For the first time I tried sending and receiving mms today and it does not work.
Anyone have this issue and how I can fix it. I have check and tried different setting on and APN still nothing. Here is what I have for the APN setting
APN: internet2.voicestream.com
Proxy: not set
Port:8080
Username:not set
Password:not set
Server:http://216.155.174.84.servlets/mms
MMSC:http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapens
MMS Proxy:not set
MMS port:not set
MMC: 310
MNC:260
Apn type: not set
I was able to send mms, But cannot open receiving ones. When I click download it seems like it loading but nothing happens.
I've had the same problem and gave up after t-mobile failed to fix the problem after 3 calls and 10 "test" mms that they then charged me for! I just email all pics now as most of the people I would send pics too have email on their phones luckily

As soon as I got my Hero and put my AT&T SIM in, everything worked. But, I noticed when someone sent me MMS, It showed up inside a text message with a "Download" bubble that I had to click on to load the picture/video. Are my APN settings wrong ? Is there a way to just get the message to show up ?
also I've noticed I need to have data (mobile network, NOT wifi) on for it to download the picture/video.
For MMS i think you do need to be on your mobile network yes, wi-fi wont work.
Sounds like you need to go to your MMS settings and check the option to auto-download MMS if you dont want to do it manually each time. You'll know its working becuase when you get an MMS in messages youll be given a small icon preview and clicking on it will open in in gallery.
thank you for responding. I already have "auto retrieve" selected
do I need to have two APNs in my settings (one for Edge, one for MMS) ?
I'm with orange and i have different APNs for the internet and for MMS. I'd check with T-Mobile on that one. Maybe give customer services a call?

(I think he means check with AT&T.)
I had similar issues with Telus, but even when I fixed my APN there was still something wrong on their end, so I had to make a call to them and they fixed it for me.
I have AT&T and only set up 1 APN and I get a "download" button, but it seems like it's already downloaded because the second I click "download" it's already loaded up. When you say "download bubble" do you mean you click on the bubble and then it sits there downloading the picture and it shows up a few seconds later? Or are you looking for a way to automatically show the image within the text convo? Because I don't think that last one is possible.
also
I have been flashing ROMs like crazy, trying to find the best one to suit my needs, and at one point, on some ROM (can't remember which), MMS would just download automatically and show up on the screen. no download button or anything.
Hoping I can find out which one it was, and what the settings were for MMS, and get that working again.
Will post if I find out.
rpimps: could you detail your APN settings here so I could try that ?
for the MMS proxy, should I use
wireless.cingular.com
or
66.209.11.32
also should the port be set to "80" or "8080"
found conflicting answers on these two areas

thanks for the help
I've tried differnt APN setup on my HTC Legend, trying to get it to receive MMS messages. Due to my plan, the only APN will work is internet2.voicestream.com
i went to the apn setting and created 2 APN, one is T-mobile Data and the other is T-mobile MMS. The data works fine, however, the MMS is unable to download. I'm not sure which APN and MMSC to use. If anyone can get the MMS to work on Tmobile network in the United States, please let me know a solution. Thanks!
Hi i am having the same problem and would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in Advance!

I've been using my unlocked g2 for several weeks now and still have been unable to send or receive mms messages. This morning, I tried downloading a picture message about 20 times, all the while driving through supposed 5 bar coverage and it failed everytime. Someone help please...

What carrier do you have it unlocked for? You have to change mms setting according to carrier.

I'm on at&t. I've googled for mms settings and can't seem to find conensus. I have the apn settings filled in and internet works fine. Do i need to put something in proxy?

So you are saying your MMSC, MMC and MNC settings are empty?
edit --
If they are, try these
(ALL under MMSC
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: 066.209.011.032
MMS Port: 80
and make sure the very bottom setting APN TYPE has mms in it (mine says default, supl, mms)

MCC: 310
MNC: 410

im having sorta like the same problem except i cant send picture or multimedia messages thru text as an attachment ive went thru all the apn setups for tmobile tho bc thats my service provider im currently running the most recent virtuos rom in which i jus did a restore back to an earlier time when i was almost positive they worked i have no idea what to do any help would be very appreciated ive been messin with this for atleast 15hrs
I see people having problems sending picture messages via mms so I would like you share what I have done to get mine to work considering the amount of time it took me to figure out. I still can't send or receive pictures with wifi on but texts work ok and internet has been perfect with no drops in 24 hours. I have checked so many forums I am just going to thank everyone and also say I'm sorry if this s a overpost.
HERE IS WHAT I DID:
1. First wifi must be off.
2. Copy your current apn settings so you can replace them if tis doesn't work for you.
3. Delete all apn's
4. New Apn
Fill in exactly like this:
Name: (whatever you wanna call it)
APN: My APN
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0 (if it asks)
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
AUTH TYPE: NONE
APN TYPE: default,mms
5. Save
Now this setting allowed me to keep my mobile network connection without my data dropping once when tested for a week but did not let me send or recieve picture mms messages. I did not find these setting but someone else here on xda posted them and I give them all the credit.
Now make a second new APN and fill it in as follows:
Name: (whatever you want to call it)
APN: epc.t-mobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: none
APN TYPE: <not set>
Save
I cant take credit for this setting either because I found it in the forum somewhere but I think this is what I found and its a big questionable think.
Highligh second settings dot or the one with the APN: epc.t-mobile.com
Now, I noticed you have to add them in this order or you wont get the dot to select the second apn listed because there is no "APN type" filled in but do it this way and you should get a dot at apn screen. After adding these two settings, I have had perfect pictures and been able to send and receive them.
If you receive a picture message with wifi on, I also found a fix for that because it will seem your mms connection is frozen. Simply unchecking and rechecking mobile network box did not solve this problem for me. Go to mobile networs-apn-highlight first apn dot (APN: my APN)-wait for data icon to disappear-then re-highlight second dot ( APN: epc.t-mobile.com) and back out. Data should reconnect and start working again.
Please test this out and see if it works for you if your having problms and let me know the outcome. I hope for a least one ataboy! LOL

The second APN settings are like mine, with no data issues...
Can you guys post your data speeds?
No matter what ROM/Android/kernel combo I use, I can't seem to get consistent data speeds above 200-300kb/s in HSDPA. I should be getting 1Mb/s, but I'm not.
I haven't had problems with SMS/MMS, but data drops do happen a couple times a day.

I was having same problems with a different build I was using then swithed builds and everything is fine.
Here is my set-up:
task 29 (important step)then flashed energy ToG edition updated 12/5
reformatted sd card
Android version: core droid hd updated 12/13 stock kernel h 8.5.3
radio: 2.10.50.26 (whatever stock tmobile is I'm not sure about .26 but first 3numbers are correct)
Only inputed second apn setting listed above and works great.
battery drain seems a bit high but I dont care it works great.
I want to add that the new core droid hd is awesome and by far the best build i've tested in my opinion. Give it a try.
In the city of st. paul mn I have got 4.2 download and around 2+ upload with above apn setting
My HTC Magic isn't sending mms messages. Using the default app, if i send, they simply say sending permanently. When I recieve and press download, the button disappears and nothing happens.
I did a factory reset, which did change the mms apn settings, but I am still unable to use mms messages.
You need to change your APN for your MMS.
there are a few different ones, try this one. This is the one I use
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01
Server: 172.25.0.107
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC :302 (should already be filled in)
MNC: either 720 or 72 depending on your SIM card (should already be filled in)
APN Type: mms
Leave all other settings blank.
Seems like I was putting grps instead of gprs. Derp.
Thanks, gotta be more attentive next time.
