anyone else getting double stacked widgets and icons after applying the ota update?
its wierd, even when I reload any of the default scenes, they are still double stacked.
not sure whats going on
I seem to have fixed it by going to applications > all apps > htc sense > clear data/cache > force stop
but lost any custom scenes
yes here too
We have 2 Evo's and the double and sometimes triple and quadruple layered widgets occur on both phones.

Is any body else experiencing lag for their weather animation on the Home tab? I don't have this problem on my Weather tab, it looks great. Only when in my home tab, it looks like it runs smooth for half the time, then it gets really chopppy and slow.
I've already tried messing with my shortcuts, and removing my sd card, but those aren't the problems. I also have BSB Tweaks installed, and tried disabling the power saver option, but that didn't do anything either.
Mine does that as well sometimes, not always.
You could try disabling "V-Sync" on the device. Or instead of having the HTC Sense userinterface allocate resources "as needed", you could increase the minimum and maximum amount of resources it is always guaranteed to be utilizing at any given time.
Try searching the forums for those minor registry tweaks and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Just did a hard reset, that seemed to do the trick. Also using a 8GB class 6 SD card now, with not too much performance increase. May go back to the stock 16GB class 2 card for more storage.
check ur task manager.
you could be using up too much memory. if you have applications running in the background when the home screen weather animation is loading it could slow it down.
i noticed this with my touch pro 2 as well.
I have noticed the HD2 is lagging terrible when The wifi is trying to connect or the data connection changes. When the signal changes it even lags the device. I am not sure if this is a radio problem or what because all roms so far have this issue
Any updates on this issue?
I've discovered that when I hard reset my HD2, it turns out pretty nice. No lag at all, clouds and screenwipers really smooth =)
But then the breaking point, I install the cookie's tabs, it installs .net framework, immediately the weather animations start to lag..
I don't wanna uninstall the cookies tab (and .net) because I'm using pretty much every application from those quick links. the winter is coming, I wanna enable the weather animations, but I can't do it right now because it's too irritating and slowing the quick link screen changes. they become laggy too.
oops.. just came here with google search and didn't notice that its t-mobile thread. hope it's not a problem.
So far,
I've done every performance trick mention in these forums, but nothing has changed.
This thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629388
has specific tweaks supposed to increase the performance but no, nothing has changed. VSync is disabled, SENSE memory is increased, but still lagging in the weather application.
Should I just switch to a custom ROM? Makes me think that this'll not solve it since it was running just fine before .net 3.5 as I mentioned before.
Weather is annoying me now because it refuses to update. When I click "update now", the little arrow moves in a circle for a few minutes then nothing changes. It's been doing this since I had my stock 2.13 ROM...I did a Task 29, hard reset, formatted my class 6 SD card, and installed Spike's ROM and it still does the same damn thing...
If I disable phone altogether and turn on WiFi, it will update.
How can I just disable Weather altogether on my home screen without disabling Sense?
Oh yeah, and the stuttering does seem to be related to the data connection trying to sync after coming out of sleep...
You could try installing Cookies Home Tab and using the editor to turn off the animations all together. As far as I know you can't "uninstall" weather from the home tab, but you can turn the animations off and just make it a static image.

Slide to the weather tab tap menu/settings and uncheck update.
hi,
I just figure out the BSB tweaks make animation lag, (since Im new user to HD2) I notice it after installation yesterday, right know after uninstalling the bsb tweak, the cloud motion is not lag anymore....
im on duttylacreme
That annoyed the crap out of me also. When I flashed a new rom it smoothed out. I get stutters when I turn the screen on and it immediately does a check to update the weather, but every other time it's smooth. I'm on miri and dinik's anastasia one from the non tmous roms page. It also fixed any sms lag I had too, if you're experiencing that.
So there's no way to remove the weather app from the phone?

I suppose if you're using cookies home editor you could choose a different weather app to associate with the weather tab of sense and that would not update unless you chose it manually.
you do not need to install or tweak anything to turn the animation from the home screen off, simply select animated wallpaper and choose any wallpaper you want from your sd card or device just as if you were choosing a weather wallpaper
I picked up a Note a couple of days ago, and I've noticed that graphical transitions are slow, almost jerky.
Good examples are when launching the multitasking interface, opening folders in Apex Launcher (everything is the same with the stock launcher, too) and turning the screen off. When turning the screen off, it fades out slowly and in stages rather than smoothly. This may be normal, but if not it's a good example of how bad the animations are.
The phone came wiped, but is there anything I can clear that may have been missed by the original owner and needs clearing down?
Or is this just normal?
Cheers.
go to settings > developer options and select force GPU Rendering, Also go to (in the same menu) Window / Transition animation scale and set them to 0.5 - 1.0 on both.
Wich android version do you have?

Thanks. Doesn't seem any different, though.
I should have mentioned, I'm updated to ICS - 4.0.4.
Thanks.
I have the "Multiple Widgets" option turned on, but it doesn't bring out the "Favorite Apps" and "Camera" options. In the lockscreen when I try to swipe the clock to get to the "+" thing to add a widget, all the clock does is do a partial flip and get stuck. Even when I remove the clock I still can't add widgets to replace it and it comes back when I relock the device. Please someone help me because I'm really stumped.

