He doesnt want them he wants to remove them. And at this point I believe the only way to do it is to flash a custom rom.

I just delete them from my SD and take the file out of the windows/start menu, programs and that seems to do the trick. The blockbuster and barns and noble apps are not really there just the link to go online and download and install, but I am may not be completely be removing the files from the phone

Rogers magic removing standard apps?

How do i get rid of some of the preinstalled apps like the rogers home, ringtones, blah blah apps which are just browser shortcuts
and i accidentally installed HTC Sync on my thing and i found out that it installed a few packages on my phone, could i somehow remove those ?
PS: has anyone rooted the rogers magic yet?
thanks.
bump: anyone?
I'd also like to know the answer to this one. Anyone out there with any suggestions on how to remove these useless apps?
I think the only way would be to root the whole rom and flash one of the custom ones here on xda.
not sure which one would be the best to do this and I would like to know also..
maybe you can factory reset the phone? because that's what I did to my Smartone HK Magic and it just uninstall all the pre-installed apps from Smartone HK. and it also let me start using my own widgets I wasn't able to do it with the pre-installed apps

Messaging Bug

Has anyone else found the messaging app to be extremly buggy? I have the stock ATT rom and haven't made any major mods to it. It's constantly freezing, the text input field is always hidden, etc. Is there a fix somewhere? At this point I'm even willing to pay for an app, but I can't find any. SMS chat doesnt work with 6.5.
Please and thanks for any help!

Thanks! If that works, you will be me hero!

I'm inexperienced with custom ROMs, but I think its a 50/50 chance. Give it a shot and if it doesn't work you can simply unistall it. Everything will be like before. That's the beauty of CABs.
no luck

did you get the error before installation? if so, my guess is htc put in a check to see what rom ur running so the fix cant install on another device. maybe a good dev here can decompile the cab and remove the check/block.
cannot d/l from htc site....
Just got around to installing this. My messaging app wasn't giving me much trouble prior to now, so i just installed it. It froze right when I opened the first message and backed out. Just tried again and it froze again. Way to go HTC.

I would love to get these off of my HD2 also. I assume that it would take a new ROM to do so. Anyone have any suggestions???
If I don't remember wrong, pre-installed apps are integrad in the ROM so you can't uninstall those.
I already asked this before, the answer so far I got is...no, you can't since they are in ROM, unless you install a clean ROM...
you can still delete files, not sure if it helps.

It really depends what you want to do, but check out the themes section of the Leo xda forum, that will give you an insight.
Standards things like installing Cookies HomeTab/MaxManilla, altering wallpapers, stucturing the start menu ok.
The themes section will give you cabs you can install which will place new icon sets on your phone (and replace the original which can be reverted) and give it a slight new look.
First read read read this forum...then decide what you want to do with your phone. Enjoy!
does the phone need to be jailbroken? b4 installing anything else.

By "JailBroken" you mean HSPL, no.
You only need to install HSPL (check the ROMS section for more info/definition) if you want to upgrade the ROM to a non-official version.
There are updates for most providers and from HTC available from the HTC Support site which you can install without having to HSPL, which means all warrenties stay intact (Please make sure you read how to do this from the HTC site properly as it could leave it unusable, and "Flashing" the ROM will always perform a Hard Reset so will get rid of all of your data.
Any *.cabs that you install are just programs and can be installed removed as you want.

[Q] What do i need to cook a rom?

Hello,
i wondered wether i need to be a computer genius to cook my own rom. On all the roms you get tons of apps, and I want to make one with as good as no extra apps (just some basic ones like youtube and opera). I downloaded the ervius kitchen, but what do i need to start? Do i have to download a sort of 'master rom' in which you can disable things you dont want?
Thanks in advance,
Kapie
Im watching the youtube tutorial by lion75y, and i need the stock rom. I bought my device second handed, and i am not able to download it from the HTC homepage. Is the blackstone stock rom available somewhere else? I've searched around on the forums, but i couldnt find it...

To be honest mate there is plenty of guides or kitchens to help you. Try typing in "kitchen" or "cooking" into the search and see what threads appear
Also, this may be a good place to start
