Hi, I have a problem with my xperia x10i, sometimes when I try to tap some icon, it doesnt register the tap, and It need several (2-4) taps to "see" the tap. When entering the menu service on the touch section I can see it doesnt register any taps unless I tap and move a little the finger, like making a little slide to register the tap.
Is there a way to recalibrate or make i more sensitive to my pressure?
Hi, I've never seen a calibration program for the touchscreen, but maybe this helps...
When my fingers are humid, or the screen is dirty or humid (like condensated coming from cold into warm) I get the same effects like non-responsive screen, impossible to use the slider to unlock the phone...
Also, if you hold the phone with your fingers a little too close to the screen , you'll get the same.
Greatings,

I've got my HTC magic last week and order a stylus pen to use with it. The problem is that the phone only respond to finger tap, and I must be holding it. If it is, for example, on the car support and I tap it with my finger it does not respond to touch. Does anyone else have this problem?
Thank you!
The HTC Magic has a captive touch screen, these types of touchscreens only work to the touch of the finger and hence will not work with a stylus.
I also have this problem, not that with the stylus ( I know it can´t be used with stylus). When laying the phone on a tabele an using with only my fingers the respons is very bad. When holding the phone in my hand it´s perfect.
Anyone knows why???
Instead of tapping the screen try a light press, it does not respond to a tap or quick jab with the finger. Go Here and you can read how the Capacitive Touchscreen works.

Best thing that i've found to do, is make a circuit with the phone:
When its flat or in car holder if you make your thumb touch the bottom of the phone (near the roller ball) then use your finger to do the action required this seems to work!
Don't know why, but it does!
If anyone noticed, if you hold your Magic in one hand and use the other hand to point etc, the sensitivity sort of goes down.
Using the fingers (or rather thumb) of the same hand in which you hold your Magic would produce an insanely much better result!

That's due to the orientation of your fingers. Again, it's due to the capacitive screen. Using your thumb on the same hand that's holding the phone, you have more surface area touching on the screen where as if you "point" with the finger (I'm presuming your index) with the empty hand, the surface area is less. You can do a simple test. Press the screen like you were pointing at it then do the same but this time, press it like you were giving your finger print but not as wide.
Sometimes the touch screen is WAY off and only restart is fixing it. Noticed this 2 times already.....
I've noticed this too. I was using the browser, and my screen presses were registering as all sorts of random things (like pressing the middle of the screen would press the zoom button). Restarting the browser seemed to fix it.
Add it to the nexus one issue list.

that's from a lack of multitouch. your hand is probably just barely touching the lower corner of the glass. when you press again in the middle, it registers on the softkeys. it is one of the things I *HATE* about this phone. I always seem to be touching the screen on the very edge. you almost cant use it with just one hand.
I find that I do that with my HTC Magic sometimes as well, the 'webbing' between my thumb and index finger sometimes touches the corner of the screen and brings up the 'app menu' in my left hand, or the 'add widget' menu in my right hand (sense ui). Just another general thing about touch screens and their placement
the four touch buttons arent that accurate. didnt have this problem on the droid. i rarely miss it there but on the nexus is becoming 50/50 chance of it not registering.
Lol how are you guys holding the phone, i always use it one handed and havent expirienced this, i guess everyones different.

This not necessarily a problem with this phone in particular. It is a phenonema that happens on all capacitive touch screens (that do not have multitouch). I work with them all the time (much larger scale) and the slightest touch on a border results in what appear to be calibration issues.
Multi touch takes into account for this, non multitouch does not.
This has happened to me also. Same exact thing, in the browser, the touch was way off, really way off. I was pressing the middle and the zoom button pressed. It was on the table so I know my other hand didn't touch it. It was also vibrating sometimes when I pressed the middle of it. Restarting seems to have fixed it for now.
happened to me in SMS and browser and the only fix was restart the phone.....so its not me accidentally touching the screen in another point.
ps. its so bad that i couldnt even use touch screen to power off the phone. i had to use track ball. (now i know why its there )
I've had this problem as well as other with touch screen. Sometimes I will hit an icon on the main screen and it will jump screens. When I'm in the menu's i hit one of the options and it goes to the one underneath it. I'm CLEARLY hitting the option I want and not the one below so it is infact a hardware problem in my case. I will be in the browser and hit a button and it will exit out of the browser, very annoying! Mine is unlocked but I wrote HTC so lets see what they say.
its a known prob with this phone, ppl are complaining all over Google forum, its very annoying, when it happens it doesn't just happen in the browser, also in text message n home screen ect...

