Whew, my first post here and am really enjoying good stuffs and i mean cooked roms .
its just that some android hd2 roms especially those based on other non htc firmwares (like nexus one), dont connect to htc sync and i want to know if there are workarounds.(didnt see any)
I really like the miui roms with their speed but i cant seem to get them to sync with htc sync.Any ideas?
ps:By the way, htc sync is installed in the firmwares.
HTC Sync is only available in Sense based roms, and in my opinion it sucks. There are better alternatives out there, for example MIUI has backup built in, some users swear by titanium backup and you can backup the whole system from recovery.
If you are looking to sync with outlook, try "myphoneexplorer", sync contact and calendar, backup SMS, sync over wifi, Bluetooth or USB, worked well for me for months now.
thanks for the help so far..i think my problems re solved......u guys are the bomb.

heya,
have my prophet running pdaviet rom v 4.0.0.0 when i connect to activesync there is no option to save my contacts ( i don't use outlook as it annoys me!!) and i use ubuntu mainly so only use xp for syncing. is there anyway to save them. i like playing around with roms and don't particularly want to manually load them again every time i switch.
cheers guys
ps. if it means using outlook i guess i am willing lol
Yea, you need outlook... Sadly, I had it installed also... Welcome to the club!
still a problem
right when i have active sync isnatlled and it wont allow me to share my contacts. as i say im using a pdaviet windows mobile 6 rom. its a bit frustrating. in the menu of things to select syncing only the bottom 3 are avalable. this does not include contacts, only favourites etc....
chees
????
please anyone? or anybody got any idea of any roms (windows or different) thats will sync?
I just got the official nod from M$, and so far, this product is AWESOME!
Sync's more than Wireless Sync does, enables me to use Email and Web for Smartphone as opposed to the full bore 45 dollar feature, and just all in all makes me excited to have a cell phone again.
anyone have any gripes about MyPhone so far?
as an FYI, when I set it up o ny wife's xv6900, it took about 4 minutes, to sync her contacts, calendar, tasks, SMS, and her pictures. And I have horrid signal in my house.
Omnia here I come!
I am so glad I have a google sync-ish product for WM now. Sweet!
you know WM phones have had google sync for like a year now right?
i use it constantly, its fast, free, and reliable

Yeah I use google as well but myphone offers much much more: Contacts, Calendar PLUS Tasks, documents, photos. On the waiting list...
I had no idea google sync worked on winmo phones. Every time I looked it didn't give me any option like that.
Hence post.
Plus, its more comprehensive than google sync. I have used goo sync in the past, and I never liked it at all. It worked, unless my phone got swapped out for warranty or such the license was a pain to renew
yea you set it up as an active sync connection, i started using it when the 1.1 version of android was up and running, it was nice having all my contacts in both windows mobile and android

as an active sync connection? so it sync's my junk frm outlook?
I probably should have specified, as an OTA sync option. That was the only reason I used wireless sync, was for OTA sync of my information.
this is over the air, but you set it up like you would an email account using active sync on the phone, so your outlook contacts wont go into it unless you have it set that way when you sync to your computer
for the full scoop go here

seems to be a cool product for those who use Outlook. I am not one of them, so that wouldn't work for me.
Good to see they got something going on that though.

you don't need to use outlook, you setup an activesync connection w/ google, all your google contacts and calendar sync to the phone and vice versa. i use it to update my google calendar all the time because I don't use outlook at home.
To me, the true virtue of a backup program is the restore function. Has anybody used MyPhone to restore? How easy/difficult was it?

it was actually very easy, had to do a restore tonight, and it was done the exact same way as i set the program up in the first place. didnt have to worry about which way to sync, if i wanted or merge, the program knew what i wanted to do before i told it to do so...
Good but needs work
My Phone is an excellent idea - it does so much and very simply. One of the big showstoppers for me is the lack of a decent calendar - for example the My Phone calendar isn't connected to the Live calendar. I read it's in the works but until My Phone syncs with the Live calendar then it will be only for those who don't do multiple calendars / calendar sharing etc.
I just wish I could sync my sms with google sync. It's the only thing I'm missing
Any way to sync over bluetooth?

