Used the 1 click method to root the Vibrant, overclocked it, and did the lag fix. Was getting horrible distortion when on calls, using the Vibrant 2.1 Vanilla ROM, so I decided to 1 click unroot. For some reason upadate.zip was not on my SD but on phone HD so the unroot was unsuccessfull. Now Im stuck with the root, recovery mode allows me to select reinstal packages - nothing happens - and I'm back to the same rom/root - once phone reboots. I even put the update.zip back on the sd - but phone is not recognizing it or installing it for some reason. I somehow lost superuser as well. Please help me get back to unroot - if its possible!
Thanks
i'm a noob here too. but this happened to me before (the pc doesnt recgnze the sd card or phone storage. )
just place in one of the drive that PC recognize and then use eStrong or some file manager to copy & paste it... hope this help..
Dropbox is a nice tool too.. figure it out.. it's really useful
I will definitely try that! Thanks. I tried downloading/installing Titanium Backup - as I previously backed up apps - it asked for Busy Box, which disappeared! I downloaded busy Box - it said my phone was not rooted! WTF! It looks rooted - just like Vanilla ROM - defiantly not like stock, when I bought it. I just hope I didnt mess it up. After i initially "1 click" unrooted - I thought it had worked, I restored phone to factory settings - this might also be causing my predicament! I just cant get passed the , reinstall packages, in the boot menu, like before - phone reboots itself right away, after partially/or not at all installing the update.zip from SD!
I think I may need a manual way of getting unrooted/ back to stock!
Please help! Phone works fine otherwise - just looks like the Vanila Rom and root, without any of the benefits!
boot into download mode and flash back to stock using ODIN if you look around you should be able to find some tutorials for it. You'll need to have the android SDK and samsung's drivers installed on your PC though
OK, thanks - sounds like I have to reroot my Vibrant, since it has a lot of the root stuff missing afyter I accidently reset to factory settings while rooted! After I root Ill just have to unroot, right!
Ill look for tutorials, thanks!
This is my situation...
I recently rooted for my Wildfire using Unrevoked3, have no installed any custom roms whatsoever.
To install the new firmware (Update 1.25.405.1) i followed a guide which involved renaming it to update.zip and used clockmodrecovery to install update.zip from the SD card.
Update was successful however i lost the root (as expected)
I tried to rerun unrevoked 3 to reroot but all it does is reboot my device and it remains unrooted.
On the HBOOT recovery menu i now get a red triangle with an exclamation mark against a black background. i do power + volume up and it says android system recovery and in yellow 'E: Cant open/cache/recovery command'
How can i reroot my phone so i can use apps such as titanium backup once again? (and yes ive tried to install busybox and i get a failed error message)
I have looked around the forums and made lots of searches some of which address this question but i am yet to find a solution which works... Im sorry if this question is redundant as i am new to this sorta thing.
Thanks.
Did you follow this guide?
Update: What I did to succesfully install the update on a rooted phone
- unplug phone from USB, let it download update (it's about 13 Mb in size)
- phone will ask to reboot -> update will fail, you will be dumped in clockworkmod
- As always, do a Nandroid backup before doing anything that might possibly render your phone unusable.
- Select update from zip/sdcard (or similar), navigate to zip in downloads folder
- the update process will start
- reboot (this can be a longer boot than usual, took 10 minutes on my phone)
- phone will notify you that the update has succeeded! If you've upgraded from your stock ROM (like I did), the phone info screen should look similar to that in the attached image.
- (reflash needed for root)
It doesn't say to rename the file though.
I'm going to do this now (im guessing youre on TM too?)
thanks for the info, i'm just about to do the same thing, after trying [ROM][04/10] WildPuzzleROM v8.0.5; until i realised there are still problems, got scared and restroed nandroid backup Couldn't get marketplace to load?
when phone reboots after downloading the update, i guess its supposed to be installed by the recovery program, but i have clockworkmod, I tried apply sdcard:update; get error back with failed to open update.zip and sig veri failed.
Not sure what to do? Will try booting normally, checking sd theres a file called 'OTA_Buzz_TMO_UK_1.25.110.1_R-1.14.110.1_R_release31o90ome6fwgje76.zip' on the sd card under download folder. will try renaming to update.zip and placing in \sdcard root folder
otherwise i'm thinking rom manager to install, but mobilism is down it seems and can't get hold of it
EDIT: Just rename the update put it in the \sdroot. Boot into recovery and install update.zip. works fine, takes ages, very scarey process.
Will try going back to puzzle when i have more time! Lets hope 1.25 don't crash as frequently!
Yes, i did follow all those instructions and it still didnt work. However i have managed to reroot my wildfire haha so problem is resolved. It was a stupid problem, after i rooted the first time, i reinstalled htc sync to sync some stuff but forgot to uninstall. After uninstalling it again i was able to reroot.
Sorry guys... very silly mistake by me.
What do I do?!?
If your bootloader is still locked just use SEUS to reinstall the software on your phone. Everything will be lost though. Games, apps, data e.t.c. Sd card data will be fine
How do I do that? I just synced with SEUS and it says there is no need to update?
Yes there is no update out. But it gives you the option to reinstall the latest software once it has checked your phone.
Where's that option? All it says is Exit :S
What model is your play? r800i, r800a e.t.c.
It doesnt say reinstall sorry it just says install.
Open SEUS click accept terms and conditons, then pick the xperia play r800, then connect your phone in flash mode. It will then check your phone and say "you already have the latest software" and at the bottom it says exit or next to it install. Click install and it will reinstall the software.
ill try again later,charging it,I think it's below %50
fully charged and still :S There has to be a way to restore
Not sure if this will work but have adb on my computer, can I use that to replace files? I think the reason it's in a boot loop because I replaced the systemui, semsphone and semcgenericuxres apks
Meh,I just reflashed the uk tft and started back.

