of hand-held hardware I have owned to date. I am a long time HTC user and I can promise I will [probably] never go back. There is no other phone on the market that I would rather have for the uses that I use it for. I made my decision wisely after a lot of research. So with that being said, why in the world is so many people so up in arms and worked up over not getting a 2.2 update? Do you really need flash that bad on your phone? If you're spending that much time using flash sites then why not man up and buy yourself a decent netbook? Seriously I don't understand. The only reason I have ever been upset that I didn't have flash was when I was unable to masturbate to my normal free porn site, and instead had to find a mobile version. An inconvenience, yes, but not to the extreme that I cursed samsung. Besides it's much better to have two hands free (for some of us anyway).
So what is it? You want to brag to the girls at the bar that your Epic can do more mflops than a Amsterdam prostitute? Someone please enlighten me here. My experience with 2.1 has been super smooth, responsive, and no app I can throw at will slow it down. In real world use what is the benefit of 2.2? Oh yeah it would be nice to have the new gmail app with the return/forward at the top instead of the bottom, true, but what else?
If you weren't tied to your phone's benchmark like it was the size of your peni$, what seriously is the Epic 2.1 lacking that a 2.2 update would fix?
edit: Keep an eye out for my new rom: Better than froyo. Completely Stock with madthumbs mobile bookmark baked in.

I wondered the same thing for a long time. If you need flash so bad then download the adobe flash app.
Now most of us are on the leaked froyo I'm seeing crap about gingerbread. What's so special about that is what I really wanna know.
I get mad lag on my stock 2.1 phone. This is my second Epic since launch and both lagged after about 12 hours of uptime.
I brought this phone in to Sprint and of course it decides to be all snappy for them. >:-| So my only hope is for the better task management FroYo offers will remedy the lag. That said, sure the lack of an update sucks, but I'm not sweating it.

Fine, but seriously... lack of 2.2 is not what kills it for me on this phone... it's the damn screen that's calibrated like ass. Being a photographer, I just have to ask myself... who the f wants to stare at a screen that calibrated to a very cool temp?

Hmmm.... wonder if any Devs know if theres a way to adjust more advanced settings than RGB... thats great, but It would be nice to be able to ISF calibrate this thing, it does have amazing image potential. May even be able to set up profiles for outside, movie, the retarded 'sports' one, oh wait, think its on that... Set up to work well with the lighting at a Sprint store I would assume...
I'd like to be able to use the audio-out function of the expensive factory dock I bought. I'd also appreciate full voice command support.
There is more to Flash than just websites and video. Froyo also gives you the ability to run Adobe Air applications as well as run Flash content. I already have two Air apps that I've been working on that I will be putting on the market once I've got 2.2 on my Epic and can test them myself.
Not to mention that Google has been updating their core apps and some will now require 2.2. I, for one, don't relish the fact that a phone I bought 2 months ago can't run the latest apps.
And please don't tell me to install a custom ROM. I'm new to Android and this is my primary communication device for personal and business use. I'm not really ready to risk screwing it up just yet.
