Okay, so I got bored this weekend and decided to try go go the O2 route and get eclair on my AT&T streak. I followed the steps exactly as listed via streaksmart.com. I even tried the walkthrough on modaco's site. I can get it to the O2 1.6 no problem, but when I try to update to the 2.1 rom, my screen stays black when it's supposed to be installing, for hours, and never applies. I have tried rom 8105 and 6941 with no luck. Both do the exact same thing. I have tried google-fu and searching here, among other forums. I wasn't really able to find anything. Any ideas?
I was able to upgrade to 21build 6941 following Modacos steps. Makesure you do the 4399 recovery step first via fastboot...then upgrade to 6941
Turns out I had a bad bootloader.. After reflash number 4, I was able to install with no problem. Gogo Eclair!

Im trying to load a custom rom onto my XV6900. I got everything together and went a head but ran into an issue. I'll start with all the phones history. I got it and then when the update to 6.1 leaked I installed that. Now just recently I started by following this tutorial http://www.atwistedweb.com/xv6900/index.html. I completed everything up until install upgraded radio with no problems. Then on this step I kept having an issue where it would flash loding but then just go to the boot screen and not do anything. After playing with it for a while I figured maybe the 6.1 update took care of this so I moved on. I got the same problem with the next step which after a little bit I figured out was because I wasnt formatting the card correctly. So then I started the ROM flash with no problem. It loaded and the progress bar completely filled up quickly. The issue is now it is just stuck saying update in progress and has been for about 20 min. Im not sure if its because I didnt do the radio update or if its somthing else. I figured before I do anything I would see what people suggest I should do next. Should I soft reset? Do you think its bricked now or will I be able to try another flash? Please let me know where to go from here. Oh and also the rom im trying to flash is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487

Ok, just try and download nfsfan's 6.5 rom, put you phone in bootloader mode, (power, camera, softreset) The colored icoke screen should come up. Connect your phone to your computer with your usb cabe, on the bottom of the screen it will say usb connected (or something like that). Than just run RomUpdateUtility in the zip file you downloaded with the rom. It will connect to your phone and update it. After it's done, before it loads into windows perform a hard reset (send key, end key, and softreset). Once it's doing restoring again, allow it to boot up.
Should be okay after that. I've done several of them with no issue. Sometimes in rare cases you need to flash the latest bell rom first, and than update to nfsfan's 6.5 after that. Don't worry it won't 'relock' your phone.
Good luck
Ok here is an update on the phone. I tried installing the radio update but it froze on cdma. So then I grabed the verizon 6.1 update and reflashed it. So now im back to square one. What steps should I follow from wm 6.1 to a custom rom? Do I need to do the radio update or is the Rev A. included in the 6.1 update enough? If I need to do the radio update how would I go about that? Then is there a better process to follow for the ROM install?

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you simply want to flash a custom ROM or do you want to unlock the GPS too? If you are trying to unlock the GPS then this tutorial may not help you. http://www.atwistedweb.com/xv6900/index.html
I assume that your phone is already unlocked with 2.31. Once your phone is unlocked all you need to do is flash your custom ROM. This is unless you want to unlock the GPS. I would not worry about upgrading your radio just to upgrade it as there probably no benefit. I wouldn’t do it unless you knew of someone in your area that had success with better signal.
If you want to unlock your GPS I would follow this tutorial. As people have had success.
http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?title=Pocket_PC_WIki:FIX_VERIZON_GPS
[1] Unlock with 0.40.coke
[2] Flash Sprint ROM RUU_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_1.12.651.1_2.13.00_SPC_NV133_Ship DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN
[3] Unlock with 2.31.coke
[4] Flash Verizon ROM RUU_Vogue_VZW_WWE_3.14.605.1_Radio_3.37.77_Ship DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN
[5] Flash any custom rom
[6] Skip
I would recommend using NFSFAN’s ROM. The above procedure should allow you to use your GPS with TomTom, Garmin, & such.
do the tutorial above for gps.
and if you need more info or want stuff to customize it, go to my faq,
but the above walkthrough is the one you want if you plan to use gps.
Hi gang,
Any progress to report on rooting Sapphire 1.6 Tmobile ROM? I know it's early and people are still receiving the OTA update, but I'd imagine that most have received the 1.6 update OTA by now.
Also,... looking for direction on ROMs containing NATIVE EAS (Exchange Activesync).
Thanks

