I need a good program who can easy change my ring setings(ring tones,volume...), and that is not for Today plugin.
what are your recommendations ?
I daily use SBSH PhoneWeaver : http://www.sbsh.net/products/windows_mobile_pocket_pc/phoneweaver
Good, reliable, and effiscient... My phone is totally under control of PhoneWeaver !
(Switch on and off, mute while meeting, etc...)
thanks for help,
I try PhoneWeaver 2.0 and it is OK.
i'm using phonealarm for several years now and i'm very happy with it. It has many many nice features...a bit hard to make it all work in the beginning, but once everything is configured as you like, it works very well!
phonealarm is too complex and large program
but thanks for help.
For me phoneAlarm is the best, you can set everything for each profile.
Yes, a little complicated but it's doing everything. the best for me.
Well, i think both solutions have got their advantages...
It's just a matter of taste... and experience !
Maybe PhoneWeaver is better for a beginner... more intuitive ?
Solved, hence shut.
PS: A search would have been a better option, do use it in the future.

Hi All
Ive been requested to develop a simple profile manager for the xda II.
My users thought thet Zen's was gr8 but too complicated and too big on the today screen.
Here is what Ive come up with thus far. If anyone is interested feel free to check it out and of course any feedback is welcomed.

Hi All
How it works.
Profiles :-
Silent
Turns system and ringer volume down. Can still use bluetooth and bt headset. Can still select vibrate functionality.
Soft,normal,load
User definable. Can set system volume. can set ringer volume, can use bluetooth and bt headset, can select a number of different ring options (ring, ring and vibrate, etc)
Automatic
This profile is a special one. as above but can opt to trigger on appointment status of meeting or busy. When selected it used the previously selected profile's options (if using normal then switch to automatic, normal profile settings are still in use) but when an outlook appointment of status busy or meeting starts as per outlook entry the profile changes to whatever the settings are you selected in the setup for automatic. When the appointment ends the profile settings switch back to how they were and it all goes around again for the next meeting until such time as you switch to another profile.
Here is the lastest version (v1.06 ) of the app and some screenshots.
Cheers

Hi Bretto.
I haven't installed your application yet, but why are they called 'demo'? Is this utility commercial?
Well, for Zen's PhoneProfile not only can you make the icons smaller (I used paintshop pro and reduced them 50%), so that it's smaller on teh today screen, you can now also use PocketZenPhone Tray, the version of PZP that resides in the tool tray rather then the today screen....
Hi all
Im just calling them demo versions at the moment. Of course when its finished I wont.
I was using pocketzenphone myself but I simply got pushed into this project because some of my users wanted an alternative to what else is around. Something simple that handles the basics.

IMHO:
With PocketZenPhone you can both manage the simplest options and have some more sophisticated options like run a program on profile switch, switch a profile according to any outlook status, manage all the available profiles on a timed base... etc., etc,
With it you can do all of this or just use its basic functions, and the settings page is "newbie proof" (oops...I was using a less polite expression   )
Finally... I cannot see any reason to develop another application... also considering the price that PZP costs: if your nice sw will do less it will have to cost less...
But of course the choice is up to you, good luck !
I certainly appreciate your comments but I would have thought choice for the consumer was always a good thing.
Not withstanding that its users who have requested this application after reviewing whats available.
I certainly dont take anything away from PZP its a great product and Im sure will only get bigger and better. Personally I like it.

Thank U Bretto for a exelent work .. Love it ..

Thanks for the feedback
I do have a new version with some enhancements that were requested.
The ability to have bluetooth on/off/leave as is.
The ability to have a point and click selection mode as well as the popup selection mode.
A couple of fixes.
The app is still being tested so when it has been cleared I'll post a new version for you.

