[Q] [Q's] Setting up Android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I only just found out we can have android on the HD2, I've added FroyoStone (http://gamesquare.co.uk/froyostone.htm) and just found out I need the 2.08 SPL (Right?) so I can have sound in calls. As I am going to have to do that I may aswell re-start from scratch.
Can you help with a few things please.
What HD2 Rom should I use? Read miri and chunky are good for android (think that's the names).
Can I get Microsoftmyphone on android? If not what's the best way to back up and add them back to the android system?
What are the best Android roms?
Let me know anything else you think is useful too please.

Chunky? haha... its Chucky.... funny thou
I used to use Active-sync to Sync my contacts with Google.... But once i discovered My-phone i simply disabled Active-sync and was able to upload my contacts to My-phone.. SO it should work the other way around.... Any WM ROM is good as long as it is Android Friendly...
As for Android build... It depends in you preference like with or without Sense... Bangsters ROM allow you to edit the Startup.txt to chose your DPI and set the Amount of Space you want Android to use ex 512MB 1024MB(1G) and so on...
Yes you need 2.08 SPL.. as well as a .50 Radio to avoid Sound issues
Radio :: 2.12.50.02_2 :: is the one I'm using with Miris Barbones WM ROM

[Q] winmo 6.5 and android

hello, i flashed my phone to energy X to can use android, now i dont like that energy so i wanna know is there a option to have my normal winmo 6.5 interface and everything in my Language (dutch) and still the option to boot android?
thnx, Iefem
yes thats possible.
you just need a radio above 2.07 (its necessary, that its a .50 and not a .51 one).
hf & gl
DN41
okay so if i just have the normal winmo and i upgrade to a other radio and i download like froyo 2.2 or something like that and i open the clrcad and the haret then it suppose to work?
btw i cant open clrcad?
and is there some tut how to downgrade to winmo 6.5 cause i have now the chuckyrom
you don't really downgrade to stock winmo, it's just another NBH file. You can get the stock roms with a short search in the WinMo roms sections here. You've already flashed at least one rom so the process is exactly the same, just with a different rom base.
clrcad when you open it appears to do nothing, don't worry. so long as you've clicked on it before haret you'll be fine.
so if i install a winmo rom and i have radio 12.50 it work?
thank you guys for the help, greetz iefen
Well that's some of the requirements yes. Please read the stickies in the development thread, they contain lots of helpful links, howto's and other good info.
sory but i cant find it. can you say the requirements of winmo 6.5 and android
and do u know where i can get other langeuge winmo 6.5's
thnx
Greetz, Iefen

[Q] My HD2 has arrived is it wrong that I am excited ?

Hi Guys MY HTC HD2 has arrived I am excited about getting this dual booting and more so about Android !
I am going to try Chuckys WM ROM combined with MDJ's Android.
32gb mem card already formated to FAT32 downloaded HSPL and boot loader and Radio so all ready to go tonight when I get home from work !
Anything else I need to know ?
Depending on what's already on the phone (assuming it's a new one), you may not need HSPL and then a ROM flash. The latest stock ROM comes with a radio version 2.15.50 which is great for running Android. If that's the case then you'll just need Android and a bootloader (not that you really need a bootloader, but you know what I mean.)
When you turn it on, look for the numbers in the bottom left of the screen. The version number prefixed with an "R" is the radio.
If you do need to upgrade the radio, then your list above is all you'll need.
Enjoy!
Hey guys just thought I would post my experience.
Phone arrived yesterday as I said my phone was running a non compatible android radio so I upgraded to HSPL then upgraded radio to a .50 then used the stock WM6 rom with DROID Sense 0.8 but I found that I could get no WIFI or MObile Data at all.
I then installed MDJ Evolution 1.7 and have been running since yesterday perfectly everything works perfect !
Just some questions:-
How do I backup my data is it just the data.img file I need for all apps downloaded etc ?
I notice that when I synched with my outlook I have multiple contacts i.e. because I have them listed as business card with several contact numbers so I presume there is no way around this ?
Whats the best way to get hotmail on the phone via web browser or is there a windows live type plugin ?
Loving the Android I must say its my first experience with Android anyway but loving the HD2 and Android and the ability to keep WM in case a WM7 ROM surfaces
Thanks for your advice and help on here guys !

if you want to go directly to desire HD builds then that is your prerogative, but don't whine if ever it lags.
You have HSPL with stock rom? May I know the link of the particular winmo rom you used?

The following WM6.5 and Droid Builds work really well for me, just make sure you re-format the sd card on the WM rom and also change the screen time-out to 'never' before booting from the droid folder. The ROM and Build links are below:
WINMO ROM:
http://htcpedia.com/kwbr_HD2_com3/so...om.html?page=1
DROID BUILD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793924
Hope you find it as good as I have, just make sure to HSPL before-hand, this is the Nexus One droid build and i've only had one small problem with hearing people on calls, but that fixed itself after a couple of uses. The build is very stable and reliable and also battery life is good (No outstanding BUILD is the best for battery as it really depends on the RADIO you use) .

