ok, so it all started when i tried to update gala x. the update seemed to go ok, but then i kept getting stuck on the m screen. i was able to boot into koush's recovery (not sure how i did it), and i tried to do a restore. however the restore i did was from an incredible, and now it seems i can't get back into koush's recovery (i can get in normal recovery). i may just be doing it wrong though. and if i try to apply update.zip from normal recovery i get failed to verify whole-file signature, signature verification failed.
any help is greatly appreciated

Hey everyone,
I just loaded the latest tranquility and im loving it. i have a question though. ive been trying to load some custom tweaks, themes (specifically Gala X Theme 1.6.1) from clockworkmod and when it reboots to load the "rom" I get the Exclamation point/android icon. i click the home button and what it says, right after verifying update package..., is e:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (invalid argument), E:signature verification failed, installation aborted. i can then reboot into tranquility. Am i doing something wrong here? Thanks in advance! Also, off the topic of clockwork, is there any way to set your own sounds for notifications?
Probably what's going on is you're not booting into clockwordmod. Sometimes the bootstrapper doesn't take. Try re-running the bootstrapper and then trying again.
You might also try re-downloading the file if that doesn't work after retrying the bootstrapper.
Its rebooting into clockwork recovery. At least that's what it says on the top of the screen. I also have bootstrap. I tried to install the package manually from clockwork recovery and it said e:signature verification failed. I know you can either boot into bootstrap recovery or recovery using clockworkmod. Would trying to install from bootstrap recovery change anything? Basically what I've been doing is going into clockworkmod, download rom section, download what I want, tell it to install and it fails. Also can I install these mods/roms Manually? Im still learning btw so thanks everyone for their help!
Try using the bootstrap recovery option in bootstraper then going to rom manager and downloading it and installing, seems like you have to hit the bootstrap recovery after every reboot

thanks guys! i ended up getting it to work. i just loaded the roms manually by booting into recovery using bootstrap instead of trying to do it automatically with clockworkmod rom manager. i probably shouldve mention rom manager up there cuz thats the program i was actually having trouble with. so i got everything i wanted installed manually and estoy happy! thanks guys for your replies and help!
So I have a compilation of three issues that I've found on the forums but after two days, of researching and troubleshooting, no luck so hoping someone out there has had a chance to fix this and can share their knowledge.
Here's what I've done so far:
Ran Super One Click to root and worked
Flashed bootloader 30.04
Booted to "critical error 1337 510b"
RSD flashed to VRZ_MB810_2.3.32_1FF_01.sbf (Happy_Holidays_From_TBH.zip) using RSD Lite 4.8
RSD flashed to SHADO_X6_2.3.34_SYSTEM-ONLY.sbf (SHADO_X6_2.3.34_SYSTEM-ONLY.zip)
Lost root so tried Super One Click - wouldn't work
Installed Koush Bootstrap recovery
Installed and successfully rooted with z4root
Tried installing to C_01.43.01P.zip from Peter Alfonso and fails with error in list below
So here are the three errors I'm getting now and haven't been able to find a fix to any of them. I'm thinking it's possible permission issues on my device. I ran the Fix Permissions options from ROM Manager but it didn't help.
When I reboot into recovery mode, get error: "e: can't open /cache/recovery/command"
When try to install baseband update and says"Writing RDL/BP image... E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip (Status 0) Installation Aborted"
Tried flashing a few other SBF's and about 10 seconds into each, DX shows error "critical error 1337 510b" and flash never moves ahead
Here are some of the items I've tried and none of them have helped:
Rename to update.zip
Install using built in recovery
Installed ROM Manager
Installed ClockWork
Battery pull
Wipe cache (several times)
Install package with DroidExplorer
This list could go on and on an on - I've been working on this for two days
EDIT: Realized I hadn't upgraded the kernel from TBH so I just installed it and it worked properly, but still doesn't fix above issue when trying to update my baseband.
The good news is that I took a backup using ClockWork and I've restored it a half dozen times over past few days (so that I could actually leave the house and use my phone) so my phone is working, I just can't do any more flashing
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Been a few days and no replies. Very uncommon for this forum. Did I post in the wrong area? or not follow forum rules? Or I'm just an idiot? I've tried formatting all partitions (except for sdcard) and get "Error formatting boot partition". All other partitions format correctly but still can't install the latest baseband. The only thing that still works is flashing sbf of VRZ_MB810_2.3.32_1FF_01.sbf and SHADO_X6_2.3.34_SYSTEM-ONLY.sbf to get back to stock and restore my latest backup. Please help, I would really like to get the latest baseband installed.
I've been told that C_01.43.01P is only for original Droid, not the X - which is why it wouldn't work.
Go to the Droid X Android Development subforum and look at my thread for the update zip. Its a zip you download and flash through clockwork to upgrade and /or fix issues with the latest OTA. That should fix you right.
Hi all, I screwed up running an update to my ROM, recovered through Odin (again ha), flashed back to stock, rooted successfully, and installed Clockwork, but whenever I try flashing my ROM through ROM Manager, the phone reboots right, then gives me the "E: failed to verify whole-file signiture E: Signiture verification failed"
I just want to get back on BlackHole :\ I searched around but either people figured it out and didnt explain, or the problems variables were too far apart from mine. I have tried removing and reinstalling clockwork, and I have tried redoing the entire process to the same result.
Any insight?
I want to add that I'm not flashing Clockwork through Odin, because the files aren't available on the forum anymore. Is this the error?
You need to flash the cwrecovery.tar file, which enables you to flash zips signed with test keys. Look in the thread about flashing clockwork on win/*nix.

You're doing it right, just missing one step. Installing clockwork mod through rom manager only downloads the update.zip file for it to your sdcard, you have to flash the cwm compatible stock recovery through odin. the file can be found here:
www.androiddoes.net/sonofskywalker3/CWMrecovery.tar

Did you rename your backup? If so, chances are that you either used spaces or odd characters and the caused the failure.

ok ive tried everything in the sticky thread regarding reverting back to froyo using the 2.3.34 SBF file. i flash the file, root, and use the bootstrap to load the Blur_Version.2.3.340 Part 1 and Part 2 files from the sticky thread, but i get the following error.
Verifying Current System....
assert failed: apply_patch_check (/system/app/AccountAndSyncSettings.apk)
then gives a bunch of numbers....then shows the sd file i was trying to apply with "Status 7) Installation Aborted.
i figured the SBF was bad so i redownloaded it from somewhere else, same errors. i even tried to load up the 3 parts to GB .588 hoping to then goto .596, same error.
finally i installed maderstcok340 update file using recovery. everything worked and i was able to install the GB updates. but once i rebooted the phone after it said everthing was successful, it loads into the bootloader screen and wont let me out of it.
im so frustrated. does ANYONE have any idea why this isnt working???
SBF to 2.3.340 (Froyo), root, install Droid 2 Bootstrapper, then install the two part 596 rooted build.
I recommend using Linux to SBF. There's a bootable disc floating around the forums somewhere that you can use. Just Google for it.
Root using Z4root, then install the Droid 2 Bootstrapper application. Be sure that it is the DROID 2 version. The Droid X version doesn't work with Gingerbread.
Lastly, you need to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. To do this open the Droid 2 Bootstrapper application and select the top button, when it gives you the success message press the reboot button to reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
Lastly lastly, wipe data, then install both part one and part two of the Gingerbread zip files. NOTE: You must install both the zip files one right after the other, if you leave recovery before flashing part two you will have to SBF.
Completely lastly, reboot the phone, and if you bootloop boot into stock recovery and wipe data/cache.
Hope this helps ^_^
