Noob Question

I often see people referring to battery usage as mAh. What does this actually mean and how can I view it?
Thanks
Use current widget downlaodable from market...
mAH is milli amps an hour, current widget will let you see power draw at what ever interval you set.. Enjoy

PowerTutor was reporting the Current Widget and Batteryminder as the biggest battery drainers... And after uninstalling them, my battery last longer

No, it's milli amps hour = m.A.h
milli amps an hour = m.a/h
OP: When people refer to mAh: they should be referring to the capacity of a battery, as in how much energy it holds.
mA is a measure of current, as in how much energy per time is used by the device (or is charged to the battery). Current widget is indeed the tool to measure this.
Thank you for the quick reply everybody.
I have downloaded and installed "Current Widget" and it's telling that I'm using 270mA when in standby. Is this normal? My phone has been booted for hour and it's already eaten 16% battery.
I am using Darkstone's SuperRAM Froyo. In my battery usage panel it is telling that the display is taking up 79% however it is set to 20% brightness.
Anyone help please?
Enable the logging feature in current widget, then put your phone in standby for a couple of minutes, and then check the log. 270mA is not your standby usage, current widget just hasn't had time to update yet.

[Q] How to see instant battery consumption?

Is it posible to see the instant battery consumption on a sonyericson android mobile?
Either with the current widget or Elixir. This would help to identify exactly when the drain turbo battery mode starts.

[Q] how to enlarge the battery life

i've seen in some posts that the hd2 battery could take up to 3 days and loose anly 2% - 5% during the night ... well for me it's impossible ... my phone at standby eats 5% per hour .... i have 2 battery and thy drain the same ...i want to know if it's similar for everybody or just me ... and if there's any application or setting to make the battery life longer .

turn off bluetooth, wifi and data to conserve battery life
download currentwidget and see what the draw is on your battery when it is on standby
If you are on a Gingerbread build like I am, you may want to uncheck the Data Enabled box found under Settings/Mobile & Wireless Settings. I found just by unchecking this on the Pongster CM7 build I am on, it stopped the frequent battery spikes I was experiencing. Also, like the other poster said, turn off all active sync, WiFi, GPS Bluetooth, etc. if your build doesn't do already. Use Current Widget found on the Market to determine stand by battery drain. After I unchecked the Data Enabled box, I went from an overnight drain of 20-25% down to 3-4%. On the Froyo build looking at my wife's Android phone, you would uncheck Enable Always-On Mobile box. Hope this helps your situation.
..must be any third party app. My drainage is 2% in flightmode every night. Already tried to find out which app cause your drainage?...also your standby drainage is a bit high. Im losing 1mah per hour or less with data on.

A steady 1mA or less is virtually impossible with the HD2...let alone any phone.
But as a rule of thumb, Android should drain 2-9mA when in standby, it just varies by build, location, what you have installed, signal quality, etc.
Where I live, I have full signal but only Edge and I have data, bluetooth, gps, and auto sync on and I drain on average 6mA when in standby.
You either have Wifi on (it causes weird drain issues), bad signal or an app that is eating your battery.
of course i disable everything .....so if i go to setting/about phone/battery use may i see all what drain my battery or i have to get an application that can give exact informations ...
i installed the current widget and in the classic apprearence i see 204 mA and in the clear text apprence i see 204 mA with 89% in the battery. is it normal?

let your screen off for 2 minutes and then check your consumption with current widget(the widget should refresh the value every minute by default)
..so you can be sure that teh shown value is teh standyby value.
The standby value should be between 2-5ma.
When your screen is on it should drain between ~100 - ~300ma depending on your screen brightness.
i did wait for 2 mn and here's what hapend:
at 10:38. 59 mA
at 10:40. 58 mA
at 10:41. 354 mA
the battery went from 98% to 90% with 10 mn in 3G in about 30 mn
if u undestand please tell me

Thats a big too much
Did you already checked the build in battery usage tool?
settings->about phone->battery usage?
What app has got the highest consumption?

Maybe a little more information about what ROM you are using. There are quite a few experimental ones out there. I'm using CMYLXGO's Bluetopia usually, but I like to try different ones all the time. My battery is usually pretty good with about two days with medium to light use.
in about phone i see systeme android 57% than standby gsm with 17% ...
i'm using now hyperdroid v12 but i used rafdroid, coredroid, and cm7 and almost the same battery draining ...
i thought it's my battery but when i used another one i saw no diffrence
with heavt use i cant stand a half of day

Are you restoring a backup after trying a new rom?
...try with a clean rom without any apps installed.
Seems that an app prevents your phone to go to standby.
you right ... i did a restore i will try a clean install as u suggested and see the battery drain befor installing any application ...
i want to know if Clk or Magldr or the build version ( 2.3/2.4) have any realation with battery drain ...
i've read that the sense rom and rom based on hd build drain battery faster ... if u used much roms u would see that some roms use battery more than others ... so please i need a personal suggestion from u to use any special rom ( with fm radio if possible...too bad it dosnt work on hyperdroid)
thank u for ur support
no one to answer?

HD2 Battery. Good or bad ?

Hi!
I installed NAND rom on HTC HD2. I have battery problems (I think).
I left it for sleep for 6 hrs. I turned of bt,mobile network wifi. He lost nearly 15% in that state. I received only one sms. I cant get battery through day. Is that normal or i have problems ? Also i would like to know is there any program to se battery wear out level like on laptops so I can know to replace it. Thanks in advance
Adition on battery stats now i have 12% 16hrs since charged 14.5 stand by 1.5 up time. Is this normal?
try controlling running operations at background. i use android assistant for this. use battery monitor widget for battery information and statistics. at sleep it should consume 2-6 ma. be sure auto sync is closed. control screen brightness, it eats battery very much. with some kernels after activating bluetooth it consumes 60 ma battery in standby until you restart. for good battery life prefer cm7 roms (i'm happy with hyperdroid

Use CurrentWidget from the Android market (free). Just put the widget on a homescreen, put the device to sleep then after a minute or two check the battery drain.

[Q] battery monitor widget result on sg note

im trying to compare battery discharge results using "battery monitor widget" app. the lowest sustained batt discharge i got from my note is -51ma while on standby with all connectivity off except voice. ive only installed battery widget monitor and antutu for now aside from stock apps. no config changed from stock 2.3.5 except syncing my google contact, mail and calendar
in comparison with my old moto defy, defy is reaching -13ma/-17ma as its lowest with live wallpaper, facebook and a lot more apps and config changed but still getting the abovementioned battery discharge result. defy is still at stock rom 2.1.
what's yours? would just like to compare since i noticed that sg note's battery discharge is faster while on standby.
I've gotten as low as 9, but I guess 11-12 is normal. I drop my connection to 2g unless I need 3g.
Unless mistaken, the Note is not fully supported by this widget and the mA reported is estimated, thus not really precise and fully reliable.
However, overnight (about 8 to 10H on standby with flight mode ON) I loose 2 to 4% of battery. It's really good !
