Buttons all mixed up on phone - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I have perfectly moded my htc magic from rogers to cyanogens 6.0 stable version.. with no issues at all it runs like a charm.. all info on my phone is in my sig
But when i tried doing the same thing to my wifes phone (the same htc magic)
after i get past this process :
fastboot flash radio Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17.img <<< flashes fine
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.2005.img <<< flashes fine
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H.img <<< flashes fine
fastboot erase system -w <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Failed says does not exist
fastboot reboot-bootloader
This will reboot me into your bootloader/fastboot. at this stage im just confirming that i have 3.22.20.17 and 1.33.2005 which i do ...
so i boot into recovery to run my 3 zips ( 6.0, EBI1 and google apps) allready on my sd card...
And this is where i discover that my buttons on my phone (home, menu, back, search) are all mixed up..
I have to push home to apply a zip in recovery, but doing it does nothing ....pressing menu applys the zip... so i continue to flash all three zips using the menu key (should be home key) thinking hmmm strange...
i reboot phone and wait for boot... cyanogens6.0 installs no problems... but all my keys are still all mixed up... very annoying..
how can i sort this issue out on wifes phone so im not sleeping on the couch!!!! LMAO
thanks in advance

no ideas people??? any help much appriciated!!!

Did you find a solution to this, I have the exact same problem.
After flashing Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17 and hboot-1.33.2010 on my 32A Magic my buttons are all mixed up.

Knackered my gf's magic - need some help!

Hi all,
I've been trying to install the amon RA recovery rom on mg gf's magic, but I'm stuck in a loop.
I've got a non perfect SPL loaded which boots into cupcake
Sapphire PVT 32B Ship S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-3.22.20.17
However when I try to run fastboot boot recovery.img it restarts and gets stuck on the splash screen.
I've re-made the sd card to be a gold card and I've still got the issue.
I've also tried running fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and I get Infosignature checking... FAILED )remote : signature verify fail).
Can anyone help me sort this?
Many thanks
will
You're using a non-engineering SPL, so all fastboot commands will fail. 1.33.2005 has fastboot enabled and you should be able to flash it from your currect state, however I was on .26i radio when I flashed it so I don't know for certain.
EDIT: Since you're on cupcake you should be able to use flashrec to flash the recovery image, so not engineering SPL required!
Hi Adrian,
thanks so much for replying.
In the meantime I've tried another sappimg and this has taken me to 1.33.2010 which has let me fastboot flash recovery... but when I try to boot into recovery (hold home and restart) all i get is the htc magic spash screen
The other issue is that the rom ive now got is lacking the google tools and therefore market, so i cant get flashrec
Any thoughts?
thx
No problem about missing the market, do "adb install *Drag FlashRec APK here*", that will get it installed.
How long did you hold down home+power to get to recovery? The first time I did it after loading up Amon Ra's 1.7.0 it took me holding them for around 1.5-2 minutes before it finally booted in.
Hiya,
I waited about 5 mins or so
I've now got flashrec installed... looking for what to do next?
Here. Start at step 12 assuming you've already got a recovery image.
Hmm, just tried that and it flashes in an instant (too quick tbh!), so im wondering if this is because its already got the recovery on it from when i did it via fastboot
After restarting and holding home im still getting just the splash screen
Is there a way to view what is on the /recovery/ partition, or is there a reason its not wanting to boot into it?
thx
Which recovery image are you using?

He can't complete any fastboot commands since he doesn't have an engineering SPL.

I did tell him how to get one ;-P
Hopefully it won't come to that. I think he's loading the wrong recovery image.
recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
Try re-downloading the recovery image from here and try flashing again. If it doesn't work I think your going to have to try going Adrian's route.
Better yet, you can get it from step 5 here for a quicker download.
Also, when you were in FlashRec running the "/sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img" command did you change recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.3.img to match the filename of your recovery image?
I've just managed to update the recovery, but strangely this is using the 32A recovery.. and not 32B.. but I've got a vodafone Magic
So I can now get into recovery and have followed the steps or dangerSPL, followed by cyanogen mod + gapps, but not i cant get it to fully start up and im stuck on splash screen
V confused now.. just checked in hboot and its still showing sapphire pvt 32b eng s-off H
Hboot 1.76.2007
radio 3.22.20.17
looks like the gf's not having a mobile tomorow.. oh dear im in trouble!
any ideas again much appreciated!
thx
Can you run any fastboot commands?
Yes I can now run fastboot commands and use the recovery tool
thx
Hi all,
hope to get some more help, sorry!!
After looking more into this it seems that one of the previous images i put on the 32b phone was a 32a radio... hence the issue with putting on the recovery image for the 32b not working.
So... i downloaded myTouch-radio-2_22_23_02.zip and using the recovery did an update from zip.. now however the phone boots and all i get is a picture of a box with an arrow pointing to an android robot (see attached!)
At this rate its looking like i need to buy a new phone!
cheers all

[Q] Is my magic completely bricked ?

