Hi guys,
I was wondering if my phone is defect or not! Because when I charge my phone and use it, after a while it gets warm and at some point hangs. I then have to manually reboot it (holding powerbutton, even once had to pull the battery out) and then most of the time it hangs A. on the charging screen or B. on the first screen when you boot the phone. When you have finally booted the phone, it will last for a max of 2 minutes before freezing again. If you pull the back cover of and unplug the charger and let it cool down it's ok again! So I guess it is broken? Can one of you guys please try to replicate it? Btw The phone is not really hot i think, you can still hold it fine. Any help/suggestions/whatever would be appeciated Btw I'm Dutch so excuse my bad english
Sounds like a hardware defect to me. If your phone isn't more than two weeks old you should ask for a replacement.
Your english is not that bad at all, at least from another non-native speaker's point of view
It is more than two weeks old and I already sent it once for repair because it froze ect I just tried to update to froyo (trough KIES) but it said it worked but the phone still says that it's 2.1! I don't get it!
Froyo isn't officially released yet.
Everyone here is using a leaked beta/pre-release version (which I highly recommend AGAINST doing)
Myabe froyo beta broke it

Hi all,
i have a serious problem with my MDA Vario II (HTC TyTN),
just have this device since 2 weeks, and last week i flashed a rom onto my device, its a nameless windows 6.1 rom...
the flash went perfect, the device worked flawlessly!
the device has been working fine all week, i had it hard reset for like 2 times.
now i did another hard reset, everything seemed to go just fine, battery was 100% device nicely came into the bootloader mode, nicely went resetted, perfectly booted letting me setup the device and calibrate the stylus right after this the device resetted itself and after the windows logo it just went into white screen, i waited this out for like 15 minutes and then i pressed soft reset... this white screen was the last thing i have seen on my screen so far (2 days ago now) the only thing my device does is give me a red led when it is connected to the wall charger or usb and the battery is not in the device
as long as my battery is in the device it does absolutely nothing, no sign of life!! not even a red led!
is there anything i can do about this? or do i need to send it away to t-mobile?
i really hope someone can help me with this one!
cheers ChilleCharlie
ps: normally when i press both the soft keys and the reset it would take me into bootloader mode, this doesnt even work no more!
i have been reading on this forum for 2 days now i just have no idea what this problem could be! can somebody please help me! i think it might be my accupack is that possible for a 2 weeks old phone?
is a herm100/200/300 device capable of booting without a battery in it?
cheers Charlie
ok here comes the test result, i was planning on shipping my phone back to the supplier but instead of this i tested my battery with a electrometer guess what? 0,04 volts are on my lipo pack!! OMG battery sudden death! never had this before in my life! now i know i can fix this battery pack did that before with some years old li ion and some months old lipo's but since i am under warranty i hell yea am gonna make use of it! this pack will be sent back to t-mobile in the meanwhile ill buy my ass a new one so i can use my phone
thanks for everything this website is great even thow i havent had 1 reply yet, thanks to you guys i got wm6.1 and will get it back running now! tytytyty btw i heard something about hardspl beeing more safe? i guess i should flash it onto my device or is that risky to do ?
Sorry, didn't see your post until today. Might not have been able to help anyway.. Glad to hear you sorted that out OK though..
As for Hard SPL, its a must to have on your Hermes before flashing as it will make it possible to recover from a bad flash. Its NOT a guarantee but it is a safety net to help when things can/do go wrong.
Would also suggest using the sd card method for rom flashing as its safer than via pc(Hard SPL takes about 2 secs to upgrade so I do that from the pc BUT you can do this via sd card too).
Welcome and happy flashing...
thank you for that information once i get my device running again it will be the first thing ill install even thow i dont think my problem is rom-related anyway, today my battery has been tested in a different phone, as i thought it was completely dead! also my phone has been tested with another battery... well my phone is completely dead as well! i think it has had a short circuit somewhere inside which would explain why it doesnt do anything with or without battery installed...
i do not know for sure thow.. but thank god i still have my warranty.. althow im not sure about this since my phone wasnt running official firmware.. but i guess that has nothing to do with hardware malfunction now does it? so ill be sending it back to the supplier tommorow damn i cant stand not having this device working
cheers chillecharlie
From HTC Support, after getting annoyed of the poor performance of the HD2
Hi Edward, thanks for your email. There is a ROM update for your device imminent. we are just waiting for it to be uploaded to the website. in the meantime, there was an update back in january which you might like to try unitl the new one is released: http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=856 best regards, Pete Whiteley HTC
Im currently using the ROM you linked to and my phone seems to run fine!
Im just waiting for the new 1.72 rom to be released for non operator HD2!
its **** on mine, always runs slow, does my head in! hopefully have a desire on order
There's 2x HD2s in our house, both which have been updated to VF UK 1.72 ROM.
It may just be a coincidence, but soon after they both started acting weirdly, with one now not booting up being off for repair (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=638210&page=4).
The other only booting up on a charger but being stuck in a cycle of boot, HTC white screen, vibrate, power off, power on and repeat

