so I've created a kitchen for a new windows build (21890), by copying the old kitchen, and adding the new windows build into the copied kitchen. Everything got processed correctly, no conflict of older builds or whatsoever, as the kitchen says the rom is generated correctly.
Then I use the custom ruu to flash the rom, and after 100%, I got a message that the image is corrupted. I rebuild & flash a few times, and it's the same.
So I took the rom, flash it via sd card, and it works! And I thought it could be the cable problem, so I use another cable, on another usb port, and this time round it works. However, subsequent regeneration & flash of the rom fails again. so it's not about the cable/port, something is amiss here.
so enough of long story, what could be the possible reason?? I have been cooking & flashing my own roms w/o problem for the last few weeks except today. So it can't be my notebook problem (which is running on win7 64bit)
anybody? I tried flashing an older rom, w/o problem.
just the new one that I've added the latest build of winmo. No problem flashing from sd card, just not able to flash via usb.
did you install the reliability update for win7 x64 the other day?
ive had issues with using sspl since, sometimes enterbootloader doesnt enter bootloader..
on my win 7 x32 machine at work i have no issues
as i use the 202 spl i tend to use sspl to flash my own roms..

what's reliability update? I checked the updates that happened in the last 2 days, it's just update for MS security essential and windows defender, nothing else.
I suspect it could be the kitchen problem, as I cooked my rom together with radio. Somehow, I moved the source radio nb file, and it appeared to have caused the problem despite me updating the path of the source radio. I disable the radio, cook it, ok. Re-add back the radio, cook it, ok again.
hopefully it stays that way.
BTW, I tried spl 2.00, I can't flash any cook rom ,so those folks who said spl 2.00 is a supercid spl is wrong. I suppose you are able to flash custom rom with spl 2.00 because of sspl? do you need goldcard for sspl, or it can be done like HD?
I'm using the 2.00 spl also and using sspl to flash a new build rom, the OS on PC is W7/32

teh 200 SPL is MFGR, or CID unlocked, which is region free.. or the same as having a gold card.
nothing to do with flashing custom roms, as they still need to be signed by HTC
as sparkie confirms, just use sspl to flash custom roms with it.. (as long as you run sspl while the device is booted not already in 200 bootloader mode).

do I need goldcard to do sspl? Thats what I read before I plunge into hspl few weeks ago.
edit: oh so what you are saying is that the stock spl 1.42 requires gold card to achieve mfgr, whereas 2.00 spl is already mfgr so Ican just do sspl directly w/o any need for goldcard?
I flashed now several times in spl 2.00 mode, when it freezes because I made a not bootable rom, I have to flash the 2.02 rom again and after that i flash again with sspl
it could be the LeoCustomRUU.exe file you have may cause the problem. Who knows? Have you tried hex compare the RUU files?
Hi,
does it possible to flash stock ROM on HD2 if you have HSPL2 on device?
Does it enough to run shipped file, or I have to extract nbh files??
In case that I want to put shipped rom and don't want to uninstall HSPL2..
thank you
Yes, unless you want to send your phone to repair, you don't need to remove HSPL2.
BUT: you need to extract nbh files, as typically stock rom contains SPL and radio, which are overwirtten automatically.
So, if you want to flash ROM only, without the Radio/SPL, I'd advice to extract nbh.
yes you can run the .exe file and instal over USB. You DO NOT need to extract the nbh. It will not reset SPL if you flash over USB.
You have HSPL installed, so just run the .exe, it will install the rom and the radio, and leave hspl installed.
@spamtrash - you appear to think that there are seperate .nbh files for the rom, radio and spl in an official .exe. This is not the case, all three are contained in the single RUU_Signed.nbh.
@sam: apparently you're right, my mistake, apologies.
But: it means, that in case that e.g I have 1.66 ROM & 2.08 radio (flashed separately), it will overwrite Radio as well, so in case if I'll want to upgrade ROM to 1.72 (stock) it will downgrade my Radio as well?
Hmmm... any adivce how to upgrade ROM only from the stock?

