if you can access bootloader mode, then you can flash back to the stock rom. if you are having connection troubles with your pc, you can also flash back using the sd card method: extract the shipped rom (it's a self extracting exe, with 7zip or winrar, you can right click and extract) and inside you find ruu_signed.nbh, rename that to BLACIMG.nbh and copy it to the sd card. then in bootloader mode, it should show up and give you further instructions.

Ok but the screen is steel dead.any idea.

well, if you finished to flash back your stock rom, radio and spl, and the touch screen still doesn't work, it is apparently one of those cases, where a hardware issue appears at a very strange time, but back to stock, you are ready to get it repaired using the warranty, so it'll probably be free.

Newbie: cannot install Hard SPL for love nor money help!!!

Before anyone ask's I have read all the posts regarding installing the Hard SPL but still have the same problem.
When I connect through Vista 32 via WMDC it recognizes my device fine, I then follow the steps in the tutorials but as soon as I press the button to update the ROM image it goes into the 3 colour screen and then into the updating ROM progress bar were it sits at 0% for ever.
My WMDC has disconnected at this stage and then I get a screen saying communication error which is obvious as WMDC has disconnected.
Is this a WMDC issue/ Vista or am I missing something
I then have to soft reset and it just re boots into my standard ROM.
Any advice woiuld be greatly appreciated
hello
1) connect your polaris to PC
2) run update utility
3) when you see 3 color screen unplug USB and replug it immediately
4) your SPL flash may start
5) when flash end correctely your polaris reboot
6) Flash any ROM you want
Thanks for the quick reply.
Tried doing exactly as you have stated.
Unplug and reconnect in the 3 colour bar screen, after which it goes into the updating screen and sits at 0% for ages until communication error comes up.
My WMDC has disconnected and does not reconnect.
I'm at my wits end!!
Do it from MicroSD, before format it in FAT 32, after rename the file .nbh in POLAIMG.nbh e copy in your microSD, put microSD in Polaris e put it in bootloader ( photo + softreset ) you will see something like IPL, bootloader, SPLASH1, SPLASH2, gsm & OS, press POWER button and wait, it might be long,
never put off microSD, when it finishes soft reset, in the same way you can flash any ROM, always format microSD before.

I think hard-spl can not be installed with sdcard method!
Why not ??? With Trinity you can do it.
cheers guy's for the feedback ,but not sure about the SD method unless someone can confirm it works for Orbit 2/ Cruise.
Somebody out there must have had the same issue as me regards this....what did you do to resolve.
Cheers

But this is not Trinity...Try it...
I know You can flash polaris if you use jumpspl (this is used by hard-spl flash) or hard-spl (this is used by os and radio flash).
But if you have original spl on you pda, and you want to flash with sd card, you will not use nor jumpspl neither hard-spl.

hi there.
try to hard spl with your sd card not in the device.
go in to bootloader mode (BL mode - by pressing down the Camera button, then using the stylus, press and hold the RESET button at the bottom of the phone and release when tricolor screen appears),
now connect the device to your pc (it should show usb in the white part)
flash what you may... hard spl first, oli's recomended by me.
ItayE,
Did you try the hard-spl flash with sd method? Does it work?
I didn't read it was Vista compliant so I ran it from a windows XP SP2 machine with Active Sync 4.5.
I did mine by taking out the SIM card and the SD Card then resettting and running the HardSPL.
HTH

Cheers for the advice guys I have managed to do it.
I used the Hard-SPL-V2 first which worked fine then I flashed to one of A.Serg roms, very nice and quick it is too.
However my reception bars are down to 2 from 4 that I previously had, although the reception seems ok.
Sim: O2 UK
Rom: 1.52.ASerg.4 WWE
The radio version I have is: 1.58.25.14
Now this is were I am confused.
Can I flash the radio Rom without affecting the o/s Rom, I have downloaded a couple of radio rom versions but not sure if you do it the same way as I am scared of over writing something.
Also could anybody advise if they are in UK on O2 which version gives best reception.
Any further advice much appreciated.

First off, what rom are you currently running? Second, which rom are you flashing to? Is your device Hard Spl'd? Which method are you using to flash? (uspl or hard spl?) I was running the stock tmobile rom, and I used the uspl method to flash to open touch 3.0. When I tried to go from 3.0 to 5.0, I got that same error 202 message at like 2%. Sometimes you have to enable advanced networked through the start/settings/usb to pc. I decided to hard spl my phone and hard no problems since flashing to any rom. I would recommend it, but definitely do some reading before you do. You can brick your phone. Oh, and yes, you can flash from your memory stick, but your phone has to be hard spl'd first.

So is your phone hard spl'd? If it is then you can do the memory stick method. Here are the steps.
To flash via hardSPL method:
1) Place extracted .nbh file into root of microSD card
2) rename file to HERAIMG.nbh
3) Place into bootloader (hold camera button while doing soft reset)
4) continue to hold camera button untill white screen with instructions appears
5) slide the volume button down to begin flash
6) don't touch anything until it's done, then follow on-screen instructions

(UN)Hard SPL and generic rom. What do you think i should do?

