Howdy, Guys.
Well, my digitizer broke, started getting really really finnicky, at first I thought it was just CM9 touch drivers. But yesterday, I noticed it had a huge dead spot, and touch test confirmed. I found a deal on a Lumia 900 on Craigslist, and will be using this for the next 5 months until my upgrade.
I've never been a part of such a devoted and active community on XDA. I thank you all for all your help, and I'm glad to have been able to contribute in whatever ways I could. I look forward to working with some of you again, maybe we'll see an Atrix 3 together.
Thanks for everything, and Good Luck
-Peter
Adios buddy.
The 900 is a cool phone. Battery life is sucky, but the UI is the best part about the phone.

Farewell and good luck with your new phone !
No need for another thread on same topic...
Well Guys & Gals, it's been fun on the Atrix Forums... been here since March of last year, and saw all the milestones for this device. But the time has come to move on to a newer phone.
My Galaxy S3 will be arriving tomorrow. So while I may not be as involved on a day to day basis as I have in the past, I'll still be around. And I'm still the forum moderator, so don't go thinking your gonna get away with anything.
See ya around,

Well guys, I really only had an atrix for about a month (baught it at amazon for 220 but I sold it for 350) lol. You gotta love XDA and all the devs out there who can make something that is suppose to be fast be fast AKA CM7.
I really was hoping ICS version stable, would have been made while using this phone.
Oh Well, hey you guys and gals, take care and as we say in Germany Tschuess!
Sad to see you guys go. I'm tempted by the GS3 but it's not quite what I want still. I think I'll keep rocking the Atrix for another month and see what happens. And possibly save some green on the upgrade if I decide to go GS3 anyway.

I'm leaving too, gsm galaxy nexus from the play store
Wife will use my upgrade for whatever she decides on
I'd like to thank all of you who are active here and stayed active through thick and thin
Most especially the leaker of the unlocked boot loader file then the devs who brought us more than enough great roms to make me really love this phone (after blur made me hate it) I'll still keep my Atrix so I can still try out what you all come up with.
Unfortunately, I have upgraded my phone as well to the Galaxy S3. Since money is tight, I am selling my Atrix to pay for the upgrade so Aura is now discontinued officially (I assume most considered it that way already).
It was a fun run and I hope everyone has a wonderful year.
I'm not leaving right away, I'll wait until a next batch of S3's are available before I use my upgrade..
It's been great guys!

While I am on the SGSII right now, I am still excited about a more stable CM9 on the Atrix.
Too many turn offs with me on upgrade options. SGSIII - Micro SIM (and I don't want to go the SIM adapter route) + too large of a screen.
Nexus - refuse to buy until Nexus finally makes a phone with a MicroSD.
HTC - Needs to prove itself in battery life.
Honestly while I am currrntly enjoying the SGSII, I'm STILL going back and forth with my Atrix on CM7.2. Don't know why but I just really love almost everything about the Atrix, and probably will never sell it...

Once you play with it for a few hours it makes the Atrix feel downright tiny and insignificant in screen size, it is crazy. It feels pretty much perfect in size after a short while.
Not to mention that it runs more fluid on the stock rom than any phone I have ever used. Amazing device, I would definitely say go try it out once demo's start showing up in stores. The microSIM isn't so bad, since after using it for a few days I can't use the Atrix anymore. It feels so small and hard to see the screen... which is kinda depressing because I loved the Atrix, only phone I have ever used for my full contract period.

I'm poor, so no S3 for me, but I picked up a refurb skyrocket for $10 as a contract upgrade. My wife's still on an atrix, though, and it does indeed seem small and insignificant after just a few hours w/ the skyrocket. LTE is amazing as well. Faster than my 18mbps uverse. Was a good run.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the support in making the atrix a much better experience then Moto did.
TheBill was great giving us awesome roms even when he did not have an atrix.
My atrix died for the 3rd time and rather then go through the warranty process once again I have decided to wait for the Lumina 920.
Ill be using the Iphone 4 as a temp phone (now I know why i didnt go apple) but am excited to give a whole new operating system a try.
Again thank you to a great community.

Define "soon" . you may be waiting until around November or so. I think the back glass itself is sleek as all hell. I'm just afraid of breaking it. So I put it in a case where I don't get to enjoy its beauty.