Even though your going to be using droid all the time anytime you switch off the device, without a bootload option between WM and DROID you will always need a WM ROM to use as a platform to boot droid.
The ROM i use is a very low-key ROM and dosnt take up that much memory.
Plus the RADIO is what ultimately makes the good data connections and battery power etc so you will need both.
The way I have my build the droid battery drain issue is minimum (in my experience) to other builds, its stable, fast and it works well. Just make sure to install LauncherPro once you boot er up.
Just remember though if you restart your phone for any reason it will go back to the WM ROM on boot-up unless you have a BOOTLOADER installed so you can choose between either.
Hope this helps

Going from Win Mo 6.5 to Android

Gents,
Apologies if I have missed this in another thread (I did do a search!) or if this si the wrong forum
Has anyone gone from Win Mo 6.5 to Android on their HTC HD2? Was it easy to do? What files would I need to back up etc? And is it worth doing?

Apologies accepted since you missed alot of threads ! Most of us have Android on our HD2's .
It was very easy but you must do somethings first to guarantee a working Android on your HD2 . (Read the Guide on my Sig. )
You don't need to backup anything as the current Android doesn't touch your internal device memory (i.e. WinMo system files) It will run off your sd card.
Have fun

I ran EVO android from SD without having to mod my OEM phone.
Just make sure you do follow the directions and update the kernel as some may leave the kernel out of the bucket of legs and thighs.
It did mess with my time and date everytime I booted back into the phones OS but everything else pretty much was the same.
No speed improvements, may be a wee faster if loaded on phones memory.
Evertything the EVO Android had I had on my OEM phone, just different names on some apps.
Once I got my WM6.5 setup properly Android was usless to me.
Like linux it is a sloooooooooo booter. That is the deal breaker for me.
I like 30 second boots at the most. 20 seconds for a desktop is slow!
HD2 will live!!
HD2 with its name LEO is really a king to the jungle out there with its new era of a great processor, an outstanding screen and a sexy look!!
Wm 6.5 is fine but android really excells in combining wm and ios and making a neat interface with user friendly handling!
I'm so meticulous with my device and using stock rom and radio, i tried android from one of the great builds done by MDJ (thanx a lot to him)
It doesn't do any harm coz i didn't need to upgrade rom nor ram and everything is dealt with thru sdcard
if u don't like it; just format or erase the android folders or just leave it there if u have a big memory
it's awesome by all means!! give it a try u wont loose anything!!
TMOUS stock rom 2.10 and radio 2.08

Hi there
Are you saying, that you've managed to run adndroid on your leo with stock Rom and radio? Thing is, that I would also like to try android on my handset, but I'm too scared to hurt it in any way - hence not too keen on changing rom / radio - which seem to be only way according to info I've managed to find so far
Would you care to share your phone configuration, to see what you're running?
Many thanks.

Your current configuration won't run Android. It needs a radio of at least 2.08.50 (MUST be a .50, NOT a .51!!!) The ROM is irrelevant - only the radio matters to Android.
There is an official ROM upgrade available that takes you up to a 3.14 ROM with a 2.15.50 radio, but I don't know if you can use that without HSPL as you have a branded handset.
It may be possible to just upgrade the radio, from the HD2 ROMs thread, and leave your Windows ROM as it is.

They are two separate systems - WinMo in the phone's ROM and Android on the Phone's SD Card.
The only real requirement is that your RADIO must be at least 2.08.50 (any one higher than that with a .50 will do). So you need to know what software you already have:
Settings -> About phone -> Software information. Here you will see the Rom, Radio versions. If the radio is not correct, then we'll go through the procedure on how to update it.
The chefs in the Android ROM section give details on what you download and how to set it up.
As for backing up, there should be no need to (as they are independent systems), but better safe than sorry; install SPB Backup. Even if you weren't thinking of running Android, having a backup is always advisable.
mismatch
I have a bootscreen on WM that shows 3.14 as the ROM but in Settings/phone/ software information it still shows 1.48 and a date of 09/29/10.
Is this normal? does this mean my upgrade failed?
Radio release is same on both - 2.15.50.14

Don't worry about what is says when Windows is running. The value shown then is from the registry, so it can be changed. Have you done a restore from a backup application by any chance?

Just spending five minutes in reading a bit doesn't hurt you know, but we'll help you:
1- SD Android doesn't overwrite windows, you're actually using SD like a phone memory. when you reset you'll be back to WinMo and will have to run Android again.
2- What's working and not working is always mentioned in the original (first) post of every build. From my brief experience with American Android, Wifi, Camera, and GPS are working, you have to try the other features and let the developer know if something isn't working well for you. make sure to post your whole info: HD2 TMo or EU, Radio, What WinMo you're using (not very helpful but wouldn't hurt writing it anyway), and what Android version have you downloaded.
3- As long as the radio is 2.XX.50.XX you're fine.
check your SPL version though, I've never tried Android with SPL 3.X some say it doesn't work.
4- You can dual boot (or triple or even quadruple boot) Android with windows as long as your multiple android builds support having more than one beside them (and a bit of your luck as well) the program is just a shortcut for you not to use FExplorer to run Android :/ so the answer would be yes.
when you run android and have some problems, you can use search because there are many threads to solve almost every problem you'll have with android, one of them being mine (in my signature).
