[Q] Return default Locksreen - HD Mini General

After uninstalling s2u2, native HD Mini locksreen does not appears after pressing the top button. It appears only when i press WM menu and than press lock.
Please help me to solve this problem (to return it as it was by default), without Hard reset.
Will be glad for any answer

Check if the value of:
HKCU\\ControlPanel\Keybd\DefaultKeyLock
is 1.

I have just checked it, but there is no such key after "Keybd".
Should i create it?

Check better. It must be there.

But i have found this key near
HKCU\\ControlPanel\Keybd\DevicelockWhenSuspend
And changing it from 0 to 1 solves the problem.
Thank you very much, fighter7139!

And how can i change the startup image? Or back to the original?

The start up picture is file "welcomehead.192.png" in the Windows folder.

How can i enable it again? Because my bootscreen its all white....

The old one is lost. Take a picture, convert it to .png, rename it to welcomehead.192 and copy-paste it in Windows folder.

There is any Htc bootscreens? I`m new with Wm phones.

Use a picture of your own.

where is that windows paste to change the .png file?

Use File Explorer to rename the .png file to "welcomehead.192" and then use copy-paste in the "Windows" folder.

Don`t work...

You have made something wrong.

Problem solved! Now i have a problem with the Htc splash image... The first Htc white image is missing "Quietly brilliant", then i have another Htc "customized" gif that its ok, and next my screen its all white... What is wrong?

How to change boot (splash) image?

Any ideas how to change the boot image on the prophet?
changing boot image
Got this info from PPCSG - so all credit goes to them (especially farbird). This changes the 2nd splash screen (the one with the windows logo on the blue background). The HTC/Dopod splash screen which appears after every reset is still there.
1) copy the welcome96.png file to your desktop from ppc. edit it... do not change the dimensions.
2) save that edited file as 'welcomehead.961.png' and copy it into your ppc /windows folder.
3) open total commander in ppc. go to windows folder, tap on hold on the original welcomehead.96.png, click properties, uncheck all the boxes under attributes. select ok.
4) total commander will refresh the directory, rename it now to 'welcomehead.962.png'. After that look for your edited file copied from the pc ie welcomehead.961.png.. rename it to welcomehead.96.png. after that, tap and hold and click on properties. check the box that says " read only, hidden, system "
once that is done, do a soft reboot. u should be able to see your new bootup screen after the rom version is up.
There is another way using activesync, but it didn't work for me as it gives me a write-protect error.
Do a search here @ xda-dev, u shld get the same info...
Hi,
this does not work on GER Vodafone ROM 2.15.3.26 cause welcome.96.png is in the rom part and not deletable.

Yes, that file is a ROM file and cannot be deleted. BUT if you use TotalCommander, you can rename that file to something else, rename your new splash image file to welcome.96.png, copy it to your windows folder and set its attributes to read only, system, & hidden. AND the changes will be permanent. Try it.
The reason it being a ROM file is why I was unable to copy & paste using the activesync method. But the way I did it works. Make sure you use Total Commander & not resco explorer or the built-in file explorer

Hi Pruta,
O.K., now I was able to rename welcome.96.png and replaced it with my PNG.
Softreset... Sh*t, the 'old' welcome.96.png was shown. O.K., my device wants war...it gets war .
I was able to DELETE the old (original) welcome.96.png.
Softreset... Aaaaahhhhh nothing changed!
O.K. continued search. I found a file named welcomehead.96.png, that is the same image than the original welcome.96.png.
The only prob is, I'm NOT able to rename or delete/replace it.
Are there anybody that also use the Vodafone rom and can test to change the boot image???
Attached file is welcomehead.96.png
If you can change the attributes to exclude System, and Read-Only, it should be able to change/remove it.
Hi krale,
nope. It's not possible to change the attributes. See attached MPG.
I was able to do it with total commander...
here is the link
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=71471&st=40#
thanks for the credit, Putra.
Appreciated.
Do not delete, but overwrite
@farbird: Sure, bro - after all it was your post @ PPCSG that helped me change the splash screen.
Important: do no delete the welcomehead file as it is ROM file, and it will automatically be created again. The trick is to overwrite the file with another file but with EXACTLY the same name and attributes (except ROM). So Windows will not try to create the file again.
After you change the attributes of the original welcomehead file, NO NEED to check if it has changed - Total Commander will show it as NOT changed (meaning all the check marks are still present).
Just go ahead and rename that file, then rename your splash image file to welcomehead.96.png, and set the attributes, and it should work.
I used this trick to "delete" a useless movie file: 1-nature_15fps.mp4 (274K, I think). I created an empty txt file called 1-nature_15fps.txt (0B), copied into the windows folder, performed the trick, and now I have a 1-nature_15fps.mp4 file which is 0 bytes! Just a little experiment, which may come in handy if you really need the space.
Hope the above explains things a little.

