There are several things that I can't stand about this phone already.
The HTC branding all over Android OS is killing me.
It's slide out keyboard is just plain WEIRD.
The Genius Button is not so genius as to have put it on the front as a main button.
I just don't think I like it.
I LOVE Android, but this thing feels like a SideKick/kid version of what was supposed to be a game changer for T-Mobile in the Android market.
Call me Old Fashioned, but the G1 had everything that made Android work so well and I would STILL be rocking it if it had a faster processor and more memory.
It had all the right buttons in all the right places.
I know about the root, froyo coming and this that and the other, but why did T-Mobile do this to THEIR FlagShip phone line? They already had the teens with the SideKick.
So much to mention, but such a waste of breath.
There, I vented my 0.2¢
Personally I love the phone. I Do agree about the genius button but other than that I really cant gripe about the phone too much. It does everything I need it to do and it does it pretty fast.
I also agree with the genius button. I would have much rather had an end call button. I love the keyboard and this thing nvr slows down even when I have it all loaded up. Must say I love this phone even though I thought I wouldnt

To each is own I guess. I have the slide, evo, and hd2. As far as speed and userbility goes the slide is nothing to sneeze at maching speeds with both phones if not faster. Although I do admit a dedicated numbers row on the keyboard would have been a plus.

I didnt think i would like the genius button at first either comming from a g1, but it was intended to keep people from getting distracted while driving. I got used to it and i love it now.

You can always remap the genius button to do something else, like an end call button. I was wanting to get the HD2 because of the work being done with getting android on it, but it looks like its gonna take a while longer, and i cant chill with winmo 6.5 waiting for the android build to come to it. Im getting my Slide this upcoming weekend, and ill pick me up a used HD2 whenever the android port gets closer to done.
Lol. You jobber you don't deserve a SLIDE. Its the best phone on the market for less than $500. I've had and loved a N1. Just don't try to place a call on that crappy radio. Iphones suk. Droid is ok but wtf no better than the slide. Good luck. Maybe you should pick up a old bag phone from 1988 grandpa.

I am assuming you are just joshing with him. If not, this is seriously an unnecessary post and very rude.
I waited for a hard keyboard forever it seems, got the Slide, and tried out Swype. I saw that it had promise, and made a commitment to use NOTHING but Swype for a week. Now I've not used the hard keyboard for 2 weeks.
Looking back on my G1, it was good, even with all of the CM stuff on it, not bad at all, but the Slide blows it so far out of the damned water.

Im with you on that one.
My brother was an early adopter for this phone. I played with it a few times, couldnt get used to it. But I was growing tired of my G1. I picked up my Slide yesterday and I think I may have used the hard keyboard 4 times at most. Swype actually impresses me.
I think the one thing that annoyed me the most (and still does, but not as much) is the seperate lock/power button at the top of the phone. Im so used to hitting end to shut the screen off. I hit the genius button a few times, but not at all today. I do wish there were dedicated call/end buttons though.
I cant wait for CM to get on this so I can finally remove all this TMo branding BS. The phone flies right now with ADW launcher but I still see more in it.
OP - How long have you had the Slide? Give it a few more days to see if you can get used to it.
I don't really understand the hate for Sense that a lot of folks have. I personally love it so far, this thing is so frigging fast, I can't MAKE it crash! I too want to get rid of a bunch of the stuff on it though. Twitter is not my thing, so I don't need it, but there's a bunch more too, just need to get rid of it.

i agree...i came from g1 and i love the espresso UI, the little glossy bubbles around the app icons give them all a tiny bit of uniformity...and the speed is amazing. (compared to what im used to with the G1) i cant tell you how many times ive scrolled thru my homescreens (5, all completely full) as fast as i can to see if i could make it lag...to no avail...
i also dont have any use for twitter or facebook, i removed the twitter app and the widget, and the facebook app and widget, (among some others i removed to cut back on some of the bloat) and the only problem i have with espresso is that all kinds of unnecessary things are constantly running in the bg eating up memory...seriously i have 2 instances of HTC Checkin runninng AT ALL TIMES...isnt one enough? even when i kill everything they start right back up...that and the issue with tmo contact sync running after you turn it off, are the only complaints i have...other than that i love the espresso UI and its a welcome change from the stock android im used to...

