Alarm Clock - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

How do I get this to work - when xda2 is off , and when xda2 is on?

I also have some problems.
Sometimes the alarm works, sometimes not.
What can I do?
Thanks,
Urosh

I had same problem
I say had, as it was caused by an mp3 player I had installed on it, once de-installed, and soft reset, it all worked pefect.
So my advise is, check for some programms installed that could interfere with the alarm settings

(As I am a complete newbie to this I hope that I didn't misunderstand this topic)
As far as I found out there is a bug in Pocket PC 2003 that sometimes switches off the alarm. Find more information and a link for a bugfix here:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=876
Hope that will be useful...

The mentioned bugfix...
Okay, I never experienced problems with the alarm clock. Nevertheless I installed the bugfix because I hate not beeing woken up in the morning.
Although the bugfix is installed, the alam clock did not work this morning. So I advise you to use a second alarm clock to avoid surprises in the morning...

I am still having a problem, does any one else have any ideas?

Since I've installed the 1.60 ROM together with the bugfix, the alarm clock seems to work fine. But I still don't trust it and use a second, old school alarm clock...

I installed this freeware which seems to have (a) cleared a lot of unwanted dross (sometimes 400+!!!!) & (b) sorted out my alarm problem
Someone recommended this excellent and useful 'pocket Alarm' utility when I was still using my XDA I, Burr Oak have now upgraded it and it better than ever!

maybe this would help aswell

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm not quite sure what fixed it but my XDA II is not working with the Alarm... A friend had the same problem and could not get his to work. We found out that if we used the power button to turn the device off it would not work...
As soon as I did a software power off the alarms started to work after that (May need to do it twice!).. give that a go it worked for us...
After getting it working I can now use the power off button and all working 100%...

I'm one of you guys: alarm does not work. Unfortunately I don't have much to offer.
I just wanna share a few things that I noticed:
1) I hard reset my qtek and tried the alarm, before any additional software installation.. Guess what! Nothing happened. The alarm did not work. I also used other 3rd party alarm software. It was all the same: the force-wake up doesn't work.
It is obvious to me that it's an operating system bug that makes us go to work late every morning.
What confuses me most, is the fact that I had no problem for the first 4 months of usage. This fact indicates that some piece of software is responsible for this mess. But then again, why a hard reset does not resolve it?
Like I said, I cannot do anything to help but to share these thoughts with you.

It's OK now?
Did Wakeup Tweak solved the problem for all of you?
Or there is more to it?
Thanks,
Chris

I haven't try it yet cchris. I'll let you now.
By the way, I was in Cusago last week. Nice place!

SPB Pocket plus 2.x
If any of you are using SPB's pocket plus 2.1, it would be worthwile to uncheck the alarm feature and use the alarm provided by the OS itself.
I started to have the alarm working again.

It seems that Wakeup Tweak did the job. Alarm works perfectly ok now. I haven't got any problem for the last few days.

I think you will find that the alarm will not activate if you manually put the device in standby. The best way is to allow the XDA II to automatically set itself to standby. This is what I was doing.
This theory is being tested in a thread over at www.mtekk.com.au
Dave
wakes me every morning.
i havent applied any patches, have found that if you set your alarm and check the following boxes:
play sound,
repeat sound
display message
then it will work every time. It wakes me every morning!
I have found that missing some of these checks, or adding others, sometimes causes probs.
however, often the pda itself is 'locked' needing a softboot before i go to bed at night. This is annoying, since the xdaII is having more lockups than the xda1. Best to soft reboot before settling down for the night
Alarms work for me
I did several test yesterday after running the two fixes listed in the top post. I did set the alarm 5 minutes ahead and manually turned the PPC off.
The alarms worked everytime (once I enabled sounds for alarms, it was turned off) Make sure you are not using a 'silent' profile while you test.

Michael

XDA II 2003 SE Alarm

Maybe we have most powerful device for digital asistance , but still it cant wake up me when i want :? , it is very ironik i have this device but i must use mechanic clock for wake up on time ... Is there any solition except install spb time?
Reload,
1st time poster (old time lurker), so please bear if my data is old. Don't know if this is still usable - but when my XDA II was new i had to install a program called "Wakeup Tweak" or something like that. Thanks to this site and many other sites that helped 'patch' up the bugs of the device.
It made a few changes in the registry to 'allow' the device to wake up when an alarm goes off. Did a quick search here a link:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=876
Hope it's still usable - goodluck
Thank you Assisi , it looks like for 2003 , my device have 2003 se but i will try i hope it will work
I have found that if you disable the "vibrate" option for the alarm then it works fine.
SPB Time can make matters worse. When it's alarm goes off, it disables the sounds for Events (warnings, system events() and Notifications (alarms, reminders) until you click on "disable" on the little dialog window that comes up when SPB times alarm goes off. The problem is, sometimes it seems to "forget" to reenable these things which creates other annoyances. I'm not sure why SPB has included this "feature" but its enough to make me want to uninstall it sometimes.
this is funny/interesting, coz i'm using my xda2 default alarm feature daily, to wake me up at 5:30, and it works...
buzz
i have 2 xda2 in the household and both suffer from the same problem like the ones in 2003 roms. The first alarm of the day jus refuses to go off when its suppose to ... well occasionally it does but alot of times it just doesnt.
It use to be a simple registry hack to extend the suspend time for housekeeping at midnight everyday, can anyone confirm this is the same issue for 2003SE ?
And by the way, does anyone have a link to the registry hack ... i did a quick search and didnt find what i was looking for
I used to suffer from the same problem on my old rom (1.66). When i upgraded to 2.06, it seemed to be fixed.
Anyway, check here to fix it. It worked for me on the old rom.