Here's what I said in a thread of someone asking if it's worth it. Basically: you should buy it.
Johmama said:
The main pros of the Nexus 4 that I keep listing anytime I tell people about it are the following:
1. Price. $350 is pretty much half the price of any other competitor to the Nexus 4
2. Pure Android, updated directly from Google. As soon as a new version of Android is released, it's on the Nexus. Google develops Android FOR this device.
3. Design. Glass front and back, it's a solid phone. Looks sleek.
Now, newly-released phones do have slightly better hardware. But we're getting to the point of diminishing returns. We're packing so much hardware into these devices, you'll hard-pressed to find software that actually makes use of it. I think the only debate you should be having is buy the Nexus 4 now, or wait until the next Nexus comes out, possible during the holidays. That isn't to say this phone won't still be a solid phone then, but I can understand if some people wait to buy updated versions.
To answer your question: yes. It is definitely worth it. At $350, it's fiscally irresponsible NOT to buy a Nexus 4. Right now I'm paying $30/mo for a tablet plan on AT&T with 3gb of data. Having weird and crazy options like that don't seem to happen with other phones. I feel like the Nexus 4 is YOUR phone, not 80% your phone, 20% the manufacturer's.
Spoiler alert: I might be a little biased, but c'mon. It's a sweet phone.

Thanks everyone for replies, especially @Johmama . How's the battery life and speaker sound? I wish I could buy it now, but I have tickets to pay so I have to wait a month
Not to mention the strong development support, if you're the adventurous type it's nearly impossible to hard-brick a Nexus.
Pure Android (AOSP) is rather nice by itself and I could live with that, but I like to go custom a bit .

Well battery isn't as long as say a Galaxy S3 with a 7000mAh extended battery on it. The N4 uses a 2100mAh battery and depending on your usage, it could last maybe 4 hours of constant screen usage at full brightness (screen takes most the battery), or it can last over 21 with the occasional checking of facbook, emails, etc once every couple of hours.
Here's a screenshot when I finally got it down to zero percent. (it stayed idle overnight as I slept, and then I used it here and there during the day.)

LoL, true we may be bias, but I'll at least tell you quirks I've noticed. Even so I'd still pick an N4 unless all the other brands want to ship full AOSP at the same price and include extras like maybe a micro-SD card slot or replaceable battery . I kind of wish you could use USB-OTG without a 5V adapter, but I don't use my phone the same way I use my Tablet.

Well I'm not buying a phone of any of you, so it's not like someone has to advertise it so I'd buy it. That's why I asked in N4 forum, because all of you have N4.
Basic stuff like Wifi and 3G data have hardware or driver problems. I sometimes wish I'd paid $100 more for a phone that has had more testing/QA. (Not sure there is a better phone for only $100 more, though.) I still prefer this phone to the SGS3, which has fundamentally bad OS design and poor compatibility with third party Android builds.
I have not seen much about this phone. It's a cheap ( no exact price yet) small sized phone to test out tmobile's lte if you want to think about switching away from big V like me.

Now $149. I'd grab it if I could root it. Zero development on this device and this is the only thread even discussing it. Shame but not surprising. You're almost better off to get an old phone that has plenty of options than a new one with none.
Sounds very interesting. I hope it will be released in Europe soon too.
I've read that that it reaches an antutu score around ~17000+. First an only 4'' phone with a quad core at the moment.!
But, does anybody know if it has a light sensor to adjust the brightness automatically?
Lol some guy wanted to trade me the Light for my One S...
Seeing that its pretty...new and no dev'ment yet, its a no.
Thats the same exact reason I got rid of my ol Boost Mobile LG Venice.
Besides, I'm not a fan of mediocre carrier service.
It sounds appealing though, i mean 1gb ram tied in with quad core, clocked at 1.4GHz not bad.
But its using TFT screen technology sized at 4 inches, a 5mp cam and a 0.3mp front. What sort of odd combo is that?
At least they should have given it an AMOLED then maybe the miniature screen would make some sense.
If you ask me, its like a merged Galaxy Prevail and a Galaxy S. Good for those who want something cheap yet preformance
worthy (I guess) but for a quad core device, ratings for it on many review sites are depressingly low. Hey at least it
has NFC, but still all that preformance on a TFT screen will make playing games feel like your on an older device.
I think the screen alone was a let down for me.
It does not make my list, nor capture my attention. My guess is, NAY.
I just got this phone. Any clue how to root it? I don't want to brick it following the s4 method.
Does anyone know how to network unlock this phone?
I just got this phone before leaving on vacations and can't seem to find a way to network unlock it so that I can use it outside the U.S.
I have tried all popular unlocking methods for S3's and S4's but none seems to work.
There is another thread about rooting this phone, but noone has figured out how to do it, just yet. I guess the new kernel is causing some issues. Anyway, the other thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539232 I will be picking this phone up as soon as I am able. The small size and the quad core and the speed is also what I have read. As I am not a gamer, the screen is fine. LTE and NFC are features I would use. It's like Samsung figured out that if a user isn't gaming, a big high-end screen isn't as important as speed of connectivity. The gamers have the S4. The rest of us get the Light.

