Hi guys. I am on the road right now so i appologize if this has been asked already. I just don't want to scroll through thousands of posts on my device.
This being said, i have flashed to the vibrant 7 rom and again wit the vibrant9 absolutely love it. I am wondering what keyboard it uses? I live in Canada and google voice does not work here. But this keyboard enables voice with no problems. I have tried vlingo but much prefer this keyboard.

Anyone know how to get email address suggestions to appear with the flext9 keyboard? It works with swype and the standard keyboard.
My wife downloaded it to her phone and it works as expected, so i know it should work. Prefer it to swype.

Got an email back from Nuance support seems it doesn't work on 'some' phones, looks like mine is one of them :-(
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback.
Engineering has been able to reproduce the issue on some devices but not others. This is something we will look into more for future releases of the app.

Nuance Mobile Life Support
Can anyone tell me a good gingerbread rom where the voice recognition Works right? Every newer version roms I have tried, the voice recognition does not work good at all. I was running an old Mik rom And it worked good, but I want to go to a gingerbread rom.
Mine has worked on every ROM....
Mine is not working currently, was already having issues on stock GB, well atleast since the update.

Did you download the updated app from the market? Mine was screwing up until I did the update now it works just fine.

Use Vlingo....that app is flawless, and you can do literally almost anything on it. Plus it's free.
U have to download voice search from the market. That's what I did miui rom.

Voice search was is already installed on most of the ROMs I used, and it was updated by me if it needed to be. Im talking about when I open up my key board to send a text, I would use several different keyboards that have the mic and it never would work properly. Sometimes it would work OK, but most of the time it was horrible. I noticed that all gingerbread ROMs I use also do this. I went back to MikFroYo v4.61 and it works perfect. I was just wondering if any of you guys using a newer gingerbread could suggest one that you are currently using where the voice to text works good on the keyboards.
Vlingo is pretty good, but it constantly runs in the background.

The MikG rom by aamikam version 2.51 has the new updated voice updates from the latest OTA. Since I downloaded it my voice search has worked even in my noisy truck.

Have you seen the new SGS2 commercial, taking a stab at Apple again. It shows how you can create an SMS by speaking, similar to Apple Siri. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=a4STej_rWlo
I've been using VLingo to do this, anyone know what App Sammy use for the commercial?
Vibrant on Asgard
Doesn't ics have this built in. Not sure if gs2 has it though

Yes its called voice talk. Powered by vlingo. Nice function about it is you can tap the top of your phone to activate it when in the app.

Does it really write as you speak or it first records your voice then write, as voice search does?
Like i say text so and so where are you and it sends them the text. After you confirm recipient and content of course.

the stock voice to text for ICS does this auto, and its as you speak, not after.
not sure if its compatible or has been ported to lower firmware versions.
I'm on the ICS ROM and yea, it types as you speak. Its alright at getting most of the words correctly. If it doesn't you can tap to show other options. Sometimes tho I have had a 'cannot connect to server' error. But I guess that's a problem that's on my part. Overall I'm impressed.

We've had Speech To Text since the beginning. I talk out texts in the car (only at red lights) all the time. You can voice search in Maps too. What's the difference? Type as you speak? So?
Its a marketing gig to get the drones to buy their product, and justify "v4" vs. "v5"....id be willing to bet that 85% of the people who have the new iphone played around with it for about a week or so, and once they showed it off to all of their friends, stopped using it completely.
hardly new tech... windows.machines have been able to do s2t since XP and I have voice input on my standard built in keyboard using gingerbread

I was using Google navigation this am, and I suddenly got a different voice giving directions. It was a more natural sounding female voice. It flipped to the Google voice for a couple series of directions, and then it was back to the new voice.
I haven't installed any other tts, and I checked my default to confirm it was Google.
Anyone else?
There is a backup recorded voice, that gives indistinct directions, won't read street names etc. But the gs3 has a rather good voice I've only been able to hear in navigation. I use svox classic with UK Victoria voice, best I've heard, but it's flaky with the license checking in (I assume, it just fails to be recognized 30% of the time.)
And I get the super ****ty one.
But if I could get the s3 to work with a British accent (I feel it just sounds less robotic) I could ditch svox.

FYI, I've got the same thing on my GNex. I just noticed it the other day for the first time. It's not that big of a deal to me, but I just thought I'd give you a heads up that it's not just the GSIII.
So is it Google trying to update from gingerbread?
Gingerbread tts was a big improvement from the old pico robot.
The new voice is very natural, but it's also softer.
I was noticing this too yesterday using Google navigation. I was using it through my cars blue tooth and it started with a quiet male voice, but then switched to a loud female voice and it surprised me.

No, it's the offline navigation voice, set it to airplane mode or yank the Sim and it should do the same thing, haven't tested it though.

naw I dont think so.. this was the latest Google Nav/Maps update the new voice is even on my GS2 with ICS on it.
I also had this happen on my GSII (Sprint). Mid-trip it switched to a more natural females voice; it does still read street names and stuff. Hopefully she will stick around, she sounds way sexier than the previous beezy.
I'm getting it too, on my EVO 3D. It seems to be that they are upgrading the voice, but it hasn't rolled out to everyone, and still has gaps in what it can say. I don't know if it's the same "more natural voice" that Jelly Bean has or not, but it sounds similar to me. I just hope they flesh it out to say everything, because the changeover between new and old voices is startling!
I use Ivona voice with Amy the female UK voice. Ever since I've tried it I've never used anything else. She sounds like a real person. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivona.tts

While this post sounds like an ad, I can definately vouch for ivona voices, they sound much more natural than svox, are free, and don't flake out on you. I personally love em and until Google now's beautiful voice comes along, I'll either use stock sexy voice that comes on and off that's being discussed, or ivona

And I want a gold plated toilet, but that's just not in the cards.
I just downloaded ivona from the play store.. I like that you get choices of the different women's voices. I chose Amy, she has a British accent. Sounds classy! I almost went with the Australian women, she's my second favorite. I'm glad I found this application. Thanks for the information yall!

Google apparently has a new TTS engine that they claim has a very natural, conversational voice.

Just wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for hands free messaging while driving. On the stock Mytouch the genius button and dragon dictation did a excellent job with hands free while driving. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good app that works with jelly bean. Thanks in advance.
The stock keyboard should already be able to voice text for hands free. It's works great for me.
EDIT: actually, my bad. I didn't read fully. I don't know if it works the same for jellybean. I'm on sense.

Yes it works for writing voice texts. With the stock Mytouch software if i had driving mode enabled it would read me new texts and emails and ask me if i wanted to respond and than send anything I told it to. Everything worked through voice. Does anyone know of anythign that works the same for jelly bean. (I have not used stock for a very long time so if i a m wrong i apologize but i think i am remembering correctly)
