I dont know if this is the right place to put this so move the thread willingly.
I was wondering if there is any way to get the Trackball Light notifications and the Trackball wake mod working in froyo. I know the source hasnt been released but maybe it is still possible... maybe
Patience my young grasshopper
Paul from Modaco says that he'll get right on it as soon as the source is released. He himself wants it quite badly (follow him on his Twitter if you want to know ASAP when it's released).

Then how do you enable them? We're you able to enable them? They don't work on my phone. Its back to the old white pulse every 5 seconds for everything.
hmm i have "Light" checked in google voice, ebuddy, and Gmail doesnt have an option in their app but i have "Pulse notification lights" enabled in the default menu.
Im guessing its up the app developer to select the color notification light.
Yep, really missing trackball wake.
As for the color notifications, they just seem to work here out of the box...
I dont think you need to open a new thread for this topic. Everyone waiting for it, cant you learn how to wait? Dont just ask for something, learn how to understand something. At least understand the situation, source is not release yet. So be patient!
DL screenmode from the app market and set it to screen lock off. Trackball wake up should work. Just found out about this yesterday lol

nice! just have to make sure you remember to turn the screen off when you're not using it...
I think trackball is much more useful. I got so used to it by now that its really annoying to use the unlock button at the top. Also its annoying that the Email light and the SMS light are both white....
Sitting by for further development i guess haha
Since HandcentSMS & ChompSMS no longer work - I've reverted back to 'SMS Popup' and the stock messaging app.
SMS Popup has 'LED colour' in the notification settings - so you can set to red, just like CM...

Umm ...
I bought LockBot Pro for Froyo for switching on with trackball, and it works great
(as long as you install or move it to internal memory)
The ChompSMS beta works great on Froyo too, and it makes the LED flash Green for me.

why? phone will sleep in 1 min anyway.. with or without screenlock..
never really understood who needs that locking feature.. doesnt the screen only respond to the fingers?
im using app called No lock. it removes that sliding locking AND enables trackballwake on froyo.. at least worked for me..

Handcent already releeased 3.0 that works with froyo. Been using it with no problems for a day now.
Most lock screen apps will allow trackball wake. Lock Bot works as well
There is an app on the market called no lock that let's you wake up your phone with trackball.
Hancent and ChompSMS both work now, and allow custom colors for your trackball alerts.
Google HAS enabeld the color trackball notif for the nexus one. See link below for use:
developer.android.com/intl/fr/reference/android/app/Notification. html
Now anny app can use those notifications, no need to be root. You can now just start having some fun!!!
I've noticed some of my trackballs notifications are different colors now but has anyone found a way to speed up the blinking?
Can someone tell me how to adjust the backlight timer? I dont like it when I read something and the screen goes black so quickly.
-dan
Did you know you have a settings menu for many things, like how long the backlight stays on? Go explore that menu.
Menu--->Settings--->Display--->Screen Timeout--->you choose the timeout duration...

Sorry for the noobie questions. Next time, I'll make the effort to find the answers on the easy stuff.

I know your issue was solved, but just thought I would mention that the advanced power app has alot of widgets one of which is the back light timeout on/off. I use that to toggle the back light timer when I am reading on the table.
Thanks. -dan
Hit the thanks button a few times. Glad your question was answered.
Hi all i just had an idea for all the people that want a led notification when they miss a call or get and email, fb notification , twit anything really.
You could have the two led back and menu buttons flash when the phone is in standby, letting you know there is a notification waiting that you have not seen since the last your phone was on.
Now i don't know how to do this but i put the idea out there for devs could be some thing useful for some people?
What you are looking for is bln (backlight notification) which needs to be baked into the kernal. There was a thread about it in the dev forum. Seems to have died though.

Hi,
with the Omnia 2 we had the same problem. Somebody solved it this way!
Perhaps something like this is possible on S2, too?
Rgds
Agreed..Only needs to be a soft pulse to notify the end user

Yep, that's what the OP needed, a battery-draining solution NOTHING like what s/he had suggested...

+1.. Use NoLed , its an awesome app , but I always check my phone so I dont need any of these apps xD
Since noled keeps phone cpu in awake state, its non comparable to button light kernel hack (which causes almost no battery usage change at all, like on phones with dedicated notification leds)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Yeh that's why i made the suggestion so that your screen is not on awake.
Having the menu button and back button to be personalized "like missed call for menu and back for sms " . This would be good i think

Funny because I was thinking of the lack of notification today, but want something different. I would like the led to light up like a heart beat when connected to usb charger. I simply hate that I can't see if my device is charging in the car.. how does this sound?
Can anyone please help me find a rom/kernel which allows me to keep screen on during calls? My proximity sensor does not work,no protector on.
Thank you.

Cyanogenmod may be able to do what you want...I'll have to double check. May I ask why you want this? You say your proximity sensor doesn't work, I take it that it always senses something is near it? Either way, Pressing the power button usually overrides the screen off due to the proximity sensor.

Yep,that's the problem.From what i've read it's a hardware problem.I'll try cyanogenmod to see if it works.Thnks.
It seems there isn't any option to do that even in Cyanogen.
this is 100% solution to your problem..!
install xposed framework activate it.
reboot, go to download section of that app and install per app hacking module and activate it
search for dialer (com.android.dialer)
and check "prevent service" and "prevent wakelock" .
there are other ways to decactivate services of dialer but i found it easy

Hi,
The notification led is only working randomly...
Sometimes when i get an sms (missed call...) the led is blinking, sometimes is doesn't
When it doesn't i push the on/off button to power the screen and see the 'bell' having a notification (as i did know of course ).
So when i push the on/off button once more to power off the screen, the led is blinking as it should have...
Anyone has this issue too ?
Install glimpse notification and will always see led notifications blinking at missing event(whatever call,SMS,email, viber)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.nullgrad.glimpse&hl=el
You even have option for double tap to sleep from lock screen if you want with this app.

Thanks for the tip. Will try it when no solution is found
Still, my other phones work quite well on this matter...this phone has its moods on notifying.
So question stays : has anyone have this problem too ?

Keep in mind that one more reason for using it not only at Axon but previous phone is that I have the option every time receive any kind event the screen wake up automatically and stay on for 5 second and then turn off automatically and begins the led always blinking until pick up and see the event.
If you having the device at jeans pocket there's a option not wake up the screen but only blinking the led notification.
Many manufacturers don't have that option that's why for me is must have app.

Is indeed right !
Some issues like : wake up screen automatically when receiving, not seeing 'what' i did miss unless i tapp on the horrible 'bell' thing...could have been better for sure ! Or at least customizable.

Yes it's bit of annoying but for that bug or better a bad ZTE feature the only solution is third party lock screen replacement like next lock screen.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.next&hl=el
It works great also with glimpse notification.(only the double tap to sleep feature not working with next lock screen)
Or just we have to wait until ZTE make the bell optional.

Glimpse notification is a help but next lock screen for me it wasn't (not always working correctly too)
Now i am using a simple app called NiLS Lock screen :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roymam.android.notificationswidget&hl=nl
It is very simple and effective. No layover over the existing lock screen, so another swipe to go to the stock lock screen is not necessary.
Also you can tap left on a message to delete it, go to the app. etc...
The good thing f.e. is when you delete a message like gmail with this app, the message is also effectively gone in gmail, so you do not have to do this action twice in gmail. For other apps the same benefit i think.
Just give it a try too
