[Q] Has anyone been able to use WinMo Marketplace? - Palm Treo Pro

I've been trying to install Windows Mobile Marketplace on my STP since August 2009. The XDA version, released last year, installs but now demands an update. Once updated via MS, or downloaded directly via MS, Marketplace crashes on bootup (blank gray screen only, then exits straight out back to the Today screen).
As anyone been able to run the newest version of Marketplace, or gotten the previously OK XDA version of Marketplace to run without forcing the update?
Thanks

Flashed rom - Now cannot buy apps or access already purchased ones from Market

Hey guys,
I flashed to drizzys 1.2r1 HERO rom without a problem. When I used the market app I was then NOT able to see any paid apps for download, nor can I download apps that I have purchased previously. When i try, it simply gives me a "download unsuccessful" notification.
I have tried to use the market enabler to fix this (although I am a TOTAL noob) but it appeared to auto-detect the settings for my local connection it didnt make a change to the market, and neither did trying a different region with the enabler.
I have flashed back to my nandroid backup which is running Cyanogen and now it also has no access to paid apps either, and I cant download the apps I have already bought. The bought apps that were already downloaded appear to be working, I just cant install any new ones.
Im using the 2005 SPL and Im using a HTC 32a Magic, on 3 Mobile Australia.
Any ideas?

[Q] Push install apps via market.android.com

I finally got round to watching the Honeycomb features video last night and logged on to market.android.com and tried the 'one-click-install' that should push the app to your phone over the magic of the internet and Androidism.
However it says it's been installed (on the web page) but my phone never receives notification of the app being installed and the app is not installed, so I'm thinking we need a certain version of the Android Market?
I'm running CM7.0 with the GAPPS for it, 2.2.7.
I only have the 1 android device and it's listed as it should be on the install page of any app.
Anyone else got it working?
Worked fine for me when I tried few days ago.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I found that apps pushed from the market.android.com website wouldn't be installed on the phone when running CM7 (I think around nightly #24-ish) but if I switched to a Sense based rom (nDAF's 1.7 based on BlaY0's B-0.7) then the apps would be received and installed. It looks like CM7 might not be compatible with pushing apps from the market web site, unless it's been sorted in more recent nigthly's. Might try it again and also with with CM6.1 when I get a minute.
EDIT:
OK, tried pushing Talking Tom Cat Free from the website but it isn't received on the phone with latest CM7 (nightly #33) and Market 2.2.11 intalled.
UPDATE:
It seems that, for me at least, apps push from the website ok with a clean install of CM7, i.e. data/cache wipe during intall or factory reset of exiting insatllation, but wont work with a restored backup of a pervious intallation. Suggests that it must be some sort of Cache thing?
Thanks going to try fiddle now
Went for a fresh install of cm7.0 that Ali released in early January and it's working now fantastic!
Glad to be of help.
I think it should work with any CM7 release as long as the data/cache is wiped. I had it working with the latest nightly release from yesterday. #33 I think. I might try restoring a older version and then selectively delete the cache from various apps to see if I can find the culprit.

