Hello Everyone,
I am new to the Android Realm. I use to have a Touch Pro 2 and now have the Motorola Droid 2. What I am looking for is an app, tweak or setting that will change the app menu from icon view to list view. I had this for my Touch Pro 2 but can't find anything for the Droid 2.
I would recommend Zune home if you're looking for more of a list type home replacement. I bought it and have had no problems using it. I personally am more a Launcher Pro fan.. But I think you'll injoy this app.

Hi i did a search and couldnt find anything on this. Any how i am wondering if it is possible to change the three bottom homescreen buttons to something of my choice. At this moment itis the default menu, phone, personalize buttons. Can i change that? Tia!
It is possible to change the Personalise button if using the Virteouse ROM, see the Development forum. Or try Launcher Pro or ADW from the market, but u will lose use of the HTC widgets. If that is an issue check out Launcher Pro Plus.

thanks for the tip but ive tried those methods previousley and i dont like how it changes the whole ui of the phone. i was wondering if it is possible to leave it as stock as possible and just remap the personalize button to people. thanks!
The closest thing I could think of is using launcher pro you can make it look like stock froyo and it looks almost exactly the same and you could put anything for the buttons. I love it personaly

Hi guys,
i have been using default tab home and i want to try other wonderful homes like go launcher and launcher pro.
Could you tell me what do i need to do in order to replace home and once i install new home does it mean it would overwrite my existing home and i would not be able to revert it back to tab default home. Do i need to root my device?

download launcher pro from market
also try ADW launcher
No, you don't need root.
When you dowload it from the Marketplace, the next time you hit your home key your phone will throw up a list of all the installed Launcher/Home applications asking you to choose which one you want to use. At the bottom will be a checkbox asking if you want to "always" use the application you choose.
If you check the always box and later become unsatisfied with that launcher and want to go back to the old one, you can either download something like "Home Switcher" from the Marketplace, or go into Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications and find your current launcher (the one you last chose to "always" use). Click on the clear defaults button on its page and next time you hit home you'll be presented with the choices again.
Thanks a lot for such a nice reply. I am starting with launcher pro now. Do you have any preferred list of homes?

Panda home is an interesting one to try.
I use ADW Ex myself. I have not used Launcher Pro in months, and never on the tab so I can't speak to its stability or usefulness, but both ADW and Ex have been very good to me on the tab (I like the added features and snappiness of the paid version).
trying out Zeam right now, seems simple and clean. like the swipe to launch feature
For anybody looking for function rather than form, try *Spark. Its in the market

Hi,
I've been with WinMo since 2001 until about a week ago when I switched to andriod. I have many questions and was unsure where to turn to. I will try here. If there is a better place, please let me know.
I have a Desire Z that I got with ATT 3G bands. I have successfully rooted the device, overclocked it, and installed Cyanogen 6.
1) When I hit the power button, I still have to swipe my finger across the screen to unlock. How do I make it so I don't have to do this?
2) I had some difficulty upgrading to Cyanogen 6 and was unable to get 7 to work. IfI want to mess around further with roms, is there some way I can backup EVERYTHING so if I screw up, I can make my phone exactly the way I have it now without a whole lot of work re-installing stuff, etc.?
3) The link to the phone, app, and browser are all stuck on the bottom of the phone. Can I get rid of this?
4) When laying apps out on the home screen, there seems to be some kind of grid that they are locked into that makes it hard to move them exactly where I want them. It will let me lay them so they overlap each other, but not very close to each other. Is there some way to overcome this?
5) I can't seem to arrange apps close to the top of the screen because the garbage can overlay slides down and when I move the app near the top it thinks I am trying to throw it away.
6) Is there an app that will show both the current weather and an icon for the weather conditions in the status bar?
Wow, a lot of questions...
1, Go to Settings->CyanogenMod Settings->Input Settings and select Trackball wake/Trackball Unlock or Menu Unlock and after that you will be able to select Disable Unlock Slider
2, Try Titanium Backup (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup)
3, As far as I know CM6 uses ADW.Launcher as default launcher. You can change it to LauncherPro (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fede.launcher) which is fully customisable
4, There is a grid which can't be changed
5, LauncherPro has the trash icon at the bottom
6, Sorry, I didn't find any

Hello Everyone.
I went and found some of these answers on my own. I also was able to upgrade to CM7.
1) I found an app for it but will try PsHeger's solution.
2) I found that the bootloader/Rom manager do a good job of this, too.
3) I was able to remove it in the app launcher rather than using pro.
4) This absolutely pisses me off. I have a Winmo 6.5 phone that lets me have a nice, organized home screen. I can't believe there isn't a better solution to this. Good lord.
6) Go Weather App does this.
if you set your grid settings to 10x10 rows and columns in launcher pro, you can put the icons and widgets pretty much anywhere.

I found that the auto stretch check box pretty much solved the problem with layout.

Good stuff here. I remember seeing versions of Android with 7 screens...
you can install an 3rd party home screen app such as Launcher Pro. It allows you to fully customise your homescreens and add a lot of eye candy. Haven't tried it out on Honeycomb but I've used it on my Xperia X10.
I was more thinking about a native solution but i will try Launcher Pro.
Thanks
Circle Laucher
I use Circle Launcher Light. Its a widget that adds a circle icon on the home screen. You can configure it to display any number of app icons when pressed. You just select which app you want to launch. You can also display a name on the screen circles. I have one set up for each type of family of apps I use. Dor example "Games", "Media", "Readers", etc. I like it. Its free in market.
Tried to download ADW.Launcher from the market without success. Seems to be restricted to non honeycomb systems by google.
If someone can provide an alternate link for the free version, it would be more than appretiate.

+1 for circle launcher! A perfect for honeycomb and a 10 inch screen. My setup is similar and allows two click access to every app I use. The widget displays nearly instantly.

I use launcher pro and I love it. Have it for both my Evo and now the Acer.
Hi friends,
Anyone got a good launcher other than Go ,ADW, Launcher Pro, etc ....one good for the transformer and that does not have a dock on the left, or bottom.
The main thing I am trying to do is get rid of 5 scrollable screens, I just want 3. Any modification ideas??

You can remove the dock with ADW. But you have to add a shortcut to open the app drawer.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.vtlab.launcher&feature=search_result is a honeycomb optimized launcher I believe. check that out. ive never used it though

From the description:
"VTL.Launcher - Tablet Optimized - Scrolling Docks - Scrolling Widgets - And More
***NOT FOR HONEYCOMB YET***
Pretty sure it is only optimized for Gingerbread on larger screens. I tried this one about a month ago and was really disappointed.

Aww that sucks. I just remember reading a article about it but never really looked into it. Looking forward to it's release. bummer
You can get rid of screens using ADW just select edit and select the screens you do not need. You can also hide the dock but add a short cut for the app panel on the desktop.
Hi Everyone
Ok thanks for your advise, I have loaded ADW and successfully configured it nicely, however I removed my old system launcher, and put this ADW launcher in the system app section. Now everytime I boot, the thing reinstalls wiping my settings....
Does anyone have experience if you make ADW a ststem app, why does it reinstall each time you restart (wiping all user settings) and is there a way aroun d it? an odex file maybe?
why do you want it to run as a system app?
because its better than stock app...do remove stock app to replace with this makes life easy and bloat free...Also if someone with no understanding of programming deletes this app (wife or Kids or my parents) then I have to do a CWM recovery----I dont want to do that....
Set ADW as your default launcher and use an autorun manager to stop the stock launcher from running at boot-up. Problem solved.
