When will Android have full-blown, native activesync support?
I understand that even the newest versions of android only support email sync at the moment, correct?
As far i know there will never ever be a native support between Active Sync and Android!
Active Sync is for Windows Mobile only.
Activesync was licensed by google ... they can use it in Android.
It's in eclair aka 2.0.

So then please explain how to use Active Sync with Android 2.0
Would be very interesting for me with the Droid which is running Eclair
But i think its still impossible until there is an app for it.
The Work Email App is an ActiveSync/Exchange mail client. So far as I know, there is nothing that connects to Activesync to do a desktop PC Outlook sync. Every solution goes directly to Exchange.
If you find anything that syncs with Outlook please let me know.

Really - full blown activesync with push sync of email, contacts, calendar, tasks, ... ?
No tasks, but yes for mail, contacs, and calendar on 2.x on HTC builds (like Hero) and Rogers 1.5 builds.

I didn't mean to say it wasn't. It's just not what I'm looking for.
My experience with TouchDown (and the reason it's not the best solution for my needs), is that it doesn't integrate transparently with the rest of the O/S. Android 2.0 strikes a nice balance between transparency and power because you can do things like add a contact, then select which service to associate it with, but it still shows in your contacts list all the same.
is there a way to use htc sync pc application with hd2 to sync contacs music and more
bumbing............
no...answer???
If you need to sync contacts and calendar with Outlook use Android Sync. It's still in beta so there may be some problems (it doesn't support recurrent appointments as an example).
Hello. I tested using Android Sync with the FroyoStone Series - Version 1 (07-Aug-2010) build and was not able to perform a sync as the Android Sync app would not recognize my TMobile HD2. As I understand it, the FroyoStone build does not yet fully support USB so this may be why I observed the aforementioned results.
works with froyostone sense, the newest kernel and HTC Sync 3.0.5422
Yes you can
I have HTC sync working flawless on newest MattC 1.6B.
Download and install this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726504
Reboot after install
Plug in phone and choose htc sync option.
Make sure drivers install correctly....if not you need this
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Check for update inside HTC sync
Download and Install update
Turn off sync for contacts and calenders (Kept getting unable to read from PIM message with these on and then sync cancelled)
**First sync takes a while if you have alot of file, but after that it is smooth as butta**
If anyone has a workaround for contacts and calenders please let me know as this would be handy!
Hope it works!
There is an android sync at android-sync.com for outlook sync. Seems good..

Are you sure that HTC sync is sync-ing contacts properly with outlook 2007?
In my case it leaves the phone numbers in fields "car", "Radio", "Assistant" etc. in a contact in outlook 2007.
I am using latest 3.11.55 ver of HTC Sync.
Any body with such issues?

Sorry for bumping an old thread.
This is what I am looking for, but you have to pay for it, as the trial only syncs 20 contacts.
Why should I pay for something that is still in beta and I feel it should be free, since android is free....
Or am I just being stupid? Are there any other free 'syncs' that I can use? I just want to sync my contacts....

Hey Guys,
The link came back with an HTC error. Could you please repost correct link or PM it to me? Can't find it on HTC's website either.
Thanks.
IT IS CONFIRMED
new version of HTC Sync syncs all the fields of outlook on my desktop.
Now Android is a welcome platform....
I install HTC Sync 3.0 for Desire and it's working perfectly. But only sync calendar and contacts from my outlook. Is possible in the future to sync everything? Like notes, tasks and mainly mails. I don't use exchange or gmail - only download via POP3 emails to PC and synchronize with my HD2 and NTB.
It's only one thing, why I haven't used Android yet.
Thanx for reply
Does your email support IMAP? If so, I'd use that instead of POP. Setup that email accounts as IMAP on both the phone and desktop. The server keeps them in sync. It works similar to Exchange.
I know, but it doesn't solve problem with 1Gb emails in my Outlook. I don't like IMAP, because it's quite slow, when you have to transfer a big number of email.
I now many possibilities how to solve this problem, but I don't want to change anything, just sync. thx
He can u post the Link to the HTC Sync tool.
I'm not able to download via HTC site.
Or is the HD2 serial working for Desire HTC Sync Download ?

Hi,
I believe there is no direct syncronization Outlook <-> Android phone.
But, there is an alternative.
It is not free - $14.
The name is gsyncit.
It is a windows application. When you press synchronize it synchronizes all your contatcs, calendar evetns and tasks with the google account.
And when you synchronize the phone with the googel account - it gets syncronized.
Also if you change anything in the phone or in the google account you get it changed in Outlook.
BTW even if you upload a picture of a contact in the google account it will put the picture in Outlook.
I got two licenses- one for me and one for my wife

Other solution is to use Android Sync (http://www.android-sync.com/) but I found it less nice than HTC Sync.

Hi,
I am not sure if someone else asked this question. I updated my phone to Nand Gingerbread. Everything works great. However, the major problem I am having is that HTC Sync (on Win7 laptop) does not recognize the device.
In the previous Android (2.2), when we used to connect it to the PC, many options would appear to identify the type of the connection. One of those options was "HTC Sync". Choosing this option used to allow HTC Sync software on the windows pc to recognize the device and sync its contents.
However, in Gingerbread I cannot find anyway to connect my HD2 in a "sync" mode in order to allow HTC Sync to recognize it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
htc sync requires htc sense.

Had the exact same problem when i was trying out a Gingerbread rom, and thanks to Tann he told me about a program called MyPhoneExplorer
It works with your dilema and you'll be back to syncing:

ooo good find, i looked high and low for an outlook sync solution, cant believe i missed this.
it also seems to include the adb usb drivers, so perhaps this could be installed instead of the whole android sdk for the adb drivers....

Thank you so much. This application seems very useful.
Anyways, my problem is that before I flash my HD2 to Gingerbread, I had Froyo Sense, and I synchronized all my contacts to HTC Sync on my PC, and now after I flashed I found that I cannot get those contacts back...
So I guess my only solution is to flash back to Froyo Sense, get those contacts, sync them using MyPhoneExplorer, and then Flash again to Gingerbread.
Thanks for the help everybody.

HTC Sync uses outlook, you need to look in the setting in the app, you can re-sync your outlook contacts with this program. Thats what its meant for also.

You have to install the tool on your win7 from here.
After that install My Phone Explorer Client from the Market. Connect your phone via WLAN or USB and start the Client on the phone. After that start the app from your win7 and set up your sync source (Outlook/Windows Contacts/Gmail/only MyPhoneExplorer) in settings or via new phone assistent.
You can now sync Contacts/Appointments/SMS/Files/Tasks and Notes (new with separate phone app).
It's the first sync solution where you can sync outlook tasks and notes, I love the tool.

Whew, my first post here and am really enjoying good stuffs and i mean cooked roms .
its just that some android hd2 roms especially those based on other non htc firmwares (like nexus one), dont connect to htc sync and i want to know if there are workarounds.(didnt see any)
I really like the miui roms with their speed but i cant seem to get them to sync with htc sync.Any ideas?
ps:By the way, htc sync is installed in the firmwares.
HTC Sync is only available in Sense based roms, and in my opinion it sucks. There are better alternatives out there, for example MIUI has backup built in, some users swear by titanium backup and you can backup the whole system from recovery.
If you are looking to sync with outlook, try "myphoneexplorer", sync contact and calendar, backup SMS, sync over wifi, Bluetooth or USB, worked well for me for months now.
thanks for the help so far..i think my problems re solved......u guys are the bomb.