correct, flashing the stock will always overwrite rom and radio, (and spl if from sd card only)
the easiest way if you want to use a diff radio is just to flash the radio after the rom, it only takes 2 mins, so its no real bother.
You could take the nbh apart probably, lol, but it seems overkill.
Inner Thought - sspl wont flash radios, , what would happen if you extracted the stock.nbh and flashed it with sspl?, hmmm,,,,,
now I'm happy that I've just used the "right" order:
ROM flash -> Radio fkash.
but: sspl->HSPL, rom->Rom1 -> radio-> Radio1 seems to lead to brick the unit
Anyway: thanks for corrction
Folks,
HD2 from Telstra ( 2nd May ) running 1.66. Tried flashing it with 1.48 and 1.43 Rom's -- so I could then go to HSPL and a custom Rom, but no luck.
The Rom Update Utility starts and tells me I have image version 1.72.841.0, I click to update to 1.43.405.1 ( or 1.48 - have tried both ), then the 4 colour screen which notes 1.66. Then it goes to a HTC screen with a deployment bar, gets to only 1%.......then boom - error 294 invalid vendor id.......
What am I missing here ??
you need to flash thedowngrade from sd card, then you can hspl, and THEN flash from usb
At least your effort got that far.... i couldnt even see the zip open.
OS 5.2.21869
Manila 2.5.20121431.1
Rom 1.72.841.0
If someone can confirm what I need to do with what i'd REALLY appreciate it.
Have the backup rom just incase already.
you missed out all the important info.
what zip can't you open? what phone? what you trying to achieve?
assuming telstra like the op,
1 right click the telstra 1.4 rom .exe choose unzip here, or extract here
2 find ruu signed.nbh copy it to sd card rename it leoimg.nbh
3 phone off hold vol down, tap and release power, keep holding voldown till you see three coloured screen, should quickly change grey and start a card flash.
4 when complete and phone restarts hold vol down to re enter bootloader
5 run hspl as administrator using a usb port round the back of the pc,
6 when it completes, and phone reboots, enter bootloader yet again, and check that it says spl 1.42.hspl.
now, so long as you don't sd card flash hspl will stay and protect against bad flashes, flash what you like.

What 1.48 and 1.43 roms did you try? They need to be Telstra roms, as you can't just use any 1.48 or 1.43 rom and this is what is causing the invalid vendor id error. Once you are back to 1.42.0000 spl (after flashing a telstra rom) you can then run hspl and are then free to flash what ever your heart desires.
I have a Telstra HD2 as well (1.66)...got it recently and will flash it soon.
I don't understand the original poster's concern - why go through all that to flash HSPL, when apparently HSPL2 can be easily flashed over 1.66...which allows you to further flash any ROM ??? Is there a benefit of HSPL over HSPL2 that I am missing?
Thanks in advance
edit: my bad, just read in the HSPL thread that HSPL2 does not work with the telstra hd2.

keep reading, you still have lots to learn, hspl2 doesn't work on telstra.
Oh, my spl is 1.66.0000
I understand I must use HSPL (not HSPL2) on a Telstra ph. but can anyone recommend which rom to use? I've been reading for two days solid and can't decide!
I've copied all the guides etc so hopefully won't have a prob'... am just worried about warranty protection etc if it all goes pear shaped... i just want all this B.S. bloatware OFF MY phone!!!
Thanx in advance once again
I am in the same position, my Telstra ROM is 1.72 running SPL 1.66.0000.
HSPL utility tells me that "Model ID is invalid" or something like that.
okay, one more time.....
only the original hspl works on telstra,
hspl2 does not work. (bad model ID)
you need to downgrade to a 1.4 rom with spl 1.42.0000.
so, get the original telstra 1.49.8xx rom from HERE (registration required)
when its downloaded, move it to its own folder somewhere, then right click the .exe file and choose extract here. (if that option isnt available, install winrar)
when it has extracted, find teh file RUU_Signed.nbh, copy it to your sd card and rename it leoimg.nbh
restart your phone in bootloader mode, it should detect the leoimg.nbh and start to flash
this will reset your spl to 1.42.0000 and now you can use HSPL, and then flash any rom you like.
Thanks for the link to HTCpedia mate. I'd actually just found it myself by performing a thread search on the "Official HTC ROM's" thread. Downloading now.
Stupidly I've had problems after problems trying to get HSPL on my device. I actually started out on this ROM (1.49.x with SPL 1.42.0000). First I tried flashing from my Vista x64 machine, both HSPL2 and HSPL with errors, in my haste I thought I might need update to the latest Telstra ROM 1.72.x with SPL 1.66.0000 so I could use HSPL2 when in actual fact I just had the x64 USB driver problem, of course then the upgrade still didn't allow me to flash and made my situation harder as I had to find this original ROM again to downgrade.
Anyways I hope this works!
It works!
- flash rom back to 1.49.x with SPL 1.42.0000
- run HSPL with device connected via USB
- flash radio using CustomRUU
- flash ROM using CustomRUU
@rainey06au what Radio do you use with your Telstra HD2?
Got my Telstra HD2 running 1.49 last week and it's my first play with Windows Mobile .. couldn't wait to clear the Telstra image from the phone as my provider is Three.
Did plenty of reading and all the posts said to use the original HSPL first, this worked perfect first go.
Once done I tried the new Artemis_v110 rom, was very impressed except experienced 2 to 3 random reboots a day, even more while in YouTube player. Everything else woked well, reception, battery life, and clarity while on calls.
Decided yesterday to try another rom, first cleared all using Task29 format, then loaded HyperROM Ultimate v9.00 WM6.5.X but this didn't get through the first boot .. possibly due to radio required.
Now have flashed back to 1.48.4052 until I research some more.
Anyone recommend a rom and suitable radio for the Telstra HD2, anyone with Three?
Thankx
Thanks. Works a treat!
I knew I had to downgrade but couldn't find an old Telstra ROM.

