How do I get this to work - when xda2 is off , and when xda2 is on?
I also have some problems.
Sometimes the alarm works, sometimes not.
What can I do?
Thanks,
Urosh
I had same problem
I say had, as it was caused by an mp3 player I had installed on it, once de-installed, and soft reset, it all worked pefect.
So my advise is, check for some programms installed that could interfere with the alarm settings
(As I am a complete newbie to this I hope that I didn't misunderstand this topic)
As far as I found out there is a bug in Pocket PC 2003 that sometimes switches off the alarm. Find more information and a link for a bugfix here:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=876
Hope that will be useful...
The mentioned bugfix...
Okay, I never experienced problems with the alarm clock. Nevertheless I installed the bugfix because I hate not beeing woken up in the morning.
Although the bugfix is installed, the alam clock did not work this morning. So I advise you to use a second alarm clock to avoid surprises in the morning...
I am still having a problem, does any one else have any ideas?
Since I've installed the 1.60 ROM together with the bugfix, the alarm clock seems to work fine. But I still don't trust it and use a second, old school alarm clock...
Alarm clock 2 solutions
I was also having problems with my alarms, read somewhere that unwanted entries in start up could affect this & slow your machine down too, Hope that helps....
Download this freeware (both of them), install them and run them.

I installed this freeware which seems to have (a) cleared a lot of unwanted dross (sometimes 400+!!!!) & (b) sorted out my alarm problem
Someone recommended this excellent and useful 'pocket Alarm' utility when I was still using my XDA I, Burr Oak have now upgraded it and it better than ever!
Try it free here :- http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta2.html (costs $12-ish if you like it enough to register it) 8)

maybe this would help aswell
Thanks for all the help guys, I'm not quite sure what fixed it but my XDA II is not working with the Alarm... A friend had the same problem and could not get his to work. We found out that if we used the power button to turn the device off it would not work...
As soon as I did a software power off the alarms started to work after that (May need to do it twice!).. give that a go it worked for us...
After getting it working I can now use the power off button and all working 100%...
I'm one of you guys: alarm does not work. Unfortunately I don't have much to offer.
I just wanna share a few things that I noticed:
1) I hard reset my qtek and tried the alarm, before any additional software installation.. Guess what! Nothing happened. The alarm did not work. I also used other 3rd party alarm software. It was all the same: the force-wake up doesn't work.
It is obvious to me that it's an operating system bug that makes us go to work late every morning.
What confuses me most, is the fact that I had no problem for the first 4 months of usage. This fact indicates that some piece of software is responsible for this mess. But then again, why a hard reset does not resolve it?
Like I said, I cannot do anything to help but to share these thoughts with you.

It's OK now?
Did Wakeup Tweak solved the problem for all of you?
Or there is more to it?
Thanks,
Chris
I haven't try it yet cchris. I'll let you now.
By the way, I was in Cusago last week. Nice place!
SPB Pocket plus 2.x
If any of you are using SPB's pocket plus 2.1, it would be worthwile to uncheck the alarm feature and use the alarm provided by the OS itself.
I started to have the alarm working again.
It seems that Wakeup Tweak did the job. Alarm works perfectly ok now. I haven't got any problem for the last few days.
Maybe we have most powerful device for digital asistance , but still it cant wake up me when i want :? , it is very ironik i have this device but i must use mechanic clock for wake up on time ... Is there any solition except install spb time?
Reload,
1st time poster (old time lurker), so please bear if my data is old. Don't know if this is still usable - but when my XDA II was new i had to install a program called "Wakeup Tweak" or something like that. Thanks to this site and many other sites that helped 'patch' up the bugs of the device.
It made a few changes in the registry to 'allow' the device to wake up when an alarm goes off. Did a quick search here a link:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=876
Hope it's still usable - goodluck
Thank you Assisi , it looks like for 2003 , my device have 2003 se but i will try i hope it will work
I have found that if you disable the "vibrate" option for the alarm then it works fine.
SPB Time can make matters worse. When it's alarm goes off, it disables the sounds for Events (warnings, system events() and Notifications (alarms, reminders) until you click on "disable" on the little dialog window that comes up when SPB times alarm goes off. The problem is, sometimes it seems to "forget" to reenable these things which creates other annoyances. I'm not sure why SPB has included this "feature" but its enough to make me want to uninstall it sometimes.
this is funny/interesting, coz i'm using my xda2 default alarm feature daily, to wake me up at 5:30, and it works...
buzz
i have 2 xda2 in the household and both suffer from the same problem like the ones in 2003 roms. The first alarm of the day jus refuses to go off when its suppose to ... well occasionally it does but alot of times it just doesnt.
It use to be a simple registry hack to extend the suspend time for housekeeping at midnight everyday, can anyone confirm this is the same issue for 2003SE ?
And by the way, does anyone have a link to the registry hack ... i did a quick search and didnt find what i was looking for
I used to suffer from the same problem on my old rom (1.66). When i upgraded to 2.06, it seemed to be fixed.
Anyway, check here to fix it. It worked for me on the old rom.

