Hi guys could you give me some advice, tips before buying hd2. I use to have htc touch hd like year ago and have to say i was absolutely happy with it.now im with X 10- not very happy so i was thinking to go back to htc.
And how about android on hd2- is it working good???
Thank you
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
android works pretty good , has its flaws but i use it every day and i use win mo everyday , i flashed omega xt cht13.3 and radio 2.14.50.04 , the stock rom just sucks in my opinion,so flashing isnt necessary in some cases but it was for me , i absolutely love the phone and how you can customize it and switch back and forth from windows and android , that in itself is a good selling point , screen is awesome ,i cant see my self ever to down grade in screen size , imo its not too big ,but it is the limit, any bigger would just be obnoxious
So, the must have for HD2 Windows Mobile
-Cookie Home Tab (and Editor..)
-Cooked ROM 6.5.5 with Ameba settings (for Softkeybar)
-AE button Plus for remapping button (hardware)
-Opera Mobile 10 or Mini 5.1 (as u want)
-Torch Button -> using Flash
-Clean RAM for manage your RAM..
-JSPA Progam Manager & CSMI for manage icon and folder of the start menu
-Whip2Snap for make screenshot of your mobile screen
-a good lockscreen like S2U2 / or original WM with skin pretty great
For the HD2 Android:
Just choose your ROM, Darkstone builds or Shubcraft (and all the others..) works pretty fine !
Thanks guys and what about the overheating of the phone?
Does all hd2 have that???
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Just get it ,no overheating!!!
Just kidding, its your choice but I whole heartedly recommend it.
BTW Im on stock tweaked ROM and like it.

Will you please give your experience with win 6.5 build 11.
My experience:
Positives: Very cool: More storage
Negatives: Frequent crashes especially upon installation of new programs. Like I installed new version of spb keyboard, it crashed altogether and I had to hard reset.
It is more slower than 6.1.
i thought it was it was a kewl upgrade until i tried it .............
Its much slower than 6.1 not just a little but much slower, looks great but some of the options in the settings menu were missing that i was looking for but all in all i prefer the 6.1 over 6.5....which i loaded back a few mins ago(6.1)....cant wait for 7 next yr to see what tht has to offer but im assuming Viva's processor might its work cut out for it lolololol

Yes I am also of the same opinion. How can I go back to original ROM? Because we have changed the hard spl. I shall be thankful.
well, for me, it works great, except it doesnt have windows live and onenote mobile, i had to download it (except onenote cos i dont need it) on my own... speed is okay, not as fast as wm6.1, startup is slow, the new lock screen, honeycomb and titanium is cool, but the panel for email and text is EXTREMLY BUGGY (they show a X sign and nothing else), album and touchflo 2d seems to respond faster, theres a few bugs but they dont really show up much, the new touch engine (or watever the thing is called for the touch scrolling) is great, but theres touchflo scrolling which makes it really annoying (btw, is there any way to remove the scrolling? i changed the registry but its still there)... but for me, its okay for everyday use...
P.S according to the ORIGINAL POST ON PDAVIET, its based on the iolite rom(i think) and i DONT recommend you guys to upgrade to v12 but wait for v13, so in the meantime, use the v11 rom...

guys, when you say go back to the original rom, do you mean the version with 6.1? all you have to do is flash your viva again but using the
HTC OPAL ROM 6.1 V05 - Build 21014.1.6.0 version you can find in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494083
That rom is from PhamQuang too
its quite good enough,.. but sending message always notify me delivery report, and get load.... , i cant unchecked the box..
MOD! please move to Vogue Upgrading Forum!
I just installed 6.5, but I think I am going back to 6.1
CONS
MD2 is far superior in every way, especially when it comes to email, you can view headers and check multiple accounts quickly, it is much nicer too.
I hate the fact that I cant quickly access my recently used programs.
PROS
it feels a bit faster
Bottom Line
I really think that 6.5 is no big deal, just a bit of eye candy, its funny how microsoft paid big bucks for fashion designers to design some themes instead of investing a couple of thousand dollars for a decent UI expert, they never cease to amaze me with their stupidity.
it is a shame that everybody is going along with it, as if this is the next big thing, it is really a very small baby step. MD2 not to speak of MD3 are far superior in every way.
Have I missed something? What do you guys think?
Which version of 6.5 did you install? The one nfsfan cooked up has m2d in it and thats what iam using... 6.5 w/ m2d as the GUI... i have noticed everything on my phone seems much easier/faster to work. No way id go back to 6.1...