So I was going to try the LightWave ROM but I have some concerns... Is this going to lock my SIM out, and keep me from accessing my network? Because,I also do not have a second phone to goof off with this one, and if I brick (or worse, get locked out of the data network)I'm screwed. So does anyone know if this locks out T-Mobile's network? Thanks in advance!
On an irrelevant side note, if anyone is using a stock (w/root) ROM and are tired of TouchWiz, I actually figured out how to dump it! There is an app in the Google Play store called "System app remover (ROOT)" and all i did was looked for touchwiz in the app and deleted it. Sorry for rambling.

I can't guarantee you won't brick your phone. Nobody can guarantee anything when you start flashing things. Once you have TWRP though, it's really hard to screw things up irreparably.

Hi,
And all your questions have been answered in different threads, you just need a little search...
Battery life (or screen on time if you prefer), it depends mainly (only) of your use (games, browsing, just calls, etc...) and your settings (like screen brightness, synchro, wifi/data, etc...), how we can tell you what will be your average battery life depending to your use...?
Same thing for the storage, how we can know what you put in your phone and if it will be enough It's just you who know this... In any case something nice exists: USB OTG cable or at least cloud storage.

No battery drain. I use my storage for music when I hit the gym and my photos. I also use google drive which is an additional 15 gigs of cloud storage for free. I'm a heavy web and app user (I use anywhere from 12-15 apps) with my screen cranked to about 60% also and I get 16 hours of straight usage which includes talk time. If you're a power user you'd love the phone. If you do light usage you'd love it even more. People complain about the GPS. You let it lock in the first time (it takes about 30 sec) after that its an instant lock. This is a great phone
I love it! I use it normally full time college student and get the most about 18hours on battery sometimes more

Alright mate, Imma try to give you a quick though solid, personal opinion of mine:
*I WANTED THE NEXUS 5 b4 THE 1st WHIFF OF RUMORS STARTED .... BUT ~>
*I have been on VZW forever + have unlimited data, recently on the GNEX running 4.4 quite well
*After WEEEEEKS of hemming-hawing about: stay on VZW w/ unl. data, supior. ntwrk. BUT w/ a new contract -OR- get a N5 and go with much more inferior services, Play Store wait time > I had one on order within an hour of release buuut I just kept debating if I wanted to deal with a switch, etc (FYI, NO I CAN'T STAND VZW "Customer Service" & MASSIVE GREED & LACK OF A SOLID RANGE OF HIGH-END DEVICES ?& POOR OTA's .... and on and on)
>>>I knew I couldn't simply reply to your question quickly .... I was down to the Moto X (older tech eliminated it 4me BUT it IS a badass) ... so it was down to the NEXUS 5 & dealing with a switch, losing my unlimited data & gettting crappy other carrier OR get the N5's closest KIN .... THE LG G2.
I am a very content (yet still tentative) owner of a G2 for 36 hrs so far .... got 13 more days to return to Best Buy w/o ANY restocking fee -IF- I do not like IT .... I got mine for $49.00 (yeah, yeah on contract) ..... rooted it last night and have been messing with it for hours on end (need to go to sleep. gotta work in a little bit !) ..... anyways, I just flashed AOSPA 4.0+/4.4 w/ Custom G2 kernel ..... coming from a completely TWEAKED/OPTMZD VanirAOSP GNEX, the G2 is VERY IMPRESSIVE ....significantly better camera than N5, SAME SNAP 800, a little better build quality, a little more 'refined' & 'polished' BUT the dammm buttons on the back take A LOT of getting used to, esp when trying to do combos to get recovery, etc
SOOOOO, It is MY HONEST OPINION, THAT YES, THE G2 (ROOTED & LIGHTLY TWEAKED) IS WELL-WORTH YOUR TIME & MONEY ..... if only we could get 1/10th of the DEV Support that the N5 gets lmmfao !
Hope that helped ... a little anyways ..... I will add .... the G2 is EASILY the BEST DAMM SMARTPHONE I HAVE PERSONALLY OWNED - no doubt !!!

