In WM there was a option (in custom builds)
to enable something like N-draft for wi-fi.
It was increasing perfomance of wi-fi (for me it was even 10x better)
Is there something like this for Android ???
Thanks in advance.
To enable 802.11 draft-N needs draft-N capable chip, which the HD2 does NOT have! The wireless modes that HD2 supports are 802.11b/g, so you either mean something like "Extreme/Super G" (which I also think HD2 hardware doesn't support) or you don't remember correctly because what you're asking isn't possible...
Regards
Well, I know this , this is a reason why i called this as : " N-draft like ".
Can anyone tell me is something like this works for Android :
http://www.slashgear.com/htc-hd2-tweak-enables-wifi-n-support-2464252/
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589305
First is a link to article about N-draft capabilities,
second one is a link to BSB Tweaks showing N-draft enabling options.
So there is N-draft like application for Android HD2 ???
I'm pretty sure N is enable in android build I used, because my router says so.

A wireless N router usually transmits both N and G WiFi (and possibly B too), so being able to connect doesn't mean anything.

I never said the HD2 doesn't have an N chip, just pointed out that being able to connect to one doesn't mean ****. Thanks for pointing out it's got the hardware though, never heard that before.

It means ****(whatever you meant), if it connected to your router(N mode only turn on), or look at your router status, it would let you know what (****) mode of your connection (Mix mode on your router)

Hello everybody; For your information, i tried everything discussed in the forums to unlock 802.11G on the Universal (V1640 flashed to qtek 9000 french release), from altering manually the registry and clicking on the avaiable cabs whithout any success.
But i almost lost connection between my UNIVERSAL with my 108Mb netgear router in the process and could'nt revert back WITHOUT hardresetting the universal and reinstalling it from scratch.
So my advice would be to await lore precise info on that "may be embedded" feature without attempting anything in the meantime as your bound to loose some of the features of the universal.
Brgds, Arnaud
It worked on my JasJar, although at first it didn't want to reconnect. I'm not that it's any faster, but I think I'll leave it set this way.
**Can't get it to work after setting my wifi back to mixed and then back to G only, so maybe I was hallucinating previously. Sorry**
It doesn't work. I even tried it myself! I was sitting here switching my router from B&G to G-only and it would only connect when in B&G mode...
Why would they design hardware that could cope with 802.11b and g and then cripple the faster speed through software?
Surely this must be a hardware limitation that we'll never overcome? :?:
Unless maybe it's to preserve battery life. Would the g protocol require more battery than the b protocol?
If you check the chipset datasheet for the wlan you see that there isn't support for G. This is just a hoax.

May have worked
I could not find the device under the same registry string as documented.
Found my wireless under tiacxwln1, suggesting the listed fix may relate to newer models may have a newer wlan card. My unit is a T-mobile MDA pro given to me around November.
Amended the registy settings and connected to a 54g router.
Did seem faster and have discovered more networks at my office today.
Still to establish if it is 54G or not.
On another note looks like T-mobile uk may be readying a rom upgrade, lots of activity on their ftp site last week. Half of the URL's I use to have to official upgrades and firmware for T-mobile uk devices dont work anymore.
It's got me thinking about this whole thing.
WHAT IF you could "rewrite" the radio stack, much like Linksys has provided the source code so that avid developers and Linux lovers could mess around with it?
Could we possibly enable EDGE capability? Could we retune to get 850 instead of 900 MHz?
Since the radio stack can obviously be changed regardless of the CE ROM, it may not be tied too directly to jump points in memory (unless the developers are following a fixed structure on how to build the stack).
I'm thinking back in the days when latter 33.6k modems were flash-upgradable to 56k with that K56Flex/X2 fiasco back then...
If the hardware is there and is primarily software-controlled, it just takes the right reprogramming to get it right.
Anyone on the same page as me?

What you call a "radio stack" is usually a realtime unix
operating system, running on a separate computer with its own CPU/RAM/ROM/IO/etc.
It is relatively easy to replace wince with Linux on the "general purpose" part of the phone.
Dealing with the GSM part is much more difficult for various reasons.

you can enable it in BsB Tweaks

Apparently it does, yes. You can enable it with a registry tweak, but it's also an option in BsB Tweaks, which is obviously easier.
I couldn't tell you why it's not listed. Maybe they ran out of testing time before the release deadline and decided to just turn it off instead. They could always give us a hotfix at a later date and call it a new feature
Who knows!
How to test it? Make sure you've got a wireless-N router and just test your speed on the phone with it on and off. It should be pretty apparent. (Obviously, it will make no difference unless you have a wireless-N router).

yes but my internet speed does not help mee do benifit of the n wifi
I will wait to be corrected but Wireless N offers much faster connection speeds - but only with your wireless router. If your bottleneck in Internet connection speed is your home based ADSL connection (which is normally FAR slower than any normal wifi connection - even a poor one) then you will see few if any benefits of Wireless N.
However, there are other factors and you may see more stable HD2-Router WiFi connections and greater range on connection - but if those were not previously problems then you may l see no advantage at all.
Some reports seem to indicate Wireless N on the HD2 uses more power on the handset - but that seems only to be implied rather than supported by any evidence at present.
Give it a try. The BsB software makes the Registry change for you and is easy to undo if you wish too.
I can confirm that after 2 weeks of testing the wireless N on the HD2, the speed is grater. I can notice the difference in loading times. I suggest you apply the tweak and don't worry, it won't cause any harm to your device.

Copying files across my wireless-N network seems much faster with this tweak on. However, I don't have any figures to back up my hunch.
Hello all, I have been in the Blackberry world for a few years so I am a little out of touch on WM. I have spent about an hour with the HD2 and I am sold. One thing I noticed is the lack of Wifi Router. I know the European version has it and I would like to know if it is something easily ported to the US version? Thanks for any input and if this is a stupid question I am sorry, just haven't been on the WM scene for a while.
P.S. I know I could use WMWifirouter but I would like to try the HTC app (also help that its free).
I suppose it depends if there is a Sim free version made by HTC.
The version we have in europe is a different model.
If there is a sim free version made, there is nothing to stop you from flashing that ROM to a T-Mobile branded device (in theory).
That should give you all the functions HTC put in.
the o2 uk version doesnt have it either. I shoudnt worry, its readily available.

make sure laptop is seeing it as an ad hoc connection, not infrastructure.
Is that a joke? What adhoc? It wouldn't work for me either (LEO). I can not see it from my laptop, no DHCP or static IP with the router SSID forced either.
Nevermind restart fixed all problems and that's really ad hoc!

Question #1: Maybe the problem isn't the phone but the router. Have you tried a different phone with that router? Or your HD2 somewhere else? And no, radio shouldn't affect your WiFi *that much*. Also, could you please elaborate more? What do you mean by "not working"? Does it just disconnects, does it stay on "scanning", doesn't it assign you an IP address? What exactly is the problem?
Question #2: All JB ROMs are good.

If it occurs on many ROMs, its probably something inside the hardware (just guessing).