Really? I am gonna try this. Last time I tried 6.5, I did not see M2D
just try nfsfans v8 6.5 rom, if that isnt a good enough reason for you to keep 6.5, then you need to switch to a crackberry
yup... under the today options...uncheck the default and check touchflo...
I didnt like the 6.5 gui either and went straight back to m2d in the options. Just updated to v8 for 6.5 a few moments ago and the options are there... I believe nfsfan had it in is roms for the last few versions...

I use his rom, but MD2 is buggy in 6.5 (i tried v8 too)
I loved his ROM , it's best of both world, but i mainly use M2D , and also SPB Shell 3 , switch it back and forth.
I switched back to 6.1 simply because I hated 6.5's UI on the Today screen.

Buggy in which way? Can you eleborate?
I was using v6 r2 for almost two weeks and it was rock solid...then i switched over to v8 just the other day and again.... rock solid. If you find it "buggy" in his release you should make note of it so he can work on it and try and resolve those issues...
Personally it feels like m2d w6.1 but faster and more stable. Launching Garmin would take some time before hand, and now with 6.5, is 10x faster...
i dont particularly like the large icon start menu. is there anyway to change it to a smaller view of the icons?
I went back to 6.1.
Slingbox Mobile looks like ass using 6.5 unless I disabled both the 6.5 GUI and M2D. It's a big deal for me cause I use Sling a lot. Memory issues somewhere.
Other than that, I think 6.5 with M2D worked pretty good.

I don't know when you encountered that screen glitch, but I experienced a similar issue with NFSFAN's 6.5 rom after I changed themes. A soft reset always cleared up the problem for me.

Slingplayer mobile currently has these version that were just released
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Pocket PC 1.6.0.114 (US)
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Smartphone 1.6.0.62 (US)
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Palm OS 1.00.22 (US)
* Windows Mobile Downloads (UK)
As for an application not working correctly with a pre-release version of WinMO, thats hardly the Chefs fault as the Application might not have a version to even look at yet let alone develop for
What versions of WinMO 6.5 have you tried - different Chefs utilize different kitchens and different items and tweaks as well so without trying all of them you really dont know if one wouldnt work or all wouldnt
Up to you if you want the time to spend with it I dont use it as if I want to watch television, I watch it, if Im out and cant watch some show or event, well thats what bittorrent or hulu is for LOL

Hi Guys,
I' new to the HD2 scene, im after a ROM that has the 576mb of RAM unlocked and is pretty much stock, maybe with latest 6.5 and some bloat removed such as copilot and such. I dont mind a little customisation such as new icons or a darker themed clock as im not a massive fan of the white flip clock.
Is there anything that might appeal to me out there?
Thanks
Paul
As we've all got to start somewhere... I've tried a fair few roms here and here's my experiences so far...
I prefer the stock look too and don't like the added bottom buttons added by WM6.5.x. Also, I've not seen any custom WM6.5.x that doesn't mess up the dialer pad icon (unless someone can point me in the right direction?). I'm generally not too fussed with the 576MB ram hack as I've never gone close to exceeding the standard amount of RAM. I've also got just a slight doubt in my mind about why they've cut off some RAM - possibly bad binning?
Laurentious' L26V4.0 UltimatePOWER (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631042) is very very good in terms of performance and battery life but it does have custom icons for just about everything. The customised icons are however, very well done in my opinion. I do wish though that he'd release one without the customisations like he used to! I've been using his roms ever since the first release but the other day fancied a change back to stock look...
kwbr's Topix 1.6.3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=595318) is probably the one to fit your criteria (and mine too since I'm using it right now). It retains the standard stock look. It is WM 6.5 and has the 576MB RAM hack. I've found it to be running very well for me so far.
Just for your information, should you choose to go with Topix, I'm using v1.6.3 with 2.08 HSPL and Radio v2.10.50.19_2 (the leaked Korean one). So far it's all going very well on the Vodafone UK network.
I've also tried sternas' Artemis, but the dialer icon (whilst petty I know) just annoyed me too much. NRGZ28's Energy ROM was just too over the top customisations wise for me and so that went straight off. Previously i've also tried Miri's ROM which was pretty good too but Topix just seemed more up to date.
you can try my hd2o-roms.
no dialer overlap...
Thanks for the helpful response Kai_
I had looked at the topix rom and i think its probably closest to my requirements so might give it a go, the Ultimate Power rom looks a bit too custom for my liking..
Thanks Also HD2owner i had looked at your rom too but it has the Cookies home tab which while i like the functionality it offers it seems to have distorted text which unfortunately puts me off using it...
the distorted location (overlapping temp in screenshot) was in a previous cookieshometab-version.
it is now fixed... give it a try..
It wasn't that issue i had with Cookie's - it was just that all text was quite blurry to read, especially under the program buttons, it wasnt unreadable just not as sharp as id expect. - i had the latest versions of the Home app and the editor but even with cleartype on it was blurry. I then removed it and Sense wouldn't boot - so now while im in a 'fresh' install i thought id look into banging a new ROM on it.
Im currently using the Stock 1.66 WWE ROM and am quite happy with it but was interested in getting my paws on that hidden RAM
i hope you know that the hd2 is using a more advanced text-filter than clear-type.
it actually looks worse with cleartype enabled (this disables advanced greyscale mode of the hd2).
Well to be honest it makes no difference using Cookies home - the text looks blurred with or without Cleartype - but its fine when not using it so ive decided i dont want to use Cookies - its a real shame as i enjoyed the customisations it offered..
I have Telus cdma Touch Pro 2(wwe)...n i am in love with my phone...i have customized everything n have Mr.X sense 2.1 rom installed with cookie home tab i have also customized the keyboard buttons to start applications...preety cool..i was wondering which is the

