I'll be switching phones cause I managed to get a free upgrade when I tried to return my eris for a broken trackball.
I just wanted to thank all the devs on these boards for all their hard work and making it possible for me to have a much cooler device. I've even learned a lot about the tech and even some basic coding. Its very enjoyable.
Thanks again, if you're a dev and ever in columbus, oh, send me a pm. I'll buy you a beer.

Well my only option was a droid 2, which I know is pretty much the same thing as a regular moto droid, but considering my friend runs his at 1250mhz OC its a 500mhz upgrade.
Also wanted to say I particularly enjoyed kaos' version of froyo, listybo1's nonsensikal, and zach.xtr's 2.1. (my battery life was insane with xtrSENSE) thanks.

Its not just a 500 Mhz upgrade. You can't compare the CPU in the Droid 2 to the one in the Eris. Its apples and oranges. The Droid 2 is light years ahead of the Eris.

It's awesome to be on the receiving end of so many interesting tweaks and upgrades. I wish the carriers and phone developers would treat us as good as these guys!
I'm actually pretty surprised that HTC doesn't troll the forums for developer talent.

Heh! I'm not a dev (briefly tried it a little) but just had to say that I'm in Columbus, Ohio, also. I live close to downtown right now, used to live on the North end near Worthington, and before that lived in Southern Pines, near Obetz.

Hey everyone.
Well sadly, and happily the time has come for me to move on to another device. The epic, while having great potential just did not hit the mark. While many of you may disagree, etc, the truth is simple; The Epic4G had much more potential than Samsung/Sprint allowed it to have.
So now I say my farewell to the Epic dev community. I will still be around, and if you need to contact me you can do so via PM, or find me in IRC @ irc.freenode.net #G2x
As some of you know, I recently decided to switch carriers to T-Mobile, and I am getting a G2x. My new device arrives tomorrow, and I am quite excited to begin dev'ing on a new phone, with a lot more power.
Good luck to everyone, and I hope to see you on the other side
We're going to miss you. Thanks for all you've done.
Thanks Dameon you did SO much for this community

Have fun with the new device.
I've read reviews on it, and it looks to be plagued with battery life issues and random reboots on stock. So I'm sure you'll make that community very happy with fixes.

Easy fix for that... resurrect your continuum and come back to the fold.
So get this. This chick I know had a DX2 and the screen wouldn't work right for her. I saw on facebook she was selling it so I asked how much and she said $20. I think maybe I can get it working and for 20 bucks, why not. I buy it from her a couple hours ago, plug my charger in and it works just fine. So I got a DX2 for $20 and I'm sorry to say it but I might not be around here as much. But thank you so much everybody for all you have done for the Continuum. When I first got it I was a little disappointed but after all the hard work from everybody it made the Continuum awesome.

One day I was on the verge of smashing my continuum after failed verizon and samsung support for this device. Tired of the same old crap I scoured the internet far and wide looking for ways to improve my experience before giving up. Then a friend referred me to this forum, and I must say that I no longer have the urge to flush my phone like the piece of crap it once was! I have been silently scoping the forum daily until today when I decided that the very least I can do is register to give thanks to the many such as yourself who have invested time into making this device what it is today. Thank you for making me not want to break my phone

yep the devs here are great... i love my little Hero.
They actually did this before and switched us back because of the uproar. I doubt we will see the enthusiasm of the days of yore. Too many people have left us with the outpouring of 4g choices and enough built in memory to not have to use a tweak such as Firerat's.
It doesn't matter where we are located, it' still good of a device for devs not to take up the challenge to get something impossible running on it. Remember "they" said we didn't have the hardware to run froyo. I guess the reality is that they didn't have the balls.

Hey everyone,
I was just curious (and a noob so forgive me), I have been noticing a lot of developers switching off to other phones with the departure of jt1134 and the disappearance of ccampos.
Could the Samsung Fascinate's end of life be near? I know there are still developers working but lets face it, the Fascinate isn't as popular as it once was now with the Galaxy Nexus and the Droid Razr.
Well anyways post your thoughts if you agree or disagree that the Fascinate's death is close at hand or not.
Considering my old Eris still has support, I doubt it. Many people won't be due for an upgrade until later this year into early next year, plus the hardware is still very good. JT/sbrissen have done quite a bit of work, and since the Fascinate is a CM supported device we'll see that continue as well.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
I hope support stays around for the fascinate for a while. The fascinate is a great phone and i don't plan on changing phone as long as i can keep my fassy up and running.
Completely disagree, literally 4 new ice cream sandwich ROMS were released in the passed two days. Check the development thread...

