I'm in Totowa NJ for meetings today, and I'm picking up a decent 4G signal where last week there was none. It keeps connecting and disconnecting, but I managed to get a few speedtests in, and pulled 6748kbps down and 1038kbps up as the fastest, with averages about 5500-6500kbps down and 1000kbps up.
nice.
I'm in Bloomfield and I get 4g no problem at my house. About the same speeds you saw using the speedtest.net website (not the app) so it's flying. I take the train from NYC every day and I can generally pick it up while in Jersey but it disconnects alot (while on the train). Doesn't disconnect at my house although I got some of those Error 61 bad PCS username/password errors last night, but it didn't seem to affect anything.
Bayonne nj 4g dl speed 9320 ul 1983....wow.
I was driving down the NJ Turnpike today, and noticed that I was getting 4G service from about exit 5 down to exit 3, strongest around ex 4. Encouraging...from that, and the other posts in this thread, it's north and south of me. Hopefully it'll keep working its way closer...
let the fist-pumping begin
Ive been spending my Summer in NJ and NY. I was on the boarder line of Belleville and i also be in Bloomfield Nj and ive never got a 4G signal not even a little connect and disconnect

I don't think 4G goes as far as 3G signals......little reluctant to say where in Bloomfield I am, but suffice to say I definitely have been getting 4G service. It's only been for about the last 3-4 weeks or so. Maybe I'm just closer to the towers?
4G in Old Bridge! Sweet! It ends about 1/4 mile away from my house, but that's all I need! It's not super fast here, but still gets around 3Mbps.
There's also 4g in passaic, clifton, hackensack, and Elizabeth NJ. I haven't check any where else because I'm always drive and don't look at my phone.
Passaic 4g question.....
I've always kept the 4g radio off because I wasn't expecting the service to be available in Jersey but out of curiosity the other day I put her on and BEWM!
One question though, it connects to 4g for only about 10 secs and then disconnects. Is this the normal functionality of the 4g connection or does this only happen in test areas where 4g isn't official? I've read threads in the development section that go into changing the timeout of the reconnect and would have no problem doing so, just wondering if there's something wrong with my rooted phone or if this is normal.
I get 4g in Newark and around bloomfield, I don't get it in fairfield or rt 46
Elmwood Park is live.

I get 4g in Clifton by the Clifton/Passaic border.....right by the supermarket and the strip club ;-)
my evo won't stay connected for more than 10 seconds if the phone is idle...
ie: the phone connects to 4g....I don't do anything.....it will automatically disconnect...and then reconnect automatically...then the whole process just keeps looping.
If I do "use" the internet connection while on the 4g network....it stays connected.
I posted a video on youtube of my download speeds with this connection....

Anyone able to get 4G consistently in the Boston area? I was down on Mass Ave. in Cambridge and had it working momentarily, anyone know good spots to go to get a steady 4G connection?
I had good 4g constant at my workplace in Medford, MA. The thing about 4G is that it has a very short 10 sec idle sleep setting. So pretty much if you are not downloading or using the connection it will disconnect. Connect back to 3G and then it scans and reconnects back to 4G.
I also saw it briefly connect last night, but signal strength was low in Central Square.
I HAD full 4G signal in Downtown Crossing but have since lost it. Unable to connect. Scanning, to Connecting to Sprint, to Obtaining IP Address, to Disconnecting and then starting the same process all over again. I can def. say that this started happening after flashing a custom ROM (DC 3.2.3) in addition to Radio/Wimax. Since then I have not been able to get it back. I saw one other member mention the same thing. Is anybody still seeing 4G signal anywhere in Boston Metro area?
Question:
For kicks, in methuen, MA over the weekend, I turned on 4G.
I kept getting a cycle (not exact wording):
Scanning
Found 4G connecting to Sprint
then back to scanning
Is there actually 4G available this far from Boston?
I am in Lowell, MA now and I just get a constant: Scanning...
I know for sure 4G was up and running in Boston a couple weeks ago. I was using 4G constantly. I work in Downtown Crossing and was getting sick connection on 4G. But it seems as though it's gone now. At first I thought it was because I had rooted my EVO and applied a custom ROM but now I'm beginning to think something is up with the 4G as I am seeing the same thing with the Scanning, Connecting to Sprint, Obtaining IP Address, Disconnecting and then back to Scanning. I don't know how far the 4G signal reaches.
I get pretty consistent 4G in the Allston/Brighton area right on Harvard ave.
I am unable to connect in South Boston. It was working fine before, now it will get stuck at obtaining ip address then just disconnect. I think this has to do with the rollout since they're still testing it.