Hmmmm dont you think those are all based on ones personal preference and choice?

You should have just done some reading. There's threads out there that cover this... most importantly this thread right here: Rhodium Screens This is usually ALWAYS on the first thread page of the subforum
Thank you so much
n please can any1 recommend me some ringtones
don't know about the ring tones mainly cause I don't like them. When I did use them in the past, I would usually trim a portion of a song that I liked and used it as a ringtone. As far as the rom is concerned, I use cell evo rom series http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622883
Cell Evo Roms are all GSM sim roms rite...i like Energy Rom 2...which rom do u think is really great for battery life for u...i meant 2.5 roms...n for ringtone i use to use Htc mp3 rip software 2...i got a cool funny ringtone u might like..

Just a thought but maybe you might want to change the title of your thread. Judging by the questions you asked, you're not asking what is the best "ROM" available. You want opinions. Opinions on thinks that do not pertain to the ROM itself.
Well in my opinion I believe McCune's Cosmik Debris is the fastest ROM out there. After a clean flash, the screen rotates in like less than a second lol and EVERYTHING on it works fine.
It's super clean and if you want sense 2.1 or 2.5 there's cabs out there that install it onto your phone and you can then install the cookie home tab or what have you.
That's just my 2 cents though ;p.
mrx roms are good

He is asking for a CDMA ROM. Not a GSM ROM.
Well guys, after a couple weeks with the stock TMOBILE rom I conclude that it's just USELESS.
I can't even use the phone... It's getting stuck when I'm trying to call someone, stuck when viewing images, stuck stuck stuck, at least 5 times a day.
Plus a million SOD's a day... I tried everything, from losing all apps, to modifying the registry.
I NEED A NEW ROM
But there are so many over there, I do not know what to choose.
I need:
1. As little visual tweaks as possible, i'd like to take care of that myself (CHT Cooked in is fine though)
2. Maximum system stability and performance, I DON'T WANT HANGS FROM SIMPLE OPERATIONS SUCH AS CALLING SOMEONE
3. No bloatware
4. Not much bugs (ie good support, constantly worked on, not a 1 time "job" )
Basically If it can resemble the stock one, but with more stability, tweaks and performance boosts, then i'm happy.
I have the sticky flashing manual in hand, so all I need is a recommendation.
Looking forward to flashing this thing today, thank you very much XDA.
Energy ROM Cookie's Reference ROM
this is a custom rom close to stock as you're going to get, please make sure you read loads before flashing.