Hello all,
Does anyone know if there is a program that allows you to set various ring profiles like on the nokia phones. This is a very useful and quick way of changing ring settings.
Hi,
I use phone alarm from pocketmax and have done for about 6 months. I think it works perfectly especially when getting on a flight.
www.pocketmax.net
Hope that helps,
M.
Or try PocketZenPhone, it's much easier that PocketAlarm.
Try PocketZenPhone, is the better!!
Have to say originally I tried - ok 6 months ago - PocketZenPhone and didn't like it. It hung alot and just didn't integrate well. Haven't tried the newer version.
Phone alarm though I like for the following reasons:
1. Allows MP3 SMS tones
2. Repeating alarms (like Motorola) to avoid missing alarms
3. Integration with WebIS mail
4. Integration into Today screen
5. Skins
6. GPRS settings
7. General notification settings
It seems to do what PocketZenPhone does and more. Just my opinion though
M.
Here you go!
Hi mates,
I have spent several days looking for a phone profiler (ala Nokia) as much simple as possible... no whistles and bells, no bloatware... just profiles.
I miserably failed!
So I decided to develop myself a software solution to accomplish this simple task.
I am so happy with it that I have decided to share it with you.
It is completely FREE. Take it as it is, of course!
I've been using it for several weeks now, and could not experience any failures. Nonetheless there could be bugs or malfunctionings I would be glad to fix if you let me know.
My "Phone Profiles" includes a control panel Applet to change your settings and a Today Item plugin to easily select or change the current profile.
Just select the today item, tap-n-hold (or hold the action button down) to display a popup menu with your profiles.
For all the CLaunch lovers, it also possible to activate a given profile from a command line using the following sintax:
ctlpnl.exe profiler.cpl, n, 1
where n is the profile number. Change 1 to 0 if you want just to edit the profile's settings.
This software has been tested on WM2003SE Phone Edition only.
That's all, I guess.
Enjoy.
M. Panzica (aka Silver Bullet)
UPDATED: Looks like it does not work properly if compiled with VS2005. Recompiled with eVC4. Please re-download. Sorry.
Pocket Zen Phone can be found at http://zendrui.free.fr/
@TheBrit
Do you mean you didn't like mine ?
@slvrbllt - does your profiler work on WM5 - I have a universal and am interested to know if it works on that. I can't test it on it tho just now cuz it's away for repair
@NinjaDonkey:
Nope, buddy.
As far as I know it doesn't work (yet) on WM5, since I use API calls that require the code to be signed. I am currently working on a new version that is supposed to be running on WM5 as well... stay tuned.

I'm sure yours is just fine.
I've been using PZP for a while now and it really does the trick. It not only profiles ring tones but lots of other settings too. 8)
...and here is the ITALIAN version many of you have requested.
Cheers.
hi! i'm a new magician user. may i ask how will I install your Profiler to my phone?
Try PocketZenPhone or PhoneAlarm
Those 2 should be the best in the market now
I just try both of them as of late
And I must say I choose PhoneAlarm better than PZP, PZP is a little slow and would hang once in a while
Plus PhoneAlarm got more feature like billing info, better skining...ext
@Silver Bullet: Could you post some screenshots please?
Greetings,
BGK

Hi,
I just downloaded and installed your little program on my Magician, and I am seriously impressed! The Today DLL is a mere 12k, and everything works flawlessly so far!
Great job - thanks a lot!
Would you allow me a few comments, in no particular order?
- your program needs a name.
- the GPRS problem that PZP has seems to not exist in your program - well done! I'm almost convinced to switch...
- this thread here is about the three existing profiles programs. Could we have a separate thread for your program?
- would you care to comment how you manage to switch on/off Bluetooth? I remember that for Zendrui this was not easy to implement. Does your program also handle Widcomm stacks?
- I would be interested in a German version, and if you send me a string table, I'd be more than happy to to provide German translations.
- one wish: I certainly do not want all of the settings PZP offers, but there are a few I do miss:
-- setting the volume for system sounds. There are situations where any sound is unacceptable, even the beeps when tapping.
-- set the backlight time-out. For example, when I navigate, I do not want the backlight to turn off at all.
-- backlight level independently for battery and charging mode.
Yes, I know that this already sounds like beginning featuritis. But afaik all these settings are simple registry entries, so should not bloat the code. Trying to put this into the UI may be a bit tricky. Well, just my personal wishes - feel free to ignore if you disagree.
Overall, I find it a really well-done little program. Thanks a lot again!
Cheers
Daniel
In my opinion the best is Profiler  Very simple and friendly program.