the slide is not for everyone. I have only used the N1 and Slide as far as android is concerned. I love both phones. I prefer the slide over the N1 as it has the my modes that is excellent for my use but is only a personal preference. You can disable HTC sense if you don't like it (i go back and forth with adw launcher and htc sense). But this phone competes with the best of them. I have not noticed any performance degrades from N1 to slide at all. I like having the keyboard but agree that its not the best keyboard on the market but I have ended up using swype 99% of the time. Now I only use the keyboard for a lengthy email or something. I love the genius button as most of my text outside of work are done by voice and less clicks to just hit one button. Overall I am much happier with the slide than the N1 and once the galaxy s (vibrant) is out I'm not as excited to get it but probably will cuz I'm addicted to technology. I am very happy with this phone.
Thanks for this thread, everyone. As someone who is on the fence about this phone, it's been very helpful to read the opinions.
If you pefer another type of andriod without sense there are choices out there. But first you need to root your phone, flash eng-build, and then flash the rom you want.
SlideM is my favorite as it did not have any of the sense added to it. and I just love the old school android it is nothing toward sense but it doesn't have the android feeling. Remind me too much of the HD2 and although I liked that phone it had its "issues" :O
I thought that I wasn't going to like this phone because I kept looking at it like it was a sidekick but it is actually so much better. It never freezes and the phone has a lot of functionality. I personally like the espresso UI but the bloatware is kinda annoying. I do utilize the twitter and the facebook apps so those do not bother me. If I could find an espresso ROM without the bloatware, I'd be in heaven.

I have been using "smartphones" for a while. My first one was a Treo 600 on mobile. When my dog ate that; I replaced it with a T-Mobile SDA. From there I went to AT&T and got an AT&T 8125 by HTC; then the 8525. When the 8525 screen broke; I breifly used a Nokia e61 but dumped that like a hot potato due to AT&T branding BS. I followed that with the 8925/Tilt/TyTn2. I took a small break from HTC and I admit I had a refurb'd iPhone3G....
I'm now back on T-Mobile with this MyTouch 3G Slide... It's my first android device and I'm quite happy with it. I've never experianced Android without sense; and I do use Twitter (but not Facebook). I don't consider myself a tweeniebopper junior phone user; and I have an extensive IT background.
This doesn't have a snappy SnapDragon processor; nor does it have a giant AMOLED screen; but it seems to be quite well proportioned and well optimized. The keyboard does need some reworking. Swype is fine if you use swype for full words but I recomend a different soft keyboard for abbreviated im/smsing.
I have yet to Root my phone; as I'm awaiting a working FroYo; and I try to always use stock roms till I can't stand them anymore.
Just my $0.02 U.S.

I'm considering getting the slide for my wife to replace her aging g1. From all accounts it seems to be speedy enough and my wife insists on a physical keyboard.
The biggest issue I see is that even though 2.2 is promised, it still won't support flash 10.1 because its using the older armv6 (arm11) CPUs and adobe has said that flash 10.1 will only be supported on the newer armv7 CPUs, such as the snapdragon.
In the end, it may not matter to my wife, and flash lite might be good enough, but this is something that people should be aware of.

Well finally! G2 looks like a replacement for my 2 yr old G1 (Which is still running like a champ!) Tho I see the issues on G2 rooting. I was wondering Im 60% ready to order it today and pay 300$ to tmo. I mean rooted G1 is great.. but reasons I did that was for faster speed and apps on SD.. which the G2 does, The only final part was maybe firewalls, blockers and wifi tether which was only via root.
Thoughts from others? I know one day G2 will be rooted fine. But otherwise, anyone else have thoughts from G1 to G2? =)
You saying its a good idea to upgrade to the G2 is like saying..."Is it a good idea to upgrade my fat girlfriend for Megan Fox"?