BELL HTC Desire Z FOTA update 1.84.666.2 | 03.25.2011

HTC Desire Z update 1.84.666.2 | 03.25.2011
This software update is intended for the HTC Desire Z and users should not update or attempt to load this version on any other device as it may cause serious issues/damage. The update will be downloaded over the air, also known as Firmware over the air (FOTA). This means you don’t have to connect your phone a computer to update the phone. less
Please note that during the update process, your user data will be retained, however, we still advise you to back up your information, including contacts and calendar appointments. You can use HTC Sync to back up your information.
This software will be installed over the air through your data connection on your phone. You may choose to update via Wi-Fi if a Wi-Fi hotspot is available. You will get a notification on your phone saying that you have an update available.
What’s included?
* Optimized mail client for use with Exchange Server 2010
* Enhanced system stability and performance
Instructions:
You will need to have this software version to: 1.34.666.5 Release Key
To update to the latest version: 1.84.666.2 Release Key
To check what version you have, from the Home screen
* Press Menu
* Select Settings
* Select About phone
* Select Software information
* Check Build number
The HTC Desire Z is designed to check for a firmware update every 14 days. This is done automatically. You can also check for the Software update manually. Go to Settings > About phone > System software update > Check now. The firmware update is also designed to retain user information. Most user information will be retained. However, we still recommend you perform a backup before you proceed with the update. A Micro SD card is necessary for the update to work. Your memory card should have at least 300 megabytes of free space. If a software upgrade is available, you will get the following message:
“A system update is available, would you like to download the following system software”
Note: This is a data intensive update, if you don’t have an unlimited data plan we suggest you perform the download using Wi-Fi
You will have the option to download the software Now, or download when you connect to Wi-Fi, or cancel. If you cancel, the device will check again in 14 days or you can manually check for the update.
* Assuming you have chosen to download the software now or with Wi-Fi you will be notified when the download is complete and ready to install.
* You will be prompted to Install Now, or Install Later. Choose Install Now. If you don’t want to install the software immediately, you can Install Later. The install option will always be in the notification bar.
* The device will reboot into Recovery mode and the software update will begin. The software update takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
* You may notice that during the update process, the progress bar might remain still for a period of time. This is normal. Once the installation is complete, the phone will reboot and your update will be complete.
FAQ’s
What is Firmware over the air (FOTA)?
Firmware over the air or FOTA is a convenient way of updating the system software of your android phone. It doesn’t require the device to be plugged into a computer to perform the update. It also allows the phone to retain user information like contacts, calendar, emails, text messages and more.
How does FOTA work?
The HTC Desire Z routinely checks for software updates. When a software update is available, the phone notifies the user that a new software update is available and prompts the user to download the update file to the phone. Once the user has downloaded the update file, which gets stored into the memory card, the device prompts the user to install the update. After the installation is complete the phone reboots and the device is updated.
What happens if the downloading breaks in the middle?
The download manager is capable of resuming a download. If the downloading is interrupted because of data connection loss, or the user turns off the device, the download will resume as soon as the next data connection comes back.
What happens if the installation breaks in the middle?
The FOTA installation is performed in the Recovery mode; there is no way for users to interrupt the process unless the device runs out of battery. In such cases the device can still reboot into Recovery mode and restart or resume the installation when the battery is back.
What is the FOTA behavior in roaming mode?
In roaming mode if the data connection is through 3G/GPRS, all check-ins and downloads will be blocked. If Wi-Fi connection is available then the checking and downloading can still work.

I cannot get it at this time.
I'm impressed, i figured Bell wasn't going to put any updates out until 2.3 hits.
Monday morning, I can now get the update.
44.5Mb.
Is there any good reasons to stay with Bell firmware?
Because they removed HTC locations(which is free) and also the car mode for their stupid buggy GPS app and also it comes with unwanted games like Asphalt 5.
My phone is currently on WWE RUU and I'll never return on the Bell firmware for sure.
Sincerely, I want to know.
Do I need to unroot my perm-rooted desire z w/ s-off to update my phone?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
No need to unroot, though if you removed any apps that come with the phone originally the update will not apply. Cannot say whether or not you keep root once applying the update as I did a full roll back to the original state. You do have to flash back to the original recovery (can't apply with cwm)

Hi all,
I updated today without realizing that this was a rom update. Prior to this, I had 1.34 which was rooted, S-OFFd S-CIDd (you know..)
Now, I'm on 1.82 but I no longer have root (although I am still S-OFF..!?). Does anyone know how I can go about getting root again?
Thanks.

I'm trying to get an HTC Desire Z Bell Canada phone but the folks selling them on eBay won't ship to the US. I looked on Swappa but can't find that phone. Does anyone here have one to sell me?
I'm looking for one with the stock rom or something rootable(Not OTA). Rooted or unlocked is not necessary as I can run gfree.
I installed this update before i realized that it was not rootable, does anyone know of a guide on how to roll back an update?
Maybe that thread can help.

HTC Sense seems to be actually syncing now.
Alert bubbles for homescreen are now blackish with a green outline
Speed improvements
Things not fixed
SMS Jumping bug
Thats all ive noticed so far.
Slow refresh
Anyone experienced slow refresh since the update. My widget for the email and the one for the Agenda when not accessed for more than an hour seems to take 5-6 seconds to show content. Same thing with the HTC launcher when playing a game or using any application, when I return back at the launcher there's nothing exept the bottom menu on the screen and it takes 5-6 seconds to show my widgets and icons.
yep also noticed the color change in notification badges. My widgets are loading instantly, curious if the radio reception may have improved at all. Need to get out and about for a while. Everything seems a bit faster but I'm sure that's do to the fresh install and reboot etc, we'll see.
Agreed, everything runs a bit faster...icons in apps drawer look snappier too.
So if I want to root and s-off I'll hsve to dpwngrade back to 1.34?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
everything seems faster EXCEPT when you use the slide out keyboard. everything seems slower that way. It takes quite a few seconds before the widgets and all the apps on the home screen show up.
Any way to downgrade this back to 1.36?
My home screen takes an eternity to load after unlocking. This also happens when i open the keyboard to unlock the screen.
EXTREMELY unimpressed. Don't fix it if it isn't broken.
As i work with software, this sort of careless programming makes me vomit.
Well hopefully we'll see Gingerbread before summer so all of this will mean nothing. [fingers crossed]
Could someone who installed this new update check what version the radio is?
How do you check the radio version?
For those who experienced the lagging, I did a factory reset on the phone, and it helps a lot, even after restoring all my apps. The lagging is not as noticeable.