Aside from your Verizon Experience I agree about the LG G2.
I just ordered this phone today from Amazon. They put it on sale last night for 1 cent and they don't charge sales tax here. Couldn't pass that up and if I decide that I want the N5 I'll have two new phones for the cost of the N5. :good:
I had then choice between the Nexus 5 and the G2, but because the two in Denmark cost the same. This is why I chose the G2:
Amazing battery. I only charge 2 time a day when i'm flashing roms constantly
Big screen to footprint ratio (Also bright colors, and nice contrast)
Great camera (As long as you stay on the stock rom, it really slow on aosp based roms)
Personally i have come to like the back mounted buttons and knock-on
Currently i'm running a AOSPA 4.0 rom (KitKat), so basically right now my G2 is a "better-than-nexus" for the same price.
I'll give it 8/10. Loses two because of the ugly LG software, and the plasticy body. Both if which i have fixed with the KitKat rom, and a soft touch case.
If your take photos of toddlers or pets you'll want to kill the phone dead. With fire.

Check out the the thread that addresses the screen issues before you purchase the G2.

It's been an awesome device for me for almost 2 months for me. I'm a heavy user and I can easilly get through the entire day on the battery. Its fast fluid and smooth and LG's factory UI is amazing. But the sceen issues have pretty much crippled the device. knock knock doesnt work any more and there's a strip across the upper portion of the screen that doesnt register touches anymore. With the screen issues happening so often to users, I can't recomend this device to anyone.

Supposedly the below fix helps to reduce lag and even camera lagg... Give it a shot..

Also has anyone used USB OTG ? Can I use a micro-USB to SD card adapter while using USB OTG protocol? I guess it should work...
The one I have the idea of using is this. Its just easier for me as I already have a micro SD card and its less bulky then lets say as flash drive...

Please really need this info as I need to order this ASAP ...
After contemplating for a whole while, choosing from an unlocked Xperia Z1 or Ultra, LG G2 (even the F320 expandable versions) international editions and the 32GB Nexus 5 (of which Google Play ended up shipping out last Wed, in spite of "shipping from warehouse by Dec 3") for weeks.
Well, after weighing the pros vs cons on the Nexus 5 vs G2 for Straight Talk use...I ended up with a locked T-Mobile LG G2 from Swappa. Took delivery of it last Black Fri. It is now running sweetly on my old microSIM trimmed Straight Talk/T-Mob service.
Coming from an old Gingerbread 2.3 Acer Liquid MT (data at 3-4Mbps tops) holdout...this LG is effing pretty fast on all fronts (data hitting 13-14+Mbps consistently).
I'm still in the process of tinkering my new LG toy though..
My LG G2 love affair has just begun.
P.S. All I need now..getting to have my Moto Xoom internet to work tethering from my LG..and to refuse UPS delivery of the black N5 by tomorrow.
i keep reading other threads and posts about why people aren't happy with their M8..........i for one am extremely happy with mine in fact i have not been happier with a phone since i got an 02 xda exec (who remembers them)
i don't care if my screen may look a bit yellower than someone else's i am not one to compare things anyway i can see everything i want on the screen i have and can do everything from reading my books surfing the web play games and do work .......im happy
my battery lasts all day the way i use my phone ...i don't need 140hours of use and 28 days standby .......
i don't care if my grey is lighter or darker than anyone else's....im happy with the colour i have
my build quality seems fine ....nothing coming off or rattling .....im happy
I'm happy with sense don't need a gpe
i don't need a mega mega pixel camera i have a nikon d600 for that ....the camera is fine for what i would ever need it for u want more megapixels either buy a dslr or a nokia or sony
i have had a shed load of phones through the years and all of them bought because i wanted them regardless of looks style peer pressure or sales patter i make a decision and go buy it then use it as it was intended to be used ....but what i don't do is gripe gripe gripe .....far to many people nit pick and to a certain extent may well put others off buying that model i bet that for every one person on this forum that has a problem/gripe/nitpick there are 100`s that love it but you rarely hear from them
as a side note my phone was bought from cex in the uk along with a s5 for my son and he loves his as much as i love mine so it really is horses for courses.......of course mines better coz i can and have, unlocked boot loader, rooted, s-offed, changed cid/mid, sim unlocked and flashed ARHD and he can't !!!!
The camera is fine, I just wish that it was smoother, I'm coming from an iPhone so I'm a little spoiled in some areas and abused in others.