I get a very spotty connection in southie too. some days are better than others
I am also having the same issue in Downtown Crossing, been happening for a week now. It's not a rooting issue as I've been rooted since I bought the phone. It seems to be happening in Providence as well.
Not sure if this is related, but I am now able to connect to 4G after flashing the *FINAL* Official 2.2 rooted update. Not only that, even with the same radio, I am now getting AWESOME consistent download speeds, averaging 6mbps.
Same here...I work in Burlington...SPEEDS are INCREDIBLE....4G is BAAACK
i'll out 4g later on today... does anyone else out there find it sad that our 4g speeds tend to be only a little better than tmo's speeds. My boy has a mytouch slide and he consistently get 3.7mbps - 4.3mbps down

Well 4G hasn't even launched officially here yet and they're still optimizing the network even in officially launched markets. Some people are reporting 10+mbps download speeds. It'll only get better.
After being down for a week and a half, 4G - wimax is back up in Needham - but I am only getting 3.4 down and .4 up
A friend with an EVO says they're in the process of installing the antanea/tower (whatever the correct term is) on top of his office roof in Salem, MA. (As of a week or two ago.) The Clearwire tech said planning a full area launch in October/November, but 4G will be available in some areas sooner.
I'm in Haverhill, and no luck yet.

Yeah, I know this is kind of off topic but here's a public hearing notice I saw back in January. Clear was requesting to build a tower/antenna at 678 Mass Ave. That's right in Central Square, Cambridge
I work at Copley/South End and it goes in and out. I live at the border of Milton & Mattapan, and i get a faint signal and works for awhile. Even with a faint signal, its still a very fast connection. I have a friend in Lynn who gets good reception.
4 g is here
Hello all,
Just wanted to note that I'm getting 4g both in south Lowell near exit 37 off of Rt. 495 and stronger signal in Cambridge near central sq. I just used speakeasy for a speed test and download was just over 5 Mb. That was with one bar of signal strengh shown on the phone.
Just turned my 4g radio on today for kicks. Was getting one bar on the water in Quincy. 5.3 to 5.6 down and about 600 up. I like it!
yea I was just looking at my phone and i notice something activate on my phone and it was my 4G I really have to try this out

saw 4G in Germantown and Gaithersburg
I was in DC last week and had 4g coverage (it was spotty). The best coverage was at Nationals Park.

I get 4G outside my job in Greenbelt. Don't have anything at home in Clinton though.
Yea I think they just testing it out
I have actually picked up full 4g signal all around the beltway. Gaithersburg, Rockville, Bethesda, Laurel, College Park, Bowie, NW Washington. Randallstown, Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
Since I got my phone June 4th I have had 4G in Loudoun County (Northern VA) about 30mins outside of DC (next to Dulles Airport).
I am now getting 4G in some parts of McLean, Tysons Corner and Arlington. Haven't seen amazing speeds yet (around 2000kbps compared to a max of 1500kbps or so that I've managed to get under 3G).
Did they turn something on though? I previously wasn't able to get 4G at all in some of these areas.
I was able to connect to 4G in Greenbelt (close to the Sprint store) but it was spotty. Also was connected driving on University Blvd by Langley Park. Noticed 4G coverage in Bethesda as well, but couldn't connect or stay connected long enough to actually use it.
I just got my first 4G signal in Falls Church, in my back yard no less. Signal quality: poor, several 404s on sites that should have been there, but no time for extensive testing right now.
I also get 3 bars in Severn area, Hanover\odenton 1-2 bars

congrats to u guys when u get 4G! let me know how it is!
Got full signal in arlington.
3 bar @ gaithersburg. 3.5mb/s down and 1mb/s up.
No 4G in North Bethesda, no 4G downtown, no 4G in Metro.
Anyone else having data problems around the state??? It is ****ty for sure.

Near Orlando and I just got 4kbps down, 60kbps up and a ping of 791ms with speedtest's Tampa server. I've also been messing around with my phone trying to get my PRI updated all day so it could be caused by that.
Just a few minutes ago I had to restore a nandroid because I was getting the error 67 / invalid login messages.
Edit: Just tried again and the speedtest app said my download speed was -0kbps, somehow I doubt that is accurate
Sounds like you are having some of the same problems I'm seeing in AZ. Sprint seems to be having issues.
Have had trouble with my 3G for about ten days now. Sarasota/Bradenton area. Sometimes it functions normally, sometimes I can't get a bare bones map from Google to download. I'm on Sprint's network and I suspect the slow 3G speeds may have to do with 4G testing going on around the state. I know Tampa just went hot and the 3G speeds up there were horrendous for about 2 weeks prior to the roll-out. Whatever problems they were having seem to have been sorted out. I was driving in Tampa on Monday with no trouble on 3G.
I spoke with a Sprint rep today who indicated 4G should be live in this area by the end of next week.(Hope, hope.)
Nope, mine is running good today. Last night I went back to stock group deodexed whatever the update letter was. It's running good. Eating battery a bit more than cyanogen rc1, but I got tired of poor reception so I'm trying something different.
I'm over in Melbourne and it has been terrible all day. I'm glad it isn't just me.
Tampa here. Its been hit and miss. When 4G first hit, I could pull 5-6Mbps on 4g and 1Mbps on 3G. Now I can't even pick up 4G where I used to at work, 4G at Busch Gardens is about 2Mbps and 3G is running around 500kbps.
Definitely something screw the last 4 or 5 days.

