Is anyone else having a low volume problem on there mic level input? A lot of people tell me they cant hear me on the phone and that my voice is hard to hear. I have found the fix if this happens to you.
I'm not sure if it is the files they are using in the roms or the Loud Volume Hack I tried to use but I was able to get a hold of these files and it fixed it for me. I'm now heard loud and clear.
Delete the old files found on System/etc and replace it with the 3 files found in the zip below. You will need to reboot for the changes to take place...
Is this reversable via nandroid restore? Just checking.

Of course it is. Any changes in the filesystem can be restored via nandroid.
Right on. I tried to do this with Astro File Manager and was unable to delete those system files.
Did you do this through adb? Or maybe a different file manager?
I'm asking because I too have the mic issue with CM6 and would like to test this out.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
I used root explorer. Make sure you select read/write and not read only. Delete the files and replace them with the ones on the zip. If you want to reverse the changes you can either nandroid back or pull the files out of the CM6 zip and replace them.
Everyone can hear me much better now which is so much better than having to repeat myself so many Damn times.
I'm supprised I am one of only ones that had this issue...
I did. But I have louder volume hack to fix it. Lol

Doesn't LVH just adjust your speaker levels? And not your mic levels?
Yes LVH is just for speaker and bluetooth volume. I've found no mic adjustments.

The LVH is the reason why it screws up your mic level. It wasnt made for the hero and you will notice putting it back to stock doesnt actually return the correct files for our device. Keep using it and you will see your mic level will be low.
Actually, mic level is controlled by in call volume. If you use the in call volume on lvh, and then turn down your volume because it is too loud in the ear piece, that's when you lose mic level. And lvh has a backup/restore optionif you don't trust the stock button, but the stock button has worked fine for me. All lvh does is replace the files that are basically the graphic equalizer settings.

Yes it is true that the call volume effects the mic level. I have tried this numerous times. The stock profile was made for the Deisre or some other phone I forgot which. Therefore it doesnt work perfect for the Hero. I have used my backed up profile and it still didnt work right for me either. I ran accross this info on the forum where the guy made the LVH app. Thats where I was able to get too understand why it wont work correctly on our phone.
Dont believe me play your music at its loudest through the stock settings (untouched by LVH), then add LVH and listen to it (much louder). Now try to go back to stock and tell me there isnt a difference between the way it sounds compared to the files I've attached. The Mic level will go up as well. Believe me I have done this 10 times or so to make sure I wasnt crazy.
Its either that or the sound profile (equilizer files) that came with CM6 isnt as good as the ones I used.
I have messed with this a bunch of times and got info that the sound profile included in the "stock" setting wasnt made for our phone.
This was my experience...Maybe yours was different.
I just got a Motorola S9-HD BT headset and it at its loudest is on par with a normal set of headphones at 75%, would the LVH work for this or will it just screw up the other sound settings.
You can adjust bluetooth only with LVH
I'm confused
I've had issues with the mic being to low on CM6. Should I be looking this fix or LVH to correct it?

Just do what I said in the first post and you will have a much improved Mic level. LVH doesnt have a setting for the MIC.
I'll check it out. Thanks!
Thank you for this!! My g/f was always complaining that I was difficult to hear and I thought she might have been talking about the call quality.. This fix helped quite a bit and I don't hear any more complaining, just a much more quality conversation instead of, "what?" all the time.

Anyway to make the external speaker volume louder through a hack or app? Its way to low making it it useless for car navigation but more importantly I can't hear it ringing when I have it in my pocket.
After we manage to run custom roms from NAND, you can use DSPManager, but in the meantime, you can hack your AudioPara.CSV is you know how to.

they could probably increase it with a firmware update not 100% sure
as for ring volume as a work around just open an audio editing program like audacity and increase the volume of an mp3 that you plan to use as a ringtone then copy it to the device and use that it should be louder cause you have increased the volume of the mp3
its nto a fix for everything but its a work around for the ringer at least

AudioPara.CSV is a windows mobile file. This in an android device. Your instructions are useless.
I am also looking to increase audio volume. Mine is quite low, I cant even use speakerphone properly. You cant hear the person.
I also own the samsung galaxy and the desire hd is about half the volume, if that.
I can hardly hear anyone on this phone and the music/podcast playback is ridiculously low. Did anyone in HTC actually use this phone before manufacturing it?
Their donkeys did...
I dont find it that low.
Was about to set a alarm signal and it was too low to hear.
But instead I choose to use a file from the music folder and
it was much louder.
Seamed strange, but the volume is OK!
is there any way to make the speaker and ringer volume louder than stock max setting i work in a real noisy area and a lot of the time its very hard to hear
thanks in advance

Instead of making it louder, why not just try putting it on vibrate...? Just sayin.