thanks, I've found this as well but it is expecive for me i would like something free, perhaps HTC make the htc sync be able to sync over bluetooth and also when connected trough the sync software to get internet on the device, like active sync does to the wm phones
I agree $39.95 seems remarkably rich for something WM could do natively. Does anyone know of any cheaper (preferably free) alternatives?
To much
Yes that is way to much for sync software that (as is) does not even sync your calendar.
I Hope someone will make a cool app because I´m very dissapointed in the HTC Sync
my old wm phone could get internet acces from active sync, thus saving me money from the data plan, htc sync does only calendar and contact sync, this is the only thing I miss from wm, and the only "-" from android
up for this. I'm looking for this apps as well. Thanks...
I've finally found one. It's MyPhoneExplorer and it's free! It can also sync none Android phones. So great app.
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
for a few days now I'm a proud owner of an android(SD)-booting Leo.
I still use WinMo every now and then.
Is there a way to keep contacts and (most important) sms synced? I mean from WinMo to Android and the other way round. I know a lot of apps for contacts, but for sms it's really only WinMo to Android and not vice versa.
TIA,
Arcat
PS: Give me something to answer, only 2 posts (i guess) to signature enabled ,) )
Well you can use your gmail account to sync between winmo and android as far as I know, google it there is a solution I think.
Or you could try this out, not sure if it auto syncs but it can migrate.
http://spb.com/android-software/migration/
Thank you,
already tried googlemail with activesync. works fine, but sms excluded.
http://spb.com/android-software/migration/ is, as always, only from winmo to android and not vice versa.
Have you thought about "MyPhoneExplorer"? Lets you sync with outlook, export SMS, etc... Then you could use activesync on the winmo side...kinda wonky but might fit you needs...
Hi,
I am not sure if someone else asked this question. I updated my phone to Nand Gingerbread. Everything works great. However, the major problem I am having is that HTC Sync (on Win7 laptop) does not recognize the device.
In the previous Android (2.2), when we used to connect it to the PC, many options would appear to identify the type of the connection. One of those options was "HTC Sync". Choosing this option used to allow HTC Sync software on the windows pc to recognize the device and sync its contents.
However, in Gingerbread I cannot find anyway to connect my HD2 in a "sync" mode in order to allow HTC Sync to recognize it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
htc sync requires htc sense.

Had the exact same problem when i was trying out a Gingerbread rom, and thanks to Tann he told me about a program called MyPhoneExplorer
It works with your dilema and you'll be back to syncing:
http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php
And its Free too, cant get any better then that
ooo good find, i looked high and low for an outlook sync solution, cant believe i missed this.
it also seems to include the adb usb drivers, so perhaps this could be installed instead of the whole android sdk for the adb drivers....

Thank you so much. This application seems very useful.
Anyways, my problem is that before I flash my HD2 to Gingerbread, I had Froyo Sense, and I synchronized all my contacts to HTC Sync on my PC, and now after I flashed I found that I cannot get those contacts back...
So I guess my only solution is to flash back to Froyo Sense, get those contacts, sync them using MyPhoneExplorer, and then Flash again to Gingerbread.
Thanks for the help everybody.

HTC Sync uses outlook, you need to look in the setting in the app, you can re-sync your outlook contacts with this program. Thats what its meant for also.

You have to install the tool on your win7 from here.
After that install My Phone Explorer Client from the Market. Connect your phone via WLAN or USB and start the Client on the phone. After that start the app from your win7 and set up your sync source (Outlook/Windows Contacts/Gmail/only MyPhoneExplorer) in settings or via new phone assistent.
You can now sync Contacts/Appointments/SMS/Files/Tasks and Notes (new with separate phone app).
It's the first sync solution where you can sync outlook tasks and notes, I love the tool.

Looks also not bad, but I miss the calendar sync.
And it looks like you can transfer contacts to the phone, but can't sync
changes on the phone or in Outlook.
Can you report please how it works?

For calendar sync, I using Google calendar,it perfect to use,for sync contact, just import contact list's from outlook contact list and connet phone with mobilego, it automatically transfer to your phone, it most likely, lol
