I woke up this morning i my screen glass was boken (i dont remember how 'cause i was too dunk ) ..
well, the thing is ... are those replacement screen on ebay like the original, i mean super amoled ???
is there a way to replace only the glass and not the whole screen? anyone know where to buy only the glass?
thanks a lot ...
The replacements are LCD. The reason you have to replace them is because you can't seperate the glass from the OLED. Maybe getting so drunk wasn't worth it?

Im sorry, your wrong. They aren't LCD replacements. They are SAMOLED screens. I just put my replacement in friday. The one i got from ebay was OEM and works and fits perfectly.
Also, getting drunk is ALWAYS worth it.
how much money do the replacements run for?
ebay links?

$55 - $100
So this screen replaces the glass front as well.
Not that i have damaged mine ( touch wood) but always good to know.
That's one reason why you shouldn't get drunk!

You're 100% sure they're AMOLED? Whatever the case I don't think breaking a phone is worth it to get super hammed. If you're so inclined to get hammered maybe you should leave your phone at home because having broken your screen just cost you 2-3 bottles of some Grey Goose...

Im 100% certain that the screen i got is SAMOLED. But i still need to find a home button
i have replaced the screen on my galaxy s, the screens advertised on ebay are infact super amoled screens, they are advertised as LCD is just a simple mistake (i remember picking one up around £30). The original screen is attached to the phone with a double side sticky tape! You'll just have to rip it out but when you get to the home button you have to carefully separate the ribbons for the touch sensitive buttons which are attached to the glass. Then its just a matter of sticking everything back in place and jobs a goodin'
There is a guide on youtube on disassembly which is simple, the rest you have to figure out yourself.
thanks for the reply's ...
but i still have one doubt ..
since the front glass covers the whole front of the phone, maybe it's not the same glass of the screen .. could be an aditional glass above the screen .. or not?
im telling this because my screen broke just 2 or 3 millimiters above the menu button and 1 o 2 mm bellow the screen ...
so, maybe i don't have to replace the whole screen system ....
do you know about a case replacement? maybe that could have the front glass ...
i'll post some pictures of my broken screen when i have the chance ...
thanks ...

You will have to replace the whole screen/SAMOLED assembly as they are expoxied together. The SAMOLED is so thin that removing it will ultimately damage it.
It is indeed a very stupid design from Samsung with the screen going all the way down around the home button. It has made the glass very vulnerable there and practically all screen cracks start there.
Does anyone have any idea on where i can get a home button. I dont need the ribbon cable and sensors just the physical peice of plastic that is the button itself. I am realy desprate.

looks like your digitizer is broken.
however in the link that Dharkaron had posted (http://www.cellulardr.com/products.php?cat=513), there is replacement screen for around $180, it should contain digitizer in it, but i would check before purchase.
if thats a digitizer only, it should not spread, but you are in risk of damaging your lcd display. (not really relevant if you cant get digitizer by itself though)
Sorry but it looks more like your protection sheet is broken try to take that of maybe it will help ;-)
screen protector u mean? no its not tht I checked tht already how can the protector break its not solid ...so digitizer for $180 that expensive I rather wait for some time and get a new one
well, its the whole screen for 180, but it does not say that it does come with digitizer, so it actually maybe wiyhout one, that is why i would check, digitizer for my old sony was around 100 and it was only digitizer, without lcd, so i would wait and see if you can find digitizer by itself (as long as it is actually separate part and not integrated somehow with lcd...) good luck on your hunt.
@WvaanWaas
screeen protector, as like piece of elastic transparent film broken that way? very unlikely my friend.

There is no way to tell how long it will work. Could work for a day, could work for a year. Chances of further cracks? There is always a chance a crack will get bigger as it's subjected to day to day use. Also, please don't bump your own post, especially after less than a day of waiting. We have lives and don't sit here just to answer people's questions.
This link is just the digitizer, like i said prices seem high to me.

it is digitizer also known as touch screen, faceplate thats whats around (black frame) digitizer/touchscreen is not there, and that is what failed in yours. digitizer/touch screen.
this will not fix the problem: http://www.cellulardr.com/G1FaceplateBlk.htm

The glass of the digitizer is broken my friend. Your screen protector should be intact. The LCD should most likely be intact but there no way of telling it 100% by looking at those pictures even though they were good. It doesn't look that bad but it will most likely get worse. Just use gently contact and do not press the screen. You may notice that the digitizer may not respond exactly like before but pretty good. Now there's a bigger risk your LCD will get broke as well if it is subject to heavy pressure.

