no, only the droidx and evo i think have that. none of the Galaxy S phones use it because they display video via wireless DLNA (to any T.V, PS3, 360, ext... )
It does have wired video out, but not HD.

TV Out

Is there any apps for TV out on desire ?
i don't think the desire has an TV out, but maybe aa software dlna player would help. (not for tv out but if you have a dlna compliant TV you could share over wifi)
i want to show the pictures on my desire on the tv - it will be great -
As mentioned million times before: No its not possible and (most likely) wont ever be. Its a hardware thing. Sorry Mate

there must be a way to bypass the display out to the usb.
the same thing worked with the first psp back then. you could connect your psp with your computer via usb, and play watching your pc monitor
its not the desire but some input:

Tv out issues

Anyone get this working yet? I can't seem to get it going. I bought a standard a/v 3.5mm cord from radio shack. Tried it on multiple tvs but no sound or video comes through. Did I get a bad cord or are there others out there having this same problem?

You turned on "TV Out" in the Sound and Display Settings, right?
Yes of course. I even tried both pal and ntsc for every tv I tried it on

I had issues at first because I hadnt selected the TV out (oops!) and apparently, you can't play Avatar through it.
... but oh well

My video out was red and my audio out was white and yellow oh well at least it works.
Now I have to get a PS3 to test the video out on the all share wifi system
Seems like the best way to do video out is to use DLNA (run "AllShare") and then playback on a compatible device like a HTPC (windows media player if you have windows 7) or an xbox/ps3 etc. However, it seems that avatar isn't an option for playback through this method either - DRM issues I guess?

LMAO. Yeah i tried the reversed cables too because it wasn't working at first but turns out the cables were correct
I didn't even bother testing the DNLA on the PS3 last night. Was busy fighting with market to get it to work, settings, etc... ha. oops! i'll try that out tonght!

I can double check when I get home, but it was just a generic cable that I got for my husbands car which requires the RCA output to be fully plugged in. (cant just do audio, even if it is only audio that I'm trying to play, strange!)
Why do this

hope this helps. i have a few of these av cables (from different cameras and ipods) i noticed that the generic av cables that work with the ipods also work with the vibrant. the ones that work with my video cameras but not the ipods also do not work with the vibrant. (they all similarly have the 3 black stripes on the jack)

Same here.

At first, i thought it didn't work, until i realized the 3.5mm jack on the Vibrant is a little tight, and I didn't push it all the way in. Works like a charm.

Does MT4G do video out

like the Vibrant?
Thanks,
ive used screen share through dlna it uses wifi and a dlna compliant tv. works great.
It doesn't do video out through the headphone jack like the Vibrant does. You can buy a micro USB-video out but I haven't tried it. Saw it here:

TV Out
I tried to find out if our myTouch 4G could do TV out and have gotten nowhere. I'm tempted to try out the link and order the device as I don't have a DLNA television yet.
I read on a different thread that it doesn't have the hardware to do video out. I believe this because there's no setting for it like on the Raphel.
DLNA (UPNP) is clearly "the future". But much like bluetooth it will probably be several years before it is commonplace. I bet you get 3 new phones before you get a new TV.
FWIW, I did try the DLNA to a PS3 and it does work very well.
I just hooked it up with the USB cable to a BlueRay player that has a USB input. With some fiddling around, it brought up the pictures but not the video. That might be due to the format of the video. I will try converting one to another format and see if it works for video also.
The BlueRay player is 2009 vintage, so newer ones might handle the 3gp format.
Please post questions in the Q&A section.

As far as I know it's only possible if you have a DLNA enabled tv. Those are the internet ready ones.

Sorry, but have to ask - does your TV support it? What is the model#?
If it does, you should be able to enable it then just turn on screen mirroring on your phone.
My Samsung TV doesn't have the option for screen mirroring built in, but I accomplish it with what I do have - the MHL HDMI dongle and the allshare cast. One is a direct connection, the other is wireless.
I'd imagine it works the same as the allshare cast hub. When it's on,all I need to do is turn on screen mirroring from the notification window and it automatically connects to it. If you share the model of your TV myself or someone can look it up. Or you can check out your manual first then go from there. Without knowing what you have, here's an example :
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/howtoguide/N0000058/6528/41579/UN55ES6500FXZA
AFAIK it has to be a newer model for the mirroring without the dongles. : http://developer.samsung.com/forum/thread/is-it-possible-to-test-screencast-using-eclipse-simulator/141/219986#post1
Hope that helps.
Can a rooted phone screen mirror? I just got a new 60in samsung but I cant get mirroring to work. It connects and then drops a few seconds after.

I had to update the ROM in my smartv before I could connect my phone to the TV and then toto the phone. Some samsung devices can mirror the TV as well as have the TV.

LN32D403E4DXZA specifications don't indicate built-in support for miracast. So you would need to get either the Allshare cast, or another miracast adapter like the netgear push2tv (PTV3000 or PTV2000) to be able to mirror your phone to the TV.

...or the other option is just to run the wired MHL HDMI connect to mirror - like this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-HDTV-Adapter-ET-H10FAUWEGWW/dp/B00BTCPQ5C/

Certainly.
Personally, I find that short cable inconvenient, but that's just me. If the goal is to play movies on the phone and mirror to TV, sure. But I end up wanting to share pictures or short videos taken on my phone, on the big screen. For that, I would prefer the ability to have the phone with me (on the couch) and not have to stand next to the TV with that short cable connecting it to my phone.
For now, I'm using the Roku (juice channel) to share local video/pictures, but is not the best option because it doesn't let me share my pictures/videos from dropbox or other online storage sites. I have to download it to my phone first.
Waiting for the wireless mirroring options to drop further in cost

For sure! I prefer not to have it directly connected -but was more for the sake of informing the OP.
I use the mhl dongle it like you mentioned, if we're watching something that doesn't require me to babysit the phone lol.
I got lucky when Samsung was having a 50% off promo and I picked up the allshare hub then. None of my TV's are "smart" TV's, so it works well for my "dumb" TV's.
Also, a while back, I picked up a pogoplug for under $20 and I use that for storage- kinda like a "mini NAS". You can hook up usb drives (flash or harddrives) to it and right now I basically have a couple of flash drives to serve the media to phone, so it's cool for mirroring or just while out and about. Pretty cheap, quick and doesn't require much effort so it was well worth it for me...it comes in handy because it's set up so I don't have to do any transcoding for videos - I just use the mxplayer app and the phone does the rest.
There is one thing I have yet to try, just for curiosity's sake - to run xbmc on my S4 while it's connected to the TV with the wired MHL dongle, then use my wife's phone or my tablet with an xbmc remote app to connect to and control the videos to play from the s4 while mirrored...
That's cool with the roku. Have you tried just using something like couchyplay http://www.roku.com/channels/#!details/19661/couchy-play
or rodropbox http://www.roku.com/channels/#!details/18042/rodropbox so you don't have to d/l to your phone from dropbox?
You could even use something like the cloudpipes app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maximussoft.cloudpipes&hl=en to automate moving/copying files back and forth on dropbox while you're not using your phone (at work or sleeping ..or whatever)