I tried to change to Cyanogenmod 6 but during the procedure it does not boot anymore.
Here is what i did (followed instructions on the CNM wiki)
Here is what I did
From stock I went to a 6.35 radio and 3peisense rom a college of mine recommended.
Batery life lowered drastically --> tried to load CNM 6
As explained in the wiki, I did
o Download the [| 3.22.20.17 radio]
o Download the [| 1.33.2005 SPL]
o Download the latest Amon_RA recovery from [here]. Get the H version. Not the G. H. Not G. H. Not G.
o Check md5 sums
fastboot flash radio Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.2005.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot reboot-bootloader
After that the phone does not boot anymore, the display remains black,
and I get no response to adb devices or fastboot devices commands
When removing and replacing the battery and put the phone on the charger,
the orange charging led lights up, when I phush the power, power+home or power+ back buttons,
the led goes out and there is no further reaction from the phone.
Any ideas why this has happened, and more importantly, how to get it up and running again ?
Sounds like your bricked.
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Yes, but what did I do wrong ?
I'll try to have it replaced by warranty.
Did you try to enter fastboot? Volume down+power?
If that also fails something was not correct with the spl you flashed. . If it came in a zip file you extracted it not renamed it correct?

[Q] MT3G 1.2 -the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly at startup

Hi,
I have a tmobile mytouch 3g 1.2 (3.5mm jack phone). I tried to root my phone and it failed during the SYSTEM---UnZipping process. (it stuck there forever). I then looked at options of unrooting it. When I apply SAPPIMG.zip it says Main Version Older! Update Fail!
Then I reboot the phone in recovery mode (tried to reset to factory settings and then reboot). The phone gives me the below error upon startup. The only thing i can see is an notification bar.
the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. "FORCE CLOSE"
Please can someone help me how to get my phone working? Appreciate all your help!
If you go to tmobile.com then go to there forum under android development you will see a topic called how to unroot the mytouch. In that topic they have a link for the original sappimg .. download to your zip cars in the root of the card (no folders) then just boot into hboot and apply the sappimg. I have done it many times so I know it works. Then when you go to root your just us the universal androot method. Feel few to pm me i

Type this in fastboot:
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
Then we can try to see if we can update it.
If not, you can always try to flash RUU.
The system starts, that's a good thing -> you have adb access!
Just don't go around and flash all kind of sapphire.nbh/zip...
Wait intil you have the right info :0)
I have had this problem and solved it. I would either get this acore stopped working error or just a loop in the boot screen. I think what caused this is there is not enough internal room for the ROM and gapps. Make sure you wipe everything. Do you have a nandroid backup? Can you get into recovery? Which recovery do you have installed? Do this, make a goldcard. Use fastboot to reroot the phone because you may have halfway unrooted it and made root useless. Boot into recovery and wipe. Install from sd any MyTouch ROM without Gapps. This should get you into the OS and now you can use other methods of getting your phone back. When I got here I used nandroid backup to get my phone back to a date it was when it worked and have had no problems since.

i did not take any nandroid backup ...i got into revovery boot...but whn i did the wipe clean option and reboot i get this error.
to make a gold card i would need to have the USB debugging enabled right? I am not able to go past the error screen (Home does not work, settings does not work )
and when i run the adb devices command, it does not display my devices. (But i have the number noted down when i tried to root the phone which failed...)
is there any other way to enable the USB Debugging as I am not able to open settings or even see anything on my phone...?
Would there be any option that's something like doing a System Restore to an earlier date on Windows OS on the computer?
please let me know the next steps...appreciate all of your help...
It's driver related.
Fix the drivers and try again to run the commands.

Well you have to...
In fastboot mode this command shall give you the device nr .
Code:

If not, the drivers are still bad!
You could also try to do a HARD RESET from hboot ( volume - together with power)...

OK....
Let's get the facts right.
You tried to root with wrong guide.
The sapphire.zip/nbh image you used if for the 32A.
How do i know that ?
Well the main version nr tells me that you have flashed this:
2.53.707.2 SEA WWE test-signed (from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403)
That's why you have troubles!
The solution....
I need all your fastboot info.. ALL.
Then i can figure out what to do. Or else i will work in the dark...