its a perfect phone. i don't know what the hell there is to complain about really. if it got 100 MP camera someone would complain about something . else. for a smaller battery than my G2 it sure as hell last just as long...... oh its too long.... ohh the bezels are too big. blah blah for real? lmao. let me shake my phone to see if something rattles. people do all sorts of crazy things. trust me i had every phone known to man, and this phone is close to perfect. would i take a bigger battery or camera sure. does it hinder the phone at all. def not! and sense 6 is the best version yet
i am also a happy M8 user :good:
I really liked this phone
I came from galaxy note 3
It's really smooth and fast,I like the camera and the screen is good
I can't find anything to dislike this phone it's awesome.

That shouldn't be a huge issue. Just have tmobile configure your APN settings.

Yeah they did and they said sometimes with unlocked phones that doesn't work. I read that since kitkat been released att blocked unlocked phones being able to send and receive pictures. Everything else works besides this.

very nice batterie life, good camera, very nice style and nice stock features.
i'm happy because i managed to get one on upgrade with EE for just £29.99 per month with no upfront cost !!!!
bargain....:victory:
I think most people are happy with their M8, but feel a tiny bit let down by a couple of things. I love my M8 but I wish HTC had better quality control. Mine had 2-3 small scratches right out of the box, along with a loose volume rocker. I know that nothing is perfect but to be honest I've seen many iPhone's 5 and 5S and all of them are the same out of the box...
Other than that nothing beats this phone really. Excellent device all round.

thats a good deal ......personally i never use a contract been with giffgaff since the start due to unlimited data and since the beginning of this year used ee for the 10gb data for 30£ per month and will look at giffgaff again when they roll out 4g ......when ever i change handsets i use cex so i can trade in the old one and save some money
Coming from a Droid Maxx with a 3500 battery I can say that the M8 battery is not terrible at all.
I don't think the people who are complaning hate the phone itself, but they have defects which make them not like the one they have in their hands.
Personally, I love the M8, but my first one had speaker grills and a screen that looked like they were going to pop off, and my second one has a loose volume rocker and dead pixel. I do love this phone, but I wish HTCs quality control was better.

I've been using my M8 for nearly 2 weeks now.
Coming from Galaxy S4, i can tell the difference is abysmal. The speed, the quality of the screen, the way the phone manages the different task, the battery life is amazing! The pictures are good too.
Overall i feel satisfied with the change
I just jumped over after owning an iphone5S and absolutely loving the M8 and android.
I love the HTC M8 , Luckly enough for me I managed to get a makeshift screen shield over the camera since it had developed two scratches already . Mind you it lives in an otterbox . Other than that one issue and stopping future scratches from developing . No dead pixels , grills pretty much flush with the screen and the volume keys are fine since they in a case anyways LOL . Hell I even like Sense (OMG WHO JUST TYPED THAT) , and what they have done with it .

I'm on ATT and I can send and receive pictures just fine. I've always had my phone's unlocked so I don't know who posted that but that just isn't true.
Oh and I also love this phone. I'm usually a huge Samsung person but this has been the best phone I've had to date.... And I've had A Lot.

My M8 is AT&T but unlocked using on T-Mobile. This the only phone I had this problem with and other people having the same issue and they saying it happened when KitKit released and something about Att started blocking it for people who unlock there phones to use for other carriers.
And I agree with you on that. The S5 was the first Samsung phone I didn't like.