Cannot change themes anymore

I am not sure when it happened but i have lost the ability to change themes. I have it set to the Windows Default theme and can't change it to anything else. When i go to settings, then Today, I get a list o fthemes. But if i select any of them and hit ok, nothing changed, even after soft reset. Th eonly thing that changed is when i highlight an object, the highlight is a different color.
I am sure a hard reset will fix this, but I don't want to do that yet.
What exactly happens when you select a theme? Does it extract some files from the .tsk file? If so, what are they and where does it go?
Perhaps, those files are write protected andcan't be copied over in my case.

WOW, this is happening to me right now and it's driving me nuts! it seems to have happened after i tried a blackish greyish theme called vista something. Have you found a fix for it?! or does anyone know how to fix this? all i can use is the windows default aqua theme
This is happening to me right now also. Has anyone come up with a fix for this yet?
im still looking for a solution. if i find it, ill post it here. if you find it, please share!
This is happening to me too. I decided to change themes the other day and nothing happend after selecting and hitting 'ok'. Even the themes that came with my Mogul dont work.
I have tried removing themes and soft-restarting and no luck.
Does anyone know what files are modified when you select a theme? my guess is that something is getting corrupted.
Using a registry editor, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\
Do you see a key named after the theme you installed?
If so, change the value of Role from 64d to 24d and then remove your theme as you usually do.
Here is an expert's explanation:

Nevertheless, there is a light problem with TSKs created with XML :
I have found a drawback writing TSK with _setup.xml :
New keys in registry :
HKLM\Software\Apps\name of TSK
HKLM\Seurity\AppInstall\name of TSK
And it creates a folder in Windows\AppMgr\name of TSK with a tmp file inside. You can't delete these folders as they are System.
Tsk installed with XML have registry key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\TSK_Name\Role = 64d
So, When this key is set to 64d, application are masked to the uninstaller.
If you put the value 24d, as other applications, you can uninstall TSK with classical uninstaller.
It deletes the registry keys of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\TSK_Nameand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\TSK_Name
and it deletes folders concerned.
So :
actually, when a TSK is loaded with xml, it creates keys in HKLM\Security\AppInstall\TSK_Name\Role = 64
and folder in Windows\AppMgr\TSK_Name
But you cannot uninstall the TSK by normal procedure because the uninstall is hidden by the value 64 of Role.
If you set this value to 24, it is possible.

borealcool,
So if I understand you, you are saying that when I change to another theme, the system is trying to 'uninstall' the current theme? So if I change the value in the registry it will be able to change or 'uninstall' it?
I was thinking that it could have something to do with a locked file of some sort becuase I have also been stricken with the 'access denied' phantom. I can't delete files from file explorer no matter what they are or where they are stored. (and no other programs are running)
I guess I'm going to have to become familiar with the registry...ugh. Do you have a recommendation for an editor?
TSK and _setup.xml
I think you are right borealcool !
It seems that I have played with fire by permitting to create TSK with information file "_setup.xml" :
if there is not a conventional inf file (with extension ".000") themes does not work with OS < WM5.
there is a drawback with theme and _setup.xml (which I explained here in september 2006 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1016599#post1016599 and in a RTF file (TSK and XML (EN).rtf) which is in the zip file of ThemeGenCE.
I have found the same problem in this forum : http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1291292
Please read the TSK and XML (EN).rtf where I explain how to solve the problem and give a solution with ThemeGenCE and PocketPC connected with ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.
I can give you an advice if you do not want to have problem with themes :
Create themes with ThemeGenCE with setting for create the themes in the Options Tab for TSK with "+ Inf" only selected.
If you load a theme from Internet and you are not sure how it was built, take it into ThemeGenCE, check the "+Inf" option only and save the theme with your modifications.
Same problem here.
I have the same problem it will only load the one default .tsk file no matter what tsk file i select. if i go to reg and check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\
I don't see any entries for the tsk.
I also checked HKEY _CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\TODAY
It shows the tsk file i have selected but theme still remains the green generic one. Ican select a picture as background but I have some cool themes too. Any other ideas to fix this?
I'm using aT-mobile Wing WM6
Thanks all Randy
can those who are having the theme problem still successfully connect via activesync?
qu1nn
activesync
Activesync works but I just reformatted my computer and loaded activesync a couple of days ago.
I know this question is prolly silly but do I install themegence on my computer or on my WM6 phone? Also which version should I use for creating themes on my mogul? Thanks
It seem happends when I changing theme with task tray hidded.
I used to hide task tray with dciNoBar.exe.
And then, the CAB files can't be installed too.
WM6 seem can't creat TSK entry in today category.
So, I have'nt found solution, just hard reboot and reinstall all.
I was having the same problem until I noticed HTC X-Button 1.5 was the culprit. I changed the Button settings to "End programs by tapping and holding "X". This solved the problem until I was able to get the theme changed then I changed it back to "End programs by tapping "X".

