Do you think this would be possible or would it be a mammoth unthinkable task to take on?
Its something i really like about android, and alot of other handsets to be honest having the animated smileys as opposed to just the characters. It would seem only one guy has ever taken up this task before in the form of smiley sms.
Any thoughts always welcome

However, it obviously makes sense for someone to cook it so that the iphone looking front end is cooked into a good rom with the stability of a
schraps, or a black satin, etc.
I have tried setting it up separately, but I am a newbie, and have bricked 1 hermes already trying reset it after I screwed it up.
Has this not happened because of the sensitivity on the matter or something else?
Again looking for rom load that uses the apple looking screen already cooked to a rom for a hermes (HTC wm6)

Claunch is a today plugin that launches applications. Why do you need it cooked in ?! What you're showing in your picture is a regular iPhone. What are you talking about exactly ?
Making the hermes look like an iphone

What I was trying to say is that they have the skins now to make the hermes (or I guess any wm6 phone) look like an iphone.
But I find the apps/skins not the easiest thing to use/get right/tweak.
Launch on start up etc.
So what I was trying to spit out was has anyone cooked the proggy/skin that does this into a rom so it doesn't to be tweaked.

I dont understand why this Iphone home screen suppose to be such good think.
The most important thinks that I need in my first look would be my appointments, outstanding task etc. Iphone screen just provides shortcuts for some applications. Well I may not get really what is it about.
Anyhow you can do such thing without any issues and any special rom. what you need is the Iphone icons (I am sure there are hundreds in the web) then the wisbar advance Desktop.

Love it or hate it, the simplicity of the iphone, skin, is it is good looking and functional.
It is also the benchmark that all other phones will be measured against for a long time (as the phone has not arrived outside the US yet).

I am sure someone has cooked it all in one.
It wouldn't be worth cooking claunch into rom. It's a tiny app, and the pleasure of it is customising it to launch the apps you want to launch.
I've written several guides for claunch, hunt around. But it's a simple app.
What might be useful is if someone makes an all-in-one iphone-alike pack. And those probably do exist. Burning claunch into ROM wouldn't be very helpful.

I am trying to customize an Iphone based theme that will have one screen serve as contacts, which will act the same way the contacts screen does on the cube. but where i fall short is how do i pass an argument to the phone app that will allow the phone to dial the person once i save their contact info as one of my icons. If what im asking is not clear. just let me know and i will try to clearify it the best i can, thanks for any help in advance.

I was wondering, if it would be possible to have an new Tab in Manila wich only contains plain text. I would love to have notes or maybe new years resolutions etc. displayed in this tab. This would be awesome and it doesnt seem that its very hard to make such an app. But I have no experience in developing apps after all...

I realise that this post is a /few months/ late. In fact, it's a new year =P
I also have only very little experience with programming and I am very interested in making something like this too.
Have a look at m9editor as well as Manila Editor. I am currently looking at m9editor (and also learning about it as well!). I think that the tabs will be relatively straight forward enough to add. However, the text on the screen is a different matter as it's not a matter of simply typing text. We need to write a .lua file in code.
Since I have never heard of .lua (programming language), it will take some time.

My wife just got a new G1 phone and the only feature i truly wish i had was her text messaging system. The way it organizes her txt's makes it much easier to understand.
Any ideas on how i could get something similar to this on my touch?
Try sms-chat, a program found here on xda, as far as i can see it does the same as the G1 sms-messaging system...

one thing I used to love on my Sony Ericsson phones was the EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service), mainly the little animations. For those who don't know EMS lets you include preset animations or sounds in texts by sending them as a code. The receiving phone then reads that code and shows it's version of the same animation/emoticon/sound.
Sadly the Diamond doesn't have this and I miss it a lot as they really brighten up texts. I believe though that the SE Xperia X1 does have EMS support so I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this onto the Diamond?

anyway I'm afraid I can't help you, also I think the x1 doesn't have the animations,it is really a htc device with an se badge.
I believe microsoft has to add the function to the messaging app for it to support the animations, but I don't think it'll happen.

I had read that the X1 had EMS but obviously that info was inaccurate. However, surely this can be added with a software app and doesn't need M$ to implement it. I have found a few old topics referring to certain apps but they're all so old the links are dead or just go to something unrelated.
Anyone know which apps are available these days?

Thanks for that link, I had seen that before but doesn't that just enable the use of an EMS client and still leave us needing that actual client?
So is there no good EMS service for the Diamond?