Hello all,
Does anyone know if there is a program that allows you to set various ring profiles like on the nokia phones. This is a very useful and quick way of changing ring settings.
Hi,
I use phone alarm from pocketmax and have done for about 6 months. I think it works perfectly especially when getting on a flight.
www.pocketmax.net
Hope that helps,
M.
Or try PocketZenPhone, it's much easier that PocketAlarm.
Try PocketZenPhone, is the better!!
Have to say originally I tried - ok 6 months ago - PocketZenPhone and didn't like it. It hung alot and just didn't integrate well. Haven't tried the newer version.
Phone alarm though I like for the following reasons:
1. Allows MP3 SMS tones
2. Repeating alarms (like Motorola) to avoid missing alarms
3. Integration with WebIS mail
4. Integration into Today screen
5. Skins
6. GPRS settings
7. General notification settings
It seems to do what PocketZenPhone does and more. Just my opinion though
M.
Here you go!
Hi mates,
I have spent several days looking for a phone profiler (ala Nokia) as much simple as possible... no whistles and bells, no bloatware... just profiles.
I miserably failed!
So I decided to develop myself a software solution to accomplish this simple task.
I am so happy with it that I have decided to share it with you.
It is completely FREE. Take it as it is, of course!
I've been using it for several weeks now, and could not experience any failures. Nonetheless there could be bugs or malfunctionings I would be glad to fix if you let me know.
My "Phone Profiles" includes a control panel Applet to change your settings and a Today Item plugin to easily select or change the current profile.
Just select the today item, tap-n-hold (or hold the action button down) to display a popup menu with your profiles.
For all the CLaunch lovers, it also possible to activate a given profile from a command line using the following sintax:
ctlpnl.exe profiler.cpl, n, 1
where n is the profile number. Change 1 to 0 if you want just to edit the profile's settings.
This software has been tested on WM2003SE Phone Edition only.
That's all, I guess.
Enjoy.
M. Panzica (aka Silver Bullet)
UPDATED: Looks like it does not work properly if compiled with VS2005. Recompiled with eVC4. Please re-download. Sorry.
Pocket Zen Phone can be found at http://zendrui.free.fr/
@TheBrit
Do you mean you didn't like mine ?
@slvrbllt - does your profiler work on WM5 - I have a universal and am interested to know if it works on that. I can't test it on it tho just now cuz it's away for repair
@NinjaDonkey:
Nope, buddy.
As far as I know it doesn't work (yet) on WM5, since I use API calls that require the code to be signed. I am currently working on a new version that is supposed to be running on WM5 as well... stay tuned.

I'm sure yours is just fine.
I've been using PZP for a while now and it really does the trick. It not only profiles ring tones but lots of other settings too. 8)
...and here is the ITALIAN version many of you have requested.
Cheers.
hi! i'm a new magician user. may i ask how will I install your Profiler to my phone?
Try PocketZenPhone or PhoneAlarm
Those 2 should be the best in the market now
I just try both of them as of late
And I must say I choose PhoneAlarm better than PZP, PZP is a little slow and would hang once in a while
Plus PhoneAlarm got more feature like billing info, better skining...ext
@Silver Bullet: Could you post some screenshots please?
Greetings,
BGK
PZP has full instuctions here: http://zendrui.free.fr/

Hi,
I just downloaded and installed your little program on my Magician, and I am seriously impressed! The Today DLL is a mere 12k, and everything works flawlessly so far!
Great job - thanks a lot!
Would you allow me a few comments, in no particular order?
- your program needs a name.
- the GPRS problem that PZP has seems to not exist in your program - well done! I'm almost convinced to switch...
- this thread here is about the three existing profiles programs. Could we have a separate thread for your program?
- would you care to comment how you manage to switch on/off Bluetooth? I remember that for Zendrui this was not easy to implement. Does your program also handle Widcomm stacks?
- I would be interested in a German version, and if you send me a string table, I'd be more than happy to to provide German translations.
- one wish: I certainly do not want all of the settings PZP offers, but there are a few I do miss:
-- setting the volume for system sounds. There are situations where any sound is unacceptable, even the beeps when tapping.
-- set the backlight time-out. For example, when I navigate, I do not want the backlight to turn off at all.
-- backlight level independently for battery and charging mode.
Yes, I know that this already sounds like beginning featuritis. But afaik all these settings are simple registry entries, so should not bloat the code. Trying to put this into the UI may be a bit tricky. Well, just my personal wishes - feel free to ignore if you disagree.
Overall, I find it a really well-done little program. Thanks a lot again!
Cheers
Daniel
In my opinion the best is Profiler  Very simple and friendly program.

