onto windows folder or \windows\Fonts folder.

Text messages?
It seems like I can't get this to work with text messages (the encoding option in my text message inbox is disabled). Does anyone know how I can get around this problem?

I want to get Traditional Chinese on my Vodafone V1640. I also have a T-Mobile SDA (on O2 UK) which has nina.ttf installed but it doesn't show all the characters (i.e. I still get some squares) which is why I want to try to get Chinese on my V1640.
The ROM is the latest i-mate WWE ROM.
I have a T-Chinese font (don't know the actual name of the font but it is definitely no included in the Chinese Windows) placed in the Windows/Font folder, but does it have to be a specific font (like MingLiu? it's quite big though)?
I forgot where the unicode option is. Encoding options in IE and E-mail are available (I can choose the language), but IE still can't display Chinese, despite the change in the encoding option.
Please help.

those were included registry and font. not mingliuy but chinese font in it.

I use the PHM Registry Editor. Do I just create new "String" values? Also, do I have to create the location in the registry as it isn't there?
The font file is named HDZB_74.TTF by the way.
arabic doesn't seem correct from the screen shot... the right to left encoding isn't enabled which is making each word to print on it's own instead of getting merged

the head of registry need "REGEDIT 4"
2;use the TRE free registry editre;

and use import command from menu, them import the reg you saved.
then make soft reset.
if your registry is correct, your font can use as system font

It may be solved by a registry tweak.
It is an old issue between the customers and the sponsor of I-mate. We have been seeking a convenient free solution to the right-to-left problem for a long time.
Anyway, I don't think the problem is from the font.

I think it's font problem. Because even my device does not support display from left to right, my display of Arabic is perfectly correct. I use a font called DFHeiMedium from Dynalab. It is a unicode font.

Hello,
Every time I try to install HTC Album, it doesn't show the text. (option text, etc..) its all blank. Everything work fine but there is no text.
Now that only happens when I install it. When it is installed within a ROM (Mary for example), it works just fine.
Any ideas to solve this problem??

you have to rename HTCAlbum.exe.0409.mui (in windows directory) to your language code -> HTCAlbum.exe.XXXX.mui (XXXX = the language code)
where can I find the language codes??

If you have a french OS the language code is 040C. For others I don't know.
An easy way to find it (but not the better) is to go in your Windows directory and search for a system file like "gwes.exe". You will find "gwes.exe.xxxx.mui" where xxxx is the language code you should apply.

Doesn't work for me
in fact it screws my device up!.. it shows the ABC being as the default input, but I can only type the first letter in each key, multiple presses just repeats the same letter
I guess I will have to reflash the OS.. otherwise I now cant use the text input on the keypad anymore!

Please help me. I am a new user having Dual 2nd day. I was trying to install it but it does not work. Can you describe step by step for the beginner what to do? XT9 is realy anoying esp for NON english users.
Hi, just copy the cab to the phone and install it. Maybe you need to softreset your Niki. (open the battery case, the reset button is left to the USB connector).

I love this and it is working well for me. My only issue is when using the touch keypad software, when you type it highlights the letters and take a few micro seconds to move to the next so if I am typing a sentence, and press space,it deletes that entire word or atleast the last few letters that I typed :-( So the only way to solve this is not text that fast or use the hardware keypad.

Hey everyone!
First, I wanted to start out thanking muzikfreakah for the link to the .cab file and the posting the Registry path that needs to be modified. I used these as a base reference for the work I completed on my phone. Instead of wanting to go from XT9 to ABC, I wanted to change my phone from ABC to XT9.
Initially I used PHM Registry Editor to make the necessary change to the Registry value you noted. Shortly thereafter, I updated my ROM to WM 6.1 so I had to reapply the settings manually. This got me thinking. Why not just create a quick .cab file for myself, saving me time in the future. This is exactly what I did!
Attached are two .cab's I created a while back (just never got around to uploading them). The first .cab (SP_Default_ABC_To_XT9.cab) modifies the appropriate Registry Key, setting it to 1 (defaulting to XT9). The second .cab (SP_Default_XT9_To_ABC.cab) does just the opposite, changing the value to 0 (defaulting to ABC).
Final notes before I part -
File Sizes: The file size of each of my .cab's is 1.07 KB, as it only contains the necessary Registry Key change. The link muzikfreakah provided brings you to "HTC+Touch+Dual-default-ABC.cab". This file size is 20.76 KB, as it appears to use a more complex method of making the necessary Registry changes.Company and Application Name: After my .cab is installed, it will display in the Installed Programs list as "Seth_Polley Default_XT9_To_ABC" (or vice versa depending on .cab used). After installing the other .cab (HTC+Touch+Dual-default-ABC.cab), the following is displayed in the Programs list: "Customization Customize_Tool".
In summary, either file will work for changing from XT9 to ABC. While 20.76 KB is nothing by today's standards, you can go smaller yet by using my .cab's (about 1/20th of the file size). Additionally, my .cab's provide a more descriptive name in the Programs list. Pick your poison! To 'install' the Registry modification, simply move the .cab to your phone, execute it, and follow the prompts.
Feel free to PM me if you have difficulties accessing/downloading the files. If you are concerned about using my files, feel free to open the .cab (can use an application like WinRAR) and review the contained "_setup.xml" file to verify this .cab will only make the changes I noted above.

I need to deploy an application that have arabic text to the end user without the need of installing an arabizer software (cab file).
Is there a way to deploy certain files [i.e font file] or adding some registry keys to accomplish this?
Knowing that the CF 2.0 throws "UnSupported Exception" when trying to encode arabic text in "windows-1256" encoding. how can I avoid this too?
Or is there a work around to avoid using this encoding and still display arabic text?
To cut it short, I need to display an arabic text on a WM phone that doesn't have an arabizer installed, Is that possible?

On my HD2, the hebrew characteres are not recognized in SMS (reading) and are displayed as question mark. Only when the text is in graphic mode the letters are displayed.
Also the writing direction in some application (RTL) isn't applyed.

I had the same problem in reading Armenian, Square caracters were displayed ,so here what I did,will may be also help you.
-In the Fonts folder on your PC W7 find the 2 folders called TAHOMA.TTF and TAHOMABD.TTF(about 620-680 KB each),copy them to your HD2 SD Card,from there with the Resco Explorer Copy&Paste them to your Phones Windows Directory,when asked replace them and reboot.Just dont forget to unhide the files in the Resco explorer.you can later delete the old 2 TAHOMA files from the Windows directory(about 280KB each)
