htc hero trackball

i am currently using floyo 1.1.9 and i was wondering if it is possible to increase the sensitivity of the trackball, its fun to use but wayy to unsensitive to scroll through music or webpages
I believe it is hardware related and can't be affected by changing codes.

[Q] I've had enough of this bull****!

I reported a few weeks ago about my keyboard being an arsehole, it's happening to me two or three times a day, and I will have to reset my phone etc. etc. to fix it. I get nervous while writing messages, as I just have a feeling it's going to happen, it makes me want to not text.
I <3 this phone, and I <3 Android. I don't want another phone, I love the Xperia Play.
Anyone got any ideas?
Have a look, I took a video of it. It basically registers other touches on the screen while texting that I just didn't make...

As you can see it also happens when I just HOLD the screen, not even tapping.
It usually happens with . -> ALT and BKSP -> Z

You think that there's a hardware fault? I unlocked the bootloader, if I relock it, they won't know the difference and it'll be covered under warranty, right?
Maybe its just the keyboard.apk ? Try another keyboard app and see if it doesnt help...

Wow that would be so annoying...I use swype so I'm not experiencing this problem...try a different keyboard.
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk
Try a different keyboard before you try a warranty claim.
Look for HTC IME Gingerbread on these forums, it much better than stock too.
I am having the same issue, and I USE SWYPE.
It seems to happen when my fingers are really warm, usually when I've been on the laptop for a while.
Also, when I come out of the bath, and dry off, just after, the texting just goes insane and keeps beeping at me and pressing other buttons instead. It is so frustrating.
What's strange is that when I turn it into qwerty landscape.. it doesn't do it as much. Still does occasionally, but generally will fix my issue.
I doubt it is a hardware fault. Maybe it's my screen protector being odd.

I've tried pretty much every keyboard out there that i have heard of. from better keyboard to swype.
I came across another called FlexT9 the other day and bought it. Its by far the best i think. very quick, responsive and accurate. supports gestures and you have the swype funcion aswell (which i think is better than the official swype keyboard )
check it out: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nuance.flext9.input
Maybe an idear to do a factory reset throug clockwork mod and then a fresh start from the unrooted .145 tft on, after that the rom you want to install.

This happens on all capacitive screens if you have wet/sweaty fingers.. If you're fingers are not sweaty then warranty is looking good.
What does the stock keyboard on stock rom react like?

Happens as well. Not as bad. Wouldn't say the fingers are overly sweaty or wet.

4.1.2 broke swiping?...

Is anyone else having problems with swiping left and right etc since 4.1.2?
My device recognises the swipe but doesn't complete ie when ctolling through home screens the page won't move to the next page it will stay where it is and you just see the page move a little bit and then go back.
Hope that makes sense.
Please reply if you're having this problem or not
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I've noticed this as well since 4.1.2 but it only happens for the first few seconds after switching the screen on. I've had to apply a bit more force in swiping to bring down the Notifications or to go from screen to screen on Home and the app drawer. Gently flicking the screen doesn't work and stuff like Notifications just flips back up, but after 20-30? seconds it works fine again.
I've noticed this aswell, but don't think the new update is the cause as I was experiencing it before.
Just out of curiosity do you use another device such as HOX? Because I have a HOX, and the swiping is much smoother on that, flicking goes from screen to screen rather than a drag which the Nexus required, if you do use another device perhaps its just the change in device like my case ?
Hmmm.
Cant decide whether or not to take it back and try a replacement.
As said above i have to now use a full swipe across the screen with my finger while holding the tablet in the other hand. I cant just use one hand and flick it with my thumb like i used to be able to.
Ive done a factory reset but that hasnt helped at all.
Ill upload a video of the problem soon so you guys can compare it to yours.
OK heres a video of the problem...
Let me know if you guys have the same
Bump

I've noticed that my home screen is not as responsive, though I can't tell in your video if it's as severe. I have to make a strong swipe to move to the next page or it will just bounce back to the current page I'm on. So sometimes it takes me a couple times to switch screens since I'm used to it normally changing. Hope that makes sense.
I run CNA 3.8.0 which uses 4.1.2; I haven't noticed that problem previously on 4.1.1
I also have to swipe the notification bar further in order for it to stick. I used to only have to go 1/3 to less than 1/2 of the screen for it to work.
I have the same issue
Rom is pa 2.23 kernel isn't changed

I hope google will solve this with 4.2
Same issue, would agree that it is worse for the first 20-30 seconds after waking up the screen. Really is quite a pain.
This definitely happens for me, and it definitely started with the 4.1.2 update. It's not a big deal to me, but I can't believe Google didn't catch it.

