Does anyone know a site where to buy that? I have the white version but black is fine also. I would like a full replacement, digitizer included.
Will it avoid my warranty if I replace it? And do I have to open the whole thing to replace the digitizer only?
thanks in advance
I can't find housings anywhere. And beware, I replaced the digitizer, and when I put it back together, the lcd was cracked in the corner; it's glued on with damn gorilla glue I swear, you will not be able to replace the digitizer without hurting the lcd unless you can somehow get the glue to unbond. Also, yes, you have to take the phone completely apart (like, the last step of disassembly in the service manual) to get at the digitizer.
You can find service manuals in pdf on google
Good luck if you attempt anything, but I wouldn't reccommend it!
*EDIT - Yes you will well and truly void the warranty
try this

So my screen is totally scratched up and I've seen some digitizers on ebay for around 40 bux, which is within my power.
But...I can't find a manual/video that shows one how to install the digitizer, the leaked service manual: http://mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC_Blackstone_Service_Manual.pdf doesn't mention this either.
So anybody tried this or has some more info about this matter?
You can't. You'll have to replace the whole thing. The digitizer is hot glued to the lcd. UNLESS you can somehow detach it by melting the glue somehow, you can't (and if you try that way, I guarantee it'll go horrible lol). So you'll have to swing for the lcd + digitizer kit. Just the digitizer is for those that want to buy it and the lcd screen seperately.

I Found A Site Where Phone Take Apart Video Available, such as HTC Evo 4G Take Apart Video.
You Can Take A Chance There.

Exactly....But the touch screen digitizer is very hard to replace. I have taken mine apart only to find it near impossible to replace without damaging the rest of the phone. I only wanted to replace the housing, but you must replace the housing and digitizer together.
NOTE: If you attempt this, remember to remove the stickers over the little ribbon cables before sliding them out. Found that one out the hard way.
Your best bet would be to send it to hTc for a repair. I really wouldn't risk it if I were you... I only did because I have trianing in electronics.
oh ok, any ideas of the costs when sending it to a repair center ?
The repair cost me 157 euros for replacing the housing and touchscreen sensor.
And if you want to prevent further costs with such issues .... uh ... quit smoking
My LCD screeb broken yesterday. I have tmobile HTC HD2.But my touchscreen works fine.
Do I need to purchase this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-HD2-T858...#ht_2748wt_698
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-MOBILE-HTC-HD2...ht_1845wt_1014
Do I need to solder something or is just an easy fix?
Please let me know.
Thanks
Mine too
The links to the Ebay sale you posted are no longer valid.
My screen is broken also, just the touch sensitive glass (digitizer). The LCD is still in tact.
From what I understand the digitizer is harder to replace than the entire screen (digitizer+LCD) because the LCD is glued to the digitizer. There's a video on YouTube someone posted demoing the process.

Has the digitizer for only $57 USD, but you have to order 3 at at time. If we can find someone else that's interested, then maybe we can go in and get one if that's all that you need also.
Cyph
I have done the digitizer repair, not exactly what I would call a fun time.
Easy to mess up your phone, need to make your own glue or double sided tape (to hold digitizer/lcd/frame together), about 4 little tiny wires that need to be placed correctly when putting the phone back together.
Thankfully the US HD2 does not require soldering the digitizer's connector to the lcd (the european one does), however again this is not a repair job for the feinthearted.
After all was said and done and the digitizer was repaired, the new one had the rainbow/oil effect when under a fluorescent light source, don't know if it is due to me using the wrong digitizer or what, but it did not look good. I had the same issue with a altell touch pro 1 that I purchased on ebay, it annoyed me then and it's back with a vengance.
Have fun, be very meticulous and watch the HD2 dissembler videos about 5 times before you unscrew one screw.
:crying:
Anyone know a way to repair/replace a screen? My warranty expired forever ago.....
You need to buy a digitizer to replace it. There are some video tutorials on YouTube how to disassemble the tab which can be quite usefull.
If you are lucky, you can remove the broken digitizer from the lcd display without damaging it (which is almost impossible since its glued but you can give it a shot), otherwise you need to buy a new lcd display as well.
Good luck!
How much would those replacement parts cost?

And the JUST the digitizer will probably cost you around 30-40? but good luck getting it apart.

Hi All,
Broke my glass + digitizer, but lcd ok. Got a replacement and managed to separate the original lcd, what I'd like to know is do I really need to glue the lcd to the new digitizer? I've put it back together just loose for the time being and seems to look and work fine. Any risks to just glueing the digitizer/screen to the frame and leaving the lcd loose inside?
Also, I still have glue gunk on the lcd screen, I've ordered some "151 sticker remover" to get rid of it, but it occurred to me it might damage it. Anyone know if it would be ok? If not anything else recommended, maybe something I could make at home?
Thanks!

I am in search for digitizer. How much you got it for? Any sources?
I believe this video should help you. It mentions that you have to glue digitizer and lcd.

Thanks, on closer inspection I htink my colours are a little washed out without the glue, so am just going to go ahead and do it.
I got my digitizer off ebay, interestingly I see the ones on ebay in India are twice as expensive though, I would have thought they'd be cheaper. I'd recommend just getting a digitizer and lcd in one though. Like this one:
ebayDOTin/itm/For-LG-E960-Google-Nexus-4-E960-LCD-Display-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Black-/121465367279?pt=IN_Mobile_Accessories&hash=item1c47e66aef
Costs twice as much, but it's much easier to install; you don't need to buy as many tools, UV glue and gunk remover. Plus there's a high chance of breaking the lcd when separating it from your broken screen, so you could well end up having to buy both anyway.
I read something about the replacement lcds being lower quality though, I don't know how noticeable that would be, but if you pay with paypal you'd probably be able to get your money back.

The link is dead. But i guess the product refers to complete front panel of phone. I did same thing. The panels are China made. The quality is no where close to original. I suggest you to not buy it online. You should go to mobile repair store and ask them to do it. The reason is the panels are faulty and if so then they will quickly replace it. I did couple of time after which got a better one.