Alarm Clock for wizard Help

hi, i have problems with wizards alarm and i was wondering,
dose any one have or know any good third party alarm clock software?
someone else in another forum here asked a similar question. My favorite bar none is Chronos. I've used it for a year or so and have never once missed an alarm
where do i get this Chronos?
where do i get this Chronos?
Firstly, ever heard of google?
Secondly, don't bother it will not wake up the device from standby so it is effectively useless.....
Says who it won't wake a device out of standby? I use my wizard as an alarm clock to wake me up in the morning. After 8 hours it is most definitely in standby.
Agreed, google is your friend, you should be able to find a trial of Chronos on any of the normal pocket pc software sites (handango, pocketgear, etc.)
Try the trial and see if it fixes your problem... I would be willing to bet that it does.
Errmmm,
I have the trial version (so it is the latest and not cracked or illegal); it does not wake the K-Jam out of standby (especially when snooze feature is used). This is also the case for my wife's XDA Mini S as well. Alarms are a well known problem on the Wizard; you must be a lucky one.
Hi,
Give pTravelAlarm a shot...
It's really great... it does wake up the device - and it turns it into an effective alarm clock. Really nice. Using it on all my business travels.
Google pTravelAlarm
Oh, and it also has a today plugin. Great little proggy.

WELL i have installed it. (pTravel Alarm) and it dose not wake up.
the simple way of doing this if anyone wants to use this software is that you use th wizards standard alarm to wake the wizard and then time it to set off after 1 min.
After my hardreset i did not install SPB pocketplus and my wizard never missed an alarm again. Although some people with pocketplus do not experience any alarm trouble i will stay away from it.
Also there is a free program called "check notifications" or something like it. It searches for duplicates/corruptions in your notification database. (probably responsible for the problems)
i'ts a standalone .exe file that you can copy to your ppc and then run from there. I heard it does wonders...
You know what, i will attach it to this post as an extra service

THANKS
if i remove the duplicate file will take currupt my Wizard?
eeehm i have no clue as to what you're asking here
But i guess the question is about the notification checker
just run it on your pda, you'll get a list of all your notifications (alarms), it will show the duplicates in red to delete.
the file will not take corrupt your wizard, but don't give your corruption wizard taking of the database

Another Alarm question--alarm goes off randomly

Hello,
I used to have an alarm clock set for 9.25am. I don't anymore. 9.25am appears NOWHERE in WM5 alarm settings. However every day at 9.25am my alarm goes off.
Is there a way to fix this without doing a hard reset? I tried searching the forum but wasn't able to find an answer.
I have an MDA with latest ROM from T-mobile's website.
Thanks!
You need to get the check notifications program.
Theres probably a stray entry in the notifications dB that makes your alarm go off.
Its not available on the developers website anymore, but am sure some kind sole will post it on here for you.

Alerts and Alarms
You have my sincerest sympathies. My Alpine model has the fun habit of doing the same thing... at 5:30 in the morning. I have absolutely no idea why it does this at seemingly random intervals (but always at the same time). If it carries on for much longer I'l have to hard-reset. But I've spent so much time and energy customising my Alpine and I will lose everything.
Andy
Thank matt1971!
I have used the checknotifications program and was able to remove the 9.25am alarm issue.
Even though this program clearly states that it works only on 2003 OS, I ran it on WM5 and it worked fine.

so after I removed all 9.25am references with CheckNotifications, the alarm still went off today.
Any further suggestions how to rid of this annoying issue?
Same issue
I am having the same issue as well at 6 am, which I set a few weeks ago to pick someone up at the airport. I then changed the clock for that particular alarm setting back to my normal time, 10 am. Now it goes off at 6 and 10.
One other irritating thing I noticed... my "5"minute snooze is only 1 minute.
So I am hoping that the alarm creates little registry values that I can find and destroy! lol
I'll get back if I find anything