I am also using Telstra HD2 and recently flashed it with Miri Rom. I like Miri because it doesn't have any customization. It has many versions to choose from, with and without Sense UI. It also retain all the original WM icons and themes which I like.
But like all ROMs, I do experience reboot but only once so far with the new version of Miri v17. One thing to note is the Radio version for the ROM. Make sure you flash the exact correct radio version, down to the sub version, e.g. 2.07.50 is recommended for Miri and not 2.07.51 (which is the Telstra radio version).
Another advise is always flash from pc, not SD card as I have experienced bad flash using SD card.
Hope this helps. Miri is only available from the HTCPedia site.
Yep my radio version is also 2.07.50. I get good battery life out of it using CleanEX_UDT HyperROM Ultra v9.00 (6.5).
I use Lia Glass ROM and FallOut Theme.
Interestingly this ROM and radio has only unlocked 455.54MB RAM, not the full 576MB. There are threads about this and getting the right combo will unlock the remaining RAM and/or improve battery performance.
I am using Radio 2.08.50.05.
Anyone else have the same experience?

look in settings about phone hardware info ram size.
I bet it says 576
that's cos the hardware takes 128 for graphics.
look st a standard rom and hardware will show 448 whilst total available will show 336
Thanks samsamuel.
Hardware info does in fact say 576MB RAM
Thanks for the explanation - slowly but surely getting my head around the intricacies of the device
I did a little searching around the forums but some of the answers posted to similar questions didn't really help, plus most of them were links to other threads.
Ok so heres my situation:
I recently upgraded to 2.13xxxxxx ROM from the T-Mobile HD2 website. Im having difficulty with the touch sensitivity and i have tried a cab file someone posted that tweaks the registry. I guess it worked but anyways. Since Flashing and tweaking i decided i want to revert back to the Stock 2.10xxxxx ROM that came with my phone. I plan on Flashing with custom roms in the future.
My question is simply, what do i need to do to flash my rom from 2.13xxxx back to 2.10xxxx with stock radio 2.8xxxxx. I have visited xmoo's thread with stock roms but im still unsure of what im doing since i just got this HD2 recently.
Heres some additional info,
Currently i run:
2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE ROM
ROM Date: 4/28/10 (Leaked?)
Radio version: 2.10.50.26
When i updated my ROM from 2.10 to 2.13 i use the USB Active Sync method suggested on the Tmobile download website. I didn't flash from the SD Card
EDIT: I went into Bootloader mode and what i see is this:
SPL-2.10.0000 8G XE
Does that mean anything?
I heard a lot of talk about doing something to ur HSPL and SPL or something, but i have absolutely no idea wtf people are talking about lol.
So if someone could give me the details as to how i can flash my rom back to stock, that would be helpful. And yes, i have read the tutorial about flashing your first GSM, still dont get it.
flash via SD card
I did the same thing and what you need to do is take this link and make a folder somewhere and right click on the winrar file and extract here to the folder you made and take the nbh file and rename this (LEOIMG.nbh) and place it on your sd card make sure its on the root of the sd card and not in a folder. Here are some instruction i used.Good Luck,ping33tx P.S remember that you will have to redo the spl and run the hspl again, once that's done your home free to flashing till you get tired of it,lol.
NOTE (PLEASE READ): If you flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card then it will overwrite your HardSPL with a stock SPL included in the nbh file. If you flash a v2.01 or later Rom (with SPL2.*) you will NOT be able to reinstall HardSPL onto your device and could end up bricking it. This does not apply to custom roms as they do not include an SPL. BE CAREFUL!!
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device

EDIT:
I did some searching and found some threads where peoples custom roms are BASE 2.13. Can i just flash those roms on my current version if i don't downgrade to 2.10? Cause if theres custom roms that works with my current version then im more than ok using those.
since im here, im a little confused with why some custom roms say, 6.5.5 or 6.5.X. Does that mean i need windows mobile 6.5.5 to use those roms or does it mean something else?
AND
Ive seen some custom roms that have a number like 23475 (for example), is that the OS build needed to run the rom or the Custom rom's build?
My current build is: 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Thank you everyone for your help!

that's the winmoversion used in the rom. 6.5.3 and 6.5.5 are updates to the current released winmo, 6.5
i think 6.5.3 is just about being shipped but .5 isn't official yet.
the big difference is the start button on the bottom of screen and slightly more finger friendly menus.

