Hello all,
I SHould admit that ZSJP3 froyo is better than XXJPC,
I first moved from JM1 Eclair (Official kies) to XXJPC but fiund that my product code was changed which was so annoying... later from some threads i found out how to get back my Product code.
Once my product code was back, i tried to move back to JM1, strange NOW my phone was acting crazy, now network at all, it was on flight mode all the time...after 16 hours of struggle and no result, i had to move to XXJPC back, to see, if my phone can see network again... Guess "Phone was able to see network"...
Moved back to JM1, JM2, JM5, JM7 back, nothing happed...
Later, i was totally frustated, and moved my phone to ZSJP3, my phone is BACK online...
Can any one tell me why this is happening? ZSJP3 use 512 pit, now can i move back to JM1 ?
I need the samsung app's on my phone, i love the facebook S!
I am still on ZSJP3, which is FAR better and TUNED than JPC...
Regards,
Shrik

I have just upgraded via the reg patch from JPU. No issues other than the lock screen stops working after about half an hour. So when I press the button to switch the phone back on it goes bacl to the last screen with no lock screen
I have cleared cache in download mode and turned the phone on and off but again after half an hour I get the same issue the lock screen stops working
I have tried both with the normal slide and the pattern
Any ideas
Probably needs a factory reset - that sorts most errors like this kind.
I updated today via kies (reghack, XXJPU) and I don't have any problems... so maybe an application that make a problem?
The first time I flashed I changed the product code back from KOR to XEU. I think Kies caused this for some reason. Second time I flashed with odin (much more reliable!) and it's fine. However, the first time I experienced horrible battery drain. As for now, I'm keeping an eye on it.
I'm also missing the Pure Calendar Widget from the market unless it's been pulled. Tried all sorts to find that again but it's not there.
Overall, JPX is the slickest and best running firmware I've used on my SGS so far.
My only complaint is that my SGS really struggles with battery drain on XXJPX stock. JPU was very good (but was buggy).. Prefer JPX but without the battery drain.
I've cleared the battery stats etc, as well..
I had some problems with frozen accelerometer but after a Factory reset it worked again.
I flashed to JPX (from JPU) and I have this weird bug where my phone still thinks it's connected to the USB. has anybody else experienced this?
Also, my quadrant score isn't nearly as high as it used to be when I had JPU.
Sooooo, good morning....
Now I see that there is again a new firmware out... JPY... maybe they found a problem whit the battary drain....
greetings from croatia
I have FC with Google Goggles and Barcode Scanner
So... Do you recommend upgrading on kies to 2.2.1

Hi Guys,
I've upgraded yesterday from XPU to XPX - all done with Odin - Kies doesn't recognize my phone despite of any recommended procedures. Stuff it don't need ballast.
I've have had some troubles with XPU: changing my country code from DV2 (Vodafone D2, Germany) to KOR - I had have to edit /efs/ndata.bin, battery drops to 98% just after removing phone from charger, instability with some apps ...
But now after some reboots without factory reset my phone and I are happy. Best firmware ever seen.
Cheers - and Seasons Greetings from merry old Germany ;-)
Chris
Yes definately although there is a new firmware out!!!

On the stock kernel?
Should I bite the bullet and try an upgrade? I'm still marinating on 2.1.
if you feel safe, and don't mind taking the phone back to the store for repair at any random day
then go ahead by all means.
PROS: you'll find out sooner, and get your phone warrantied before it expires, or your device might work perfectly and never dies.
CONS: you'll most likely be stuck without a phone for a few weeks
I've had JL2 for a couple of weeks and it's working well. I did have Darky's ROM on it for a couple of days but it was acting up so I put JL2 back on.
No lag, Great GPS, no issues at all.
Ian
I love JL2... But I have not had a single issue since the phone came out. I was the first person to buy the phone at the north Bell store in the Eaton Centre the day it came out on Aug 6th.
I flashed jk4 on dec 8th or so and had no issues and then moved to JL2 a few days ago. On 2.1 I always got a quick lock with GPS but did suffer from minor drifting. That drifting is now gone on 2.2 (both jk4 & jl2)

And after reading the sd issue thread I would reccomend upgrading even more. If it bricks with sd failure it really sounds like Bell had stepped up with getting new phones and a credit out to people.

been on jl2 since dec 24th, everything works fine for the most part. One issue though - i can't close the contacts, i have to press the home button and then when i check the task manager, it's still running in the background. This get's pretty annoying. Anyone else experiencing this?
EDIT:: also do you guys see 304 MB of ram that's accessible (through task manager->ram manager)? That's what i see (wasn't 2.1 also like this?)

