[Q] have problem over sync via bluetooth - Touch GSM General

hi gays
i can,t connect my device too active sync via bluetooth.my pc is addet to phone bluetooth devices, but 'com ports' page of bluetooth settings is empty and don,t have 'existing port' .so i cant add incoming and outgoing port for connect to pc sync.
i hawe install wm 6.1 ultimate (onyx 4.9) on my htc p3450.how can i solve that problem?it is possible change operation system made it?

What PC OS you using? My friend with Windows Vista having similar problem, but I don't have this problem with Windows 7.

I,m sorry for the subsequence too answer.that is xp sp2.
in my phone on the bluetooth settings/com ports , the "new outgoing port" icon is now showed (after i add other bluetooth mobile phones to my device),but my pc is not found in the devices list of outgoing port page.

Is your PC actually set to visible? Most arent as standard and has to be enabled via settings?

yes,my pc is added to phone devices list and i can send or recive file with bluetooth

Have your tried allowing activesync to connect via com ports? Check which com port your usb is using and select that. Could be worth a go.
(I use win 7 so have windows mobile device centre = easier. Activesync I forget the functions of)

yes friend,i already allowed that, but i have onli 'com1' in com ports in activesync.and when i click on 'connect',it will test that and sayd 'your device is not detected'
i only want too create outgoing port for my phone, and i think it can be worked only i can creat it for pc.
can you give the link of that software u.re used on your coumputer??it can be worked on win xp 32bit??

Hi friend,
I think I read somewhere in Onyx thread that activating "Beam" can solve some connectivity problems...

The software i used is win vista/win 7 version of activesync - works better from my experience and is more intuitive.
Also, in the usb to pc settings there is an option to enable faster connection or something like that. I do not have my elfs with me today to check the exact options - that may help though. I remember using it on my xp machines before when having issues. But again, I do not connect over bluetooth all to often.

finally,I get that the problem is from my bluetooth device
i used from a mini usb bluetooth device (that was plug and play).when i install the windows xp that i used on my pc on the laptab (with internal bluetooth) ,activesynk was working with no problem on that.
it resulted that te plug and play bluetoothes dosent good choices for general applications
thanx from all of friends

thanks for letting us know. I'm honestly not sure why I didn't question that as we get that issue all the time at work.... Its been a long time since I have been in support here though!

Bluetooth help Please!!!

Hi there guys.
I really need some help. I've tried everything but can think of anything else to do anymore.
I have a i-Mate Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003 (not SE). My Desktop PC has got Windows XP with SP2.
I'm trying to send files via Bluetooth from my Desktop PC to my Pocket PC but I get this error message "FTP service not found on target device"
But if I send files via Bluetooth from my Pocket PC to my Desktop PC it works perfectly.
Please guys, if anyone can help me I will appreciate it. I am really tired of taking my SD card out all the time to put it in the card reader or taking the Pocket PC out of the Case and put it in the Cradle.
Thanks in advance.
in my pc bluetooth i can add and remove com ports
when i add com ports i have to deside if they are outgoing or incomming
if i want to send to the xda it would require the port to be outgoing
and of cause the xda would have to have an incomming port enabled
and of cause have turned on recieve beam enabled
try that
Thanks for your help. I get a error that my Pocket PC does not support file transfer.
Can you believe that??
well i havent tried it from a pc but i have tried it from a cellphone and there it worked ok
I don't understand why it doesn't wanna work. My P900 that I had before could send and receive files to and from my Desktop PC via Bluetooth.
Isn't there any software availible that you can install on the Pocket PC for file sharing or file transfer or something?
Where can I go to change my Com ports??
i just tried and it works ok for me
i had a txt file on my desktop and right clicked on it and choosed send to
and picked bluetooth device
and found my pda
and press'd send and my pda said if i wanted to recieve the file and i said yes
i dident add any outgoing com ports
to my bluetooth pc settings
i just turned on my bluetooth on my pda
and made sure i had made it recieve all beam files
Yes, that is how it is supposed to work. But mine doesn't. That's why I say, I can't understand it.
It should be straight forward.
when you go into settings and pick bluetooth settings
have you checked both the inbound com port
and the outbound com port ?
and of cause the Receive all incomming beams in beam under connections
Yes, I did that.
and do you use both the ms bluetooth software on the pc and
use the bluetooth stack on the xda ?
and does stuff like activesync works ?
i'm still on 1.66 rom
and i use ms bluetooth stack
and the driver that xp sp2 auto installed
I don't have the bluetooth stack. Where can I find it?
It's all in the com ports ! Go to pc right click my computer - go properties - hardware - device manager - look for your ports "com " 3/4 the way down page - expand then right click on your 2 ports one at a time - click com port tab then change incoming to com 4 then the same to t e other one but set to com 5 - open active sync - click connection settings clIck on com port 5 then open active sync in ppc tab " connect via bluetooth - should auto fire-up active sync if it does you should now be able to send n recieve ( good luck took me nearly a month to sus it out ) be very wary about the stack thing I dont have it - dont need it xp sp2 handles it fine.......
Looper T
Com ports
On my computer, I found that I would have to terminate the processes WCESMgr.exe and or wcescomm.exe and then go to device manager, Ports, disable Com 7 and 8 (yours may be 4 and 5 etc), re enable them, open up Active sync and then the Com ports were usable again and active sync would work just fine via bluetooth until I had to reboot my computer again.
This may just be my computer though... Or it could be that when the bluetooth and ActiveSync try to get going at boot, the bluetooth virtual com ports are not ready when active sync starts. I also disabled active sync from starting and I continue to block it's attempts to get back in the start up in the registry. Both Spybot, www.spybot.info , and Lavasoft's Ad Watch, www.lavasoft.de , will do that.