You couldnt of used adb anyway, cause without an unlocked bootloader, you cant get into recovery, so the phone would have to be booted to use adb
so here is a little background:
i rooted my phone, unlocked it, etc. then i wanted to try a new rom.
so i went to TWRP recovery and i formatted the whole phone. like literally wiped everything off it.
with some tinkering i was finally able to use the root toolkit to get a rom back on my phone so that i could boot it up.
but now it wont recognize my ABD drivers, or it does.... it shows up at NEXUS4 on my computer.
however i cant add anything to my phone via my computer. or take any of the pictures off of it.
it wont let me mount it or do anything. i am able to DL roms to my phone and do it that way.
but what i would like to be able to do is get it back to the normal. were i can add stuff to it via my computer.
sure there are work arounds like dropbox and other file cloud services. but still.... it bugs me
PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!
Are you trying to add/remove files using ADB or MTP?
so this is weird..... i just tried it to take a screenshot and show u..... but it seems like it is working now.... i dont know how to explain this other than flashing a newer bettter rom must have fixed it.... INTERESTING thanks for the help anyways
Glad things worked out for you

I'm not sure what happened to him, but I updated and everything is fine. I have the Play Store, Xposed Framework works, and it even kept root access and BusyBox! Sooo... he must have wiped something he shouldn't have.
Update loop
I rooted through the 1click method with rootmyoua and xposed.
I did not disable auto update before the release of jackalope, and since today my console is in a download update, install update loop
I tried hard reset and re-install of xposed. Is there a way to remove root other than factory reset? I don't care about this update, im fine with staying on the previous version.
Currently, I have to unplug my internet every time I return to the home screen, when fetching update starts.
Will try again tomorrow but not very hopeful.
Any tips?
Im at build number 12771_r1
software 1.0.11
Root still active
CWM not installed
I believe the newest should be 128531_r1, so the update fails. I might try sideloading the update with adb, but afraid it will brick because the installation somehow does not succeed.
Update fails relatively quickly.
I get a red exclamation mark. After pressing home I enter the recovery menu, with options for factory reset and apply update via adb.
I would have to move my computer over there though, never connected to microUSB before.
Is it possible in CWM to load the update from the internal sdcard or connected USB drive?
Recovery log
finding update package
opening package
verifying package
Installation aborted
[UPDATE] sideloading the latest from ouyafw dot skumler dot net solved my issue. Might have to do this for every update, but minor inconvience as I found a long usb cable that strectches to my pc

Try turning the verification check off for the OTA updates through CWM. I have it turned off and it goes through without issue.
