I mean detail you are using an htc sense build but what build are you using how are you updating and how do you know the update was successful yielding to android nand flash

HÖÖÖÖÖÖ merry christmas waiting for video (fake?)

hmmmm
seems to be a sense build by the looks of it. I dont think its as easy as doing an over the air update to get it to install to NAND, although it would be halarious if it ended up being so easy. More info would be great. Im still on the side that screams "FAKE!" though.

really some type of details would be great at this point. heck what windows rom are you using ill try it myself.

me too

agreed definitely need some specifications...

looks bit fake, but more info would be gr8

Be patient....

wait please... did u used OTA update, like flashed phone memory and installed android-or just patched HARET to do linux booting from phone storage???
I ask this cause i tracking NAND development all the time-there is no flashing yet...
please reply

Think he has only managed to run an over the air update - probable only updates android but will not be nand - chances are the update will screw his android build and will have to format his SD card... my thoughts anyway from the pictures.

I'll like to tell you guys but I don't know myself
I always try to update Android on my Leo when ever I put a new build on it
And this time it worked
It turns the phone off
Like when it does when flashing so I hold the volume buttos down
I'm going flash my Rom and try it again
I'll make a video of it, if it works ill post it
And no its not fake

build details? what android and or winmo build are you running so I can try to do it myself

My opinion and it is just opinion but what i think is he may be using a rom from a 2.1 build that is getting updated to 2.2 and it downloading it as an update for the orig phone. Will it work ???? Will it install to memory or sd card??? Heck stranger things have happen here on xda...... Why i dont think it will work is cause the download is just 25mb...... A full firware update would be much bigger I would think....

Even if it did work, it may flash a radio from a different device and brick the phone....I wouldn't do it....

I've tried to figure it out what is written on screen
but your pic is so small

I smell fake, but the logic behind it kinda works:
Modify a WinMo Update to contain Android and let the HD2 update. But there are to many things that have to be modified so it can be adopted to the HD2.

All it does is download the update and asks you if you want to install it which reboot the phone but does nothing since it just boots into windows mobile instead of the actual update.

Is A New Android Sense ROM coming out Tomorrow?

gamesquare dot co dot uk/desire.htm
has listed that a new v5 update is coming on the 21st of July that has a bunch of fixes. But there is no way to download it . anyone have any idea where I can get a ROM that i can use daily. PREFERABLY stock 2.1 or 2.2 but whatever is stable and ready for daily use will do. Thank you all for your answers ahead of time. REALLY want to get rid of my iPhone and get an HD2
I have read something that there is an Energy Droid ROM that NRGZ28 dropped but cant find it or his directions. There is way too many posts and threads here to find things sometimes.

Well I should have asked, are the UK dl and the twitter Dl links just SD run roms or do they fully take over the hd2 and run alone wiping winmo? I'm not interested in dual boot. serves no purpose in my opinion.
None wipe WinMO at this point. The twitter links are generally patches for developers or anyone who wants to experiment with the version theyve downloaded. Best you can do at this point is donate to the developers suport, time, and money and they will be done soon.

If anybody would bother reading, what NRGZ28 has posted, or the readme in the download ..
From Readme By NRGZ28
This package is a combination of a minimal WM ROM made by me (NRGZ28) and the latest "Desire" V4 Android build for the HD2 made by Cotulla! More info can be found here http://gamesquare.co.uk/desire.html
In order to run this on your HD2, you have to copy THREE files to the root folder of a storage card and insert it in the device. YOU CANNOT RUN THIS WITHOUT A STORAGE CARD. If the OS detect no storage card, it will shut down automatically. Now...
Copy "data.img","rootfs.img" and "system.sqsh" found in the 7z archive, to the ROOT of your storage card.
These files require about 400 MBytes, so make sure you have at least that much available on the card. A class 4 or Class 6 card is recommended for best performance.
If you find that you don't like this ROM and want to get back to your regular Windows Mobile ROM, turn the phone off (press the End key inside Android or simply pull the battery) and hold the "Volume Down" key on the side of the phone, as you're turning it on with the red power key. It will bring you to the multi colored bootloader screen, where you can plug in your cable and flash your favorite ROM.
1. Sugggestions
- Choose the HTC Sense interface on startup when you're asked what you want to run. It runs better.
- Go to Settings / Wireless & Networks / Mobile Networks / Access Point Names and push the "windows" key on the device to get the menu to pop out. Here you can add the access point for your provider. For example, it's "wap.voicestream.com" for TMobile USA. You can look this up easily on XDA. This is a required step to get DATA services in Android.
- The "windows" key is your menu key in android.
Enjoy and be sure to thank Cotulla for his hard work on this !!