What has been the case historically with older phones such as the Eris that sarkozy mentioned? I would hope that as old developers leave, new ones arrive.
Plenty of people still working on this phone. I had an Eris and they are still deving for it too. I get bored and flash stuff on there every once in a while just to see whats new and poppin.

I just picked up a fascinate almost a month ago now. I was coming from the Droid 1, that still sees quite a bit of development. And the Droid as much as I loved it comes nowhere near being as smooth or responsive as this phone. So there is deffinately no hardware restrictions I see causing an end of the road issue. While I havent been around to see what the dev community was, it still seems to be quite healthy from what I've seen lately. Its inevitable that developers move to newer devices but that also opens doors for others to step up to the plate. And as long as there is enough people interested and thankfull for software I think that there will be developers out there willing to work on it.

I think we should find a way to help those guys, teamhackingsung along with independent developers are working hard to get ICS up on our fassy. I wish I knew how to code or I would be all for helping them out, I have to give them much respect for what they do to fix these phones left without a paddle (so to speak). I still find it amazing how some developers do it for free and just want a simple thank you, does anyone know how to code? I really want to help these guys.
Dang...I feel for you guys. I used my Fascinate as an MP3 player for a while after I got my Nexus. Then one day I decided to flash one of JT's newest builds and it wouldn't boot and couldn't get into recovery. Didn't feel like odining and it's been sitting by my router ever since.

In all seriousness, I believe that the Facinate and its developers will be here for the long haul. As long as there are phones out there and people don't have the $$'s to upgrade as often as they like do to the economy. This is my 3 cents worth.

The Epic was my first smartphone, so it will always have a special place in my heart, however, the time has come for me to get a new device. I got the Optimus G yesterday and it is amazing. I don't have the Epic anymore, so I probably won't do a whole lot more for it unless someone asks me to make a ROM that is unique from the other ROMs available (IE: I will not spend time making a ROM that looks and behaves nearly identically to CM, considering that we already have great CM builds). The loss of the keyboard is surprisingly not as difficult as I would have guessed. I hope to see some of you over at those forums, but to the ones who I don't, I will miss you.

I've been here since the Epic came out, and it's been a good run. My Epic's usb port has finally succumbed to the ravages of time, making it nearly impossible to charge - looks like I'll be moving on the gs3 forums soon. Thanks Xbox for all the amazing ROMs, support, and dedication making this phone last far beyond any other phones of it's time. Love seeing people's brand new phones with inferior software than that of my 2 year old epic! Keep on keeping on man. Optimus G folks don't know what they are about to get

Kenny was refering to the discussion of other phones.. Not the Goodbye in general to Xboxfanj.
Verizon 4g lte is amazing to say the least. SwiftKey Flow is now my way of getting around the physical keyboard i still miss from my epic 4g.Even after i gave it to my girlfriend i knew I'd never have the same feeling of waiting for my favorite roms to update and getting new kernels for ICS that was the climax of the Epic for sure.. really appreciate the work you've done on the Epic Xbox, I hope the Optimus community enjoys your future work as you continue to improve their phones .

Go with an Optimus if you can. My dad has the S3 and it is nice, but worse than the OG. I'll miss all you. Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Good luck to all of you.

By the time I saw your suggestion, I already had my S3, so I didn't get a chance to check out the Optimus. I like the S3 though, so it's all good (trying to swap phones now would be more of a hassle than the account holder is willing to go through, lol). I must say that while I will always miss my hardware keyboard, the larger screen on the S3 makes it easier to live with. I'm rooted but holding out with the stock rom for a bit so I can properly assess the improvements on the custom roms (and so I can finish this semester without more distractions - playing with a new phone is more than enough of a distraction already lol)
Kenny - I think I'll be headed for the People's Rom first