I'm usually home using wifi near US1 and babcock but I was up in Viera tonight and got better speeds while roaming 2g on verizon than 3g on sprint. I'm glad cyanogenmod has the "affiliated networks" option.
I live around the Tampa area but have traveled to north Florida for the weekend and the trip this afternoon was horrible for data. No data coverage from Tampa to ocala at all on I75 using my evo or the data card so I know its not a phone problem. It's the network.

I am near Orlando and it has been ****ty 3g. I thought it was my rom. I called sprint and told them i couldn't connect over 3g so they gave me my MSL number and did a restore. Now i have an updated PRI and am getting about a 1meg down. This is double compared to what i was getting before considering where i live.
Yeah, there were times yesterday I couldn't even connect. It was making my Word Feud playing and Pandora listening extremely unenjoyable.
I'm in Miami. Near the airport. About a week ago I was riding to work and when I got to work I saw that it had picked up a 4g connection somewhere along the way. Haven't been able to find it again though

yeah my 3g service is stuggling in Jacksonville
4g seemd to be working ok yesterday in tampa, just the 3g was crap.....Today is a brand new day, hopefully the system has repaired itself...Lets see....

3g seemed to be working quite well, did some speedtests and I'm getting 1.5meg down and .5meg up. For curiousity sake I turned on the 4g radio and connected.
So Walla Walla now has 4g service! Can't get it in my house, but if I walk out the front door it connects lol. I barely connect to it, doesn't show any bars, but it pulls down about 3megs.
Thanks sprint! 1yr of premium data, and I can finally use it!
I want it in Michigan
They must have came through here and done the network vision, my 3g was always 200-400k. 4G I figured we'd be the last to get. But browsing on 3g, etc... seems close to my wifi. Now if I could just grab a 4g signal inside lol
You can check coverage at clear.com/coverage for better maps.
You guys live in Michigan too LOL small world, I live in Dearborn. Lucky me I have tmobile

WiMAX lit up in my city also, La Crosse, WI.
We'll see what happens in the AM but right now my 3g is down to 500k, 4g is still around 2meg though.
164k down and 250k up. :|
136kbps down and 201kbps up, so still not fixed for me. Even though Sprint said my towers were going to be fixed by May 1.

We have it some places in and around Detroit. Go to clear's site and look at the coverage maps. 4g is available in a lot of places where it is not yet being advertised as being available.
Back up to 1 meg on 3g, so far so good.
still crap speeds here no eta on a fix
Still pulling 80kb down and 338kb up here in Dallas. I don't even bother with 4G, it never connects. So incredibly frustrating.
They need to fix their towers in South Florida.
No fix here.. I did receive an email that there is now 4G in my area.. thats a load of crap.. as I can still only get ONE bar if any in my area, which I could do since the first day I got the phone...
screw u all lol the most ive ever gotten is 110 down and 60ish up
thats after i changed the host file to all 0's
I have been unable to connect using 4G. 3G works very slowly. I can click the 4G widget to establish a connection, I get a 4G icon at the top with full signal bars. But unable to connect to any web sites or even the android market.
This seems to be happening in a lot of places. NYC is trash right now.
Mine has been quite goofy lately. It will connect with bars but like you said, then nothing will connect. I noticed it the last week trying to run a speed test to show a friend. It couldn't connect to a server, so that demo went REALLY well.
EDIT: Popped your Cherry
4g philly has been horrid all day until like 10pm...... try connecting to 3g by the art museum? impossible
YES in philly my 4g just dosnt work... Neither does my fiances on her evo... I got full bars but can't use it.... Glad I'm not the only one.. Means it'll be fixed soon
Edit: the independance day show was great

I'm not in Philly but maybe 1hr northwest in Reading and that happened to me yesterday. 4G on and couldn't connect to the net or market and even tried a little speed test and nothing. I did noticed it back around 9 or 10 in the night, so maybe it will be a half a day for you guys.
I'm currently about 5min outside Philly but I hit a tower in the city for 4G. I'm able to access sites but randomly pages will fail but if I reload they will end up loading the second time. I've heard issues in other cities so maybe it's a Sprint problem.

1369 kbps up