I had the above cycling problem when plugged in when using a replacement battery i got off ebay... my standard battery or the other spare battery didn't have this problem..
Could be a bad flash if a ROM runs badly. These things can happen.
Thanks for the suggestions
madindehead - Thanks, but original battery, so perhaps unlikely?
stefanclark - Interesting. Not at all up to speed on ROM flashing. Can you explain how I can do that on the constantly rebooting handset, or point me in the direction of thread that gives me step by step instructions, please?
Corrupted Data sent to a device during flashing of ROM can result in what you described. You might want to check your computer to see if there are problems with your computer.
Try running MEMTEST86+ for a couple of cycles on your computer just to be sure. For 1 device to break after updating the firmware would be bad luck. For more than 1 device breaking after updating, some thing is wrong some where.
Do you experience BSOD in Windows or Kernel Panic in Linux? If so, run MEMTEST86+ or your favorite RAM test programs for a couple of cycles to see if it is the culprit.
Phew!
Well, it seems like it was a bent battery pin, as per yarod_g14's post on page 1 of this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=658944. Bizarre really! HD2 now sat happily on my desk, charging away.
Sounds nice, hope it is true...
Too many days only to upload a ROM to their servers, don't you think?
Best regards
It's true...

Yes, it is true. I’ve not had any major hang ups on my device since it came back, and have been using the little red reset button inside the battery cover if I need to reboot. Oh, and I have the ‘soft rest’ app on HD2 Tweaks as well. No repeat of the past problems, so it must have been a battery pin issue.
Hello peeps first post and not a great one, my 3 week old galaxy note has decided to go crazy on my it says that my phone is charging but its not connected to any power supply, but when i turn the phone off and on again its fixed but wont charge!! Hi HDmadman. I am also new to the Gnote, bought mine 2 weeks ago. It seems to be a German version, as the original ROM came with some German applications.
After 3 days of use, my GNote started going crazy with sort of similar behavior as yours (charging without charging) and others that were even worst, like turning on by itself, opening applications by itself, etc.
It was on KKA rom and decided to go to stock KL7 to try to fix the problem, after the factory reset did not worked (as with you). After this ROM update, which I made almost 1 week ago, the phone is behaving well, with no "ghosts". (however I am still scared about what I saw on it that time and am still checking it very closely every time trying to find some strange behaviour like those).
What ROM version are u using ? Possibly a ROM update can help you as it seems to worked for me.
Cheers