TP2 alarm problem

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with the alarm on my TP2.
Once I set an alarm on it, and next day change the time or turrn the alarm off, the original alarm still continues to sound.
For eg:
Day 0 - I set alarm for 7 am for Day 1 - it will ring at 7 am
Day 1 - at night I change the alarm to say 715 am - it will ring both at 7 am and 715 am on Day 2
Day 2 - say I disable all alarms - on Day 3 it will still ring both on 7 am and 715 am (and hence spoil my weekend)
has anyone else also encountered this???
Pls help.
I am using unbranded TP2 (Singapore)
ROM 1.19.707.2 (51489) WWE (Even after upgrading the ROM to new SEA the problem persists)
Please help.
Exactly what I was going to create a thread about today!
This is doing my head in. I have to be up all week at 4:15am, so I set my alarm for 7 days. At the weekend, I'm off work, so I turn them off. Low and behold, at 4:15am on Saturday morning I'm awoken by the same alarms.
I used to know of a program or method where you could see a queue of notifications, and you could delete them if you had invalid entries, but I've forgotten it now. I think the TP2 may be making invalid repeat entries to this queue that are not affected by turning alarms on/off in the normal way.
1:55am
Hi all
I am using Klaxon which does not seem to have this problem as it always uses the same WM alarm. However, I don't know whether or not it's related but my phone frequently crashes at 1:55am, hence no alarm. Has anybody else experienced this problem?
Cheers

Alarm problems
I haven an unbranded TP2 and have the same problems for couple of weeks now... I've tried everything. Forst I've written to HTC but they didn't came up with an answer other than trying to keep the phone as clean as possible. They told me it's not a known issue... as while reading through different forums I didn't feel to bee alone !
Reading through the net told me that if you use 3rd party software the problem would be solved, so I bought G-alarm wich seemed to be the best available porgram. It went well for 2-3 weeks when there again my phone missed an alarm in the morning. The alarms do sound the moment I turn the phone on.
I read through the net again to find that the problem would could be due to a notification que wich is too long... I bought another piece of software, SkTools that can clean the notification que and be set to do so daily on automated basis. It went well for 1 week again... Yesterday and today the phone skipped again the wakeup alarms...
Writing to HTC many times didn't help so this afternoon I will try to flash my phone and try the ROM update wich is available on the HTC site. I'm sure the problem will be cured for a couple of weeks... but after? I'll let you guys know...

Sorry, no solution, but why not file a bug report with HTC or Microsoft?
If we all just keep going around the issues, software makers will never find out about the problems or fixe them.
Just an idea
I did already twice. only answer they gave was to hard reset the device an install no other software... that's why I by one of the world's most advanced phones? I don't think so. They keep telling me it is not a known issue... ?
As dommers and vasra tried the ROM update and it didn't work I'm doubting to go through the pain?
Does any of you have very regular (10 times a day) an error on the opera9.exe file?
Can you guys tell me wich 3rd party software is installed to see if it maybe is something wich is screwed up by 3rd party installation?
Does anybody know if the problem is known in a custom 6.5 rom as I would try one of those? In that case wich is the best and most stable available?
Thx
I think it has to be an HTC / TFO issue...my Kaiser has no issues and is same software/notification queues..i have found HTC to be very arrogant on the phone..but i will log a few calls with them ..maybe you guys could too...and they may start to look at it..
i spoke to HTC - they were ,quite frankly, useless. I informed them of the problem and after going through a load of useless checks that the alarm was on they said they would put feedback down but he wasn't sure it would get to the developers. Complete waste of time. Makes me think of buying an iphone. At least that works. grr...
Best Alarm App on Earth: http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=download
use windows alarm not touchflo 3d
hi guys, the problem is that you use touchflo 3d's alarm setting, right?
let me tell you, touchflo 3d alarm doesnt work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so just save your time, dont use it, it's useless,i dont know what is problem with rom designers.
The real working alarm is windows own one,go to settings---sounds and notifications---notifications---events----(pull down)reminder.
At last,if you want to use your own mp3 music as alarm sound, pls create \Storage card\My documents, copy all your mp3 into My documents folder.

Pocket Mechanic allows you to examine & optionally clean up the notification queue: I used to get a similar thing on my XDA IIi way back in the day
hope this helps

My alarm (set under TF3D) works great.
You are lucky you don't have an iphone, that damn thing used to make me late all the time.
I had this problem with my kaiser.
After a week that I go crazy, I founded that the problem caused by an early version or iGo8.
Are you using iGo8?
If yes, update it.
Custom ROMs
The problem also occurs in all custom ROMs...I have tried them all...NRG, RoMeOS, Miri etc.
I'm pretty sure this is a Windows issue. I used to see it on my Titan, particularly when I would change time zones.
What I would do on the Titan was to use Memaid to remove the classic time based notifications (which are your alarm settings), and then regenerate them. Worked like a charm!
if you use sk tools to clear notifications que automatically at 00:30, that should solve the problem

Same here. Got my TP2 yesterday and instantly flashed EnergyROM, and it woke me up just as I expected it this morning.
But reading this thread now kinda makes me worry I'll be late for work tomorrow... Or being kicked out of the bed on saturday...
Well, I guess I'll just hope it works.
My xv6800 did that alarm thing. Clearing the duplicates from the notifications que fixed it. good luck,
