I have no idea what that means.
You need a custom recovery image to install a ROM + theme. So download ROM Manager from the Market and install the ClockworkMod.
I'm guessing you have a Desire, seeing as it's posted here: Go into Desire Android Developement and find a ROM you like. Since you're into themes I suggest OpenDesire, LeeDroid or Cyanogen.
Flash the ROM
Boot the phone
Reboot to recovery
Flash the theme
Boot the phone
Now it's all sexy.

I just got my hands on the new G1 that's been marketed for the Canadian provider Rogers. The phone doesn't get released till wednesday.
It runs the 1.5 firmware (customized for the Rogers brand).
Wondering if anyone is interested in a dump off this phone.
Yes we are interested in a dump of that freaking phone
Please dump I will be glad to give it haykuro if you cant get in contact with him
What's the big thing about the Rodgers G1? Been hearing a lot about it on here.
It's an "official" version ROM with the HTC custom applications like Exchange. Kind of like Haykuro's 6.0, but fully working.
I'd like to know the same thing.... who says it's running anything different than the vanilla cupcake ROM?

We know this for sure? Would be nice if it had some fully working un-watermarked 'Rosie' features... Yeah... I need to go to bed...

Rogers is claiming that it's HTC branded firmware. I'm sure the OP can confirm. It's definitely not Rosie, that stuff is unreleased alpha-quality code.
I believe it's been confirmed numerous times that it has exchange from HTC since it's not a "with Gooogle" phone.
sadly every dialog is suffixed with ',eh' - all occurances of 'about' have been replaced with 'aboot,' and the 'ou' naming scheme has been implemented for words like colour.

Correct. There is no mention of "Google" anywhere on the phone. I've attached a few pictures.
But since I'm a noob at the whole android thing, I need some help dumping this ROM.
- From the searching I've done, I'm guessing that Nandroid 2.0 is the tool to use?
- Do I need root access to do a ROM dump?
Any idiot proof guides out there I can use to get this done for you guys?

Yeah it's going to need rooted for a full dump. Does it have fastboot? (power + camera)
But we also know what most of this firmware is going to be like, you can probably get away with an "adb pull /system system" and get us most of the stuff we need to start hacking on it.
Here's what the POWER+CAMERA button show

download recovery.img from

or snag this..

and extract the recovery.img
then get fastboot set up and do:
fastboot boot recovery.img
then hit alt+b to make a backup to the SD

I <3 Android.
I see that the radio's different as well. Is there a way to get that off the phone as well?

FlashPlayer is Hero only, so unless you're installing that, good luck.

You shouldn't have deviated from stock in the first place. I would even go as far to say you shouldn't have even rooted your phone. You're going to get flamed....... You should have searched, and that tutorial is pretty basic. Figure the **** out

I agree.
However, I will admit that "tutorial" makes my eyes bleed. I cringe every time I have to link to it.

Click the link in my signature.
Instead of the zip files in my thread, download the zip file from the shipping ROM thread (" You may get the Original Shipping Image from HERE or thru Modaco HERE. [22607 build] ").
before going back to stock i recommend trying cm.5.0.6 rom, its 10x better then stock.
This may not be to your liking, but why not go with Cyanogen? Its UI is optimized for the Nexus One. Combined with HelixLauncher it's even more kick a$$.
Maybe i should try cyanogen
I heard that its really good :] And it is full version? not alpha like desire ROM, right? :]

they're not buggy but compared to cyan the battery life just sucks. I don't think many people use those ROMS as their primary OS.
not sure weather this has been answered before... i just had to replace my phone... it's completely stock. any way to remove some of the default applications without flashing my device? IE: Guitar Hero game... Blockbuster app... Transformers app... thank you, any help or a direction to look at is greatly appreciated.

I just delete them from my SD and take the file out of the windows/start menu, programs and that seems to do the trick. The blockbuster and barns and noble apps are not really there just the link to go online and download and install, but I am may not be completely be removing the files from the phone
I'm confused a bit. Please, can somebody explain, if I use Sense2 ROM for my Desire (CoolHD or RCMixHD, for example), what themes should I look for and where? Here, in this forum, or in DesireHD's "Themes and Apps"?
And how to decide which one should work with ROM I use (besides installing it + doing nandroid restore after next bootloop )
Sorry for noob question, I'm android-man just for a few weeks.
Well i no that carbonara wrks on rcmxhd so just do nandroid backups try flash if it doesnt wrk jus boot recovery and reinstall backup i recomend pcb carbon ara awezome theme

But I'd like to understand in general - what kind of themes should I look for? Desire or DesireHD?

Normally every theme should work.
You can search in ''Themes and Apps'' for themes or in ''Development''.
I'm using ReflexTSense HD 1.8 right now and every theme I installed works like a charm.
But dont forget, if you found a great theme, male sure it'll working with the rom u're using by posting in the theard.
Hope I could help you
Hi normally my theme work with ReflexTSense HD 1.8 (confirmed by user), check my signature fir the link. Have a good flash lool
