Thank you
You guys realize this is a pirated book, right? Not the right forum for that sort of stuff.
Buy it if you like it: http://www.diesel-ebooks.com/cgi-bi...599887/ANDROID-A-PROGRAMMERS-GUIDE-eBook.html

I Agree.
Why has this post not been removed yet? If someone mentions copying a paid market app they are banned. But this is allowed to stay? Probably because it is not hurting the developers pocket book, so I guess it is ok to pirate with exception of paid apps. Not right at all.

G1 Advice?

I'm no technical junkie, I managed to root my phone, but I still need some help, I'm looking for any programs that poeple out there use most often, possible firmware, and /Where to find it.
I'm also interested about a program that lets you download paid apps for free, i would very much like to find where to get it.
Thanks ahead of time,
Your freiendly Noob.
First off don't mention any type of warez on here or free paid apps, very possible that you will baned, a lot of dev of those programs are members here, second at the type of the apps and games sub-forum is a sticky for must have apps. That will give you agood starting point

equivalent to jailbreaking

i read a thread, which i cant seem to find any more, about 'rooting' your android so that you can download any app for free.
there was two ways i read that it can be done, 1)downloading this app in the market, then just clicking a button in the app which then 'jailbreaks' or 'roots' your android and 2) installing it via USB..
does anyone know what the app is called?
or if someone can recall where this thread is, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advanced!
Ummm no.
Getting things for free is not what we like to talk about round here (if you exclude ROMs etc ). It is sometimes known as warez... or even theft.
Rooting is nothing to do with this. Very simply, rooting it is the process by which you can gain administrative access to your phone and enable options and configurability that you otherwise couldn't get. It also allows you to install certain apps that do not work on non-rooted phones. Most of the Android ROMs in the HD2 section are already rooted.
Ummm okay. Don't know what the above reply was about. You're looking for this (or similar)...

I can never find it on the market, so I always get it from here.
Hope it helps

the reply that you mentioned is about the comment the OP made about thinking that you can get any app for free when rooting, nobnut was just mentioning not to ask about getting free paid apps.
^ ya I just read that thread about not asking for free apps, so this thread not need to be expounded
But thanx for the comments anyways. This forum is extremely useful, and i don't want to jeopardize my status on it!
Good thing you could realize it that fast. Most of us realize it before joining. Good job anyway!

Oops - my bad! I didn't notice he'd asked to download any app "for free".
Apologies to nobnut
No worries.

Virus riddled apps in market!

This is Android in general, but meh:

XDA: 12 HELPFUL PEOPLE AND 1584641849682579451694.5 complaining, ignoramous pansies.
This is old news sir, but thanks anyway
If you're really worried, you can install an app called "Lookout" that became popular after this scare came about..its scans apps after being install and provides real-time protection against rouge apps....or you can just beware of the apps you install
Oh. Well, I feel retarded. Thanks!

Didn't lookout originate from someone on xda? It works really well and quite quickly. It also has an option for backing up your data and a webapp so you can find it if your phone is lost or stolen

why do you think people don't use the search???????????
people are pretty smart but if you ask them to use something that sorta kinda works sometimes
well peoples behavior speaks for itself! and that is the answer to why people dont use it.

Why? In 30 seconds of searching, you could have found three threads related to what you want. Since you didn't, I went ahead and provided them here.

There are so many outdated posts, it's really difficult to know a good list from a bad one. One link you gave has a list from June with a handful of apps. Another link has a huge list that is for some kind of automated script that I don't understand. I'd just like a list of apps that can be frozen from Titanium Backup if I want to freeze them.

The list of apps in that script are safe to freeze and that is why they are included in the script. You don't have to use the script, just freeze the apps that have a strike through them on the list. I'm not sure how to make it easier for you, aside from creating a custom list for you and that doesn't really help anyone.

I didn't realize there were crossed-out apps in that list. Basically, I just think it would be great if there was a master list with everything that is safe to freeze. I'll use the apps on that script list with strike through for now.