Not really, those who use a G1 rooted, what are you MISSING in your G2? Im trying to debate do I give in and buy it NOW or wait. I got a itchy trigger finger... I upgraded once and got the HD2 (Which I put on ATT after I unlocked and got energy on it) but I never replaced my G1 which stays on my tmo account. Finally a device I might be able to have MORE fun with. Main thing I want is the wifi tether, tho I guess I could use pdanet and a usb.
What key features would you say scream the most on a G2 that G1 doesnt do? Hows emulators working on it?
I also came from a g1. I was running cm 6.0 so things felt quite similar really as far as UI except at blazing speeds. I do miss all the tweaks that came with custom ROMs however.
The physical phone is taking a little getting used to simply because I have used the same phone for 2 years. Won't take long though. For me, everything is an improvement for the most part.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I've been using the g1 as my primary/only phone for two years. The only thing that I miss from my G1 is the ability to IPSec VPN into Cisco devices. The wifi tether was nice but I only used that once or twice a year. The fact that the led only lights up to indicate that the phone is charging. It would be nice if it was a multi-color led like on the G1 and could be used for notifications or if the trackpad was multi-color. I wish I could unlock the phone with on of the bottom front keys or the trackpad. Really, all of those are minor except for the VPN, and that wasn't a big enough deal to keep me away from the G2.
The G2 is so superior to the G1 that I can't imagine staying with the G1. I was running Cyanogen 5.0.8 when I switched.
Well so far sounds like HTC made a nice phone that doesnt need a custom rom to make it super sexy awesome. =) That is very good...
Anyone try SNES or NES on it? Im wondering if the games are better. =) (Did they put the 3d app like need for speed up there?)
Anything new the G2 can do that the G1 couldnt or that it can perform better? (Im now at 75% at the point where Ill say screw giftmas and just pay 300$ on my Nov 28th bill lol)
Im using Enoms 1.6 on the G1 btw. (Stick with what works hehe)
I miss the full customization of theming my phone. That will come with root. Other than that, the G2 was a great upgrade from G1. One feature I absolutely love... While talking on the phone on the G1, you would have to double tap or press menu and unlock to access the key pad. With the light sensor on the G2, it pops up automatically as soon as you take the phone away from your ear.
Well thats good, =)
Durability wise, Is this slide design durable you think? Also from when I held it, doesnt seem as cheap or flimsy as the mytouch slide, which I felt was a JOKE.
Hows the camera compared to a HD2 (If anyone has it) I know my HD2 does some real nice ones. The G1.. always had abit of motion blur cause unless you held it so still.. I didnt like taking pics on it.
Any good games the G2 can do? I know on Verizon they had the NFS game that the Iphone had, which was cool with tilt controls. Would love it if the G2 started doing it. Speaking of that.. Does the G2 have better open gl support?
I am now stuck with this POS phone and my wife has one to. I purchased this phone because radio shack said there is a shorter waiting list for this one and this one is better than the EVO. I like the display and the slide out keyboard and the evo side to side comparison is like night and day but now the evo is way better than the epic by far. my phone has the mysterious back syndrome when browsing with the keboard open and I am now sick of it. no flash is now causing my browser to crash when a pop up comes on and fully loads. that is new because I used to be able to x out of them a few weeks ago. And every other epic problem it has I found it. Samsung and sprint stuck it to me. everyone waiting for the 2.2 update should just face the fact there is none. Explaine the nexus s with 2.3? I beleive the problem is hardware and nobody is going to waranty a billion phones. I will never buy anything samsung again.
I need to know the easiest way to root my phone and how and what ROM has working gps, bluetooth, and doesnt crash to often (my stock one crashes once a month). I didnt want to go this way but then I cant use the phone as sprint sold it to me either. I was told the same thing everyone else ,within a couple weeks 2.2 would be availible, usb to hdmi adapter cable, flash support .ECT. the 4g speeds i have tested in 2 states only acheived 2 down 1 up . screw sprint and samsung. sprint has the crappiest coverage of all the carriers and I switched because i wanted the evo instead I got this. I am going to waste more of my time and file a BBB case against them for the lies!
wow.. are you serious... your going to complain about the phone and expect somebody to help you? how do you get anywhere in life?

He never owned a evo either. The evo is just as much of pos the epic is. They both got there flaws but I choose my epic over my evo
Android Creative Syndicate- From spontaneous ingenuity, comes creative brilliance
I do have an evo but don't like the android keyboard, the display sucks but it does have flash player, hdmi out, and got froyo before the epic came out. I could say that sprint friken did a hard reset on my phone yesterday to "fix" the issues I am having with the phone and forgot to tell me that my calender of appointments would be gone so I am venting a little, but when I siighned up for the phone there were lies told to me ,mainly the 2.2 update that everyone is still waiting for. And it only took 3 tries to send this from my epic because it keeps backing out of the browser with the keyboard open, that wouldn't bother you? Other phones have a keyboard calibration menu. Sprint did telll me they are going to send a new phone today so yahoo.
I did read a lot of the link that you posted for me but get confused by the problem people are having just by plugging their phone into their computers. I figured that problem out the first day after a few hours and found out the epic sucks to much power out of the USB and screws you. Now the thbread is 99+ pages of confusion and I was looking for a shortened version of the story with a good rom link . Wow I made this post without backing out of the browser for once.

