Wifi Streaming - Strange Problem

Wifi Streaming - Strange Problem
I am hoping someone may have come across the same problem as me because I have searched this forum and have not seen anything like this.
I have been trying to access my Music stored on my main PC via the wireless router which is connected to it (Netgear DG834G V3). I am using Pocket Player 3.5 with the new upnp plugin. I am trying to connect my HTC Touch which can connect to the internet via the wifi router no problem and I can also look at shared folders in Pocket player through adding a network folder address. I can play files this way also but the directory structure of my hard disk is long winded and I just wanted to browse the traditional way by artist/album etc..
I have found that Windows Media Player 11 does not recognize the Touch as a Upnp device and when I try and Network share on pocket player nothing happens. I have also tried Resco Explorer and it cannot map the drives also.
Something I found strange though is that I also have a laptop which is also connected to my Wireless router and when I opened WMP11 on the laptop it shared the files on the Touch. I looked at all the Network/Firewall settings etc.. on both the main PC and the laptop and they were almost identical so I cannot understand why my main PC isn't allowing the connection. The only difference is that my PC is wired to the Netgear and the Laptop is connecting through wifi.
If I actually plug the Touch directly into my main PC via the USB cable and close down Active Sync the Touch can suddenly read the WMP11 content on the main PC (although it gives the Touch a different MAC Code) however it will loose it as soon as I disconnect the cable.
Can anyone help! Am I missing something really obvious?

BBC iPlayer woes (Solved)

Hey everyone
I've been trying to get BBC iPlayer to work on my topaz today with little luck so far.
Initially I tried to access it through the browser and it tells me "Your phone is not supported" When I used my PC to get a list of supported devices, they say the Touch HD is supported, so I don't see why it shouldn't work on my Topaz.
So I followed some advice I found at a forum (this one), and set a Custom User-Agent to sgh-i900. Suddenly the website works and looks great, but when I try to play something, it opens the stream in HTC streaming media, and gives me a black screen within the player, shows the length of the show correctly and the track bar at sitting at the end of the program. When I pull the track bar back (rewind) it just shows a loading screen indefinitely. I get exactly the same result if I try to open it in CorePlayer 1.3
I notice somebody else with a Touch HD (in the link above) had the same problem.
So I try something else. I download myPlayer (found a link on these forums). The app works great (thankyou author!!!) But when it comes to opening the streams in CorePlayer, I get exactly the same problem.
I can download the streams using myPlayer and then watch them, but I really want to be able to stream catch up tv as well.
Do you think it's some sort of Codec I need?
The other thing. I can watch live tv off BBC, that works well. I just can't stream catch up TV.
Has anybody else with a Topaz or a Blackstone (with a standard ROM) been able to get this working?
Do you guys have any suggestions of what else I could try?
Thanks for your time.
Are you using myPlayer via 3G or wifi?
To stream the catch-up content via wifi you shouldn't need any additional codecs for CorePlayer. Your mobile should have the same connectivity as any PC on your network.
You could try loading this stream via a PC (using the VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html) to test the connectivity:
rtsp://3gp-acl.bbc.co.uk:554/3gpclip/iPlayer/wifi_5381424370952762694.3gp
If you are streaming via HSDPA/3G it may be your phone provider blocking the RTSP port (554).

Well I got to the bottom of it. Thanks for your reply FryWalker.
Interestingly it just doesn't work over my office wifi network. BBC iPlayer works perfectly on my laptop when connected to my office network (via lan cable) but not on my Topaz over wifi.
It worked on my Topaz when I got home (over wifi), so I can only guess that my office wireless router is blocking the port.
Any other theories? Either way... I'm not that fussed, so long as I can watch iPlayer from bed, or whenever I'm out and can find a decent internet connection.

Yes, it is likely that your office network / firewall is blocking access to port 554. You can try streaming through the myPlayer server as an alternative by selecting "Stream via myPlayer media server" on the Stream Settings screen - this will attempt to connect via a range of different ports.
Another thing you could do is download the iPlayer content for "offline" viewing via the episode info panel.

Bluetooth withActiveSync/Mobile Devise Manager

Have my shiny new HTC HD2 in my hand as of yesterday - stunning device so far but I am unsure what I should expect from the bluetooth link behavior with ActiveSync/Mobile Device Manager.
I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64bit on a laptop with BT built in on latest drivers etc.
My old Nokia handset would connect with the laptop quickly when in range - I then had to choose to sync the calendar, notes etc from the Nokia sync software.
The HD2 will let me connect to ActiveSync without problem, but each time I have to do this manually. If I walk out of range or shutdown the laptop etc, the bluetooth link is not re-established until I choose ActiveSync on the HD2 and choose connect to laptop.
Is this expected behavior? I had hoped the HD2 would connect automatically to the laptop when in range?
It seems to link fine with my in car bluetooth, though if the HD2 is locked when the car bluetooth turns on (e.g. when starting the car), I need to unlock the HD2 before it will automatically connect?
Can't find any settings that appear directly relevant - where I can it is all set to allow connections, start automatically etc.
Advice welcome!

Connection via Bluetooth with Windows 8?

I have Nexus 32GB, 3G . Up to the last week, was using Windows 7 and the bluetooth connection was ok. Now I've installed Windows 8 on my PC, connected again via bluetooth, but then strange things started to happen:
- No audio from my PC, the audio device was switched to a bluetooth headphones (never connected something similar to that PC!)
- I couldn't switch on the nexus screen. First I was scared that also mine is from the defective ones (read all about it in the net ), but after a restart, was ok. Yesterday i was listening music on the nexus and the screen went off. Was not possible to switch it on, but the music continued playing. Removing the Nexus from the bluetooth devices in my PC made the screen switch on again.
Where am I doing it wrong? No settings available in the nexus for the paired device (only change name and disconnect) and couldn't find which services are running for the paired device in win 8.
Any help will be appreciated.

[Q] Stream music to PC via bluetooth?

Has anyone had any luck streaming music from their phones to their computer's speakers via bluetooth?
My internet connection at work sucks so I can't stream music from Google Music. I don't want to listen straight from my phone because then I might miss IMs or meeting reminders. Ideally, I'd like to stream the music I have pinned on my phone through my computers audio to get the best of both worlds.
So I successfully paired my phone (4.3) to my computer (win8) via bluetooth, but I can't seem to do anything with streaming audio. I can transfer a file no problem. If I go into devices > nexus 4 > properties > services, it just shows two "unknown services" which I've tried updating the drivers on to no avail.

Not sure about bluetooth. But there is an awesome app called 'AirDroid', it allows you to use your phone on your computer by accessing it locally on the wifi. You can create an ad-hoc and do the same.
Code:

After much toil, I figured out how to get it working. For my laptop, I had to download the ThinkPad Bluetooth package:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032149
From what I gathered, the default bluetooth drivers provided by Microsoft do not support a2dp. If you don't have a ThinkPad, look for drivers from the manufacturer.
Hi, I just released an app that lets you stream the music from your phone and play it in any browser over wifi as long as both devices are connected to the same wifi network. It's called Weezzler.
You can get it here.
