Hi all I am relatively new to this forum and I wanna ask all the developers a question. Is there a way to reconfigure the camera in 1.6 ROMs to record 480p video.i've seen 480p working on a Nokia with 2 megapixel camera.
Keep all the good work.
Yeah, i'm very interested too with this.
Anyone can help?

In a rooted X10, it is possible to bump up the video compression bitrate to get better videos? I didnt have time to look about it in my phone, but anybody was curious looking for those type of settings, maybe in a config file lost inside the system.
Don't you mean - IS IT possible?
What do you mean in regards to video quality?
Playback (AVI etc)
Recording compression
Youtube
Streaming
What?
Wrong section BTW, so await this being moved!
Please, sorry about my english. But trying again, my question concerns about the video quality, the sharpness from every single frame. When you have a low bitrate, you get a lot of compression, a lot of artifacts, a blurry image. We know that X10 camera is good enough to get sharp images, but the low video bitrate make the final video looks not so great.
Please, dont start flaming talking what you think about the video quality, I just trying to find any file, any config to bump up the bitrate, reduce the compression from those video files.
This thread makes sense here, in development. I looking for a internal config setting, so we need people interested in android internals looking this thread.
Thanks
no it doesn't if you had developed a way to do this then you could post here but as its a question then im moving it to general
anyway, if you think that here is better to get a answer, ok. I dont wanna mess up with people that looks the development area just looking for root or froyo.
If you wait a few weeks, you get 720p video recording anyway, so why start looking to improve the current capabilities at this point?
Here is the old thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814740
Any progress or information on 720p recording?
seriously, why did you start a new one, when theres an exact same thread...
and no progress afaik
Ok heres the big question, and yes THIS THREAD WILL BE DELETED ONCE MY QUESTION IS ANSWERED.
The other threads are old and don't have clear answers, soo I would like to know if anyone is working on 720p recording for any HD2 android, has there been any progress? or will HD2 android ever get 720p recording?
Thanks to people who answer this question
Not yet.
Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834010&highlight=720p
AFAIK Windows Phone 7 on HD2 does 720p video recording, that means hardware is capable and android should get the capability soon.
Yes its coming! i'm sure
just be patient!
ill give it 2 months at the max
YES YES YES
no realley.. yes.
the progress is that the wp7s rom has 720p recording SO the hardware is capable
but... there aren't any drivers for android
be patient developers are building drivers for it!
and thats not easy i think :S
Thanks for the quick replys guys, XDA is awsome for getting questions answered
Is this old because I'm using a nand Rom which support it that is gingerbread based........... or am I miss understanding? I recorded a video and checked its property and it was 720 and something will report back with more details and exact rom

A lot of roms have the option to record in 720p, however, the result is a video of, i think, a mostly green screen. Either way, it is a video with no semblance of what was recorded.
odds are the res values where mixed and its 480x720

Hi i'm new to developing and modding but a long time user of android. I've looked absolutly EVERYWHERE on this site for a camera mod for ICS 4.0.4 (ROM tiger 2.4) (KERNEL devil3_0.74). I have seen it for GB and FY but none for ICS why is this? so i would like to ask the great people of this forum to point me in the right direction if possible? i'm unsure if this is the right thread? if it's not please tell me where to repost it, any help is muchly appreciated.
So what i'm looking for is a camera hack that will increase video bitrate from 10mbps to 20-24mbsp (if possible, i'm sure it is as hardware is more than capable?) and recording audio in videos from 64kbps to 192kbps (more if possible but i know for sure that 192kbps is an easy accomplishment (sorry for spelling) for this hardware)
as i said ANY help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Haven't heard of any video mods yet, but for audio I can point you towards voodo sound (e.g. in semaphore kernel). Don't think you can change the bitrate, but you can configure the audio chip to oversample the input signal and also the microphone gain.
Just report back if you found something regarding video
There is a thread in android development called "hack i9000 camera i9000 FROYO &GB" check it out you'll understand. I've been working on making and moddifying my own source but its harder than I thought. I know its possible to change samplerate on the camera directly from 16000 to 44100 and the bitrate from 64kbps too 192kbps, and the video quality should be able to 17-24 mbps bitrate as the hardware can decode and encode 1080p so there is no limit at what we can achieve in 720p quality (I've done my reasearch). But I'm only a begginer (noob) at modifying files and development ATM. If anyone could move this to the DEV section I would be very greatfull. Cheers for the reply =D.

tried it, but audio same as default camera, even after setting it to higher quality!
When I had Xperia X8, I change video and sound bitrate by editing media_profiles.xml
I've tried that also - same result, default low quality audio.

Hi, I have been looking everywhere but never found a good answer. I have seen some people posting videos on YouTube with the OnePlus Two filming at 1080p 60fps. My interest isn't in filming in real 60fps but I had 60fps 1080p slow motion on my OnePlus One and was really satisfied with the final results.
Can anyone please tell me how can I enable this on my OnePlus Two? Any app? Tried CameraNextMod (this one blocks the slow motion function when in 1080p), Cinema FV-5 (which I use mostly and it does give me the option to film how I want but it still records at 30fps), Open Camera and a couple more I don't remember and the original camera app only allows for 720p 120fps but it doesn't satisfy me at all, especially the quality of the video.
I would really appreciate some help on this subject and sorry if I posted in the wrong place or something like that. I'm new posting around here.