Charging without plugged also happened to me.. i was partying outside(new year) and there was a lot of fog an humidity. it was constantly vibrating (mute) saying it was charging/off charging loop, and when i touched the screen it would start vibrating non stop. scared the hell out of me!! that night taking the battery of for a couple minutes fixed it. The next day plugging in the usb cable on the pc it would charge but windows wasn't detecting the mobile (no usb sound when connecting original samsung cable). i cleaned the connectors of the phone with a dry toothbrush and imediattly got fixed. Has never happened to me again. But got me pretty scared though.. hoping it won't happen again!
My HD2 with the TyphooN CM7 v3.5.4 Rom one day just frozen. Befre that its ran 2 or 3 months smootly. After when I da a soft reset I got a "white screen" (without the logo). So I did a hard reset and this time when I started the pda its show me the HTC logo just with half jellow background. Of course its stucked again in this state. I started again in bootloader mode and tryed to connect the computer. Its worked but thats day I had no time for this. So I just took the accumulator out and I put the HD2 aside. Whe I arrived back I just put back the accu and started the phone... and its ran again.
Next day the problem appeared again. The phone frozen so many different position. Showed me white screen and after the hard reset is ran but frozen the androud logo. Hardreset, run but frozen the screen lock. Hard reset and its showed me the starting HTC logo but its started to put slowly horizontal black lines and once its did a strange sound to. The long story short: I did the same rituale but this time its not worked. So I taked the contact with the store about the garantie. And started to set back the phone in the original state (wipe, factory rom back, SPL back) but I coudn't. The pda is droped me errors all the time. I cant change back even the HSPL to SPL. So I just took the accumulator out and went to sleep that day...
Next day morning was a same story. I put back the accu and the phone did everything what I want. I succesfully wiped the old memory, installed the official rom and set back the SPL. Ready to send back to the store... And I wanted to testing it but this time the pda didnt frozen. Its running.. yeah like the windows phone 6.5 usually, nothing any special (hovever the wifi bacome shorter than the android). Two days and nothing.
So I want to ask somebody because Im still think there is a hardware problem. Its can be possibel there is a harware problem and bacause the WP6.5 not use the phone as much as an Android do the problem is not appeared jet.
Or this was a software problem and I just have to start everything from the first step (I dont like the wp6.5)
There is any test program for the WP6.5 wich can be test your hardware?
Thank you for any help, and thank you to read this little bit long post.
Hey,
I'm sorry, but what's an accumulator ?
Another thing, were you running stuff on your device that made it run hotter than usual ?
Sometimes, overheating may cause unpredictable issues.

Oh! Thanks for the answer so much
Accumulator = Battery. Sorry for the word, english is really not my native .
I didn't feel its hotter than usual. Most of the time the phone is hotter a little bit but also when I run the official wp6.5 system.
Today I tried to put wp7 on the phone but this system still not love my SD cards (I bought a new Kingston just for this but stil no) so I tryed a new ICS rom. Its runed nice and I just think my problem solved (I started to belive there was some kind software crash) but now again frozen (when I trired to open the galery its frozen).
Maybe the problem is the overheating. I have to wait every time a few hours when I can do anything whit the machine. Now I reinstall the offical rom again again but I dont want to use the HD2 with the WP6.5 system and I still dont think this situation is naturally. Can you give me a good hint how can I test the hardware above the WP6.5?

Don't give up. And by the way, gallery crashes are ICS issues and are not being caused by your device, be happy. .
Try to run a CPU-consumer application/game and see if it overheats/reboots or freezes. Most HD games can do that, or try browsing the internet for about 30 minutes using 3G .