Ya thats all I could find, what you just posted.
Don't expect to see a stable daily use ROM any time soon. Try looking around at the other devices that have Android ported for the last year. Do they have a flashable ROM ? Nope........! Don't expect one for the HD2 anytime soon. If you want Droid as an every day OS go get an Android phone. That's really your only solution.
Does the new Desire build have to have the newest zImage also?
Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to connect your phone to your PC in Desire v5. You don't get the "Mount phone" option in the notification area.
Also, native camera app doesn't work, as it forces you to use the optical trackball to take a pic, but HD2 doesn't have optical trackpad. CameraMagic works fine though.

Ditto. I can't seem to get to gamesquare's website either...
internet not working.....
how do i get the internet and my voice calls to work properly.....I have android up and working, just having those 2 issues
Here we go. I DL'ed the zip, and unzipped it. I do not see a ROM to install? I was under the impression that this would install a basic ROM + Everything needed to run Android (except I have to copy the 3 files to the SD). Does it not. Do I have to install a basic ROM myself first, and if so, how do I then make this Android work on boot?
Anyone? Maybe fast help? (I'm leaving work soon and wanted to do it before)...

Perfect WM and Android Combination. NO ECHO OR SOD! Updated: 8/7/10

First i want to say thanks to all the developers that got involved to make this possible. Their hard work and sleepless nights are greatly appreciated.
I tried so many combinations of ROM's and Radio's that i gave up and nearly lost hope until a friend of mine at work found the perfect combination of Windows Mobile and Android to load on the US Tmobile HD2. Maybe i should buy him lunch tomorrow .
I think many are experiencing the issues i had, soooo.... I wanted to share this information and show you all little lost sheep out there how to get to the light at the end of the tunnel.
If you want to start from scratch, meaning from the factory ROM on the phone, then do what i did and follow the instructions below in the same order i performed them. If you are savvy enough to follow along without starting from a stock ROM, then more power to you. These steps are for the dummies like me who are out there and cant follow instructions.
Again this is for the US-TMobile HD2's. I dont know that this will work for the EU HD2's. Try at your own risk.
Step 1
Install the TMO Stock ROM. Click Here
Step 2
Root your TMO Stock ROM by installing 2.08.HardSPL. Click Here
Step 3
Install Energy's "Stardard-Energy" ROM located on the US TMO forum but for your convenience.... Click Here
Step 4
Install Radio version 2.12.50.02.2. Click Here
Step 5
Copy shubCRAFT's "Android" folder to the root of your SD Card. Click Here
- (I edited the startup file to prevent the "cant access tty; job control turned off " error message, therefore this install should be plug and play.
- When the copy is complete, place the SD CARD back in your phone if not already, and run clrcad & haret from the Storage card.
- You can also use the auto boot loader .cab file on your WM rom to autoload Android. Click Here
Updated: 8/7/10
For those of you who are having issues and don't know how to modify the startup.txt file. Here is a copy of the startup.txt file without the "loop_partition=mmcblk0" command line. Click Here
Just copy the file to the Android folder and overwrite the existing one and you should be all set.
Step 6
Here is a new 1GB userdata.img download link. Click Here
The old one was giving issues with texting. If you guys want a bigger userdata file let me know. This will also fix any download issues from the Market and prevent low disk space errors when attempting to install an application from the SD card.
Update: 8/7/10
Here is a 4GB userdata.img for the ones that wanted a bigger file. Click Here
I'll have to try this. Keep having the static/echo problem no matter what radio I use. Currently I'm running ChuckyROMS and dan1j3l's Froyo build. Got one more radio to try and if that doesn't work, oh well, I'll try this combo.
As far as I remember I am using ChuckyDroid and Radio 12_50.2 and matt latest version and no echo/sod since yesterday and got about 20 hours out of battery life. Must mention I use the phone "alot" so my battery drains accordingly