So basically your clumsy thumbs are hitting the back button or the home button and you are pissed at your phone for that? That is all I am gleaming out of your nonsensical posts. How about you do this:
*Write a list like this of issues you are having with your phone
*Use plain language and drop the emotions
*Explain exactly what happens and what you are doing if anything to cause it
I'm loving the Epic. Not very happy with Sprint over the whole update, but thanks to this site I could care less when their update comes out. Loving the Midnight Rom on the Epic. Would like to check out a few more, but going to do some more reading before I do.
If my thumbs were hitting the back button that would be an easy fix, cut my thumbs off. my phone from day one backs out of even texting by itself even with it 3 feet away from any human at random. This backing out by itself only happens when the keyboard is open and I actually have slide marks on the buttons because after i type something "quick" I have to close, it otherwise at any time the page back button goes haywire. all the way back to the begining. I am not ripping on XDA or any of its members so sorry if I came off that way. I paid for the top of the line sprint phone and use it for work and home and am tired of waiting for stock update to fix these problems. I know XDA and its members are going to be the one that supports this phone because history shows. I got a good deal at new egg on the evo and use that for 1 thing. browsing the internet and when it comes to a flash file, it plays it, my epic boots me out of the browser.
Odin flash to DI18 and then update to DK28...beautiful! I highly suggest the flash so that it is clean before the update. It doesn't like a lot of changes, such as apps and rooting.
Anyone on the DI18 on here able to replicate this? I remember the browser actually being more stable, but that could just be me.... See if the replacement does the same thing, I dont think it will... unless there was a stock browser update on DI18 I dont know about. but if it FCs on keyboard open, and you are on stock, never had flashed anything... try a new one... dont give up, the software is not perfect either way, stock or leaked DK28... and will be until we get source on something... then the Devs will perfect it. Besides, stock is boring... modify!

Friendly advice: When asking for assistance, please make note of your emotional well-being at the time so you do not come across as a hormone-addled teenage girl auditioning for drama club. Trust me, I have a 17 year old girl; I see this daily and this is exactly the over-reaction I have come to expect from her. i.e., ME: "You have to do your homework before you can get on Facebook.", HER: "MY LIFE IS OVER!!!! I HAVE TO TALK TO MY FRIENDS NOW! I'M DROPPING OUT AND BECOMING A STRIPPER!!!!" ME: "..." HER: "hrmph. FINE!"
If you have a hardware problem, it's covered under manufacturer's warranty and the phone will be replaced. You already stated that you have one on the way so is the drama really necessary?
The GPS on these phones is hinkey even with 2.2. Mine seems to work flawlessly on Quantum but it freezes up after about 20 minutes of walking with cardiotrainer on. Better than 2.1, at least, because it always gets a lock in seconds.
Good thing about Android is that you can actually download other applications that perform the same function for testing. For instance, in regards to your browser problem, there are multiple browsers to download. Personally, I use Dolphin because it was the first one I tried with tabbed browsing and I love it. There are probably better ones out there, but this one suits my needs. Try multiple applications to see if your phone's hardware's the problem or if it's a software issue.
Can you give me your Epic POS (and yours wife too). And buy yourself another an EVO? PM to send you my address...

looking into why I lost my appointments on my phone I found out that my calender is stuck syncing. so i can wright off my calender ever comming back. It took me 3 months of just waiting for this update to fix the phone and the rest going through sprints tech support and even samsung to get the new phone. they didnt just say here is a new phone to try. I sure am going to root the new one the day I get it.
I currently have the Original Droid, which has been a great phone in terms of what you have been able to do to it and it's reliability. My question is; how do the owners of the Epic feel about their phone? Still happy with it? Like the roms that have come out for it? And since I haven't paid much attention to Sprint, up until now, any other phones down the line I should think about? My contract with Verizon is up in 3 months.
Yes if you like a hardware keyboard then get the Epic it's a great phone you won't be dissapointed
If you like running the latest and Greatest software then the Nexus S will be out for sprint in like a month.
If you want a powerhouse of a phone then the Evo3D should be out by June following what they did with the original Evo