No the faceplate is just the plastic frame around/above the digitizer. You need the digitizer. Unfortunately CellularDR doesn't sell the digitizer itself but instead they have package of the faceplate+digitizer. That part including many others are out of stock looking at their site.
r4yd3n -> I don't know where you live but if you live in the US or Canada you should be able to order repair parts however if I were you I would send it in. Remember, Cellulardr have strict rules of not shipping outside USA and Canada (Confirmed in email) except probably if you're an american/canadian working overseas.
well the touch screen is still working like before I am surprised ...no effect of broken digitizer on the touch screen

(Still fully funtional)
I say leave it till its necessary to get a new one. And rather than buy replacement parts for an arm and a leg, you can send it back to t-mobile for like $110 (provided you have insurance. But honestly, a broken screen isn't that big a deal if it's fully funtional. And my screen is way more f*cked up than yours
ohh yea urz is way too much cracked then my screen ...ok so I will continue to use it and wait for something better.
Good News Google G1 Digitizer Only Now available
Good news guys I just noticed that www.cellulardr.com now sells the Tmobile Google G1 Window Lens with Digitizer only at a lower price: http://www.cellulardr.com/G1Digitizer.htm
They don't have a picture yet so just to be sure I called them and confirmed that this is the correct part. Basically this is the Window Lens Glass with the Touch Screen Digitizer and has the Flex Cable attached to it. It does not include the LCD but I understand that most people that have broken their phone, have only damaged this part.
Hope this helps you guys.
P.S. They told me that they have a limited quantity in stock so if you really need it, jump on it.
so.. my screen glass has been broked.
I bought the phone through the UK (im from Israel) and not through a carrier.
so im screwed.. you think a private store could fix my glass? i mean things are pretty bad.. the screen is STILL showing everything..
but the glass is broken badly.. even the capcitive button is broken and there is a crack that shows the led light of the front buttons...
do you think its fixable? I'm aware it will cost alot and I dont care that it wil..
the question is, is it fixable?
and if its.. wont they put a regular glass instead of gorilla glass? i will loss glass toughness huh..?

Does the screen still responsive to touch in spite of the damage? If yes, probably you just need to fix a new glass. On eBay for an iphone it costs around £15-30 to fix it (service included). If it's not responsive to touch then you have to change another piece (digitizer) which is more expensive, around £75-150 for SGS2 (without the service).
Check on eBay for "i9100 screen lcd digitizer" or hit the link
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_trkp...d+digitizer&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_sop=2&_sc=1
Of course, as you'll have to pay the service in Israel, you should know the average price for this in your region better than me.
It can definitely be repaired, so don't worry too much.
Good luck!
PS.: Don not worry too much about the gorilla glass either, as your gorilla glass wasn't so tough, was it? Anyway, it is possible that the replacement is a gorilla as well, who knows...

It's really easy to replace the screen yourself. You have to change the whole glass and screen as they are bonded together.

I could be wrong but isnt the glass on the SAMOLED consturction a part of a whole thing? I mean you can have the glass just replaced you need to get the entire screen, I see a lot of people posting spare screens on the other thread, quality is of question though if its a real SAMOLED Plus or just a Class A replacement.
yea the touch is working just fine..
just worried about the fact that there are cracks where i can see the light of the buttons coming out....
I hope it can be fixed... hopefully with gorilla glass...

I can't read Hebrew but I'm guessing since they sell phones in Israel they probably have an authorized repair center there. Take it to them and at least your warranty will remain intact.

you probably sat down, or ran. causing your pants to squeeze the key and the phone against your leg. This exerts more force than you realize. I have the Black tie protection plan on my CAPTIVATE from best buy, I Cracked the screen in half against some stairs because of poor gps reception. one hand on the top one on the bottom of the phone, battery cover off, and PUSH!!!!!, however before it was in two, i took my house keys and tried to scratch the glass without any luck untill about 30lbs of force then light scratches started to appear. i have not put keys in my pocket with my cell phone since my Samsung B7610 Pro got F'ed badly even with a screen protector. keys+phone+pocket+sitting/running=scratches
So in a week or two I am going to replace the screen on my T-mo HD2. It's perfectly fine, except that end call button issue, and it's bugging me enough that I want to replace it. After I do that, should I get the screen Ghost Armored? My current screen is almost scratchless after months of use, but in the upcoming months, I'll be traveling to DC then China, so I don't want to risk scratching it up.
SO, my question is..
1. Is the Ghost Armor worth the $25 or however much it is?
2. Is there any good alternatives to Ghost Armor I should know about?
3. Is the HD2's screen scratch resistant enough that I should go without any protection?
Thanks for any advice!
12months without protection & like new.
25bucks no way, can buy digi for that, perhaps a cheap screen protector while travelling! don't like them myself on glass screens ...

I am not sure why the button issue leads to a replacement of an almost scratchless, perfectly working screen? But if I were to get a new screen, $25 for a protector is way too much, personally I use mirrored protectors at about $1 every 3-4 months or so. As far as Gorilla glass claims - mine got scratched, I too thought nothing can touch it.

It's because the ribbon that connects the digitizer is located right underneath the end call button, so too much pressing of that button can lead to the ribbon coming loose. To get to the ribbon you have to take the screen off, and I don't think you can do it without breaking the screen to take it off. If there was another way to fix the button without replacing the screen I'd totally do it, but I haven't found any ways from my searching.
I suggest you try your own disassembly prior to getting the necessary parts and see how everything is positioned.