Have u ticked the "receive all incoming beams" in the settings->connections tab ? Cos if u unticked that, u will not receive any files from any computer or smartphone.
...
This is the problem with the MS Bluetooth stack. This software has no FTP service. I've installed the Broadcomm BT stack and now it's working except 1 thing described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=173928#173928
You can send any file via BT from your computer with ActiveSync. Normally make a AS connection via BT and simply browse your device on a PC. Or you can send it also without AS. Just click on My BT Places on your desktop, open your paired Himalaya and drag-and-drop your file to this opened window. You need to be in discoverable mode and the beams-receiving is turned on on your PDA.

Magician ActiveSync via Bluetooth - Please Help Help Help

Hi everybody...
I know this has been posted be4... but I have searched the forum a lot, with no luck..
searched howardforums too.. no luck too...
even in bengalboy web site, but his guide did not work.... every time I try to connect to my pc I get disconnected..
I wish to sync vis M$ stack... not Bluesoeilfor the JAM
I has MSI BT dongle, Toshibal BT stack on PC, M$ BT stack on JAM
*PS: does anybody know how to install M$ BT on PC... I have Win XP pro SP2.. and I think it should have built in.. but when I uninstall Toshiba's Stack.. I can get anything!!!
please help...some basic what to do....
I really appreciate it
duke911: do you want to explain what you've done so far on the PC.
That PDA should be fine, it's quite easy to setup
(read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=144696#144696)
However, on the PC: you've installed the hardware, have your bluetooth dongle working, and have successfully paired your PDA?
V
Thanks vijay555 for the swift reply
The dongle works fine, pairs and everything...
but when I plugged it for the first time.. it was not recognized by my PC... aparenely there were no drive for BT.. so I installed the Toshiba's stack bundled with the dongle.
Here is what I have done:
first I tried bengalboy guide here ( although i dislike his website a lot )
http://www.bengalboy.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4&forum=8
but every time I finish and I press Connect Via Bluetooth in Active Sync PPC... I see the opening port message etc.. but I don't get connected..
after that.. Toshiba's Stack on my PC started to act weired... first when I paired with the JAM.. I get three services: SPP, DUN, Push Object
but after a while.. SPP just disappeared...
Then I uninstalled the driver.. reinstall.. same problem..
uninstall.. tried ( Add Hardware Wizard in PC ) to try Microsoft Stack.. but it did recognize the dongle...
please vijay555.. can you tell me how to install the original stack from Microsoft on my PC???
Thanx in advance
duke911: I'm actually using the blue soleil stack that came with my ebay dongle. I vaguely remember there being an enormous effort getting that to install, for marginal benefit. I'm in the office right now, but if you still need help later I can see if they'll help you out, when I get home later.
But try reading through some of the blue soleil threads on this board, I think they discuss the relative benefits of the various stacks floating around on the board. Blue Soleil works for me, but frankly, bluetooth is the kind of thing you shouldn't have to think about, it should just work, right!? Those threads might also discuss uninstalling any other stack. If you've not made major changes, have you considered using System Restore on your PC to roll back to before installing the dongle?
V
OK.. I have done every thing you can imagine.... it now 2 am... I have been trying to figure out how do this since 3 pm... and no luck
I tried installing the dongle on a different PC with XP SP1... also no luck.. no M$ driver... so I installed Toshiba's...
after that I restored my JAM using a sprite back up to a different time... how knows maybe i messed a lot since 3 pm
after that i did the following:
