Big Problem for me! - Hero CDMA General

Hey all, I need help.....bought a HTC hero off craigslist, should've known better. The esn went fine but the msl code never worked...I researched and found out that the phone's msl was changed to "0's"...so I'm guessing it was unlocked for another carrier possibly Cricket. Well, I need it to be on Sprint...phone and text works fine, but no data. Do I need to flash it back to Sprint or is there settings that I need for my data to be restored? Please help!
If anything, how do I restore the OEM msl code in case I need to bring it back for tech support? I'm sure they frown big time if they see it's unlocked!

Try calling sprint tech support about, you'll probably just need to run the ruu program from the sprint website.

Yes, I suggest trying the Sprint RUU found here, but I would try it BEFORE calling tech support if you're worried about them finding out if its been unlocked/rooted

Weirdest thing on earth...

Ok I exagerated a bit in the title, but...
I bought this HTC 6800 Bell, from a nice guy, unlocked, upgraded, GPS activated, WM6.1. Bell entered my ESN in their system, gave me my MSL unlock code and when I dial ##(MSL)# and hit the talk button, the phone does not get into programming mode at all. I even tried a few HTC ##codes# and none of them succeed to get into programming mode.
Instead, the phone calls the ##code# and somehow gets redirected to a Bell Mobility recorded message telling me to call the activation hotline. Which I finally did. The person could not do anything, so he sent me to a Bell Mobility store, where another very skilled person was unable to do the programming.
What is supposed to happen when you enter your MSL unlock code? Anyone can help me?
I flashed successfuly a few DCD ROMS (3.3.4, 4.1.2), they all worked fine but I still can't activate the phone with my MSL
Thanks
If you're using DCD's ROMs, make sure you have installed the Bell carrier cab from DCD.
http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?dir=carriers%2F&download=dcd+Bell+Carrier+20081031.cab
then try ##778# or ##778[dial]
after that it'll ask your for your MSL... should be just 000000
Thanks. That was the problem. The phone works well now. Thanks again.

T-Mobile

Is there anybody that would be able to call T-Mobile to get me the Unlock Code for my Samsung Vibrant, if I give them my IMEI.
I had my phone unlocked and for some reason it randomly locked up again.
I would call T-mobile myself, but I am not with them and I live in Canada.
If anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
T-Mobile gives former eligible customers free unlock codes.

Unfotunately I don't think it will work. The phone has to have been registered on the users account, meaning the user must have put their sim in the phone before, or there has to be proof that exact phone with the IMEI was purchased from T-Mobile by the account holder.
But luckily for you, if you were a T-mobile customer in the past, and you did in fact use that Vibrant on their network, they will provide you the unlock code again.
For your reference
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm51885.xml
"T-Mobile will provide the SIM Unlock Code upon request to eligible former customers, provided that T-Mobile has such code or can obtain it from the manufacturer. "
Who knows though, might work, if you are willing to find someone to try it for you.
Yeah i am pretty sure the person who had the phone before wad with t mobile, so it should be fine. I just need someone who is with t mobile to call in for me since i am not with tmobile.
There was an app in the app store that'll give you the unlock code. That's how I unlocked mine. Check the market as it was a free app.

You don't need to even bother with that. Use this thread to fix the unlock. This will make it more permanent. Hopefully. It worked for me on two different devices. Cheers!
Thanks for the responses..
Yeah I unlocked my phone myself a month ago and for some reason It became locked again randomly. Dont know why... I just dont want to go through all that work again, and have it happen again... If I get the Sim Unlock code then it wont be a problem, and I can just put in the # again. When I originally tried to get the number through the SGS Unlocker it just gave me 8 zeros, so that method dident work.
The computer that I am using does not have all the drivers and crap and it is not my computer so I do not want to load everything on it.
If anyone with T-Mobile dosent mind calling for me that would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is you can't use the sim unlock code once you have gone through this process that they would send you. If you went through that process, then the code is whatever you set. If you don't remember what that number is, then you will have to do it all over again.
It is not that i do.not remember. I put in eight zeros in. But some everything was reset and it is locked again. I tried the eight zeros and it sosent work. I think i used a different nethod. I did not use the batch files. I used adb and edited the nv data. I am pretty sure if i were to get the sim unlock from t.mobile it will work. I dident choose 0000000 as a sim code it just told me to enter that in the instructions.

The problem is that number replaced the old msl. So you have no choice.
What do you mean Msl?
Msl = master subsidy lock aka unlock code

[Q] Tmobile G2 with Google - Unable to connect to network

I have bought a new Tmobile G2 with Google from ebay and got it unlocked . However, this phone does is not able to connect to any Service in India..including Vodafone Mumbai, which is on 900 mhz. Here are the HTC Phone details: Model: Tmobile G2 with Google; Network and Country : TMobile USA; When I click on Search for Networks, I get an error message: "Error while searching for networks". When I click on Select automatically, it gives error "Unable to connect to this network at this time. Please try again later".
According to HTC support, this phone should work in India also as it is Quad band. Contacted T-Mobile support too but they were not of much help and asked me to get it to theie service centre.
Would appreciate any help to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance.
Not an expert but what if you put a apn setup for the data on it and try search again?