Hey folkes
I dropped my phone yesterday. First the display would'nt show anything but this morning tha display worked fine but the touch does'nt work so i need to send it to the servicepartner that my provider uses.
Should i (un) hard spl and install a generic rom? Is there anything else i should do so they cant se that i used non generic roms?
/A from now on a Nokia N95 user again :-(
Yes, definitely.
Flash a generic ROM back on first, then flash the original SPL back.
I just hope you can do it without the touch facility working.

You can do this from a computer with the RUU so there isn't a problem I guess.
Good luck dude!
If I were you, I try first to make a hard reset in order to see if touch is really dead or not...
Can i put back the stock SPL with the micro SD card? The problen now is that i cant run the RUU becurse i can't configure my device. I am pretty much stuck at "Tap the screen to configure your device" I knew before that i could get stuck here but i was able to flash the stock rom anyway after the hardreset.
But when i try to put the stock SPL back the RUU says "Connection error"
So my onlu option at this point is if this works with the micro SD method.
Any experience anyone?

You can still run RUU, but make sure you flash the stock rom first.
To get RUU to work, start your x1 in boot loader mode (turn it off, then press and hold both power and volume down until the tri colour screen comes up), now connect your phone to your pc with the usb cable and run the RUU.

If you can go into bootloader screen (the four color screen), you still can uninstall HSPL. First off, turn off your phone. Then, press the volume down button AND the power on button, AT THE SAME TIME, until the four color screen appear (bootloader screen).
Now, connect your device to your PC, and wait until the text "Serial" change to "USB" (you should see it at the white color part)
Now, run HSPL 4 from your PC. Dont forget to turn off Anti Virus, Firewall, Internet Connection, Screen saver and your battery must be at least 50%. And if you are on Vista or win 7, run as an Administrator. If for some reason, Serial doesnt change to USB, you unplug it and try different USB port (try the rear USB port)
Now, you can choose which HSPL you want to remove.
Alternatively, you can erase HSPL using Micro SD Method.
Download your CORRECT STOCK ROM. Extract it, and find the fie named : RUU_signed.nbh . Rename it to : leoimg.nbh. Copy this file to the root of your SD Card. Before copy it, it is advisable to format the sd card using card reader and dont put other files except leoimg.nbh file.
Now go into bootloader screen as mentioned earlier. And follow the instruction screen.
Done.
Goodluck
Did you fix it??
Same problem here.
Give me some advice.
Thanks in advance!

Possibly a radio problem. Boot pressing volume down button to get into bootloader and flash a radio WITHOUT .51. in its name....
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
thanks, already did... and it works.. )))
hey i have that same problem now can you help me get a radio so i can download it or can even help me through the steps to get back my phone to normal plzzz.? thank you
Any new user most definitely has a lot of questions...
Here is a thread you should carefully check - it explains some basic stuff, and it offers links to many other specific threads, incl. Radio ROM.
To return to "normal" ROM, please just check the standard flashing process. You can flash via USB or SD card, whatever ROM you like, stock or custom.
Hey man thanks for all that but i really don't want just any rom, i wanna know if anyone can get me the rom that comes with the phone for windows mobile 6.5, you know with the orange load screen etc, i really dummy in this thing and i should not of even played fast to go try flashing my HTC HD2 with a MAGDLR111.
so i've tried various roms and everyone of them was going great unitl step 2 in the upgrade process, it kept saying error filr open, check update rom utility. where do i go from here?
It is quite difficult to help if there is so little basic information available.
The error you mention can have a simple reason. Usually, the ROM image file name is simply not correct.
To flash via USB:
There are 2 options:
First, you can take an original RUU of your network operator (in case you have a branded phone) or HTC, put the phone into boot loader mode (see below), start the RUU.exe on your PC.
Second, you can extract the original RUU.exe with WinRar or a similar program, take the .nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh.
Once you take an image of the ROM, you have to put it into the very same folder where your ROM update software is (LeoCustomRUU, SSPL, whatever). One more time, please check the suffix, it should be .nbh, as in "leoimg.nbh".
Keep in mind: Do start the RUU software as "Admin" - whichever you choose.
Instead of the original ROM, you can flash custom ROMs, too - since your device must have HSPL installed when you used WP7 or Android before.
If you´ve got issues (because of Win 7 on your PC or such), please try to put your device into bootloader mode before connectint it to the PC (turn off the device, push vol. down and power at the same time, the multi color bootscreen should appear, only now connect it to the PC).
To flash via SD card:
Re-format your SD card FAT32. Don´t put anything else on it. Copy the ROM image file with the exact naming as above on the SD card.
To start the flash process, do the same as above, go into bootloader mode, the flash process will start - just follow the on-screen instructions.
i have this same problem only it happened without me flashing anything or something like that. i dont have custom rom or hspl. everything is stock. what should i do?
bump ^^