Hi all,
I need help waking up in the morning and figure I'd use my phone for that, along with my other two alarm clocks
My problem is, the alarm function of this phone, Cingular 8525, leaves a lot to be desired. My question to you, simple and to the point, is: what Alarm program do you use that is free or at least reasonably priced? I tried SPT Time, and though it seemed nice, seemed to be more than what I was looking for. I'd like something simple but good.
Thanks,
ADP
I hear PhoneAlarm is awesome.. I'm gonna try it out pretty soon.
Check it out here:
http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html
not free tho ..
Try Pocket Wakeup...it's free and works great! You can setup to use any mp3 as your wakeup alarm sound. Check it out:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1299
http://pocketalarm.iit-bsuir.com/indexen.htm is free for Russians
I use Stop Time by Jonathon Sachs on my Himalaya with WM2003 but haven't tried it on my TyTN yet.
http://home.comcast.net/~jonsachs/
The calculator Eval is good too.
PocketTravelAlarm is also great, not free though
Hi,
Im just looking for a simple app to create/switch profiles on my 8525, to just set different preset values for notification sounds and volumes. PhoneAlarm is good, but i dont need all the stuff it offers as a today plugin, i just need profile switching.
Are there any freeware apps for this?
Thanks!
Modaco PPCProfiles-Pro
Yes, I would love a repeating notification reminder like PhneAlarm has but just refuse to have all the other rubbish it comes with - don't need Today plugin or skins, or profiles or even multiple sounds (just a beep once a minute will do me fine).
Alas, I have been looking for weeks and can find nothing.
Some that look promising, trun out not to work in sleep mode which I believe is the big problem. If you have to wake the OS constantly to create the sound it uses lots of battery power.
But maybe someone will come up with something eventually... even if it is MS and the OEMs.
An alternative i previously used before PA was PocketZenPhone you can use a today plugin or a simple tray app, which is what sounds like you need.
Works really well, im not sure if its free or not but it does the business. The only reason i switched to PA was because i wanted profile switching based on GSM CellID (which i had on my old Sony Ericsson P900 with "Magic Profiles Pro").
But it is good, and a tidy app rather thana brightly skinned today plugin.
PocketZENphone not free anymore
...sorry, you got to pay for Version 6 now...
I use PocketZenPhone, yes you do have to pay for it, but there is a 15 day trial use.
I did use Phone Alarm but changed for the same reason, it did too much for what I wanted.
All I can say about PocketZenPhone is that it does a vary good job of being able to set up different profiles.
I have it set up as Silent, Quiet, Normal, Loud and Car.
Makes changing volume level, ring tones, message tones a doddle.
I recommend it.

That app doesn't offer the repeating alarms.
PhoneAlarm but guzzles power flashlight ... Do you know someone on the program as good, but so immature like a flashlight?
Is there anybody who can recommend a good stopwatch program?
Maybe SPB Time
Try SPB Time! Of course its not free but it provides several stopwatches, timers and alarms.
At freeware pocket PC
is a great kaldma.se stopwatch.
It's great, has 10 split times and looks greta.
It's also free!!!!
I will try Spb Time, thanks for the help .

I like G-Watch, I make 5-minutes-eggs in the morning with it
www.ageye.de
I prefer TimeKeeper myself, it looks nice, performs well, and has god knows how many different functions. I think I had about 10 stopwatches running at the same time. Didn't half slow down the phone. I don't use it now mind you because I have SPB Time, it's not as good in functionality but still acceptable.