I put back the original rom. And the phone was totaly freezed when I entered the gallery and now cant move tought the HTC logo since a day. Its did this many time but with the android and not the wp6.5.
But now I have reason to send back. Set back the original statement was succesfull fortunetly. I know its a really good phone and I hope this issues just bacause I get a wrong one.
Hello guys,
I have a very strange but really bad problem: my omnia7 can't stay in standby.
When I press the power button, to turn off the screen and go in standby (so not the full turn off), my Omni7 wakes up alone, going on the unlock screen. In the same time, the phone rings with the ring that is played when you connect the phone for charging.
I've tried reboot, reset, hardreset, removing the sim-card, turning on/off "battery saver options" ... still that issue :crying:
Anyone has an idea?
I've flashed with a cooked rom (xda-devs Omnia7 Tango V4.0)
my current config :
OS version : 7.10.8779.8
hard version : 3.1.0.4
soft radio version : 2424.11.7.2
hard radio version : 0.0.0.800
loader version : 4.10.1.9
SOC version : 0.36.2.0
Thanks to any ideas, because that problem is killing me
my phone started doing this late last night too! i thorght it was because rain had gone into the power socket but if others are having same problem at the same time maybe not?
has your phone been exposed to water at all recently? is your phone jailbroken? cant realy think of other reasons
the problem stops when the phone is plugged in. is there anything that can trick the phone to thinking it is on charge? I have wphtweaks installed but the options there are not able to stop it
Hi,
I can't remember if my phone has been wet :/ I take care, so my phone never received water. But when I'm outside, under the rain, it's possible.
Today it was better, just a few times my phone wakes up alone.
I'll give you feedback in the next days. Let me know about yours
I managed to trick my phone into silence a few times earlier but it was difficult and then only lasted 5-10 minutes.
if yours didnt get wet it seems unlikely to do with water but I left mine ontop of the aga after removing the battery and over a relativly cool part. A few hours later and it seems to be working fine now.
I will report back if the issue arises again.
EDIT: Ahhhh!! STOP THE RINGING!!! started again this morning
Mine too !
This morning ... the ringing awakening problem !!!!!
But it was better this afternoon.
Really I don't know what happens.
Are we only two persons in the xda world with this problem????
this is realy weird now! mine was doing it in the morning but since about 12pm - 1pm it has been fine! I feel like its something to do with an installed homebrew app maybe.
I also have a custom rom but mine was flashed a long time ago and much older than yours. not sure which version
EDIT (1:10pm GMT): no problems since yesterday
EDIT2 (1:30pm GMT): again i spoke too soon!
Did you guys get this problem sorted out? Had the same problem recently and tried all the suggestions in other threads (bend USB pin, Reset/Restore Device etc) but nothing fixed it, so after being woken at 3am by constant charging tone, took to T-Mobile shop. They said it was a software problem. I said I'd tried all that and the most likely cause I'd seen on the internet was a duff USB port.
Anyway, T-Mobile sent it off for repair and 7 days later - returned and fixed. The repair sheet said software upgrade, but the phone had been reset to bog standard Phone 7, so unlikely. The T-Mobile repair tracking site (excellent) which shows blow-by-blow trace of what and where, showed initial software upgrade/no fix but I used their "contact us" facility to suggest a USB problem and by magic the repair tracking log showed a replacement USB port.
BTW - had to resort to an iphone and HTC android while Omnia was off for repair. Now I know why I like Phone 7 and can't wait for 8. The iphone GUI is so last decade and Android GUI is really just a copy of Windows 6.5 with XDA developers' tweaks isn't it.
Hi Wuzzok,
what do you mean by "bend USB pin" ?
Anyway, it seems like it's finished for me. I didn't get tht strange bug (soft/hard bug???) for a very long time. I just hope it's really over !
Same problem
Hi Folks,
I have the same problem, too. Yesterday afternoon on my way home the phone started ringing with the USB plug sound and always started up itself from standby mode.
As I have a custom ROM (mi7ROM) I first thought it could be a problem with the ROM - although I could not really believe it since it was running stable for months now. I flashed it again and nothing changed - still ringing and starting up itself
I managed to get rid of the sound by deleting the entry in the registry key "Local Machine\Current User\ControlPanel\Sounds\BatteryCharging\Sound" but that does not solve the real problem.
After reading here and in some other WP7 blogs I am sure that this is a hardware problem with the USB plug unit. As my phone is just 11 months old I opened an online ticket at "SAMSUNG online repair service" who promise to answer in the next 24 hours. So I just have to wait and see...

Samsung sent me an offer to send the phone in for repair - but what should I say, the problem solved itself. For two days now the phone works normal again. So I had to cancel the service call .
mine hasnt done it in a long time either. looks like its just a temporary thing. I wonder what caused it! For me it started after I was using my phone in the rain and the usb slide was open so thats my suspect.
You may be right. Mine is "quiet" now, since a long time. Water may be the cause.
Update
Hi folks,
mine is mostly quiet again, too. Only few incidents "happen" but they do not last very long - only a few minutes. It's somehow spooky but I do not want to send it in to Samsung now when the error it not constantly reproducible.
I agree with you that there might be a correlation with humidity although I am sure that it did never get wet and I almost always keep the USB-shutter closed. Who knows ...
Sent it in
Finally I sent it in for repair today. It started ringing permananently two days ago...
Now I have to wait and see.
Final state
Okay, I received it back... and it works.
First they did nod find and could not reproduce the failure and wanted to send it back - only with a new flashed image - but fortunately the technician called me and I could describe the problem again. After waiting a few hours, the fault appeared again and they decided to change the mainboard.
I hope, that's all
Hello,
Me too it makes me after my omnia 7 is dropped in water, but problem solved.
Me too