Thanks for the link!
I never buy phones on contract, and swapped from an iPhone to a Moto Droid in May of last year. Loved the Android platform, since I'm a programmer and super-user -- not a dumb user, the way the iPhone continued to fail.
I switched to the Epic 4G around October of that year (bought off-contract as well, ESN was clear, but ended up still being attached to an account... got scammed and ported it to Cricket myself). Love the keyboard. Love the screen. Not a bad phone at all. I wouldn't buy it on contract, though, since the new phones are coming out. But in my mind, the Epic is a definite upgrade from the Droid, albeit still not quite as flexible as the original Droid was in terms of development and ROMs (was on Sapphire with Droid -- tried pretty much all the different ROMs for Epic and they're nice, but not as nice as something mostly AOSP, i.e. CM7 or Sapphire). Waiting patiently for Epic's CM7 to be mostly stable so I can try to ROM with that -- having very high hopes for it.
So in a nutshell, yes, great phone. But, the only issue is that the phone will be outdated rather quick, though I don't think we're going to see another contender with a decent keyboard for a while with dual-core processors, etc (re: I'm guessing a year). No comment on Sprint service, but double check with reviews in your area to see how coverage, etc, is before making the jump.

I would stay away from this phone if I were you. The roms I've tried are all pretty good, but never perfect for me. I can tell you the current stock rom is still sub par. I would get the HTC if I you. I know people on here will tell you it's not a good of a phone, but I can tell you it works a hell of a lot better. If you really want this phone I will trade you mine + I'll give you $100 if you get the evo and trade me. I'm trying to sell mine now! my phones of on really good shape, no damage to it at all. DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY. His intelligence is showing with trying to trade you for a lesser quality phone. The evo shift does not have an amoled screen or the gpu power the epic has. This phone is amazing and will be amazing for atleast 2 years. This phone will hold up to the dual cores of this year hands down. I've been with sprint for 9 years and they keep getting better. Well maybe you like having to spend a million hours to get the phone to work, but for me, not really. It's almost a full time job trying to get this thing to work right! I agree the hardware is great, but not worth the fight to make it work right. I've spent hours flashing this thing since the new update and I will tell you I still have problems with this phone. If you would like me to list all the problems with my phone I would be happy to do so!

YOU have issues, the vast majority of people are capable of flashing a ROM correctly and troubleshooting any problems they might have, don't dissuade someone from purchasing a phone they want because YOU have problems using it correctly.
I really do like my phone and the ROMs are smoke'n.
They have been having a bit of an issue releasing Froyo that doesn't have some level of suckage.
We're expecting a 3rd try this week.
What balances that are the AWESOME devs for it; they popout an updated ROM with the latest update in no time at all.
Everyone is spot on in regards to hardware keyboard, I find myself (I HAD to have a real keyboard) actually using the swype keyboard way more than the physical one. Go figure.
Some GPS issues; though each update makes it a bit better.
There is a reason that this phone is the #1 selling PDA phone.
Having all said that, in a few months there will be some really powerful stuff that will just blow the doors off anything currently available. If I were in your position. I'd go for a multi-processor phone.
Good luck
I say get an evo.
Theres a whole lot more going on with the evo development that its a much more flexible phone.
Our phone has a lot of potential, but with a fracyion of evo/droid devs its harder for the epic to get there.

Check out the hardware keyboard fix from mkasick - it's implemented in SRF 1.1.0 and its accompanying kernel, Twilight Zone 1.1.0. If you don't want to leave your current ROM, give Twilight Zone a try. The fix is an adjustable one - so you can set the value as low as you want. That should completely eliminate any issues you're having.

These forums speak for them selves. You don't see half the problems in the HTC forums. Also if you have BOTH phones you would know how many more problems there are on this phone. I would wait for the nexus s if you want a sammy. I would not choose this phone again if I had it to do over.

I do have both, and have had few issued with either, I made the choice to stick with the Epic as my daily driver because its a much nice phone hardware wise and significantly lighter. I find it difficult to believe you would have any of the issues you're having if you properly flashed it.