Frustrating!
Even with the new zimage, clean SD, I still get robo-voice. I refuse to clean out my stock TMOUS ROM / radio though...there has to be a fix that doesn't require me to do HSPL....(i own a mac...is there an easy way to do HSPL on a mac?)

U don'nt have to HSPL again to install the Radio, and neither will u lose any data, so just go ahead if an new radio will help resolving the robo-voise
Does flashing the stock tmo rom first really make a difference? I've flashed like crazy to get the best combo but haven't had the stock rom since I first flashed.
No matter what I do I'm still getting massive background noise (mic gain?) downloading energy + shubcraft now, let's see if this does it!

You know guys, I really gotta say this. I think its really mestup that when you try to download the "Standard-Energy Rom" they give you the option to either pay them for a fast download or suffer through their agravating super slow download that they intentionally made that way for who ever doesnt wanna pay up.
I noticed the "Affiliate Program" they have which for those of you who dont know, it just means that every time someone goes and pays for the "super fast download", there is someone behind the scene getting paid for making you pay. That someone is usually the one who provides the link to that website.
Why am I exposing this? because who ever is doing this should at least have the curtesy to let us know it is NOT free to download and HE will make money when you choose to pay, not just thinking he's fooling people to a comission- which he is.
The last time I tried downloading for free, it took 2 1/2 hours and at the end I got a little "Error" message saying there was a problem downloading and the download could not be completed. - .. as expected for not paying up right?
How do I know this, because I AM an "Affiliate Marketer". I know how this stuff works, but I dont work this way.
has anyone realized this is a emulator .....lmao

Yeah you got it, thats the only "magical" thing. With the last Radio all Echos are gone and the Bad Backround noises too.
No one must try diff ROM and Radios anymore.
I use the Original 1.66 Stock ROM and Darkstones Desire v5 (my absolute favorit) and with the latest zimage the last Soundproblems are solved.
I only wait for GPS works in the v5, coz than it is the perfect build.

applies to stock roms also, flash a 2.10 rom
ROMeOS has been updated to v4.17 expressly for Android Compatibility

[Q] Still confused about Android, really don't know what to do?!?!

I'm still really confused. People are telling me to flash a different radio for android... then install Linux drivers or whatever, do I really have to install all this?!!? I thought it was just running Haret.exe and it works...
If anyone has individual guides for these would be great.... I'm really beyond confusion with this.
I basically just wanna dual boot the 2.1 Sense ROM (The best one, with good battery life etc.) and have everything working. If there is a particular guide, or several guides for this and someone could them to me in order I would be so greatful... because I really have no idea what I'm doing.
Also on a T-Mobile UK HD2, if that changes anything.
Just put a build on your SD card download an Android boot loader then run it simple as no need to change radio or anything else

If your really having trouble with it, then usually all I'd say is READ all of the stickies, all the info you could ever want on the subject and brings you to being in the exellent position of knowing almost everything. If not, take this link and call me in the morning
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380
I do wish i could leave it there, but the OP of that thread has disappeared and isn't supporting the latest developments, but that tells you to download an Android build a ROM and a radio (oh, and a dual boot program). Those are the core components, If you wanna switch builds, you just change your SDcard whenever you do so desire. But you don't get much information on jacking round with the Kernel, this can provide quick upgrades to hardware (such as.... getting the lightsensor working in the future) without changing builds.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719646
that should give you base knowledge of all things XDAndroid (a few posts down on the second link mind you). Hope this helps