Do it now so that if you have any problems, it'll happen sooner than later, and you'll still be covered by your warranty, which you are almost 5 months through.
If I were you, I'd install it as soon as possible. Worst case scenario is they ship you a new phone within 7 days if your phone breaks. My phone had a failed internal sd when I did a factory reset before I went to try the jl2 upgrade since I was told by bell it would fix the problem, but unforunately my phone broke before I even got the chance to do it so bell did a work order and sent me a new phone which I should receive within 7 days, all I have to do is ship them back my broken phone when I receive the new one.

My buddy's phone died after going to JL2. The good thing was that Bell is giving him a new phone within the next 5 business days AND he got $100 credit for all the trouble.
I flashed the jl2 modem today on a jpu based rom. A couple hours later and I'm now stuck in a boot loop. coincidence? Who knows.
I've been on JL2 since it came out on Kies. The day before while I was on JK4 my phone was starting to get some FCs and at one point I got the "Internal SD Unexpectedly Removed" error so I'm pretty sure my internal SD was on the brink of failing. I'm glad a new firmware came out. I immediately upgraded and did a factory reset and formatted the internal SD. It's been smooth sailing ever since and I do take a lot of pictures, video, etc. on my phone with no issues since JL2.
I love JL2 so far. It's fast (just as fast as JK4 was) and after some tweaking via instructions I found here GPS is good. I have had ONE force close since upgrading and I think that was just the Winamp app being stupid.
I haven't really seen anyone posting here about actually being bricked after JL2. Has anyone actually upgraded to JL2 and got the internal SD error?
Thanks for the input everyone. I'm a little more confident now with upgrading. And it of course makes sense to do it now to find out problems whilst there is still warranty.
I'll give it a wack tonight. Btw, with an upgrade, do things like music and contacts get wiped out? Its my first android upgrade and I plan on using kies. Any caveats with kies?

You should be ok with a straight upgrade, but I'll always recommend doing a factory reset - it clears out the crap that could cause problems.
As for your music and stuff, that depends where you store it. If you have it on your internal sd, and you do a factory reset, then yes. If its on your external sd, then no. Contacts are fine if you store them on your SIM or sync with Google.

Is it really safe to combine different files from different ROMs? I would think mixing and matching can cause some problems.
Ian
I do have one complaint after going to JL2 -
In my Picasa albums in Gallery, the photos are no longer sorted by date as they were in 2.1. Also, sometimes the Gallery fails to load/display the full resolution image instead just displaying the pixelated preview while flipping through images.
Never had this problem in 2.1 (JH2) - I wonder if it's possible to revert the Gallery app to the previous version?
I got my phone in september and never had any trouble with it. I have rooted it, applied different lag fix and enen managed to stupidly brick it but it always survived.
I like JL2, but I had no problem with JK4 either. However, I don't find TouchWiz as smooth as it was with JH2. It lags a little when switching across apps or homescreens, so I use LauncherPro which is perfect.
BUT, my GPS doesn't work at all
It worked ok before installing JL2, but now its totally useless. I can see satellites but can't get a fix....any advice?
Smooth ride so far. Went from stock 2.1 (end-of-August purchase) to JL2. I did not do the JK4.
So far ok.............. I seem to get FC on the Samsung hub everytime I pull the battery out and I have to re-install the app. GPS locks but it takes awhile.
Just do it! My phone was bricked on Dec 25 for no reason. I updated to froyo 2.2 via Kies about a month ago. I called Bell and told them my issue, internal fried sd card! They gave me Bell's Data Support line. I'm getting a brand new Samsung Galaxy with the latest Dec 24. froyo 2.2.1 update installed. I'll be without a phone for about a week or so but there customer service is awsome. I also go a $100 credit to my account for the inconvience.
If you update and phone is bricked call this number 1.877.328.2123 and they will send you a new phone in 3-5 days.
Hello guys, I am having some problems with the official Update froyo for samsung vibrant. I can't answer any call and the status bar doesn't work. Anyone else is having the same problem. I am going to downgrade my phone with odin to android 2.1 and then instal the rom axura or Nero.
dont have this problem
Mine has been stock ROM since I bought it last fall, upgraded to the official 2.2 KA6 and experienced huge lag issues, status bar would sometimes take up to 5 seconds to open after a swipe, apps would lag, etc. GPS was never fixed for me. No problems with calls though. I went back to JFD and then flashed Axura. No lag, GPS works (<10s lock, excellent accuracy), etc. Just do it, I should have done it long ago.
Upgrade
I am having a problem as well, have search not just this one but many. I can hookup mini kies and it starts the download gets about 1/3 of the way through and stops, says " cannot upgrade, try to pull the battery and reinstall and try again" have tried that four times? Suggestions anyone, I have not even heard anyone have this problem, have tried T-mobile, XDA, Android Community forums and nothing.
Anyone?
Have you tried resetting the phone?
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy Tab
No have been trying to avoid that, I will try it though. Did not want to redo everything I have on the phone. Oh well, I will give it a try.
Thanks,
try to do this.
First check if you have checked on usb debugging. Samsung mini kies has to detect you phone now. Upgrade your phone
No I didnt, I will try that first. I have to charge the phone now, I did not realize that was not checked.
I hate to post a thread like this, but after searching and basically pulling my hair out, I've decided it was time.
Anyway, as title suggests I have an I9000m with the 2.2 UGJL2 *Typo in title, sorry!!*
Heres the problem with the phone...
Its a bell phone, unrooted or modified. Its running 2.2 JL2. When used with an bell SIM it will dial out and receive, receive texts, send them. However it won't receive picture messages, well it receives but just says downloading (and the plan does have it)
It also won't connect to the mobile network. If I manually set APN it does, but then its ability to call out is brutal for some reason. Also I threw my virgin mobile sim in it, set apn and it would go onto the internet no problem, but calling and text suffered big time.
It also seems to lag huge all the time, it'll freeze, you hit the center button and it just takes screen shots.
Its a refurb phone if that helps. Its actually my gfs phone, I picked her up a HTC incredible S... she says if we can fix the old one she kinda wants the samsung back.
Any help would be appreciated.
Mike
Have you tried a factory reset to see if that fixes the problems? That would be the best starting point.