Did you unlock using Gfree (root)?
There was an issue with when you unlocked your G2 using an unlock code you got no service, just go root it and it will also unlock your phone (network) and your issue will be resolved.
I was in the same boat as you except when the was no fix for a couple of weeks! Hope this helps.
Oh yea that could be it I rooted that way and have my phone unlocked but I have T-Mobile in the USA i did it that way to kill to birds with one stone lol. try that and do what the other poster did and let up know if that works for you ill look around to see if there was anyone sled with this problem.

Yeah, it's a known issue that unlock codes are hit-or-miss with this phone. When they work, it's as easy as any other phone. When they don't work, the phone stops connecting to any network (including the original one it was on). Most of the unlock companies didn't acknowledge this when the phone first came out either (not sure if that has changed now). I had one dealer adamantly tell me his codes were all working until I had him actually try it himself and it messed up his phone...
As stated earlier though, using gfree to get subsidy unlock will fix the issue. Just follow the guide in the Wiki.
I got the unlock code from T-Mobile and did not get any error message while unlocking the phone.

Hi
none off us got an error when unlocking using a T-Mobile ore second source unlock code.
The phones says successfule, reboots but some of us ended up with a corrupted sim-lock data in the partition 7.
That was the reason why we went for radio S-OFF - to be able to remove the corrupted sim-lock data.
The result of this work is gfree. See the XDA-wiki for the G2/DZ/vision on how to use gfree. This will repair your phone.
Have fun - Guhl

[Q] Sprint MOGUL HELP! This sucks

So the flash went perfect thanks to ryan mogul and his threads. So i go to have the phone added to my cricket account and they tell me i cant add this phone becuase its not in the market. Then verizon tells me i cant activate on there becuase its not a vzw inventory. I cant take this phone to sprint due to someones lack of brains to take the phone off there acct. Any ideas on what to do. I have read many articles on fixing my problem but nothing works
I also am trying to access the nvm folder and its locked. I cant edit nothing from the folder anyone know any ways around this.

Unlocking Sprint S7 for non-Sprint customer - 3rd party only option?

Hi guys. Long time reader, been fortunate, but finally have to post a question.
Thanks up front, this forum is very awesome.
We are Verizon customers. I recently bought an SM-930P from a local guy. He's had his phone stolen, he got another, then it was recovered so he sold the replacement to me.
He called and made sure all was good and deactivated it before the sale.
Well from what I can tell, Sprint didn't push the unlock to the phone before he took it offline. From what I've gathered, the 930P is unusual in that it can't be manually unlocked via a code. Correct?
I called Sprint - (aside - boy it is very hard to get to a human being to talk to you if you aren't a customer) - the rep said, oh yes, the EMEI is OK, phone was paid off, we'll unlock it for you.
Yet it does not work.
Symptoms: My Verizon SIM won't work (just says invalid SIM), and when I tried a friend's SIM from their Spring S7 it also didn't work, said it was invalid.
Today I called Sprint back again, and this time the rep - this time it was somebody from the S7 tech group - said that the phone was still associated w/ the other guy's account. Since I didn't have authorization on the account she wouldn't do anything else. So now I have heard 2 different stories from Sprint.
Well, that guy is in the Army and can't be reached now to call himself.
So, I need to have it unlocked, but I'm stuck. I don't care about Sprint b/c I want to use it on Verizon.
Am I correct that the only option is to do a USB direct-connect unlock, like some people are offering as services (through eBay etc)? My understanding is that they manually update the phone so it thinks it's getting the unlock from the carrier?
And although I don't intend to use Sprint - what happens if, later, I or somebody else wants to put it back on Sprint if it has been unlocked this way? Will there be a whitelist issue with their records?
Thanks

I used the Android Doctor, a quick Google search will find it. Super easy, remote unlock...they will stay in contact with you and make sure your phone works before they charge you. Reasonable price. I've done my s7 and s7 edge. Both work flawlessly. I'm on Straight Talk/AT&T.
Just as an update - yes, after more reading what I learned was that the USB-key approach is the only solution to this.
I went through GSM-Zambia.com - pretty much the same as Android Doctor but slightly cheaper.
That did the trick.
Also FYI - once it was unlocked, I flashed the based G930u version firmware - the one intended for unlocked, non-carrier specific phones - instead of the G930p as intended for Sprint. No problems w/ it whatsoever, seems to have all the radio bands active AND no bloatware.
Only hitch was that I still had to call Verizon and work w/ a tech to activate it on their network b/c if you give the IMEI online to do it manually yourself it just complains that they don't recognize it as compatible.
