[Q] SMS text message sync - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Anyone found a simple solution to sync texts back and forward between windows mobile & Android. I've seen some solutions which involve exporting, editing csv and then importing... less than ideal!
If only i could sync down/up texts from microsoft myphone on Android - works seamlessly when upgrading winmo roms

Is bumping allowed in this board?
I have the same question. I will mostly be using Android, but I have a podcast manager application which runs on WinMo and which I will be using daily while on the bus for a couple of hours, and I don't want to lose the SMS I receive while in WinMo.
Any solutions?

Outlook SMS Sync Software?

Any available?
I bought Jeyo a long time back but it does not seem to work with my Topaz - only detects the last 3 msgs and as soon as you want Sent Items downloaded...Outlook crashes.
Jeyo are not sure if they are still in business it seems so you just get fobbed off by them.
Then there's PocketExport. Installed the trial version, detects device but no SMS logs etc.
Thanks!
OK so the Jeyo Companion DOES see the msgs...it's just outlook that does not.
I'm going to put it down to potentially 64bit, Office 2007 SP2, Windows 7, Touch Diamond 2 or all 4
Previous successful attempt was with a HTC Diamond 1, Office 2007 SP1, 32bit, and Windows Vista
Hello!
I use this, is verry good Mobile Archiving - sms and call detail archiving.
MobileArchiver integrates the most widely-used communication methods - SMS messaging, email, and calls - into Outlook, one of the most widely used applications. MobileArchiver keeps a history of your SMS messages and call details in Outlook so you always know who contacted you and when.
Downloading now!
Thanks for that - I actually got the PocketExport working with help from their support guys - it turns out that even though I am connected via cable, you need to set PE to Bluetooth and reboot the machine.
It synced up fine soon after the reboot though it then crashed Outlook until I removed the hone.
The other downside is the "From" field is blank unlike Jeyo which had it populated
From the screenshots of your suggestion, it looks to be populated. Wish me luck!
I use True connect from rasberry software, paid for it about 4 years ago and never looked back. I use it every day, however sometimes it does crash outlook 2007, but I just restart the program and it comes back. Also allows you to control your phone using pc keyboard & mouse.
Now that WinMo 6.5 is out i am having issues with TrueConnect. SMS msg remains in outbox folder, and according to support it has something to do with threaded sms
Any of u bright minds have a solution ?
/Smirge
I've now gone over to the dark side and got myself an iPhone
Just got fedup of the inherent issues with the diamond2 - most of which I managed to live with but the aftersales just did it for me!
However, I was running 6.5 until the bitter end and bought [email protected]'s suggstion of MobileArchiving
It was by far one of the best solutions I have seen for SMS and Outlook - something I forgot to say thanks to for the suggestion so apologies for that!
Might be worth trying it out (i think they give you a 15-30 day trial on their site)
Had no issues with 6.5 and that was during the beta stage!
Thanks Akash_84.
I've got an Iphone... wonderfull!!
Do you know a way to export sms from a Diamond to an Iphone??
Thanks in advanced!

software to sync SMS between Android and WM?

Hi all,
My decision to start migrating from WM to Android turned up to be be quite a headache. And here is one of the problems.
For next year I intend to use Hero and HD2 at the same time and I will need to have them synchronized. Main issue is to have synced SMS - I have tried and looked for different options but ended up with nothing.
Ways it could have been implemented:
1. Desktop PC software that allows you to sync both Android and WM devices, including SMS.
2. Something like Sprite Migrate, but software that works both ways.
3. Something like My Phone service by MS but works on all platforms
4. Software that will export txts in some common standard like xml. I tried to export with SMS Backup & Restore and to restore it to WM with Jeyo Mobile Companion but formats are different
5. Others: backing up to SIM, trying to use backup created on Android with Sprite Backup on WM, forwarding sms via bluetooth, etc....
So as you can see, I have tried many options but was was unsuccessful. Any other ideas how to transfer sms from WM to Android?
I think you can save your SMS on your SIM card, but idk if android can read them out of the box.
Sync to IMAP and Gmail
Have you tried syncing to IMAP? I use MobiTnT (SMS Mobile Archiver would also work I think) that syncs to Outlook a folder. This folder can be transferred to G-mail, perhaps even automatically. To synk between Android and Gmail, you have the android sms project: http://code.google.com/p/android-sms/wiki/UserGuide
SMS Migrator
- First, down load http: // wince.nasenbaeren.net / smsimport/ to export SMS from WM then copy it into your SDCARD on Android Phone
- Then go to Android Market to download "SMS Migrator"
See more here: http: // a.baole.org/ sms-migrator
Sorry I can not post URL as I'm a new member

Does SMS migrator, give you the option to merge sms? I got 2k+ on my old WM phone and 300+ on my Eris. I know Sprite Migrate was working on this feature, but I don't think they added it yet.
sorry for the late reply, but i switched from wm to android and transferring sms messages from one platform to another was something i wanted to do also.
*note* ive onlly transferred from wm6.1 to android
1. i went to this site (google "import/export move sms") [i cant post links 'cus im still new] and installed SMS Exporter.
2. exported to mmc/harddrive..
3. installed sms backup and restore from android market
4. moved the exported .xml file to the sms backup app folder
5. imported.
hope this helps.

