Hey all,
Does anyone know a direct or indirect way to import FB friendlist to the x10 contacts, then merge them with Google contacts (Same as in HTC Sense).
I did manage to link 3 of my Google contacts to their FB account manually (Contact->Edit->Link Contact). Though, I still didn't get everything from this linkage, almost nothing other than the status. It didn't import my friends' display pics and albums, not even their special events like Birthday. I am sure there is a way somehow to do so. Does anyone know it?

wait until 2.1 is out. 1.6 doesn't have this feature. my bro Moto CliQ, i also tried on LG GW620. But Nexus One can do this as its a 2.1 features.
That is good, I am looking for this feature too as I used to have it in my HD2. So now, I only use the SyncMyPix to sync the facebook profile photo and link to my contact.

i used to look for apps, then also link all my contacts to facebook and twitter manually.
after numerous amount of debrand, and root updates. and i never to backup. i don't bother to do it anymore. hehe.
previously, i even browse around all my facebook friends, take their hi res profile picture and put to xperia contacts, now i don't do it anymore. lol.
wait for 2.1.....

i only did the usual way to upgrade,
market -> download, and click on the application, and update.
Any feedback about the version? I see quite a few complaints about force closes on other handsets, how is it in the Desire?
Works just fine on the Desire. My biggest problem is you can't view your messages you have to manually go to the mobile site...oh wait what's this update...messaging feature finally! Now they need to add chat.

They need to get up to date with this android Facebook app. I did the update today hoping for the notifications to finally work properly, as in notifying me if someone comments on one of my posts! but alas, still no cigar, infact it never seems to notify me of anything. Is it just me?

I get updates but only if I add people with facebook to my Friends Widget..... then it adds a green circle with the number of updates by a friend.
the main app works fine, but the widget doesn't. fails to load each time.
edit: confirm that a reboot does indeed fix the problem.
A reboot of the Desire solved the issue with the widget for me
I've started using Bloo again lately. Much better notifications system, slicker and more comprehensive UI (has its own photo viewer with save option rather than just linking to the mobile site for example) AND there's an update coming this week that adds Facebook Chat.
Bloo doesn't let me log in i get stuck in a login cycle.
There is also multitouch when you view images.
Have you given the App permissions? Works fine on my Desire running generic Rom. Not bothered about multitouch; the only reason the native Facebook app has it is because it opens up the browser and that's CHEATING ;-) the gallery UI is much more slick and user friendly with Bloo, besides which there's little point viewing photos en masse with either of these apps as the standard photo gallery has Facebook album integration which is pretty damn slick
they have added the inbox but still it has few bugs. It cannot show more than 30 threaded messages in a single conversation. Even when someone sends a new message in that same conversation, you can see the preview on the inbox but when you click to go on reading it loads first 30 messages.
So im still stuck with the mobile facebook to see my messages. ..
anyone know the workaround of this?

Also, I can't see the new update. I'm already on 1.2 :s Does the new version allow contact sync like the Nexus FroYo version?

Hello!
I just got myself HTC HD2 and upgraded to WWE 3.14.405.2 official ROM.
I also upgraded FaceBook app to 1.1.0.26 from Marketplace.
But I don´t have all my friends listed in facebook app. I have over 500 friends, but I can`t see all of them. I go to "Friends" Tag, and click "Search" then i input the person's name which i'm trying to search and there is no results come out. In the web I have this person in my friends list!
That`s also why I cant sync all my contacts with facebook because they are not in the list in conctacts !
Please help me! What I have to do?

Ok I did some looking for you, but next time please use search. Go to this thread and this thread and check this thread out. One of the Face book apps has got to suit you. Then default app sucks, but then again what do I know I don't use facebook at all.

But the thing is, that my HD2 syncs contacts with the original Facebook app. Right now I cant sync all my contacts with facebook because they are not in the friends list in my HD2 facebook app! To have their pictures and birthdays in my HD2 is why I need a working ORIGINAL app of Facebook

Sorry about that then, I meant no harm just see people complaining about the stupid default facebook app all the time, but usually non of them have even tried to find a better app.
This may be a really dumb question but have you tried logging out of your face book account in the app then logging back in? I have heard that has helped some people on these and other forums.

I don´t like this original Facebook app mutch, but since it is integrated to my HD2 and it has possibilities I like, then I would like it to work as it has to be !!!
Today I reinstalled 3.14 ROM to HD2, hoping it will change something, but nothing new. Nothing changed in Facebook.
Is there any fixed ROMs, that are similar to original, but working better then original?
If all you really want is pictures and birthdays in contacts, HTC Sense has built-in Facebook integration for that. Have you tried going to settings (in Sense not the start menu)-data services-click on Facebook under social networks and set that up? That's how I sync my contacts with my Facebook. Btw, for general Facebook browsing I highly recommend either the FIM app, the XDAFacebook app, or the m.facebook.com site as mentioned before.