Glad its not just my device thats broke.
Lets hope 4.2 sorts it out.
How did google not notice this when they were doing tests...
Only place I notice this is home page and app drawer. New with 4.1.2, and quite irritating. I blame the Apple rubber band patent!

I've got a new c9O 32GB and mine does the same thing. Its better if I use one hand to hold it from the edges while using the other hand to touch. Using one hand to hold and swipe/scroll/ anything is an effort in futility. And its not just at the Home screen/App menu for me. It also locks up completely from time to time. Do we know what kind of memory the 32GB model uses? Not happy about this at all. Asus really screwed up on this one.

I have this issue as well. My first nexus which was a 16gb didnt have this problem but my current one which is a 32gb does this, especially with the notification bar which is quite annoying. Not sure if its because of 4.1.2 or if its the hardware itself because it updated immediately when i got it so didnt have a chance to use the 32gb before it updated.
has anybody tried the 4.2 update to see if it has fixed this?
Bump . I'm waiting for mine to come in the mail from Asus.

I think the problem is gone in 4.2.
At least I have not seen it yet - swipe across half the screen works again to change page.
I still get it in 4.2 :crying:

Home lag on verizon versions?!?! *LAUNCHER REDRAW updated w/ vids*

i don't get it...how has no review shown this at all?
when you go home, the phone lags out for like 2 seconds. you can't switch screens..it's like it's unresponsive for a second or two before it starts chugging along. this wasn't shown in any video at all.
try it with keyboard up or without..you'll notice it with keyboard, because when you hit home, it takes like 3-4 seconds for the keyboard to dropdown and go away..that's bc it's like hung up when you're going home.
anyone else notice this? other than that, this phone rocks.
*edit*
the issue is def launcher redraw. when it's redrawing, it doesn't allow you to switch between homescreens or open folders, and it's a delayed response if you attempt to. hopefully our devs can do a modded launcher that won't redraw, or we can get some kinda bulletproof launcher script going.
VIDEOS:
of course when i went to film it, i couldn't get it to do it. took forever, but i finally got something. it isn't the 100% frozen issue, but it shows it getting caught mid-home screen because it's trying to redraw the launcher.

**NOTIFICATION DROPDOWN LAG SOLVED**
and here's the super annoying notification dropdown lag on the lockscreen (this happens when youre on the launcher and you unlock..if you're in a settings menu and your phone locks, and then you hit power and do the dropdown on your lockscreen, it WON'T lag like this..it will only lag if the last place you were was the launcher. wtf is up with this stupid launcher? lol)
turns out that you CAN NOT set a homescreen wallpaper to NON SCROLL, or else you get this annoying lag. as long as you set a wallpaper to SCROLL, then it won't lag at all. makes absolutely NO sense, but yeah. just tested.

ha i should've known it was swiftkey! bah.
i remember when i got the gs4 there were reports of swiftkey literally lagging down the phone by just being installed, even when not in use.
i LOVE that keyboard, but damnit, they really need to optimize it correctly!
Have to agree about SwiftKey. It lags on my nexus 7. It is absolutely frustrating on my gnex. Seems to run fairly well on the nexus 4 and on the s3 with aokp.

eh just uninstalled swiftkey and it made no difference. it's like when you go home, wait a second and then start scrolling, or else you'll notice lag. i'll just stop trying to be so speedy on my phone
A phone with these specs shouldn't lag. I sure hope the bootloader gets unlocked so aosp can be installed. That made a huge difference on the s3. I personally haven't gotten the phone yet. I am trying out a nexus 4 on t-mobile. Unfortunately, I get no signal in my house. So t-mobile is a no go. I was hoping this could be my next Verizon phone, because my gnex lags terribly. Using this nexus 4 is spoiling me quickly.

New blink feed

If you haven't updated sense home yet, it updated blink feed to be discontinued sort of. You now need to download a news app that will integrate with blink feed instead of HTC providing their own liker they have been.
What do you guys think? I don't like that much. Clicking on an article takes you to the app and is few seconds longer to load. Also they removed read later, you have to save the article. To read it, you have to open the news app to see it.
Initially I hated it, cuz I love Blinkfeed. But I'm adjusting.
Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk
What I hate about is - it has ADs
I could get used to it... I Just find that it's slower to load and has a few bugs.
Touch responsiveness feels worse.
I can't find any more the link to the original article.... I May want to read it in chrome to see the pics and vids. In Blinkfeed it used to be at the bottom.
But it does have one good thing....night Mode.
I love the black background.... I can finally read the news at night without feeling like my eyes are being burnt by a thousand suns.
Reverted the update

Yes but I got a popup that said I had to get the new app version within 30 days or it won't work or something along those lines, so I don't think it will work the older versions after.
How would this effect people that use blinkfeed as their home screen? But this doesnt bode well for all other the HTC apps.
