This is a COMPLETE waste of space. This is like the third post discussing CM6m and they all have nothing but twitter info. Wait until something concrete is announced before trashing the dev forum.
Essentially, Koush said he wont be starting for a few months, because Samsung needs to release 2.2 OTA, and THEN release the source for it (and all of it, not pieces like they have been doing for the kernels). My guess would be sometime before the end of the year.

What is this nonsense that people keep saying?
Prior to the MR I had a phone that couldn't output stereo sound through headphones, would randomly miss text messages (that would disappear forever, even after rebooting--a ridiculously serious problem), would stay awake 100% of the time and had terrible battery life, didn't have an easy way to switch calls back and forth from speakerphone, and an unreliable camera that failed to focus most of the time.
What issues are you talking about that were newly introduced? They certainly weren't worse than the ones that I listed above because I haven't noticed any.
Guys, the source of this article is the XDA forum!! Their info isn't any more "official" than our own!

that would be gizmodo
I was in best buy earlier and the two girls working mobile were joking around and not busy at all. So of course I had to go over and start chatting with them. It was my duty as a guy right??? Anyway, I figured that since I had seen this best buy screenshot I would bring it up. They both looked at me like I was crazy. One of them said that the Sprint Hero will never be upgraded to 2.1 and that Sprint and HTC never said it would be. She said the Hero that looks funny, like has the funny looking bottom that is like the g1, that version will get the update someday.
Anyway, I told her I had seen the screen shot from the best buy intraweb so she looked on her computer and said nope, no info on any 2.1 upgrade for the herol.
It'll happen when it does, I don't trust any of the leaks anymore. Just happy I have 2.1 now and it works for me.
I figured this deserved a thread.

all right! Devs get on it... oh wait, I forgot. Dev get on it.
I wish I knew more about all of this. We have a fully working kernel source for our 2.1 ROMs. Does that mean that porting 2.2 will be a snap, or am I missing something here?
Darch seems to be on it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6918210&postcount=1393
Darchstar said he would be able to get a working port for us by tomorrow xD I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Wow. So I guess we get an official Cyanogenmod ROM in the near future. That November Evo upgrade eligibility date is suddenly hurting much less.

I could still care less about the Evo. It's WAY too big IMHO. Who wants a brick in their pocket, apparently quite a few due, but whatever :-/

This is just another troll. The JI6 update will be rolled to everyone throughout October. There is no way Froyo is coming until everyone gets JI6, so at least not until November, chances are probably even later.
I second the ban. As people get banned for Froyo trolling, we will see less and less. (Hopefully.)

According to Bloomberg
This would be very disappointing...and the reasoning seems to be that they don't want devs putting Honeycomb on phones.
"Rubin says that if Google were to open-source the Honeycomb code now, as it has with other versions of Android at similar periods in their development, it couldn't prevent developers from putting the software on phones "and creating a really bad user experience. We have no idea if it will even work on phones."

Developers make ROMs that don't work or barely work sometimes! They tweak it, play with it, get it up and running. If they're not sure if it can run on phones, well, leave it up to the huge developer base for Android to do the work for them!
So silly.

that's not the problem (as far as i can tell), as people who root and would flash a HC rom on a phone are a small percent of android users. It's the OEMs they're worried about porting HC and ruining the user experience of the device -and thusly android- with a bad port.
Yeah, I can see that happening.
I can't find the post I found regarding an update on the situation, where a representative said that they just won't release it YET.
Bummer but we've seen these situations already someone will leak it before we know it.
