[Q] Contacts Not Loading from SIM - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I have used a few ROMS and none have failed to auto load the contacts from the SIM card.
I went to People -> Settings -> Import -> SIM card
it did not seem to find any. As I say, other roms have done this just fine with no interaction.
I am using mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.8.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sim seems to work in sense, but I didn't came over a non-sense build which showed me sim-contacts

[Q] Some Apps don't work on HD2 (Android Froyo)

Hi,
it is possibel that some apps are not working on a HD2 with a hacked android froyo 2.2 (Desire rom: mattc Leo + Froyo Sene v1.8)?
I have downloaded e.g Angry Birds and if i would like install the app i get a Error its called: Unknow error: -18 ???
Whats the problem ? Some other apps are working fine!
Can help some body ?

Ok sorry my mistake:
Info @ the rom thread:
Known problems:
It is easier to list what I know doesn't work.
Certain apps from the market won't install. Neocore is one for example. You have 2 options to get them to work. A) Copy the .apk to your SD card then run it from your phone or B) Unmount your SD card first (Settings > SD Card > Unmount SD Card).
im testing this workaround.
Its working -> cloased.

[Q] NAND running also Android from SD Card?

As from today I am running the Cyanogen 7 from MDJ v 2.2. very smooth on my HTC HD2. Which is cool of course. Now for the question:
Is it possible to have a NAND rom and then also use android (hyperdroid 1.7 with cyanogen 6.1) run from my SD-card?
For what purpose you might wonder. Well, I was not smart enough to save, sync or back up any text messages on the Hyperdroid build. I do not want to go through the 'whole process' of downgrading to wm 6.5 again and than having another turn at flashing the nand-rom only having to re-install everything yet again in the nand build...
Or is there another way to extract these messages?
tnx in advance for your help.

You can use sms backup+ from the market, or other sms backup programs. They back it up to your gmail account and then you can restore it with the same app in another build/rom.
To your original question, you probably can . I have moved a couple of builds to boot from sd card from magldr, but I only know how to do it with builds that use the cedesmith initrd method.

[Q] HELP: android wont start up for some reason?

NOTE: i posted this in the development thread by mistake, reposting here. sorry
hey everyone
i tried searching the threads but i cant find anyone with my exact problem (or something similar at least).
anyways ive been running dutty's winmo rom, i have a proper .50 radio running, and i have been able to successfully boot into darkstones superram v1.5 for the past few weeks just fine.
one night i forgot to charge the battery so it drained out, in the morning i had to work and i needed a number which was on the android OS of the phone, so i immediately turned on the phone after starting to charge it and booted into android, the phone didnt have enough power though and shut off while it was checking the SD card for errors.
after this point, i started up the phone again after 2 minutes to give it some time to charge, and it was able to get into android, however on hte way to work i tried listening to music and/or getting pictures from my SD card (using astro to search the SD card) but when i clicked on a file everything force closed, the music player froze up everytime i tried to get music going, and things like the sound options in the android settings menu would force close as well.
i figured somethnig messed up on the SD card so i backed up some stuff and formatted the SD card, and reinstalled a fresh version of darkstones superram (new data.img and everything).
when i tried launching android it went to the green HTC screen for a few seconds, then the screen goes black and the phone restarts into winmo.
this kept happening so i figured maybe something went wrong with the windows mobile rom, so i installed an energy rom just now and hte same thing is still happening.
what im going to do today is try it on a different SD card to see if thats the problem, and try another SD android ROM to make sure.
but if anyone can save me some time and knows whats happening here please let me know!
any help is appriciated! thanks!
[Dec 18][RAM] darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 [kernel: Hastarin custom]
I am assuming you are using the above.
It sounds like your SD card was "damaged", try refreshing it this way.
Assuming you are using Windows PC.
Download SD Card Formatter 3 and install.
Insert SD card into card reader
Start up SD Card Formatter 3, it should detect your SD Card.
Click on OPTIONS button
Format = FULL (ERASE ON)
Format Size Readjustment = ON
Click OKAY then START
When done, put only important stuff back, like music, documents, videos, etc..
Then start Darkstone Froyo from scratch, in case those files were damaged before the backup.

[Q] NO contacts on simcard

do you have any kind of sim manager? DL contact2sim (it's free from the market) and see if it picks up the contacts on your sim. Then, simply copy them onto the phone.

Help... i cant restore contacts from my Sim card

I just flashed to CM7.1 Raw Build by graffixnyc.
when i go to import contacts from Sim Card, it says its empty??? i poped the simcard into my other phone, but its all there..
how to i import my contacts from simcard.. Ive did it once but it was on the stock tmobile rom, which i did the exact same way and it worked..
Menu > import/export > from sim card
but now it doesnt work on this rom i installed..
any ideas? i dont really want to input it all one at a time...
Same issue and I flashed RoyalGinger on mine. Can't really use a phone w/o a phonebook lol.
I was able to recover mine by going back to a known working ROM (most likely your previous one) Saving your contact to your SDCard then flash back to the rom you want and import them using that same menu but choosing import from SDCard.
Hope this helps