Yes, I have done this. From there I have from half on my friends pictures and birthdays already in my HD2 contacts. But in this list, what will open when I want to link someone with Facebook, there isnt half of my friends listed! Thats the problem! They arent listed in Facebook app too. Also I think, that the Facebook app and HD2 Social Network systems are connected to eachother. When one is not working then the other is also crap

i think it has something to do with your friends' privacy settings. if they have platform applications disabled, you will not see their name, photo, id, anything. i have some contacts that are not showing up either, though.
quick question: when you go to htc album, select any friend's facebook album, and browse images, do they download for you guys? i have troubles for 2 days with those now. i only have a cross.

Just got my new Nexus S, moving onward from Nexus One. Just encountered a rather wierd problem, with facebook sync. After I've installed the facebook app and loged inn; I didnt get the option to sync contacts. When i go to account & sync, the facebook sync isent there. If i try to add it, it just goes back to the main account & sync screen. Ive tried to reinstall the facebook app several times now. Anyone know how to fix this?

A while back, Google decided to remove our ability to sync our contacts with the Facebook app, as a protest to Facebook's policy on privacy and being able to download your data from your facebook account. Annoying really, since I'd much rather just have sync than be played in some Google vs. Facebook power trip, as if Facebook truly care that a tiny minority of their mobile users are now unable to use a feature of their app.
If some details are slightly off, I'm sure I'll be corrected.

They only did this on the NS. The way to bypass it is to use a custom rom like cm7

Nope, no camera zoom either.
I would flash SuperAosp 6.0 rather than Cyan. IMO its way better and smoother..
of course, superaosp also allows facebook sync

Hmm. I guess I should try that one out then. The thing with Cyan is that I dont even use half of it's functions. Does the SuperAosp give me the 720p and zoom on the camera?

Hi guys, first time poster, long time admirer (used to be stuck in the blackberry age). Anyway, I just rooted and installed gingerblur on my AT&T atrix 4g and I love it. However, I currently have a problem with it.
So the moto blur accounts are still present (intended i think?), and the facebook motoblur account I have active syncs the pictures to my contacts just fine, but when I open up the test messaging app, the picture for the contacts are blank? I tried deactivating the motoblur fb account, and just installing the fb app from the market to see if I could do it through that. But it seems like there is a whole list of options cut out of it, and there is no option to sync photos. It seems like the google contacts is not syncing with the motoblur fb account for some reason?
Has anyone run into/fixed this problem? Thanks for all the good work and help.
P.S.- I would have posted this in the Gingerblur post but I can't since I'm such a newb.

I never figured this out either. So I actually reactivated the old messaging that came with blur (it's in the GingerBlur thread somewhere), and that got it back. Kinda liked the speech bubbles anyway.
Ok so I guess I found a solution for all that are having this problem. I downloaded an app call syncmypix. Its free and pushes your Facebook freinds pictures to your Google account contacts, which in turn displays them on ur messaging app. Idk but something about the contacts is screwed up in this rom.

its the messaging.apk file on this rom you can pull the one from greyblur or just use an app to manage your SMS such as hancentSMS or i heard chompSMS also works
AFAIK google disallows facebook to intergrate with messaging and co. with gingerbread. As the gingerblur messaging apk is from gingerbread (as far as i know) it cant do its wizardry. Could be wrong though

Ohhh that makes so much sense now. I was so confused as to why the contacts would sync with the pictures and the messaging wouldn't. I'm glad I found that app then.
However I think on stock android gb devices, the fb app can sync the pictures, but since motoblur includes this in their accounts it screws everything up.

Hi everyone! I have a Milestone 2 and recently I became tired of motoblur social apps, so I downloaded the twitter and facebook original apps. The problem is that facebook app doesn't sync my contacts based on my friends. If I go Menu>Accounts and try to add the facebook account from the facebook app (not the fb icon from Motoblur), nothing happens (I just keep cliking the icon and nothing happens). If I go on facebook app Menu>Config>Other settings, it's empty, and there should be the sync options... Does anyone know an idea to fix it?
Another problem is my contact linking names, and I believe you are aware of this. If I link, for example "Gabriel Avignon" with "gdeavignon", the contact name will be shown "gdeavignon", which is ridiculous. Is there a way to fix that, like replacing the contacts app (BlurContacts.apk)? If there is, where can I find a right pack for that?

I know all about the drama... As far as I know there's no fix.
The Facebook app syncs only on specific devices with the Facebook app preinstalled afaik (Milestone 1 is one of them).
The contact list bug annoyed the hell out of me ass well. For now I'm not using blur anymore but seesmic. Love it so far.
You might want to try to bug Motorola with it...

No seesmic can't do that. Sux indeed. You might want try to get a hold on a OG Milestone Facebook.apk. You might be able to sync contacts and the functionality remains after upgrading.

Just remove motoblur app from facebook app list, also remove facebook from motoblur account and then try to add the facebook again. It's work for me after facebook update last night.