I can't even tell you how many times I've flashed this phone trying to get an optimal set up. I have found that over all I've had less problems with the stock rom, but it is still a lot more buggy than the evo. I would just give this phone to my girlfriend and take her evo, but I don't think she would know what to do if the phone went haywire on her. Hers is stock and I've had far less issues with it than this phone. The only times I had any real issues with her evo is when I tried to mess with it. Trust me man, I thought I was the one screwing up this phone, that's why I'm trying out the stock hardware! All I'm saying there are a lot more issues. Trust me I bought this phone for the same reasons as everyone else! I'm just getting sick and tired of having to Odin the damn thing everyone 3 to 4 weeks! I thought a program may have been causing it, so now I'm trying stock ROM EC and I've only rooted it. I've downloaded XDA, Poynt, Blow up, and the Chase apps. These are the only apps I have on here now, so I was hoping that it was maybe an app causing my problems. Today I had my first problem since going to my current set up. I've been talking about it in this forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12464672#post12464672. I'm hoping that it's something that I just needed to reboot my phone. The only other thing I can think that made my phone go black screen is when I use the media player and play videos. I'm hoping it's not one of the apps, but I haven't been able to replicate the problem today. I'm just saying that my girl doesn't have any of these issues with the evo and right now I'm basically on the edge with this phone!!!! I also don't want to shell out a bunch more money for a phone so I just kind of have to deal with it and hope I can find a solution, but I would not recommend this phone to anyone after what I've been through! The Nexus S may be a different story since it's stock, but not this phone!

I'm not gonna say that flashing isn't a complicated thing. But that's your choice and if you really want to experience amazing ui then it takes time of the individual to figure how and what they can and can not do. That's why there is 1 click root. Flashing is not meant for everyone so if you don't have the time that's cool but don't blame the phone for your short comings either in time or intelligence or pesistence.

Trust me I've flashed this phone many times. I'm sorry to tell you that when you flash Roms and kernels there are still going to be some problems. I realise that you may want to flash Roms and kernels to make the phone run a certain way, otherwise there wouldn't be multiple roms or kernels to flash if everything worked perfect with one. You're showing your ignorance if you think that a flashed rom and/or kernel is going to be problem free. There's a reason why there are constant updates to the roms and kernels.
I'm just tired of doing it and you should be able to use the phone, without it crashing, without having to mess with it. I don't think it's too much to ask for the phone to not crash when it's stock. Maybe I need to go to full stock with out root. Maybe that's what's causing the phone to mess up. That's my next option!
Edit: I wish I could see other things you've bought. Just curious what type of repairs you had to do to them...
Not sure why you would expect something to NOT work correctly out of the box? You make a valid point it shouldn't work correctly stock..........

Whatever you do, do NOT get the Epic. Even if it's free. The keyboard TO THIS DAY does not work properly. It still misses keys and it's not layed out all that well either. I came from a g1 that had a keyboard that ACTUALLY registered keys, even if you type faster than my grandma. Please do not get the epic, get the evo shift or wait for something else on Verizon.

A lot of people has issues with the upgrade. I have a evo flashed to metropcs and I lost my mobile network. Other than that battery life is improved but sometimes screen is lagging, white htc screen takes to much time when i switch from application to home screen and camera app doesn't start sometimes till i restart the phone. so upgrade messed me up so bad too
well if you got it from here i am guessing its still rooted so i would say d/l a new rom and start over if your not rooted there not much you can do if you like stock rom use this one if not look for a different one

Gingerbread has made my "Smart Phone" essentially useless as a Smart Phone. It wasn't great with FROYO to begin with due to the interface resetting every time I used my web browser, but now after the Gingerbread update the damn phone resets after almost every app I use!
I'm on my way to the Sprint store right now. I use my phone for work and this is making it unusable for me. They at the very least need to get me back to FROYO, or it's time for an entirely different phone I suppose.
Lol cool let me know what happens with your phone and sprint i wanna take it in or call but i just havent really tried cus its software and sprint usually doesnt wanna do anything with it cus they wanna see the problem which is very hard to duplicate since the 2.3.3 starts to fail randomly lol

I had problems
I had issues with the internal clock not updating even though the sense clock read correct, constant white screens, this update should have waited a bit in my opinion.
The update bricked the CDMA radio so bad Sprint is now sending me another Shift which I should get tomorrow. This one will only do CDMA - 1xRTT and won't even go into CDMA - EvDo rev.A at all after the update. In fact, using the ##debug# dial code and selecting EVDO Engineering, this Shift reports '<Failed>' in every field. Even a Sprint network re-provision did not fix it. Since I pay the $7 per month replacement fee, I'm guessing that I should get a 'new' Shift vice a refurb hopefully. At this point I'll be happy to get EvDo rev.A back and live with the Sense reloads because 1xRTT is way too SLOW to do much of anything!
Another bug on it that annoys the sh$$ outta me is when u use the camera or camcorder it sets the brightness level all the way up.thats a reason my phone was getting kinda hot lol