1. in PPC: went to Start>Settings>System> Bluetooth Settings then choose Incoming COM and pressed Start in the middle of the page..
2. paired with PC.. no problems.. PS: PPC did not say that my PC supports SPP
3. on PC.. choose the same COM port that Toshiba uses for SPP ( which is COM 8 ) in my case..
4. from PPC tried to Sync.. and then I get this message in Active Sync in PC
5. If I choose different COM port for AS.. I get the usual message on my PPC ( connecting to Host ) but I get nothing
PS: I'm using Active-Sync 4.1 on the another PC... while the previous uses v 3.8
please vijay555 help me out here... my head is about to explode
Problem Solved.... 8)
Will post instruction tomorrow.. step by step.. for newbies...
thanks vijay555 for you help
OK here is the thing...
the trick is to chooses the same COM port for you Serial Port Profile for both : PC bt stack & Active-Sync... i.e. both use COM 7 or 8 ..etc
second.. you should pair your PPC with PC.. and create an Outgoing COM from your PPC...
a picture is worth a thousand words.. check this GIF
cheers
hey duke what did you do? i've been trying to get m jam to sync for agees without any luck! i'm starting to think that it might be the usb dongle that i'm using on my laptop! bout to go buy a new one so any tips you can offer would be great
do the following:
1. make sure PC bluetooth stack uses the same port for SPP as well as Active-Sync i.e. Both COM 8
2. on PPC: go to Start>Settings>System then choose Bluetooth Settings... and then tick outbound COM Port..
3. a pop up message will show.. click OK then you'll be take to BT manager.. you have to make sure you device is discoverable... then pair with your laptop.. after you finish.. go to COM Ports in BT manager... and create a new outgoing COM port...
4. go to Active-Sync in PPC and then choose tools>Connect via Bluetooth
that's it.. and I guess the gif will prove helpful
cheers
Ok, here's another manual. You have to follow each step precisely!
In your bluetooth manager on the PC, check for your incoming serial bluetooth port. This is the com port number which is shown under Local services or incoming services. If your COM port number is above 10, ask what to do then - ActiveSync doesn't work with COM ports above No 10.
Go to the ActiveSync settings on your PC and set the check box for the serial port. Select the one that was shown in the blueototh settings as incoming BT port.
On your Pocket PC, go to the Bluetooth settings. Select both checkboxes for the incoming and outgoing COM Port.
There you press start, go to your bluetooth device list and delete an existing pairing to the PC to which you want to connect to. Then re-pair the PPC with the computer again.
Afterwards, you can go to ActiveSync on your PPC and select "Connect via Bluetooth ...". That's it.
[/list]
hey dandie! what do i do if my pc assigns a com port of 11 and higher for my jam? i've tried the "show hidden" under device manger but my pc still keeps assigning a com port of 11 and higher?!
help
thanks
The COM port of PC and PPC DOESN'T have to be match. (No matter what BT stack you are using) In fact
Com port on Magician is FIXED at Com 5 and there is nothing to configure regarding the Com port over there.
On the PC, the BT stack choose whatever free com port them for serial connection. (eg: The blue soleil stack will tell you which com port is using in the pops up message when U BT activesync yr PPC to yr PC)
Then File > Connection Setting and select that port on yr PC's activesync.
(Sometimes, U have to try it serveral times to get activesync working)

activesync via bluetooth

Hi all,
I have a toshiba portege r200 and I'm simply not able to set up ActiveSync to work through bluetooth. The darn computer only sees my phone as a modem.
I have no clue how to do this.
I really cant' see why this has to be so hard. Both units are running stupid microsoft software. Whey the can't microsoft think that people migh want to connect their ppc's to their laptops via bt and just make it work easily?
Please, someone help.
thanks