Setting > Device > lock-screen > set swipe then > multiple widgets > select favorite apps and save
if this config not work first try restart and if problem remains try factory reset.

I already had it set to "Swipe" and turned "Multiple Widgets" on, but there's no "Favorite Apps" option anywhere. Plus the other problems I mentioned.
Silly me, I found the "Favorite Camera" and "Camera" options by tapping the "Multiple Widgets" option. However, I still can't swipe the default clock widget on the lock screen to get to "+" sign and add widgets (all it does is a partial flip and get stuck), and when I remove the the widget I can't add a replacement anyway and it comes back whenever I relock the screen.
Someone please help me because I'm really stumped here.

Did you find a solution to this because I've got the same problem. I set the widgets up no problem when I first got the device but when I came to change them I found that it doesn't work anymore. Something is obviously causing it to fail but I've no idea what. I really don't want to do a factory reset.
After playing around with some RUUs on my E9+, and trying out the HTCCN build, I saw a handful of new features.
App Ops
Auto Start
Brightness Slider in the notification shade
Running app cleaner in the multitask menu
Lockscreen with fewer shortcuts
Now, if I just go to the default.xml in ACC and enable the China Sense flag, then some of these features come back.
I wanted to know where in the device is it determined that certain features are enabled with China Sense.
I went through the majority of the system, but there is nothing glaring obvious that shows any information about it.

I haven't located appops or auto start, but I think that's in actual framework and/or system apps part. @sun_dream might know more exact details
Both settings had appeared under the Security section, towards the bottom. If it would be helpful, I can grab some screencaps and/or a system dump.
back in 2014 i started on a ui design i called symetiumos, i was able to find a team to make it into a launcher but i ended up getting scammed by them they simply left me with it in a very broken unusable state, i released the launcher on the playstore and despite it being broken the response has been overwhelming, so far it has nearly 5 stars and over 300 downloads, i am looking for someone that can help me finish the launcher and fix it's bugs
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.symetium.ui.launcher&hl=en
this is a full list of everything thats remaining some things can be skipped such as automatic appsorting or the modes system (modes system works by combining two identical settings screens into one, it's like backing up your settings on a random launcher, my launcher would have two settings screens one for portrait one for landscape it would use each depending on orientation it's like a launcher that has portrait and landscape settings for grid, but my launcher has it for the entire settings screen, so if you set the color layer to red in portrait and green in landscape then it will be green when you flip the phone, because the launcher changes to a new settings screen in landscape, it's like if you kept backups of multiple settings configs then have the launcher flip between them, each mode uses two settings screens identical ones only difference being what the user adjusts them to.
the main bugs are
1.full appdrawer needs to be replaced or repaired it lags, the icons in it are offcentered, the full appdrawer button needs to be 4 dots, it should be pullable down right now you need to press the x to close it you should be able to pull it down like any other appdrawer, if you set it to disabled then the button should not be visible any more.
2.the "system" category needs to be removed it lags and it shouldn't be there, the team added it based on a guess.
3.when scrolling through apps the dockmenu can close itself this is a bug
4.you should be able to scroll all around the dockmenu so when you get to the end category it scrolls back to the homescreen like you'd expect and vice versa meaning if you scrolling the other side you will enter the dockmenu from the last category rather than first, right now it blinks out rather than scrolling
5.homescreen appdock needs work right now it's pretty limited you can't set any icons or even what the current icons do, it also needs a button to enable or disable it
6.a menu needs to be made for customization of categories
7.homescreen needs the standard pinch menu to get to the launcher settings button, wallpaper button etc
8.launcher needs a general settings section with the following options
enable/disable navigationbar (this simply enables or disables the navigationbar in the current mode and orientation)
enable disable statusbar (this simply enables or disables the stock android statusbar in the current mode and orientation)
enable disable persistent statusbar (this makes it easy or difficult to reveal the statusbar, right now it's difficult and you can't do anything about it)
enable disable persistent navigationbar (this makes it easy or difficult to reveal the navigationbar, right now it's difficult and you can't do anything about it)
9.the launcher should not resize itself depending on dpi all sizes should be available on any device and any dpi, the launcher needs a "dockmenu size" option under dockmenu where the user can set any size that is available through different dpi's, size settings needs to work for the custom statusbar as well, the dock has many more size options through dpi changes rather than the size options in settings so add all these options in settings and prevent it from resizing itself depending on dpi
automatic dpi resizing can be ok if it chooses a setting from the settings menu, just like when windows chooses a resolution thats recommended) the user should be able to have any size they want on any device regardless of dpi, if automatic then it should simply choose a size thats available in the settings.
10.color layer bugs not filling properly and the dock glitching out sometimes where the home icon dissappears and the dot no longer works.
these are the most of whats broken.
full list of whats remaining is below, if anyone wants to help me finish my launcher please let me know.