[HOW-TO]Change the system font in Windows Mobile 5.0/6/6.1

Hey all, seeing as I couldnt find this topic here already, I thought that I would share with you all how to change the system font on our beloved Wizard. It is quite simple really but it does require a few things:
1-A Wizard/MDA/O2 XDA Mini S/Cingular 8125
2-A Truetype style font(they end with file extension .ttf)
3-5 minutes of time
Alright now here is how to do it!
1)-Connect your device to your computer, and let Activesync do it's thing(until the green double-arrow icon in your tray stops spinning).
2)-Click on [Explore], then on "Windows Mobile Based Device", then on "Windows". If you cannot see the "Windows" folder, goto the top of the window and click [Tools] then [Folder Options] then the [View] tab, then scroll down a bit until you find a checkbox that says-"Show Hidden Files and Folders" and make sure that it is checked(or dotted if the case may be).
3)-Now, leave that window open, and go and grab you font. Right click on the font file itself and scroll down to [Rename]. In the field, type "Tahoma" then [OK]. Now, copy that file that you just renamed, and paste it to another directory(such as the desktop so that it is easy to get back to), and rename it to-"TahomaBD" and click [OK].
4)-Now click and drag, or copy and paste those 2 files into the "Windows" folder that you have open from earlier, tell it [Yes] to overwrite the existing files if needed.
5)-Now, soft-reset your device and voila! You have a nice shiny new system font! Wonderful! Now, you may be wondering how to get your old one back, and it is indeed very simple.
6)-To restore the Tahoma font, either download a copy of it from the internet(note that it is NOTE public domain, and it is against the rules to post it here at XDA-Devs), or navigate to your computers "Font" folder and simply copy it to your desktop, and rename and copy it as above, soft-reset again and BAM, back to OEM status you go! You can also just Hard-reset if you get desperate.
Well, thats it! Quite simple eh? Took me about 30 minutes or so to figure it out, but here are some screens to prove that it works!
ROM=TNT 6.1 build 20273
I am currently using a font based of the one used in the Star Trek:The Next Generation TV series, but any Truetype font should work!
I hope someone finds this useful!-ashasaur
Thnaks you
Re:
I Can't copy Tahoma & TahomaBD into my device cause i can't delete the old ones cause they are read-only or something like that can u help me?

Want to delete a particular file from windows folder

Hey all.
I am owning a HTC Diamond. Indian Version.
when i boot my phone there is an image turning up.
i figured out to be an image called airtel_480X640.gif.
which is in my main windows folder.
i want to either delete the file or replace the pic with an vodafone image.
can anyone guide me on how to delete/replace a file which is protected in the windows folder
What about Total Commander??
But about splash screen there should be an option to change it in registry or if it is a "boot screen" then flash another one
The problem is how could you delete a file from windows folder in STOCK Rom.
I am trying to change the welcomeahead.192.png without any success.
Use Advanced Config.
Under HTC Animation settings, select the first option: Startup GIF file.
Change the path under this setting to the path of the image you want as the startup image, but remember, it should be a gif image.
Keep the image in the phone memory preferably, so that it can load without any delay at the time of the startup.
After pressing 'Done', soft-reset the device.

Use File explorer extension, total ommander or resco explorer
1- rename the original file to BAK or whatever you remember
2-copy the new file into \windows\
There are 3 bootsreens
SEMC***.GIF isthe startup animation
welcomehead.192.png is the green Windows screen
As an explmple, I copied I my own welcomehead.192.NEW.png to \windows\ renamed the original file to welcomehead.192.BAK.png and then renamed welcomehead.192.NEW.png to welcomehead.192.png
Reset and changes wll apply
Thanx for your answer. i got the SEMC2904.bmp changed with the one i drawed. i hang it on my post if somebody wants it too.
*EDIT* okay i overwrote the old image but my new one does not appear ?!

A thumbnail would be fine
You can upload a thumb to tinypic.com or else
Thanks for sharing
Here's the Thumbnail.
But do you have a tip for me? i copied the screen to my windows folder. i'm getting asked if i want to overwrite it. i agree, but if i reboot my x1 i don't see my new screen
Check
It appears that (like desktop Windows) the Xperia performs a check on boot of the file details. If the file is deemed "corrupted" it is replaced by the original from an unknown location.
Since you file quite likely does not match a hash check, or possibly is saved in the wrong format, it gets replaced.
I had this problem and as of yet have been unable to make an image that the device will accept.
yeah must be some kind like this but i want to have my own startupscreen!!