I agree 100% that this should be easier. But I think ActiveSync is actually a service that the laptop offers, not the phone. So on the phone, go to your BT manager, select your laptop, and then select services. ActiveSync should be one of the choices. After that, you should be able to connect to ActiveSync via BT, but I think you need to initiate the connection from your phone.
Activesync via Bluetooth
1. Install Active sync
2. Connect phone to USB cable and computer and let active Sync run once.
3. Disconnect USB cable.
4. On your Computers Bluetooth software (add a com port) before you detect the phone (very important).
5. On Active Sync on Computer click "connection Settings" and make sure it is using your com port from step 4.
6. Turn on discovery on your computer.
7. On your Phone go to Bluetooth / devices / New and select your computer enter pin on phone and PC.
8. Go to Active Sync on your phone and click "Connect via Bluetooth."
Hope this helps.
thank you all for your input.
i tried everything you guys suggested and it's still not working. my comp only offers a serial connection. is that ok? it has this toshiba bluetooth software on it not the original windows kind.
when i choose connect via bluetooth on my ppc's activesync it sais there's no computer that supports bt.
any ideas?
thanks again
I have Toshiba Bluetooth control software as well. I am certain it's the incorrect or incomplete BT COM port setting on your PC. A few findings (on my notebook) to share, hope this helps.
1. I have a "Bluetooth Local COM" applet on Control Panel
2. By opening "Bluetooth Local COM" applet I have a list of PORTS
3. The CORRECT port I HAVE TO use IS
"COM7 Toshiba BT Port (COM7) LocalCOM-Server[SerialPort(TOSHIBA LOcalCOM)]
NOT
"COM6 Toshiba BT Port (COM6) LocalCOM-Client"
4. If you don't find the Server COM port, do "create a Bluetooth virtual COM port for a Server"
5. Of course enable by checking the "Connection Settings" "allows connections to one of the following COM#" (7 in my case)
After this, try the steps I suggested. Initiate BT Activesyn from your PDA phone.
Good luck.
Hi,
Thanks for all your effort.
I did what you said and it's still not working.
When I'm trying to connect from my phone via bluetooth it satill sais it cannot find existing blueooth partnership with a pc that supports activesync.
what am i doing wrong?
Thanks

Phat!! This works for me with my Acer laptop and Bluetooth connection, thanks man!
Sweet, took a few tries, but works like a charm.
Thanks
Bump
I just wanted to bump this to say thanks for posting the bit about using the LocalCOM-Server[SerialPort(TOSHIBA LOcalCOM)] port instead of the client port. Trying to get AS working using the Toshiba stack was driving me around the bend!
My pleasure
I've learned a lot from this wonderful board from a lot of wonderful people. Glad to be part of it!
You're the MAN
Thanks. This also worked for my Cingualr 8125. Many hours wasted. Glad I found this post. Thanks for your help.
this worked on my cingular 8125 as well, zsizsi i think you may have to delete all partnerships that were previously created with handheld on your pc and handheld. if that dosent work then in bluetooth settings go to options and under general tab check box "PAN networking service" that is just something i did while creating partnership not sure if it helps
The only thing that worked for me after 4 days of messing with it was to do a cold boot.
The first thing I did after the boot was to follow the instructions. Voila! ActiveSync magically appeared.
Hi all,
I have exactly the same problem with my qtek9100 and my IBM T43 Laptop.
I tried many times but....still not working!
As zsizsi if I try to make a relationship via PDA, it asks me the pairing key, and I'm blocked.
If I go through PC, I can do pairing, in the services I flag activesync, I configure the same com port that I have on AS (com 8) and when I0'm in the bluetooth wizard on the PDA, related to the PC I can only see 3 services:
hands free
remote connection
serial port
no activesync service to flag.
If I try then with the PDA Menu>BT connection it aswer that there is no relationship with PC supporting AS!!!!What the hell!
The only thing I see is that in my BT config in the local server the BT wizard creates a serial port named My activesync......
I have tried also your suggestion but.....

thank you soo much for that info...enabling the "PAN networking service" finally allowed me to connect with my toshiba qosmio laptop
If the devices are paired... You have to select a service for the pda BT connection
Only when you manage to select the servive Activesync (a comport has to be valid assingd) then a connectin can be astablished.
In active sync you must assign a com port.
See the manual in activesync BT
Yes, I can guess it.
The rpoblem is that the devices are paired, the activesync service is flagged in the PC (while I do the automatic pairing devices withn a wizard).
But I can't still see the service in my PDA.
I can only find:
Hands free
Serial port
remote connection
No activesync service on the PDA relation wizard...
Any other suggestion?
Another issue.
When I look in my BT services, I can't find an activesync service, but only an icon (com plug) called My activesync.
Look at the properties of this icon I can only flag automatic/manual and Secure/unsecure connection, and there is the window manu to select the com port (that is the same selected in Activesync settings).
Is that correct, or I should find a specific activesync icon (like PIM syncronizing ....)
Blinks....