Here is the crash course for you...
* It is the best to learn how to get Android on your phone and test different builds yourself for your taste - so, what makes you happy keep that build I guess.
I have T-Mobile USA HD2 am using FroyoStone Series V1 build and everything works just fine. Auto Killer App puts battery in comparable position with my WinMo and therefore I am using now Android full-time for the past week or so - not a single SOD, freeze, etc. - it simply works just fine.
How to get Android on your HD2? Find compatible build for your UK HD2 version by reading stickies and doing a little bit of homework researching xda forum.
Then once you find the build:
1. Download it... it will be packed into archive most likely (rar, zip, 7z, etc)
2. Froyo builds go usually into one folder "Android" - as packed just copy folder Android into the root of your SD card on your phone.
3. Open it up through File Explorer, start/click CLRCAD.exe - you will see no action and that's fine - this makes sure your sound works fine... then, start/click haret.exe...
4. Leave it to boot - first boot is bit longer but it should boot in less than couple of minutes or something like that (depends on the build).
5. DO WATCH what the lines state - if there is anything like "failed to mount, blah blah" or any other possible failure to load something - come back and start searching for solution on these forums... You should be fine (however, I do not offer any guarantee as any of the build makers).
The rest is pretty easy - run Android, play with it and see if you like it...
Note: To change builds, it is very simple... Just delete Android Folder from SD Card root and you are ready to download and install (copy over) another "Android folder" into the root of the build you have downloaded.
Cheers mate!
Okay, so there isn't need for flashing Radio's etc. then? Literally just running the files?
I can't even download the ROM's, not downloading I'll try again later though.
Most of the rom builders recommend upgrading to the most recent radio. There seem to be fewer issues with SOD, robo voice, etc vs older radios. That said, YMMV so try it out with what you have now. If you have problems try to out newer radios or WinMO roms built to run android. Good luck.

SIMPLIFIED GUIDE

Need some help with an Andoird build for my dad.

Hi
First off all I want to say: I can probably find everything here in the forum but I'll spend hours and hours reading and most off the time I'll read useless info that I don't need so if you have the knowledge and it just takes 5 minutes to share it please help me out I'll be thankful.
I myself have a HTC legend and have read LOTS off posts before finally rooting and flashing custom roms. Now my dad has asked me if I could help him to get android on his HD2.
He needs to be able to sync his agenda with outlook (for work (Calendar and contacts) I read something about HTC sync should be working on newer kernels is it included in some builds then?), and have a stable build (its not a ROM if I'm correct?) one that he could use for daily use. Don't need anything too special (not even root but its not a problem if it does have root access)
So I've started reading around in the development section and from what I read I don't need to root or flash anything, just extract a zip to the SD and name it Android. Is that correct? (then why do you have special android roms?)
So is there someone who can link me to a good stable (no OC kernels and stuff please) Android Build and tell me if there are known bugs with HD2 builds that don't get mentioned in those threats because they are known as general knowledge.
Thanks in advance
If I could ever help you back with HTC legend problem or something I'll gladly do it for you.
grts
Jonas (sorry for the pour English it's not my main language)
I'm reading topics and If I find answers I'll update this but please if you have the knowledge to help me in a few minutes PLEASE do so.
Never mind found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782930
and solved most of my questions looks like its not as fully operating as I thought :s.
So It's not just as easy as unzipping and renaming that would have been too easy.
It isn't very complicated to run android on the HD2. I don't know what feature you suspect isn't working that scared you from attempting. Every feature I could want is working. You also don't need to sacrifice windows mobile if you try android. Give it a shot and post again if you have trouble.
Problem is that I need to root and flash other wm Rom if I want everything to work as it should. Or isn't that really necessary? I'll just try a build and see what it does. Thx for th reply

if you have to hspl your hd2 depends on your stock radio rom version. it should be a newer one like 2.10 or 2.12 to avoid most issues with android. flashing another winmo rom is only necessary if you have robot voice and/or faster playback of music (just to mention 2 problems)... you don't have anything to loose if you try android from stock hd2. if it's not working fine, you may think of flashing a new radio and/or rom!
So if I unzip the file I can dowload here put it into android folder in the root of my SD, I'm good to go? What about that kernel do I need to flash it??
if he uses it for work then i'd suggest laying off android for now
he could still use the WM? It's just like a program no? So by just removing the folder it would be back to normal?