Almost the similar issue
I had a stock tmobile hd2. I never did any customizations to the phone or any kind of hard spl. Today I installed the tmobile official update that set my SPL to 2.10 making it incompatible with the hardspl tool.
I want to just flash a stock rom through the sd card, and revert the spl back to 2.08 so it can be compatible with the hardspl tool and then I can install the energyROM.
I downloaded the 2.01 stock rom from the rom thread in the leo forum, and right before I was going to rename the file and flash the SD card I read a post above saying that if I revert this back to a stock SPL version, and then try to run hardSPL, I will brick my phone. Is that true??
Suggestions??

flash 2.10.0 from sd card to reset spl to 2.08
You don't need to flash 2.10.0 from sd card to reset from 2.10 SPL to 2.08 SPL. You can flash 2.10.0 over activesync (using the .exe linked to in xmoo's thread) and the SPL will be reverted to the 2.08 version.
Thank you to everyone who posted and a special thank you to samsamuel for clearing things up. Maybe this thread will come in handy for people wondering the same thing.

Hi everyone!
Been surfing the web and xda for solutions to this for 5 hours straight and I can't find anything that helps me with my problem. Can't find a thread about it either, so I hope you guys can help me.
So I got my HD2, trying to run Android on it via NAND, but first off I'm not able to use MAGLDR; When the HTC-screen with the progress bar comes up, but just locks up on 0%.
I google it, and look it up here, seems i need to run HardSPL and get a new to get this badboy to work, but when i try running that, i get the error message "Bad spl".
Now where do i go from here? Did i miss something when looking for the info?
If anyone has a solution to my problem, I would be thrilled.
And if you need any info, just post and i'll provide whatever info you need!
Thanks in advance!
I've got the same problem. Already got the original 3.14 WM rom and darkstone froyo superram installed.
Today I wanted to flash to a NAND rom, but had the same problem as you. Could have something to do with HardSPL not flashing the stock 3.03 SPL.
I'm also waiting for help
Hello,
I also ran into the same problems as you guys. It very important that you flash a rom that a HASPL lower then version 3. I notice that 3.14 stock rom comes with version 3.xxx of HASPL what made it impossible to flash to 2.08 HASPL what is also needed for MAGLDR 1.11.
So I flashed a the 1.66 stock rom version from my SD card then there was an older HASPL present on my hd2. So far, so good. Then i flashed to MAGLDR 1.11. But my hd2 won't start up anymore. Just the white HTC screen. The reason was that my radio version wasn't the right one. It has to end on x.50 and not x.51. So I flashed a x.50 version of the radio. Then I flashed MAGLDR and I was on my way again for android nand flash.
Hope this helps ...
Grtz
Check your radio version
I have the same problem like you,
I resolve the problem when I change the radio version to Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14
P.S. When you flash with some old official ROM you also change radio ROM
now everything work
If you have SPL 3.03, you cannot flash HSPL 2.08 directly into it. It will not work.
So if you have a HD2 device with 3.14 HTC HD2 official firmware, you will have SPL 3.03.
You must downgrade your SPL 3.03 to SPL 2.xx or SPL 1.xx before HSPL 2.08 can be installed.
US T-MOBILE HD2 (1024MB ROM)
You need to find 2.10.531.1 or 2.13.531.1 OFFICIAL FIRMWARE from T-MOBILE website.
You cannot use 3.14.531.1, which is the thing that gave the SPL 3.13 in the first place.
You need to extract from the EXE file using 7-ZIP or WinRAR RUU_signed.nbh, and rename RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh and put it on a FAT32 MicroSD card, then turn off your device, hold volume button, then turn on the device.
PRAY.
HTC HD2 (512MB ROM)
You guys are lucky.
Goto HTC's website, choose the country where your phone is from.
Download 2.xx or 1.xx version of the official ROM
Extract RUU_signed.nbh and rename it to leoimg.nbh, then copy to FAT32 MicroSD Card.
Turn off the device, hold volume button, then turn on the device.
After the SPL is no longer 3.13, use HSPL3_PK and update to HSPL 2.08
Remember to flash your radio to 2.15.50.14.