Webbed fingers are gross.
I have now experienced this definitively once. It happened while using the dolphin browser. I wiped the screen off, set it on a table, poked with only one finger, and could not for the life of me get the software keyboard to click on the correct button. Just wouldn't happen. Had to restart the phone to fix it. But it's only happened once since I got the thing on launch day.
^ same thing for me. Does the OTA fix this, I have not received it yet. Wish I saw this before I created a thread, sorry.

i dunno, but touches (especially multitouch) seems ALOT more responsive and accurate than before i did the new update... i used dolphin prior and pinch zooming seemed jittery and like the phone didnt want me to do it... now everything seems smooth as butter!
obviously this is only short term though, but hopefully this fix will also address some of the calibration issues (that i also experienced) that the N1 has been known to have...
I have searched around but have not been able to find a solution, I have a new (two days old) Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +. I love the phone so far, Android 5.1.1 is great, I have always like the TW interface, but I have this one nagging issue, and believe it or not its a big problem. The phone works super in all aspects but with games. Which during my off time I love Tower Madness and Clash of Clans they are my go to solitaire games =) BUT...... The touch screen on this phone is so sensitive it has a hard time registering the difference between screen scrolling or tap to select. So if I go to tap a unit it scrolls the screen ever so lightly before I even tap, then moves the screen, then I have to tap ever so accurately and deliberate or hit it a million times to register I am tapping not scrolling.
This is the one area the phone is just so bad. I have actually tested this over and over and I can scroll the screen without physically touching it holding my finger just above it say 1/16th of an in or less and it will move with my finger like the hover option on my old Note and Note 2. I cannot for the life of me find any sensitivity setting and its a phone issue not an app issue, unless the app can make you scroll the hardware without touching it . The only setting I can find is the mouse/touchpad sensitivity setting which has no affect on this.
Has anyone else been able to fix this?

And I thought it was just me who's thinking that I could literally scroll and use the touch screen without touching it :silly: (may be from 1 mm distance). The effects are less after I've put on the Zagg screen protector, its really thick and rubbery ( with friction). I think they did it to make it work even with gloves on or something since I couldn't find any option to turn on/off the glove mode previously introduced. I also miss the air gesture features introduced with S4.
Yeah it's annoying being forced to have a glove mode at the sacrifice of running apps in the first place. One feature should not defeat the phones use like this.

Interesting, I have the opposite issue. The screen seems much less sensitive than my normal s6 edge.

Even I noticed it, but it's not as drastic as it's for you, so I guess I can live with it. Also at times when holding the phone in one hand it registers my finger from the sides and hinders my main input.

That was happening before. After the Spigen Case, no more...
Any luck?
I wondered if there were a resolution to this issue? I have a new Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and am having the same issue. I play DomiNations, and every tap pans the screen. It's maddening.
I wish, too, I could use the S Pen stylus, but I think that might be more of a game implementation issue than anything.
Open Phone Dialer.
Dial *#2663#
Press TSP FW Update (General)
This will update screen drivers to latest version - has totalloy cured my screen tap scrolling sensitivity issues.
Settings/accessibility/dexterity and interaction/tap and hold delay. Change the 0.5 to 1 sec. Looks like it helped my note edge. I hope it helped someone.
I'm also having the same issue. Every time I try to tap a button inside a game, it scrolls the window instead of activating the button. Of course this also happens when I tap and hold. The screen registers it as movement and tries to scroll instead of tap and hold.
Hello everyone,
So, I'm having a bit of a strange problem with my Yotaphone 2...
I did a factory reset on it a while back, and everything went fine, except now, when the screen is locked, I can no longer unlock the e-ink screen by dragging up the lock icon on the bottom of the e-ink screen. I have to use the hardware power button, which is a little bit inconvenient at times. I've spent quite a while trying to locate what setting got effected to make it not function, but with no luck. Anybody have any idea where I can turn this function back on?
It happened to me too, I think it was something related with the Lollypop update, but could be some setting that has changed and that I cannot find. However, I found that if I double tap before tracing the finger motion, it usually works. That's why I didn't look further into the issue.

Actually, scratch that... after your double tap suggestion, I started randomly tapping around managed just once to get it to unlock from a screen touch, but have not been able to replicate the movement so it happens again. What movement exactly do you use to get it to unlock?
Update:
Seems to be some kind of sensitivity issue. I can get it to unlock about once out of every 50 swipes. Less than ideal.
I leave the phone with the E-ink screen facing up (to prevent the gyroscope from switching sensitivity to the amoled display instead), then press twice the lock icon, and on the second time my finger touches the E-ink, I drag it up to the center of the phone. It took a bit of practice but now I can get it to work consistently. The double tap is because if the phone has been inactive for a while, it enters sleep mode, and it looks like that turns off the finger gesture recognition. Other possible explanations are that maybe you don't press the screen firmly enough, or maybe you placed some plastic sheet over the back display and that reduces sensitivity.
I noticed that the unlock gestures on the EPD work only when the phone recognizes that you've it in the hand or you're using it. So I take it and I unlock it effectively. Trying to unlock when it lays down and you haven't moved it for a while brings to your experience.
Thanks to both of you for the advice... unfortunately, neither seems to be doing the trick. Just a caution for any other people who are thinking of doing a factory reset - it seems to seriously impact sensitivity for the e-ink unlock, so be aware.
I never succeed to do slide up unlock even within 1st tutorial. Double tap unlock was the only workaround for me. Also activated glove sensitivity mode.
Anyone using WhatsApp ? I always experience that sometimes when I try to gap on the send button the screen doesn't register it and I have to tap cautiously to make it register. Is the screen not sensitive enough or the edge doesn't register nicely?