Been done twice. Also have had two new sim cards installed aswell. I figured before I tried rooting it would be best to consult you guys. Is it possible that there's a hardware issue?
Thanks
Mike
Based on your description it doesn't sound like a hardware issue, but no way to know for sure.
I think your next best bet would be to try reflashing JL2 (or KC1 even) using Odin; as long as you can get to download mode via the 3 button combo. If you're still having problems after that then probably it is hardware.

Got er fixed. After I put the phone down and enjoyed a beer for a bit, I went back and basically wiped the phone clean, I think I did it 3 times in a row, using both the 3 button download mode one, and two different ones than can be accessed via the dialer. After doing that I retryed the APN settings again and ALAS it finally worked correctly. Its now connecting to the HSDPA and is also downloading MMS messages like it should. Its also yet to lag again. I'm assuming it was an app that was causing that aswell.
Regardless, the misses is happy, I might keep the Incredible S (currently have the HTC legend, lovely phone, but it does feel under powered compared to the I9000 and the Incredible S)
Sometimes I think a guy has gotta step back and relax for a minute lol!!
Thanks again
A little help please from a rom specialist!
Using a cfautorooted note 3 for a couple of years with no problem. Suddenly the wi-fi will not switch on, the icon showing light green for 1/2 second then grey - using the slider if it is held to the right, there is a light green light, but releasing the slider it returns to off. Nothing was updated/changed. The bluetooth works fine so do not suspect chip yet. Booted to safe mode - no different. Investigated files etc. and noticed that wma_supplicant.conf had been reset to zero bytes at the time this happened, so restored from a back up (Keep copies as has "lost" all wifi passwords in the past" - powered up again and worked!
Today it has returned to this fault.......but the wma_supplicant.conf is the same.....but noticed this time that pgp_supplicant.conf had be modified at around the time of the fault, but I do not have a backup.
Can anyone explain/help with exactly what these files do and which files are essential to connecting android to the hardware.
I have spent a lot of time looking into this, but do not want to factory reset just yet - will take days to re set up as I wish - and only guess it will resolve problems. Also as engineer I prefer to "find the fault and repair" rather than just "fix" without knowing how!
ANY clues would be gratefully accepted.
I also have a note 3 (same model) on android 5 but not sure if the /system/etc/wifi files should be the same. Otherwise any clues where I can get the original UK 4.4.2 rom?
Many thanks
John

ps
I realise that wpa_supplicant.conf is technically just the passwords, so why this worked 1st time I do not know - maybe a coincidence.
an entry says ctrl_interface=/data/misc/wifi/sockets
but that directory is empty in case that helps!
where I can get the original UK 4.4.2 rom?
Firmwares sammobile or samsung-updates and other sources including this forum .
Thansk, but tried Sams and uk version not there. Couldn't find anywhere else so would be nice to extract from existing 'phones rom as correct version. Still looking for how to!
Also would like to understand the wifi set up and repair this issue, rather than use blunt force and just do a factory reset (plus will take a day to rebuild as I want!)
John, UK
Does it have to be "UK version"? It is necessary?
I am from the Czech Republic. (Central Europe ) I have "N9005XXUGNG1_N9005ETLGNG1_N9005XXUGNG1_HOME.tar.md5". It's Android 4.4.2. I can upload to any repository. You want? Not a problem...

Hi
What a coincidence - I returned from Czech Republic last night at 23:00 !!!!
I live half the year in Velehrad, Okres Zlin!
I will get back to you tomorrow.....I am trying to locate another master circuit board for this device, but first I must try a factory reset and cache clear - been putting it off as will take 7-8 hours to set up again and remove all the rubbish apps!
John
Nice.
You can try my link. (Rom 4.4.2)