Yes...
You have the right radio/spl combo. That's good.
The problem is that your main version is set to high.
If you try to flash any RUU for the 1.2 magic, you will get main-version older error...
Even if you use a goldcard.
Do you still have access to adb?
Even for a little... then we can flash a custom recovery and get the system back.
Even if your system don't start up... as long you can boot more then 20 sec and you don't get reboots.
If not, then we have to flash a 32A sappimg.zip using a goldcard.
From there we flash custom recovery. Then eng spl. Then flash system, boot, userdata. Then flash the 1.2 spl... Then we are done :0)
So it's a long one... but first test if we have adb access.
Code:
adb devices

[Q] magic. only fastboot. boot recovery not working. sappimg not working

Hi.
i need some advice to see what can i do to get the phone working again.
case:
htc magic 32A.
ENG S-OFF H.
hboot-1.33.2005
radio.3.22.20.17.
i had cyangoenmod 6. working just fine! for several months. a couple a days ago (without installing anything new) it crashed, and now it gets stuck in the splash screen.
symptoms:
i can enter fastboot. fastboot devices lists the phone.
i can't enter recovery. fastboot boot recovery.img doesnt work, still stuck in splash screen. fastboot flash recovery.img doesnt work either.
i thought the next step would be a factory reset so i got a friend to copy the sappimg.zip on my sdcard and tried to run hboot mode, but it says NO IMAGE! when checking SAPPIMG.zip
should i use RUU? whats the procedure there?. from where i run it?. also i don't know whats the right one for my phone. i see this list: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403.
and fastboot getvar version-main gives me: 3.05.529.9. while CID gives BSTAR301
i dont see that exact version in the list, and the only one with that cid is 2.20.515.5 HTC Chile BrightStar/Entel. im a little confused here...
thanks for any help!.
the problem seems to be bigger. I decided to go with the RUU directly from Htc site. For my device, i gave my serial no. and downloaded the .exe for magic_brightstar. It did successfully updated everything (?), radio, hboot, recovery, system, splash....
But i start the phone and it is still stuck in the freaking init screen.
I don't understand, what else can i do?.
Can you enter the recovery now?
No. the recovery doesn't enter. still frozen.
I'm trying to have a working goldcard, but it has been a little tricky without another phone to convert the sd. I'm following what amon_ra suggested here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218. Because right now my hboot is locked (after running the factory RUU) and i can't run any of the flashing fastboot commands.
will post what happens...
ok the goldcard did its job, i have again eng spl with all fastboot flashing enabled. but i cant get into recovery yet, no matter what.
at this point i'm thinking on flashing the original hboot, radio and go claim the guaranty...
Any ideas before throwing the towel???
i was thinking that if it is a hardware/firmware problem, it should be possible to test via fastboot oem commands, isn't?
Download my fastboot commander from my signature (the magic version).
It has a special 32A tab.
Using the tool, flash the old combo and see if you can enter recovery afterwards.
You can also flash the new combo and give it try...

Stuck on boot screen

Hi guys,
got a problem.
I wanted to flash new hboot(1.33.2013) but it failed, and after that every rom I flash phone is stucked on "HTC Magic" boot screen.
radio: 3.22
hboot(spl): 1.33.2010
I can get in recovery, fastboot.
Dont have nandroid backup
Any suggestions?
thanks
Please post full spl-info, cause all symbols are important.
Why do you want change hboot?
Hboot 1.33.2010 is very good. You can change at "new radio" combo with hboot 1.76.2007 / radio 6.35.xx.xx (using fastboot commander), but why at 1.33.2013
Sent from my A7-040 using Tapatalk
Right now I dont want to change anythhing, just want to get my phone working. Now it just hangs on HTC welcome screen
Why I wanted 1.33.2013? Because it was needed for one rom

Recovery is Amon_RA 1.7
I found this steps, to try this, or.....?
1- I downloaded Amon_RA's latest H recovery ROM (at the time it was v1.2.1) available right here
2- I downloaded the MyHero ROM v1.1.1 here
3- I renamed the Hero ROM to update.zip and copied it to my sd card
4- I booted my Magic in fastboot and typed this in fast boot: fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.1h.img
5- Once my phone was at the green recovery screen, i applied the update.zip
The following rebooting process of the phone took a long time (ie 10-15 minutes, be patient)
Once it booted completely, the phone was working perfectly with an Hero ROM.

Seems you have right combo and can install custom rom with tags [32a] and [old radio] - according your hboot and radio.
Choose rom and flash it via recovery. Wipe data / factory reset before.
Note: if phone does not boot in normal mode - that is problem with rom (boot, system or data images). If phone does not start in all combinations = "brick"
Seems you do not have brick, only problem with rom.
P.s. don't change recovery if you have Amonra 1.7.0 H.

I know mate, but every ROM I flash gets stucked on HTC welcome screen.
Fixed it.
Flashed the RUU, rooted the phone again and its all good
