[Q] warranty question after Froyo? - Droid X General

I have updated and rooted my phone with Froyo 2.2. I need to send it back to verizon for a warranty replacement. After I SBF back to 2.1 I will have the stock software and no root. Does anyone know if there will be any issues sending this back? I am worried that the bootloader version got updated when moving to Froyo. Thanks for any help.

Have sent several phones back after rooted and sbfed so you will be good.
Even sent one back still rooted and nothing was said. Only problem I ran into was at a store and the tech seen the hack software on my sdcard.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear it looks like the return will go over without an issue after an SBF.

[Q] brick after OTA 2.2 update

yea so this morning i manually installed the OTA froyo update and everything was going fine until it starts to reboot and then im stuck at the M logo. happened to me last week when i tried the leaked 2.3.15 update but i flashed it back and it worked. now i read somewhere that you cant use the 2.1 sbf because of the new bootloader. im thinkin my root has something to do with it because 3 guys i work with have the droid x stock and they all have the new update and im stuck here with a POS that doesnt wanna work. any help on how to fix this would be amazing
I think your only hope to get it fixed today would be to get down to your local Verizon store and have them flash the sbf of 2.2.
Tell them it failed on the update for some unknown reason...
yep did that. put me on the phone with tech support. sending me a new dx and im mailing them mine.
If you've had it longer than 30 days they will send you a refurbished X. You might want to check with Verizon. It may not even matter to you but good to know. I had to get a new BB Tour & it was a referb but I couldn't tell & all worked well.

yea they said they are sending me a refurb but as long as it works. i think im gonna get rid of it once the htc desire HD is released in the US

[Q] anyone gone thru same situation?

i bricked my phone installing a new keyboard. no names and it was my fault for not reading before flashing sbf file. learn lesson here doh. anyways, now since i've search and no one has the new sbf 2.2 file yet i called verizon and just said it was stuck in bootloader and i don't know what happened or going on with it. tech help me do this and that and no luck. soooo he said ill send you another phone. ok my question is the phone stuck in bootloader void my warranty? some saaid no and some said yes. anyone bricked thier phone in anyway and just got a replacement and didn't worry about anything else?
I really don't think they check them that close when you send it in. I actually received an already rooted eris for a replacement before I got my dx.

Going from rooted 2.2 to 2.3

What is the best way to go from a rooted 2.2 to a rooted 2.3?
Dan
I'd love to also, sadly it's not here and may never be.
Just install the OTA update it doesn't matter if you are rooted or not.

I updated to 2.3.340 while I was in the Verizon store when I got home I tried a slew of one click roots and the only one to get the job done was z4root it worked the first time

im on 2.2 rooted, but when i click to check for updates it says im up to date. what gives?
you have to be totally stock before it will let you update, if you're build.prop is far enough off it won't even show there is an update.
how do i go back to totally stock on 2.2? I renamed the bloatware .apk's back to the original files, what else is needed?

Downgrade to stock Froyo SBF from Gingerbread OTA?

I have the GB OTA installed on the Droid Pro, non-rooted. Is it possible to flash back to the stock SBF so that I can root?

Yes. You need the sbf file and rsdlite. it's very simple.

Do you have to activate this device again after you do the downgrade? Because I'm in Europe and my friend have problems with activating it and removing the Simlock when he bought it. He had to contact both Motorola and Verizon many times before they helped him. Even though, he bought it directly from Motorola, it had a Verizon simlock (and there is no Verizon in Europe) and phone was not activated (and it's supposed to be activated in Verizon network).
So, my question is, will it be necessary to do it again? Thank you for any help!
where could i get sbf?
Here's the 2.26.20 SBF. Then you'll have to take the OTAs for the 2.26.60 and 3.8.7 updates.

You can download the updates and flash via recovery
My main objective is to gain root but to my understanding I must downgrade back to 3.8.7, root, and then upgrade via TBH gingerbread update. Ok maybe Im doing something wrong but everything goes fine up until when it says something about "re-enumerating" on RSD. After that the process fails with an error code of 0x703E....any suggestions on what I should do to fix this problem?

Restoring phone

Hi there. I recently rooted and upgraded my phone to 2.2 Froyo. I probably shouldn't have because I was having issues with my phone before I did anything. I need to return my phone to Verizon because they sent me a replacement, and I'm not sure how to restore my phone back to the default 2.1 Eclair. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
There are lots of good posts about how to do this. Find the post entitled Odin DL17 or something along those lines.