You basically reboot the phone and it goes back to wmo. Its almost like running a live linux cd...
When you run HaRet Android takes over the phone. When you reboot it will come back to WinMo. Then you run HaRet again and you back in Android. And so on. WinMo 'lives' on the phone, Android on sd.
So the kernel they are talking about is a fake kernel? (not flashed to the actual ROM)
So if anything goes wrong at first boot with the android I can just pull out the battery without bricking the phone?

Its not a fake kernel...it is real but it resides on the sd card so your original wmo stuff will still be there in case you ever need to use wmo again.

You s should start your own thread. There are many different unlock so specify which one you're after, sim unlock? This section is only for android so if you need help on something else, post it in the hd2 general section, not here. Unless it is android related, you won't find help here.
Ok so if I install this:

I can just remove the file on the SD when it doesn't work like we want it too and everything will be back to normal right?
You are correct.
If it doesnt work for you just erase the android folder. I would recommend flashing hard spl, and changing your radio to 2.12.50.02_2. Then load the hyperdroid 1.6 rom. You will have the best luck with that probably without having to change anything in winmo.

I'd recommend using a spare SD card. When you run Android it creates a ton of folders on it, so it's easier to have a dedicated one than to try and delete everything later (if he decides not to stick with Android).
Also, I read through the thread and couldn't see anywhere... did you tell us what radio is on the HD2? It needs to be (I believe) 2.08 or higher, and it's VERY recommended to have a 2.x.50 and not a 2.x.51 radio.
If you flash a 2.x.51 radio on a t-mobile US HD2 you will brick it. Try flashing radio 2.12.50.02_2

Yeah dno the radio version or the bootloader version.
Do i need root to see that?? Is it just booting while pressing volume down to get the bootloader and the info I need?
Also I read that the HyperDroidV1.6 is overclocked and undervolted and I drather not do that. Just want it as stable as can be. (I know my overclocked legend is stable but if he has a really crappy processor,..)
BTW: I know what overclocking does but what's good about undervolting?? better batterylife?
I think I'll just give this a try this weekend (when my dad (and his phone xD)are home)

Just reboot the phone. The radio version is shown at the bottom left of the first white HTC screen (R,G,D - R is the radio version).

I'm assuming undervolting is for better battery life, but have never bothered with it myself. Just have a read of the most popular Android builds to see which you think will work for you. I can recommend FroyoStone Sense v3.1, but I would because that's what I use!
It's so easy to try the different builds that it's no big deal if you play with one and don't like it, so don't be shy - give em all a go if that's what it takes!
Edit: Just noticed your edit from when I was posting. lol

[Q] Android system software update

I just booted into Android and it said there was a software update. it downloaded, but of course won't install on my phone because it's running from the card and my phone turns off and boots back into windows whenever i hit 'install now'. does anybody know what the update is? it says it has new features and new performances so i'm dying to know what it is. did anyone else get this message recently?
I had the same thing happen to me on froyo sense, I just ignored it, it wont install.
yap,Me TOO ingored it
Errr why would you need them? We get the latest greatest Android builds right here on XDA. We're probably ahead of the game anyway with regard to features thanks to the awesome developers here!
it's 2.2.1 update OTA
Use your file manager to located the downloaded update file, open it on your desktop, extract the contents of the patch folder and put them into your current Android folder. Reboot and it should've updated.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

What does the update do anyway? Will it mess up our system since it's a custom build?
Sorry if there's and alternate thread going on somewhere, I don't see the update working by simply adding the patch file contents to the root of the Android folder...or is it just me

...or a different scenario could be that some people are still using older builds, say Darkstones Froyo 2.1 build from 18th Aug, because they've had no probs and wondered if it was possible to update?
Poor Darkstone's a busy man judging from the work he's done lately...hate to keep pestering the guy for an update
Thanks anyway.