Netflix officially works as of 10- 19-2011

The official market Netflix app is now showing compatibility with the Transformer..
The Netflix also now works officially in Canada. Tested on my TF and my Nexus S, works perfectly. Finally!
I had to go to the Android Market website since it didn't show up on my TF running Prime 2.0.4. But it installed just fine afterwards.
Yep, Installed it on my TF, Xoom, Gtab and HTC Inspire 4G. Finally works on all my devices!
Officially? I've had Netflix on my TF and it's been working fine. Could have sworn I got it from the market.
Is there anyway to get rid of the netflix app? I am having trouble connecting with netflix 1.5.x +.
On stock rom, not rooted. Before updating the firmware I was running netflix ver 1.4 which did not give me any problems.
Netflix 1.5+ runs fine when it is connecting to my home wifi but when I am connected to my work's wifi, I am getting this error:
Sorry we could not readh the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit the Netflix website (1003).
Disregard, I was able to install 1.4 by just by installing it over the newer version. Will have to contact netflix as to why 1.5+ doesn't work on my work's wifi.
Arghh.. so I updated to the newest firmware and I am unable to go back to the older version of netflix. It installs fine but when I run the program, I get the following popup message:
New version of application is found, you must upgrade to be able to use application.
I didn't have that problem with the recent firmware update. Any suggestions?

I don't think this is firmware related. I've yet to update to either .18/.19 but I'm now getting the same message. Netflix won't allow me to view any content and just quits when I cancel.
Do I have to actually pay for a netflix account to use the app?

I'm able to find a 1.4.1 that works but I am unable to install it because new firmware won't let me uninstall the current netflix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15841797&postcount=2
it works fine on my touchpad and doesn't have the update message.

Strange. My firmware is the same as the 3.2 update.
[edit]
I just used Titanium Backup to uninstall netflix then reinstalled 1.41 and it works.

Help Rollback Oreo

Hi guys is there anyway to rollback Oreo as it keeps crashing my gmail and outlook, other than that its seems to run great.
did you try a factory reset first. The only way back is to flash stock software in odin.
Use the desktop client from Samsung to roll back.
Thanks guys, I didn't factory reset but I think I found a way to stop the crashing.
I installed android system webview and that has stopped all the apps that were crashing at launch to start working again.
So just a heads up if you cant launch any apps, try the android webview install.

Plug in the usb on your smartphone and start smart switch. After the launch of the program it will ask you to update your phone. It will download latest android 7.0 firmware and revert back to stock
A couple days ago i updated smartswith pc , and it says smartswitch will not support "device initialization mode" anymore. When i search from settings and boom no more this mode. It says make it from your phone.
I did it yesterday
1. Install that smart switch app on PC/ MAC.
2. when you hook your cell via usb, it's say software update msg on smart switch(i.e. to stable version 7.0)
3. once rollback is done, you'd need to un-enroll to beta update via samsung + app.. otherwise that oreo beta updated notification will hang there.
If you get an error when trying to install Smart Switch PC about a "side-by-side" error of some sort (forgot exactly what it said), install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) first.
How do you un-enroll from the beta update from the samsung + app?
I used Odin to flash a factory image of 7.0 from Updato.
how do i opt out of beta? I used smart switch to roll back, but now it already redownloaded the new firmware.
Android auto didn't work even after usb debugging enabled as some suggested. Anyone have an idea how to unenroll in the beta? I checked samsung + but cant find as solution.
I used odin to reflash but update keeps trying to install. No option to withdraw from beta in the samsung+ app...
on your phone, open Samsung Members app - go to settings and then at the bottom click on Galaxy Beta Programme...at the bottom of the following screen click DEREGISTER at the bottom.

I did the oreo install with Telus and everything was buttery smooth. There was second update about a week later and it's not buttery smooth and cords and it's taken longer to charge. Not functioning like it should be. How do I roll back this install?