Tmobile MyTouch 1.6
Yeah Please someone!
I just spent 5 hours trying to root this tmobile mt3g 1.6 and had no success. My copilot quit on me after 1.6 upgrade, trying to go to cm 4.1.11.1 which I heard was the latest version that works with copilot.
I did the OTA update to 1.6, and then downgraded to 1.5. Once I did that, I used flashrec to install cm-updater 1.4, and from there it was a piece of cake to flash Cyanogen's latest (4.1.999) mod.
Here is the link to the image you need to put on your phone: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BLM4EDGE
Download that file, make sure it's named sappimg.nbh, reboot holding power and the volume down button. It will find the file and ask you if you wanna flash, say yes. Once you've rebooted you'll be in 1.5... now you can install flashrec and from there install a recovery image (like Cyanogen's Recovery 1.4).
Guide: http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-unroot-your-mytouch-3g/
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
those are instructions to unroot........
I believe that Relentless Rooter might be able to handle even the 1.6 firmware. Also, Superboot by Paul @ MoDaCo should also do the trick.
Do a little research, and I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for. Best of luck.
I've tried Relentless Rooter. Problem is, I'm on Windows 7. Doesn't seem to like the USB drivers. I'll give Superboot a try.
Thanks!
Just tried Superboot. Received "FAILED (remote: not allow)". I thinks it's my SPL (1.33.0006).
Thanks for the suggestion though.

someone correct me if im mistaken but i always thought you had to go from Donut (1.6) to Cupcake (1.5) and then flashed a rom with a Donut ... That's how is supposed to be right?
//EDIT: I found this @ TheUnlockr
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/how-to-root-a-donut-phone-android-1-6/
Tried the Unlocker already but without Unrooting back to Cupcake. Now forgive me but, even unrooting back to Cupcake will still leave me with the same Radio and SPL, correct? I have the 0006 SPL which I thought was the issue with rooting.
The recovery image doesn't flash the Radio and SPL also or am I confused?
Thanks
1. DOWNGRADE to 1.31 using this tutorial.
You do this by copying the RUU on your Goldcard and executing it.
2. Keep your Goldcard in, install this RUU.
Maybe other RUU files work too, I tried this one only. After successful install, check for updates on your phone, upgrade to 2.1-update1 and then again to FroYo!
It didnt work for me without step #1.
Edit: Instead of the RUU mentioned above under #2, you may install other Vodafone RUUs adapted to your country. Haven't tried them out though, but the UK Vodafone RUU seemed to work according to macnpaul.
this will give you vodaphone firmware with branded apps/etc? does the vodaphone froyo not have the CID check?
this gave me froyo with a boot screen from A1 and as far as I can tell no vodafone apps.
did you use the RUU_Legend_Vodafone_AT_GER_Mobilkom_1.31.177.3.. instead of the RUU mentioned in the tutorial or after downgrading to 1.31. as explained in the tutorial?
does this involve rooting ?
cos that tutorial seems to be for rooting :\
no, I don´t think this involves routing,
I think this changes the version number for you get no error 140 when loading an older RUU
This method does NOT involve rooting.
Do one step after the other. First you install the first ROM (non-Vodafone), then you install the second ROM and then the upgrade path to froyo is available to you. This avoids the [140] error.

HELP!!
I did exactly as described in the tutorial, i.e. downgraded my debranded Voadafone Legend from 2.05 to 1.31 and then installed the German 1.31 rom. No problems. I then used the phone to upgrade OTA to german vodafone 2.05, again no problem. Finally I then used OTA to get Froyo. The update downloaded OK and seemed to install OK. However, when the phone rebooted the touchscreen doesn't work and I can't unlock the phone to use it. I've tried rebooting several times by removing the battery and also clearing the cache and doing a factory reset - all to no avail. The phone works as a can call it but I can't answer it as tghe screen doesn't work.
As I can't get into the phone at all I can't even set debugging mode to downgrade back to something that works.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in anicipation.

Look here, this might help... others have experienced it too, it does not seem to relate to the update method.