After reading your first post, that got me thinking that I might not need to do a screen replace after all... I've watched over some HD2 dissassembly videos, and I'm thinking that I might be able to remove the screen, reattach the ribbon so it's firmly in place, and put the screen back... All I'll need is the $3 repair kit from Amazon, saving me the cost of a new digitizer. Also, would screen protectors like this
http://www.amazon.com/EMPIRE-Crysta...GIQA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328106829&sr=8-1
or
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-HD2-Mirror-Screen-Protector/dp/B003GE7FIW/ref=pd_sim_cps_1
This be good? The reviews aren't too bad, and they're way cheaper than Ghost Armor, so I figure there's no harm in it!
I simply love my mirror protectors, they look amazing on and last forever, unless you have a habit of dropping your phone into a bag full of sharp objects. I really replace it every few months because I am a girl and want it to look PERFECT, not because it becomes too scratched or unusable, they barely scratch. You can order the same in clear, of course - same strength and protection, just no mirror.
The only downside to mirror protector is visibility reduced even further in bright sunlight. You might want to try both and see which one you prefer, they are cheap, well, $25 will buy you a whole lot of any type.
Stay away from matte protector finish, I found them to not only be rubbish and feel funny to touch, the colors of the screen looked muted and washed out.
Everybody comments on my mirror protector, haha, they think it's some kind of cool new-age screen technology - fancy looking LCD
Do you have a link to the mirror protector you have? I've been looking at some and they seem pretty nice, but I haven't found any on Amazon yet that have good reviews. Thank you for your help by the way

& will i view the original color from my display or it will destroy my color experience?
Please help me
I think you will void water resist protection, because the phone is sealed with glue stripes around the corners. Here (Chile) LG offers a program called LG Care and they change the screen for free in the three first months, there's no option to contact LG?
btw you are looking for digitizer, not the entire screen, so i don't think that you will see difference in colors
I think you'll need to change the whole screen (118$ option).
Most, if not all, screens are like this nowadays. You can't separate the screen glass from the actual screen (or it is almost impossible to do so without breaking the screen) so you're only left with the expensive option which, in your case, means changing the whole screen.
I've read a few times now that repair shops in US charge around 150 bucks for LG G6's screen repair and the phone probably keeps water resistance since it's repaired professionally.
If i was you i'd ask around and then decide. If it really is "only" 150 bucks then it's probably a better option than buying a 120 dollar screen and changing it yourself (which can be tricky and you might break something else in the process + i'm pretty sure waterresistance will be gone that way).

The cheap part is front screen glass which is a mistery to me.
In every LG G6 screen repair tutorial or disassembly video i've seen everyone always changes the whole screen so... Idk.
I might be wrong but i really haven't come across any videos or tutorials that show how to separate screen glass from the screen itself for repair.
Any update!
Not any help for the OP, just informative :
The digitizer (which detects touches) is air tight glued to the screen (which gives the content).
Reason: much more immersive experience. That is why the screen seems so close to the surface. If it is seperated, the screen will sit deeper in the phone and will give a depth difference in what you touch to what you see.
Disadvantages : screen replacement can only be done when buying a pre-glued screen. You cannot glue not yourself.
If the screen gets too hot, the glue burns leaving a locally brown circular spot on your screen (common on older phones)

So you suggetest i should buy the expensive one?
If i use glass protector in top of that broken glass will it stop not to damage or enlarge the screen crack more?
At this moment i can't spend that kind of money, and phone glass crack was hard to find.so it's not really bother me.

I'm very certain that you won't be able to buy the parts seperate. The screen will always come with the digitizer pre-glued. I think the price difference is rather in it being an original screen or a third party screen.

Probably. Car glass replacer often use stickers to put on cracks to prevent further cracking while your window is on order. So one can conclude it works the same on smartphones. I would certainly give it a try, they're cheap.

Oh yes. Weird. Can't help you with that.
Please see the attached photo.
I have asked various local places for repair costs for it.
They are telling me they would need to replace the body, front panel and back panel, costing £230-£260 total.
Are they correct?

If u have broken the front glass, it means you need the OLED replacement. Only the front panel. should be changed.
However, £250 seems reasonable, as for my S8 they asked for 85 omr. (i.e. £200).
Take my advise its not worth replacing with that much cost. Your screen seems fine with just minor crack. Just put a SOFT protection screen (NOT the tempered one). After few days you will just start to ignore the crack. I have managed to use my S8 with broken screen for over a year now.

Unfortunately, it's more than just a crack. There's a small hole where some of the glass has fallen out.

That's the thing with OLED display, its a curse.
See mine, i have it just below Bixby button.
Just try a Soft TPU screen film for few days and see if you get used to it, just as I did. You can get a good one for 5-10$ on Amazon.