i have it on ringer and vibrate and the vibrate is not the best that i have seen either. this is the only problem with this phone that i have other wise i lone it
has anyone found a way yet to mke the rear speaker louder when on speaker phone?
ring + vibrate + high pitch tone
thatll help you out the best. I got that power rangers Beep communicator thing because that worked the best even when I was driving the forklift I could hear it.
Honestly you dont wanna go to loud, you may blow your speaker >< then that would really suck
Use the 'Noisy One' ringer to make sure you always hear it - that's the only ringer I can hear every time.
As for speakerphone, you've touched on my only complaint with the G2 - the speakerphone isn't very good and requires holding it to your ear (which defeats the point, eh?)
You can try Old Phone Ringtones (from the Market). Some of those ringtones are really loud.
Hey guys I realize you are trying to be helpful but telling someone to "put it on vibrate" and "download louder ringtones" is not very helpful (The Vibrate sux on the G2 I usually hear it vibrating instead of feeling it ). I too am looking for a way to boost the speaker sound like I did with my G1 using "Louder Volume Hack". I have Loud ringers but that does not help with custom ringtones or with the reason I went with Android, To make it function the way I want it to, I am sure most of you also feel this way.
Also of Note: I can get the Speaker to the desired Volume using an Poweramp equalizer to boost the volume of music, considering all the apps out there I am surprised that no-one has created a hack to do this on the newer phones.

that is what i ma looking for the" louder volume hack" and im on a stock g2 not that good with comp stuff so im not rooted
With the DJ05 update, is there a way to hack the speaker phone volume to make it louder? Currently, at the highest setting, it is still a little low to hear. I read somewhere that there was something that fixed this issue on DJ01 but i'm not sure about DJ05.
I have been looking for a solution to this myself. Sadly there hasn't been much progress. I was under the impression that you could allow the necessary changes to stick with a setting in a custom kernel but I'm starting to not believe that. If it does work, it hasn't shown up in the forums to my knowledge.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I tried a different dj05 kernel trying to get the volume hack to work, but I had no luck. Went back to di01 until a workaround is found. I'm just afraid that not enough people realize this is a problem. Not sure if a fix will be found. Perhaps if you use titanium backup to save a copy of the audio tuning app on di01, then restore the app on dj05?
I don't have an issue with my speaker phone but with navigation, I can hardly hear the lady on google maps while in navi mode..
Maybe dumb question but is there a way to force the audio through the ear piece? It drives me crazy when I'm trying to watch a video and I can't hear it because the speaker is on the back and is facing away from me.

The froyo release EB01 has fixed this. Nav. volume is now much louder.
you are corredt the froyo release EB01 has fixed the nav volumn problem
The shift is my first android phone, so i'm still not used to finding where to enable things stuff.
i've been using the google nav on this phone, and i've noticed that the TTS only uses the phone's regular hold-up-against-your-ear speakers. is it possible to switch it to use the speakphone speakers?
Weird. Both telenav and google maps use the speakerphone on mine.

I tried to find a setting, but I could not.
Mine also uses the loudspeaker by default.
Shifted from my PG06100 using XDA App
Mine uses loudspeaker by default too. I don't think there is a setting to not have it as speakerphone because that's not very intuitive.
I know this is a stupid thing to ask but I have to ask it anyways, did you check to see if you turned up navigation volume all the way?
it turns out, it does use the loud-speaker. it's just not very loud. i'm coming from a t-mobile shadow. there aren't a lot of good things i can say about that phone, but it has some really loud loudspeakers.
when i play mp3s on this thing though, it's quite loud.
wonder what's up.
There is a separate navigation volume... Make sure it is all the way up
I also notice the speaker phone isn't loud at all. Are there any other that feel the same way?
I had a windows phone a couple of years back that someone made a hack to make the speaker phone louder. I wonder if someone could do something similar for this phone.

I did at first, but after some tweaking it works great.
Search for DSPManager.

Is it possible to port over just the feature to use on other roms besides stock? I'd imagine it's just a few files that can be extracted

thought this was going to be a thread about the horrible speaker volume (even after the update) lol..........
i also thought it was about speaker volume... its pretty bad.
I know its bad that's why I want it fixed lol. I haven't heard anyone mention a dramatic difference in volume on 2.3.5 so I don't know if it's even worth Porting over anymore and I flashed stock 2.3.5 for a split second but didn't noticea difference myself. I guess volume+ is our only option.
P.s. if you do decide to use volume+ don't forget to delete dsp manager or you'll get fc's

is it a software volume bug, or is it a tiny speaker problem? honestly, at least for ringer volume when the phone is display down and the speaker is upwards its loud enough...when the speaker is facing the table (specially cushioned surfaces) i cant hear it ring.
-gk
The ringer is loud enough (with the right ringtone lol), bit music or anything else is awful....
i dont listen to music, maybe thats why i never realized that. The tiny speaker being on the backside does annoy me though.