Yeh, I had a look at that earlier. He managed to get into the phone though so he could make changes. Mine is just stuck solid on the lock screen. I did just notice that when it is starting up the language on the lock screen goes from german to english and then back to german. Weird.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Yes I can. Will that help?
Another thing I tried that didn't help was renaming the German Froyo update file as update.zip and then installing from the SD though recovery. The full intallation seemed to happen but the screen still stays locked.
I also tried extracting firmware.zip from the update, renaming it to legeimg.zip and then puting it on the SD card. With a standard SD card fastboot says incorrect CID or something similar. With a goldcard it says no image or wrong image.
If it's of any use to anybody the Hboot version is on the phone 0.43.0001.
Probably a stupid question, I got a debranded vodafone legend with all the latests updates (apart from 2.2 obviously) and my hboot is 0.43.0001. But where can I check my rom version? Or is it 2.1 as shown under settings - software?
its something like 2.05.405.2 a little bit further down the menu.
Thanks that is what I ment. So I do need to downgrade first. Does anybody happen to have a mirror for the ruu file? Because shipped roms doesn't seem to work atm. All downloads get cut off.
Massive thanks to RunSeven
I followed the link to downgrade but used a vodafone UK rom (instead of the one mentioned) to put my Legend back to how it was before I debranded it. That allowed me to upgrade to FroYo using the OTA updates.
Obviously I now have the branding back, but I can live with that.
Worked for me!!
thanks !
Basically i'm after any advce please.
I debranded my Legend a few weeks ago (was UK Voda) its now on 2.03.405.3
I have an option ota to go to 2.05 then pressumably to froyo.
Do i give it a go, has anybody been able to get debranded to froyo via ota.
Or do i re-create a goldcard and go back to Voda 1.32 which i have downloaded ready.
If i stick with debranded and try froyo will it be any harder to go back to branded Vodafone after?
Or option 3 should i stick where i am and wait for a 2.2 RUU?

No, it won't be harder, I think. Probably the update to Froyo will fail with debranded rom, that is all.

Don't know if that will ever arrive.
Hey there,
I realize there are a ton of posts about the Dell Streak being stuck at the dell logo and I've spent hours trying to read through them and try each issue.
My issue is that I'm stuck at the dell logo. Earlier today i was bored with 1.6 and was about to update to 2.1 and then eventually 2.2.
Everything went smoothly, and i was quite impressed, until i realized my SIM wasnt being recognized after i did the official O2 2.2 upgrade. I'm using a rebelsim so i thought it would work? :/ regardless, I decided it was in my best interest to just go back to 1.6 until i had time to try to get dj_steve's working. In the process of trying to revert back, i'm stuck at the logo. I even tried doing a nandroid restore from a fellow with a rogers backup on this site and I end up getting and error "Error while formatting DATADATA: !". When i try to boot the device, same old stuck logo...
I'm really out of options. i've spent hours upon hours trying so many different things and could really use a hand. If it helps, i'm on the Telus network on a Rogers streak. Before all this, everything was working except MMS.
Thanks in advance, all!
Chris
After many, MANY hours, I believe I've fixed it. Although it seemed my Streak had nothing, and I thought i had wiped it..., the only thing that worked was downgrading back to the 8105 2.1 build, which sucks in my opinion... but at least my phone isn't bricked anymore.
I am experiencing this problem. I was @ 2.2, then attempted to downgrade back to 1.6 as Rogers has released their official 2.2. Going from 2.1 Build 8105 to 1.6 Build 4399 seems to have screwed me up.
I am unable to get past the boot screen. I tried reloading the 2.1 and the 1.6 build but to no avail. HELP!!!
OK, got myself out of the stuck @ Dell Logo/Stuck at black screen during update.pkg jam.
Just QDL the sucker.
Now, how do I install the official Rogers 2.2 update after using the QDL tool?
Can I just download and install, or what do I need to do to revert back to some version to be able to install the Official Rogers 2.2 update?

Some have reverted all the way back to 1.6. There is this solution offered at Modaco.
I have an unlocked Streak, so no experience with either method.
Ok im not sure what i am doing wrong but i cant seem to gor from my stock 1.6 to 02 2.1. I am following the guide found here but when i get to step 12. It goes to install gets about a quarter of the way and it just reboots. What am i doing wrong?
Not Android Development
Moving to General
Hey, I had an issue with flashing, more getting stuck on the Dell logo upon boot and not able to go any further, but I then founf this http://dellstreakhacks.com/dell-streak-2-1-downloads-how-tos-rom-superboot-recovery.html and it allowed me to flash to 2.1 stock O2 UK.
This then allowed me to flash DJ_Steve's 1.5.1 Froyo without any issues.
The above link is also the stock flash recovery (which I was looking for originally)
The guide I used to update to a custom rom was this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872214
Hope this helps you out, I know how flustrating these things can be.
Good luck.