No, SMS Migrator imports sms and automatically creates sms thread for you.
suggestion: use Google Voice. It's awesome, and would allow you to sync stuff
Well. I just used the SPRITE stuff and it worked. The SMS is a little different cause Android uses threaded SMS. You you think not all of the messages are there, but they are. I didn't see any sorting it in maybe except for the subject.
Migrating contacts worked too. But SPRITE says it will wipe old data, but it doesn't. That means I have double contacts.
The WM app starts going nuts when you view the log. You have to reset the device to continue. But this is after the data is stored in a safe place on your WM device.
It doesn't do appointments. Maybe for that I have to use the .pib of Pimbackup the extract to .cvs and read it.
But the software is in beta. At least I converted it.
Found this topic. But I'm gonna work on something myself. I'm gonna try to extract the SMS to a CSV on WinMo. Write a simpel script to create an XML. And that XML I'm gonna import on Android.

Did you ever write something? I now have a few SMS on the Android side of my HD2 which I would like to sync with the Windows side.
With more and more Android builds coming out for the HD2 I would think an app to sync between the two would be awesome.
I cannot agree more with the previous user. Any ideas on how to sync sms between android and wm???

Windows 6.5 + Exchange 2010 SMS Sync

Hey everybody!
I presume there won't be too many people that will have had experience with the SMS sync feature, so I hope one or two people out there can help me.
I have the problem that everthing is activated, but it only synced the last conversation with my mate (so lets say 2 text messages out of a couple of hundred).
Anyone have an idea how to force exchange to sync ALL the messages?
Using a Touch Pro 2, in case that should help diagnostics move along a bit
Unfortunately i'm having this same issue. I would like to simply recreate the whole SMS/MMC folder in my Exchange box, but havn't found a way to force the behavior. I get the feeling SMS syncing was a last minute thought and not completely fleshed out.
As I said, strange thing is that everything that is coming in on the phone is now being synced...
all the messages prior aren't, with the exception of the 2 sms between me and my mate.
Gotta love Microsoft. Never gets boring....
Has anyone experienced any issues with syncing sms messages on the newer builds of 23xxx? Specifically I've noticed that when I send the messages from Outlook 2010, sometimes (not always) my phone gets really sluggish. The process activesync.exe starts using up tons of CPU usage. I'm currently using a HD2 using Kumar's ROM based on WM 6.5.5 b23569

I can definitely confirm that for my HTC HD Mini. It has a wm6.5.3 stock rom, i had to use Zenyee patch to disable HTC Messaging to get SMS Sync working, because HTC screwed up on that.
And I can confirm, that sending SMS through Outlook 2010 slows down the device and ActiveSync goes up to 98% cpu usage.
Any news on that? A hotfix or something?
Any solutions to this yet? I'm having the same issues + the issue that I can't send sms from Outlook but only from Outlook OWA

you need outlook 2010 to be able to send SMS's from outlook itself, any other version will not work, ive had 2003, 2007 and now 2010, and only 2010 does it.
also ive expirienced my phone being slow and useless when SMS syncing is enabled, its really a pain in the ass.
ive gone through 20 phones in the last 2 months, constantly buying and selling, its getting ridiculous, no 1 phone does everything i want.
all i need is full exchange connectivity (tasks and sms included), mobile office so i can use my spreadsheets, slide out keyboard, 3G, decent camera with flash. its obviously neither android, WM or apple can meet all those requirements.

[Q] Porting WM contacts, messages and calllogs to android and back

Helllo!
I am wondering if there is a programm out there that ports my wm contacts, calllogs and messages to Android and, even more important, back to WM.
It is very annoying, having some messages on the Android system and some on wm. Since WM is my basic OS, I try to find a way, getting the messages i received while using Android back to WM..
Thanks for your help and kindest regards!
Hi, in order to avoid this problem I've done the following:
Transfert from WM to Android:
I used SpriteBackup and SpriteMigrate
You can find how to proceed on their website (SpriteMigrate is free).
Nb: I didn't transfer my agenda as it's synch with my PC (I used HTCSynch to retreive my meetings).
To avoid receiving calls and Sms in WM:
easy... put WM in "flight mode".
You will only be connected under Android.
This will only work if you choose to switch completely to Android.
Ideas but not tested for migration:
You can try also to synch all WM with outlook, then Outlook with Android if you have a sense version (use HTCSynch).
MyPhoneExplorer may also do the trick.

[Q] Moving Contacts etc.

Have a HD2 and recently got an Omnia 7 through Orange and had the following problems and was wondering if I flash to a WP7 on my HD2 will I still have the same? I returned the Omnia and still using the HD2.
I did some seasrches on the fourm but didnt see anything specific, apologies if I missed them ....
Contacts...
I couldnt find a way to trasnfer my contacts (about 300+) from HD2 to Omnia 7 - they are stored in Microsoft MyPhone (WP7 created a different account automatically), in Outlook (couldnt see a way of syncing WP7 with Outlook) and couldnt transfer via Bluetooth (didnt support Object Exchange).
Also, WP7 instisted on downloaded all 700 contacts from my Hotmail to phone - is there a way to keep these seperate?
You would have thought that MS MyPhone should enable the transfer of contact, calendar, texts etc. unless they are stored in a completely different format.
Bluetooth - does WP7, and in particular the hacked WP7 on HD2, allow for objects to be transferred via Bluetooth?
Tethering .... HTC have confirmed with me that the HD7 DOES support tethering but operators remove that functionality. The HD2 does have the capability so I am sure someone will be able to unlock this useful feature.
Sorry guys,
Have I missed something very obvious here?
Does wp7 sync with Outlook to recover contacts, calendar, tasks etc. that are there from hd2 on wm6.5?
How did everyone else copy there contacts over, surely not one at a time?