hi, i have problems with wizards alarm and i was wondering,
dose any one have or know any good third party alarm clock software?
someone else in another forum here asked a similar question. My favorite bar none is Chronos. I've used it for a year or so and have never once missed an alarm
where do i get this Chronos?
where do i get this Chronos?
Firstly, ever heard of google?
Secondly, don't bother it will not wake up the device from standby so it is effectively useless.....
Says who it won't wake a device out of standby? I use my wizard as an alarm clock to wake me up in the morning. After 8 hours it is most definitely in standby.
Agreed, google is your friend, you should be able to find a trial of Chronos on any of the normal pocket pc software sites (handango, pocketgear, etc.)
Try the trial and see if it fixes your problem... I would be willing to bet that it does.
Errmmm,
I have the trial version (so it is the latest and not cracked or illegal); it does not wake the K-Jam out of standby (especially when snooze feature is used). This is also the case for my wife's XDA Mini S as well. Alarms are a well known problem on the Wizard; you must be a lucky one.
Hi,
Give pTravelAlarm a shot...
It's really great... it does wake up the device - and it turns it into an effective alarm clock. Really nice. Using it on all my business travels.
Google pTravelAlarm
Oh, and it also has a today plugin. Great little proggy.

WELL i have installed it. (pTravel Alarm) and it dose not wake up.
the simple way of doing this if anyone wants to use this software is that you use th wizards standard alarm to wake the wizard and then time it to set off after 1 min.
After my hardreset i did not install SPB pocketplus and my wizard never missed an alarm again. Although some people with pocketplus do not experience any alarm trouble i will stay away from it.
Also there is a free program called "check notifications" or something like it. It searches for duplicates/corruptions in your notification database. (probably responsible for the problems)
i'ts a standalone .exe file that you can copy to your ppc and then run from there. I heard it does wonders...
You know what, i will attach it to this post as an extra service

THANKS
if i remove the duplicate file will take currupt my Wizard?
eeehm i have no clue as to what you're asking here
But i guess the question is about the notification checker
just run it on your pda, you'll get a list of all your notifications (alarms), it will show the duplicates in red to delete.
the file will not take corrupt your wizard, but don't give your corruption wizard taking of the database

Chronos... the alarm clock of the gods!
I've been using Chronos on my K-Jam with the original and new ROM and it works a treat, waking me from stand-by, snoozing etc.
check out http://www.activekitten.com/en/games/detail.php?ID=351 for more info and a trial... their support is great as well... let 'em know how you find it for you on your machine
try Mobialarm 3.2 - works for me and plays most types of media files including wma. And its free
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=587
And yes it does come out of standby

Hi,
Im just looking for a simple app to create/switch profiles on my 8525, to just set different preset values for notification sounds and volumes. PhoneAlarm is good, but i dont need all the stuff it offers as a today plugin, i just need profile switching.
Are there any freeware apps for this?
Thanks!
Modaco PPCProfiles-Pro
Yes, I would love a repeating notification reminder like PhneAlarm has but just refuse to have all the other rubbish it comes with - don't need Today plugin or skins, or profiles or even multiple sounds (just a beep once a minute will do me fine).
Alas, I have been looking for weeks and can find nothing.
Some that look promising, trun out not to work in sleep mode which I believe is the big problem. If you have to wake the OS constantly to create the sound it uses lots of battery power.
But maybe someone will come up with something eventually... even if it is MS and the OEMs.
An alternative i previously used before PA was PocketZenPhone you can use a today plugin or a simple tray app, which is what sounds like you need.
Works really well, im not sure if its free or not but it does the business. The only reason i switched to PA was because i wanted profile switching based on GSM CellID (which i had on my old Sony Ericsson P900 with "Magic Profiles Pro").
But it is good, and a tidy app rather thana brightly skinned today plugin.
PocketZENphone not free anymore
...sorry, you got to pay for Version 6 now...
I use PocketZenPhone, yes you do have to pay for it, but there is a 15 day trial use.
I did use Phone Alarm but changed for the same reason, it did too much for what I wanted.
All I can say about PocketZenPhone is that it does a vary good job of being able to set up different profiles.
I have it set up as Silent, Quiet, Normal, Loud and Car.
Makes changing volume level, ring tones, message tones a doddle.
I recommend it.