Or the standard sense reference or full. I recommend using the 23569 builds as well. more finger friendly and slightly quicker. Also there is an advantage with the full version in that if you wish to update the rom in future you can backup your settings using the energy settings exporter and then reimport them.
regarding the builds mentioned - can you expand ? links ?
thanks !
Exporter sounds GREAT.
Basically there are two builds of almost all the custom roms. One build will be the latest 6.5 build (21907, same WM version as the stock roms but with some bug fixes) then there is the 23569 (or higher) builds. These are WM 6.5.5. Some big changes here to the way the start menu works and also to the UI to make it more finger friendly. It's also a little quicker than WM 6.5 but (apparently. i've not found any yet) more buggy then WM 6.5. Also as i said (and i've now checked this) custom roms also include newer, less buggy, versions of sense (AKA manilla)
I suggest EnergyROM
Great, I think I will go for Energy.Leo.23569.Sense2.5.Cookie.Reference.Jun.26.7z
Is that OK for me ? (well, is it better than what i have now )
Is there a settings exporter in Energy.Leo.21907 ?
If you have the T-Mobile US HD2, make sure you use the right radio for your device.
That would do nicely although i don't know if it includes the exporter tool. You may want to look at the full cht version.
Good point about the radio. I have a UK version so i can use whatever i want. The right radio roms for the TMOUS devices have verison numbers that look like this: 2.xx.50.xx. the 50 bit is important as radios with the 50 in it have the unlock code for the extra ram in them and are compatible with the 1024MB rom chips. Also never ever use a radio with a version number like this: 2.xx.51.xx. The 51 radios will brick your phone and they can not be recovered as far as i am aware.
And yes afaik there is a setting exporter in the WM 6.5 builds
My radio is 2.10.50.26
Is that OK ?
Just how much faster is the 6.5.5 over the regular one ? I'm not liking that lower start button anyway so if it's not really faster i'll pass.
Looks kinda like an iPhone.. Less " serious "
m3ph - what ROM have you had in mind with the Exporter build in and the upper start button and CHT ?
I thank you for all the help... I am feeling positive about my HD2 again.. Can't wait to flash it !
Just making sure I get everything right about all the different Energies so I don't reflash and reflash a thousand times... Making a concious decision

the radio will be fine.
The difference in speed is not massive so i wouldn't worry about it.
The rom i'm thinking of will be at this link: http://hotfile.com/dl/50755734/bde591c/Energy.Leo.21907.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jun.26.Take2.7z.html
Sorry if i'm being a little slow. i'm trying to eat my din, while texting the mrs, getting nfs world beta to work and figure out why sense will not show around 3500 of my messages and thinks my sister is my best mate
Deal, I will burn that ROM then, in the 21907 version and settle down.
Does it have the exporter for future upgrades ?
Looks like i'm fixed then ! Thanks ! What version is the faulty Sense that thinks your sister is your best mate ? hahah
Sorry to hear that... my stock ROM still works fine... I did not even update it yet - this one was right from the get-go
Well, I'm on Energy CHT now and IT'S A DIFFERENT PHONE !
WOW.
Thanks guys. You saved my phone and my money !
Now install chainfires 3D driver patch v2 on it and leocpuspeed v4 you'll be shocked.
Wooo Hoo ! This phone is ON FIRE now
Now we're talking !!
Thanks man ! Any more tips ? hehe
What a coincidence. I'm also having lots of problems with my TMobile UK Rom, same freezing, etc.
I have seen quite a few Roms that I'd be interested, but most of them don't mention whether they will work with a locked T-Mobile handset, and if they do, it only refers to TMobile US version.
Will any Rom work on a T-Mobile UK locked handset, or would I also have to flash a new radio. I have 2.07.50 at the moment.
Like I said, I've seen quite a few Roms that I like, but just concerned in case I flash a Rom that's not compatible.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

if you have a wifi router in your house get wifi remote access. It allows you to transfer files to and from the phone using a web interface over the wifi. It also allows you to edit the registry "remotely". Really handy little tool that.
Also have a look at omarket. some handy tools can be got from there but be careful not everything is Leo compatible.
Coreplayer is handy if you wanna watch tv shows or movies. just set the video mode to raw frambuffer if the picture looks scrambled. This one isn't free but is definitely worth paying for coz tcpmp (it's free cousin) isn't as good. I also use srs WOWHD with this to improve the sound. look for 1.5 V2.
The only more i can say is use a PIM backup tool regularly. something like MS myphone or PIMBackup. Saves some time if you don't have an exchange server to store you contacts, mail etc

My advice to you would be to stick to a rom that says it is tmous compatible. that way it will work on any leo but the phone will still be sim locked. so if you wanted to sim unlock it you would need to get an unlock code from TMOUK