How to Activesync using bluetooth?

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to sync my trinity with a laptop using bluetooth, but it seems imposible 'til now. Has anybody been able to?
It seems there's not pim service on the p3600, also creating a com connection doesn't work...
Any idea or howto???
Thanks in advance.
You'll need to set up your ActiveSync (AS) in your PC to point to the port which your Bluet is using. After that, use your phone to 'discover' your PC and you should have AS service for your Bt in PC.
You mean...
In Bluetooth configuration on the pc I have COM9 assigned to bluetooth Serial Port and COM8 for ActiveSync. So you say I have to set as incoming serial port COM8 in P3600??
Configure the AS to use COM9 (in your case).
Thanks
But still no luck, it seems to be connected but activesync says there's no device in that port, I'm afraid it's a compatibility problem between my laptop bluetooth drivers and P3600 ones.
Anyway thanks for your help, I'll keep on trying...
Probably you can init a sync from PC, but the one I tried is to initialize a sync from my PPC. Once you have AS to use serial of your BT, then while discovering services (or pairing) from you PPC, your PPC should show that there is AS service on the PC. Start your AS on your PPC and sync.
I had a bit of trouble but I've sorted it out now, this is what I did:
1. Uninstall any bundled software and drivers that came with your dongle.
2. Stick the dongle in, and let Windows automatically install the drivers.
3. Make your PC "discoverable" through the bluetooth control panel.
4. Create an incoming port, and take note of the port number
5. In ActiveSync on your PC, go to connection settings and enable a connection through that port.
5. On your phone, go to ActiveSync and select "connect via bluetooth"
6. It will say that you need to establish a partnership or something, press ok, and find your PC, when the services dialogue comes up, select "ActiveSync".
7. Try pressing connect via bluetooth again and it should work!

Hi
What kind of software are you using microsoft widcomm or bluesoleil.

activesync not working through bluetooth

Hi,
do you know why my HD2 can sync only when plugged with usb cable and not with bluetooth? It has been correctly paired with my Win7 ultimate, but there is an ! on it in the device manger saying that no blueottoth device drivers has been loaded!
thank a lot in advance
M
I also get the device not recognised problem, but that's only for one part of the bluetooth stack - can't remember quite what it's for. Regardless, I am able to pair and use active sync with my 2 Windows 7 machines OK. I do have to use the active sync application on the phone to do it though - I can't just pair the devices then run active sync.
In the device center you have the possibility to setup your connection settings. Go to settings - connection settings - leave USB ticked - in the next connection possibility change bluetooth into com5 or com6 and you're ready to go.
I have kinda the same problem with Win XP and my HD2.
- I successfully paired the PC (Dell D820) and the Leo.
- I can successfully exchange files from the PC to the HD2 via bluetooth - but not the other way round (Leo says the PC does not support this ).
- I can successfully sync the Leo to the PC via USB cable.
- When I try to sync via bluetooth, HD2 says that the PC "does not offer any service that can be used with ActiveSync".
- Leo has incoming Bluetooth port set at COM1.
- XP has Bluetooth ports set at COM1 (incoming) and COM3 (outgoing).
Anyone out there has a clue?
Thanks.
I had to set com7 to make it work
I simply leave WMDC set to use "Bluetooth" and it works fine. Check that, then on the phone select the pc, in the BT manager, menu-> update, it should rediscover activesync and list activesync.
Hi,
I am facing the very same problem, please help...
Same problem here with Windows XP. Pairing is ok, discovering Activesync service fail. I never had this with my previous PDA.

I didn't see your particular case was under XP, sorry.
But still, same went for XP, except replacing "WMDC" by "Activesync", and select the outgoing COM port your PC has assigned to the HD2 instead of "Bluetooth". NOT the one your HD2 shows as incoming.
Thanks for the clarification Kilrah (I didn't mean to be rude, I was just in a hurry).
Anyway, I tried as you said (which I had already done, but tried again just in case). No success with Bluetooth sync.
Guess I'll stick to the USB cable and wait till June when my new laptop comes in with Win7 and try again.
Too bad though. Bluetooth sync worked like a charm with my old Nokia. So far, this is the only major disappointment in 2 months with my HD2. Maybe it's because ActiveSync itself is a crappy app?
